That’s a beautiful stitch! I am just learning to knit and I found the Portuguese style is best for me. Someday when I get better at knitting I hope to use this beautiful stitch. Thanks for showing it. Much Love and blessings ❤️
Thank you for the lovely video. I want to use the stitch for a hat knitted in the round. Would I need a multiple of 10 + 6 sts without the 2 edge stitches?
I am not sure what 10 + 6 means. Can't I just say 16? Or does that mean 2X10 plus 6 (3/3) on the ends? I am having to fake too many rows to get it right. But maybe I am wrong to begin with! 🤭
Good question: it means any multiple of 10 (10, 20, 30, 40...) + 6 = Cast on 16, 26, 36, 46, etc. No edge stitches if you are working circularly. Is that clear?
Sea Foam stitch You need a multiple of 10 + 6 sts + 3 border stitches (garter) Row 1: k Row 2: k Row 3: (right side): k6, * (yo) 2x, k1, (yo) 3 times, k1 (yo) 4 times, k1, (yo) 3 times, k1, (yo) 2x, k6, rep. from * Row 4: k while dropping all yo's off needle Row 5: k Row 6: k Row 7: k1, * (yo) twice, k1, (yo) 3 times, k1, (yo) 4 times, k1, (yo) 3 times, k1, (yo) twice, k6, rep. from *, end last rep with k1 Row 8: Rep row 4 There were mistakes in the discription, which I used before checking the video.

Thank you, Karen!
Would that work doing purls instead of knits since it’s Portuguese style?
Yes, absolutely! I thought about it when I was knitting it, but did want to modify the stitch pattern. Good thinking!

Hi Linda! In this case you don’t need edge stitches. You need a multiple of 10 + 6. I would love to see the hat when it’s done.
