We had a couple of really Big roaches in our Navy barracks in Gulfport, that walked around like they owned the place. So we gave them names and just let them be.
My friend who used to live in Tampa, where there is a shipping port, had a tarantula fall off the ceiling and go inside the back of her shirt. Several minutes later, when the neighbors had broken in, she was still standing naked in her bathroom, screaming. They thought it was a home invasion. Well, it kinda was....
Jersey boricua here, and we moved to N.C. my neighbors just randomly wave at everyone. I begun to wave back, and my daughter is like, "You know them?" Lol, I'm like, no, but they're always waving lol
I have never seen either of my parents honk their horns they just wave at everyone. I went to take my driving test and failed because the horn didn't work on the truck. It went bad and my dad had unhooked it years before and forgot about it. The speedometer didn't work on a van he once had. After a few years he got pulled over and explained to the cop that it had just gone bad and got a warning so he fixed it Another time he ran a vehicle out of gas on purpose just to get rid of the old gas he had a can in the back to fill it up partially again but ran out of gas on the way back because he only had a half gallon in the gas can.
That's a neighbor thing. Your next-door neighbors, those on your block who know you - waving when you pass by while out and about is definitely a thing.
Lololol my mom's from jersey, moved to Cali then georgia then nc and honestly it's very different in all places but georgia and nc are definitely the waviest. But nc has the worst drivers.

My grandparents grew up in the South, before moving North. Although I've never lived down there, as soon as I hit Tennessee, those ancestral roots begin to show. Suddenly, I'm "y'all" this and that, "sweet tea" for everything. It's like I'm a spiritual travel bus and all my ancestors are like "Will you look at that, we're home!"
I live in the North (Ontario). People do that here too. And I’ve had car troubles in California and Michigan, and people also stopped to offer help! Funny thing, that.

Alabama here. Wanted to mention the special breed of super sized flying cock roaches we have. Carry on luggage optional. One night I was asleep and heard a scrapping sound on the wall above my head. I slowly came out of my sleep to realize I wasn’t dreaming. I opened my eyes. As my eyes adjusted to the dark I discovered the source of the sound. About four feet above my head was one of those bus sized cock roaches crawling up the wall. As I was deciding whether or not I wanted to bother with getting up to deal with it, it lost its grip and fell on my chest. All I can say is teleportation is real. I experienced it first hand and was on the other side of the house instantly. 😉
I can feel the terror as I'm reading your story. I have to share my roach trauma, we went out of town for four days and when we came back there were a couple roaches that had pooped all over the bathroom including on my toothbrush
Have my own story to tell. Was sound asleep felt something touch my cheek. I moved and it went by my shoulder. Flung it off. I hurried and grabbed my phone to turn on my flashlight.
