Hi Andrea! I’m currently knitting some stranded knitting socks… so, they are very easy in Portuguese-style, doing purl for the stranded knitting. UNTIL… the heel turn and gussett… do you have any patterns that will guide me through these steps without resorting to a short-row/switching to knitting… then switching back again for the foot? I want to continue working this sock “inside-out.”
@@anissalong1340 well, the heel is flat, so it’s back and forth. You can use K1,sl1 or seed stitch or honeycomb stitch. I have a video on how to pick up stitches purl wise on the flaps of the heel after you turn it. From that part on, you are still on the purl side and on circular mode again. Does that make sense ? @@dukeofpurl yes, I received your email and I thought I answered it. Sorry if I did not. It is possible. I show 3 videos here on TH-cam where I start a sock toe up, but all on the knit side. Andrea, I have a question question! I’ve been knitting Portuguese style since I learned a year ago, but I’ve only ever used circulars/magic loop. @@ppcosta1 eu também fico feliz que você achou meu canal. Podemos compartilhar com o mundo esta maneira de tricotar!
I did it before watching this or seeing anyhere else since I hated purling I always hated to the point that I used to think methods to only do circular knitting to avoid purling and one day I said to myself why I dont make small hooked tip to bamboo sticks that I bought from the store so I did a soft neck to them with sandpapering after shaping the tips with a knife. The result is easy purling with continental holding no need to do cumbersome protuguese knitting which causes irritation to my neck and feels like trapped in a machine :) and causes you sweat in hot weathers. No wrist pain with hook tips since the hooks pull the yarn angle of pulling the yarn is not important anymore. I am surprised why the general knitting community is so unaware of this and nobody mentions about it rather people share so so many videos on how to purl easy way with the regular dpns or circulars.
@@nonamenoname2767 thank you so much for sharing! Necessity is the mother of the invention! If you like to purl with the hooked needles, try to use the knitting pin instead of placing the yarn around the neck. It might look like a machine but it is a well oiled machine!
@@AndreaWongKnits thanks for the recommendation yes I tried it as well the thing with pins is that they pull your sweater and the tension is not as genuine as when having the yarn around my neck so I changed my style back to continental. For others this may work I find portuguese style very neat by the way. Another thing is that it is much easier to do decrease increase with a hooked tip so less stress on the wrists. Happy knitting to all🥰
