3D remake looks good. :)
But it couldn't beat the original sprites.

That's because graphics and animation are two different things.
The most important for a game is the animation, and Metal Slug sprites have a lot of details that make it feel alive and impressive everytime.

It might be BCA use of the shading, the art style, the fact that it’s hand pixel drawn, well… the animation and overall speed of the game actually so… that might explains it
The translation from 2d sprites to 3d looks good but some charm of the original just can't be translated to the 3d plane. Its a still looks good as a metal slug game.

I think they really need to make all the bosses bigger, they really look bigger on the original games. That could help to make them feel more intimidating

this comparation is beautiful... but, i love the version old!
I have mixed feelings with this remake tbh. And here's my points:
Wins:
- The conversion from 2d to 3d was well made.
- Its all Metal Slug games in one.
Neutral:
- At some points looks easier, at others looks harder. But looks easier most of the time.
- Soundtrack. Not that bad, but could be better. I prefer the originals.
Misses:
- Soldiers death animation. Lacking compared to originals.
- Blood. No blood, not even water like the western censored version.
- Sound effects. Lacking compared to originals.
- Some dimensions of the vehicles and scenary seems off compared to the originals.
If it ever gets a PC convertion. I hope they improve some of my points. And i would like it to explain the history of every game properly, that would be amazing.
I agree in the first one of the misses, especially for the Flame Shot death animation against the soldiers
They should be settings to enable blood effects and death animation
This 3dmake can't even begin to replicate the amazing sprite quality of these games. I don't dislike the 3d look, but knowing what it came from ruins it for me. Metal Slug is one of the game series I absolutely adore the look of the sprite work so much I can't see it any other way.

The new metal slug is kinda slow with shots and the soldiers bullets are too slow😢, I like the old dinamic🔫
Spritework will just always look better, but this is one of the better 2D->3D attempts. It manages to maintain some of the charm. I'm pleasantly surprised by the music. I've noticed a lot of remakes tend to take rock heavy soundtracks and techno-fy them, which always falls flat.
Metal slug 1997 can't be replaced by newer ones today XD

yo soy de aquellos que jugaban en los arcade y pasaban cualquier metal slug con solo una moneda hace 20 años, la musica y el carisma se perdieron en este remake, es como una persona sin alma, HUBIERAN HECHO LO MISMO QUE EL METAL SLUG 6 solo seguir usando el 2D pero hacerles mejoras como em sombreado de los personajes, modo de pantalla panoramico cuando habian enemigos gigantes como el jefe de la mision 2 del metal slug 6, paisajes en movimiento como en la mision 1 cuando se mueve la vegetacion, guardado de armas en partes criticas, muertes gore que te estimulan a no morir (metal slug 3 mision 4 fue mi pesadilla de niño) y tantas cosas mas que me quedo corto, espero saquen un metal slug 8 con el carisma del metal slug 1, la trama del metal slug 3 y los graficos sobreexplotados en 2d con un pequeño toque 3d del metal slug 6

In the original game the bosses covered more than half of the screen, but tencent didn't compensated the wide screen making every boss look smaller than they used to be
The textures used are soft and compressed, making some details like the screws being barely readable
The Tanks Drift, cause Tencen't didn't understood the Deformed Perspective the originals used so they just Rotated the Tanks
Some bg details like the numbers of the clock from MS1 mission 2 are so compressed you cannot even see what time is it
3D looks good but looks easy mode and the original is looks challenging.
the OG is a masterpiece, impossible to replicate. Everything in it feels like art
After watching this I can't say old is gold
Wishing there was a new metal slug story, new character, boss, but with old animation

Es increíble que a pesar de 21 años esta saga de metal slug no esté extinta por sus fans, más con el cariño que resubio quienes los jugaron,
Quienes los jugaron fueron los que ya sabían del gamer,
Quién más tiene nostalgia por dicho juego y la compañía SNK
Gráficos que aún en 2021 son épicos, músicas legendarias y una jugabilidad más que aceptable en aquella lejana época,
Assault y Final attack son mis temas favoritos

i mean i don't think its even fair to compare metal slug awakening to the older titles
it just felt better to hit those shotgun shots and spam those grenades down a boss's throat
i just feel like the fast paste action that the games known is just slowed down to a point that i don't feel like its Metal slug...

I can appreciate the 3D iteration of Metal Slug. However, I don't think I'm quite ready for that. In my opinion Metal slug deserves a remaster of the original, basically what developers did with The Ninja Saviors: Return of the Warriors in 2019. Basically refresh the pixels and bring it more detail and add what new sprites to give the game the vibrancy that is needed in 2023 for it. Nice job on this though.

Los soundtrack eran épicos en aquel entonces y lo siguen siendo.
Los gráficos estaban muy bien elaborados. Cada dibujo era perfecto. Me gustaba el detalle que le daban a los zombis o momias. Además era un juego muy fluido en comparación de otros juegos de Snk que también eran de guerra

I do preffer the old ost's and the old visual. I don't dislike the 3D visual, but I think that the older visual was more fit for the game, and these ost's are despicable.

I don't see a problem with MS: Awakening. The 3D graphics could be done a little better. I only hope, that if I could download this for free, one day, I could have the freedom to make my own story for the Metal Slug franchise.

I like the classic version better. Thx ultimate version does look good but the original had more charm and wonderful death animatics and more, and more, and more.
Plus the 3d version looks kinda strange when you look closer, it doesn’t have the same energy when compared to the original sprites

no lo he jugado, obviamente, pero me aprece que esta nueva version, se ve mucho menos desafiante que los originales, si bien los soldados ya no mueren de un balazo, no me parece un reto. eso del apuntado no me termina de convencer, y lo de las habilidades especiales tampoco me convencen, crei que pondrian algo como el barrido de MS5 o algo asi, no se, como usar un arnes para subir barrancos, o una equipacion como una turbomochila para dar mejores saltos similar al traje de ms3 en la mision 3, lvl armor creo era... en lugar de solo salto doble... aun asi, los graficos y animaciones estan muy buenos. para pasar el rato estara muy bueno eso si...

Me quedo con los graficos viejos, la verdad el nivel de detalle es mejor, pudieron haberlo echo mejor en 3d ya que es mas facil modelar que hacer tantos sprites a mano, pero esta bien el nuevo juego tmb es muy bueno, pues es lo mismo solo son detalles visuales lo que yo comento 👍

It suffers from the same issues as Mega Man X8, with everything looking stiff and less organic overall, albeit to a much lesser extent thanks to the advancement in 3D animation.
The big problem is that this new release has a slower pace compared to its predecessors, but that could be a good thing for beginners.

Se ve bien, pero el antigüo, lo veo mejor, por su realidad, sólamente, en las destrucciones del enemigo, como por ejemplo: cuando se quema el enemigo, o las explosiones de los vehículos, algo que no se ve en el nuevo...

Los gráficos de ahora son mejores, pero no me gusto la cara que tiene Marco en esta nueva versión. Otra cosa que tampoco me gusto es que se pueda disparar en diagonal, eso haría que el juego sea mas fácil.
