    I’ve been running in Hoka for about 10 years. I got interested in Hoka after I got into running Ultras especially multi-day racing. I’ve run in most iterations of the Bondi line-up. The Bondi 6 is my favorite. I know it’s a heavier shoe? But after I had a knee injury in 2010 I needed a shoe that had a lot of cushion. The Bondi does a great job and goes the distance. Many of my ultra friends use Bondi’s also. I’ve run many sub 3 hour marathons in these shoes and multi-day events. I’ve been able to push the Bondi line-up to around 800-900 miles and that about the upper limit unless you add shoe goo to some of the outsole. Worth the money and goes the distance.

    At 61 and still doing short runs daily, needed a shoe that cushioned the wear and tear on the joints. Was avid ASICS buyer for past 4 years, did the research found Hoka Bondi 7 with huge cushioned soul, with a knee that’s had 2 arthroscopes these shoes are great!!! Yes a little heavy but have given new life and confidence in running and speed. Fitdads 50 Plus approves 👍😎

    Thanks for your review Seth. I stopped running since many month, now it's time to run again. After any kinds of shoes analysed, i decided to choose the Bondi 7. Hoka are my first loving shoes. Wow, not as heavy as you can described these, very very cushioned, more space for my narrow feet. First run confirmed the choice. Note: the stack height is less than a Nike Alphafly (lol).

    Started with the Bondi 5 and never looked back! As many have said it is like running on clouds! About to buy the 7's today! I have and will be a lifetime Bondi fan until something better comes along.
    The 5 was my favorite. It was a much softer shoe! I think Hoka did something to the Bondi midsole to make it more durable!
    I am a weightlifter (As a hobby) and am 6'0 245. So I need these shoes! I also work outdoors and wear them for work!

    I ran in the Bondi 6 and returned it immediately after one run. It was too plush for me and my feet felt like it was just drowning in foam on each stride. It also gave me pain in the soles of my feet. However, it is very comfortable for walking and that's it. I just bought the Clifton 7's a couple of weeks ago and the softness of the midsole is perfectly balanced! Bought them for easy-day runs.

      I tried both the 6 and 7 ... the 7 did Not have that walking on clouds feel at all..only a slight bit of give but nowhere near as much as the 6..Having only tested the 7's in store, I actually own the 6's and am trying to get used to them... I wanted max cush and got it but these are strange feeing shoes that do not feel effortless to walk or jog in..they absorb Ur energy as well as impacts but do no offer any energy Return to give u a springy ,forward moving ride..they remind me of walking on the beach where it Takes energy to do so and also to keep balance... they are soft but i dont like them at all ..the bondi 7 may have been a better choice or perhaps maybe not even a hoka at all...these are suppossed to have a 4mil offset but they feel like my Heels are sitting lower than my midsoles and thus it take effort to get these monsters moving,,they also killed my heels and hurt my instep area..how can such a soft shoe be so unconfortable?

    I normally wear stability shoes, but as i wanted to try a neutral shoe and as i was also very interested in HOKA i recently bought the HOKA Bondi 6. I really like them, the energy return is good, they feel very comfortable and it felt my legs were less fatigued after a run. So i will probably try the Bondi 7 later on. I haven’t tried a really long run yet, so maybe i will try another model from HOKA. I also ran a 10km race lately and i ran a new pr in them.

    QD I won a pair from Hoka and I use them as my daily shoe and my road running... I'm a big guy so trying to look after my knees while I continue to lose weight, so these are fantastic... I've started to feel they're possibly a little too cushy for short road runs (5km) my thinking for this is my other favourite are my Challenger ATR 5's which feel a little more connected to the ground and hence seem to go faster...
    but they're not great on bitumen... So I'm going to try my Clifton 7's again for road next time...

    I weigh over 200 pounds and so the Bondi 7 protects my knees and gives me plenty of cushion when running on hard pavement. The grip is not great on wet conditions. The upper is very plush and comfortable and it is well ventilated. But I do not sense any energy return or bounce. The shoes feel pretty dead in that regard. These shoes are purely for shock absorption. But they do the job. The material and build quality seem very good after several months of use.

    Hey Seth, I feel like you should create a formula for the weight score. Something like stack height in mm/weight in oz. the higher the number the better. Obviously the Bondi is going to be heavy because of its stack height relative to a less cushioned shoe. The real question is: how good a job does this shoe do as being cushioned while staying light?

    I just got this shoe yesterday night. I'm about to take it for a 5-7 mile walk. It's my 3rd pair of Hokas in the last 3 months. I have both the Speedgoat 4 and Clifton 7. I mostly bought the Bondi 7 for work after they stopped letting us wear Crocs 🥺. I'm really hoping the Bondi 7 keeps me comfortable through my 7-10hr shifts. I must note that both my Clifton 7 and Speedgoat 4 are both "wide width" but, the Bondi 7 feels a bit roomy out of the box without having ordered a "wide". My favorite Hoka is my Speedgoat 4 thus far. The Clifton 7 I can't wear more than 5 hrs straight at before it slightly begins bothering my feet a little, yet for my normal walks I'm ok. I probably need to break in my Clifton 7s more. As reference I'm 36 yrs old, female, 5'4, 222 lbs. I originally bought my first pair of Hokas (Speedgoat 4) in late January 2021 to start hiking on avg 5 miles a day for my weightloss journey, they felt better after hitting 25 miles on them and much better after 80 miles. I'm down 20 lbs since then so, both of my "wide" Hoka shoes especially the Clifton 7 feel more roomy. I was recommended to try out Hokas especially if you're a larger sized person (over 200lbs) and they have been for the most part amazing shoes. Hope this info helps anyone 🤗

    Not a Hoka fan but not because I dislike the shoes. I require a 10+ mm drop with 12mm being ideal, due to a long history of achilles issues. Also, you might be missing out on some good shoes simply because you feel they are too "heavy". Personally I don't care about the weight of training shoes, it's flats that I prompt me to break out the scale. I'm not terribly fast (ran a 1:16 half last year at the age of 52), but I do pay attention to the weight of racing flats. Trainers simply need to keep me on the road uninjured, and comfortable regardless of weight. Don't care if my trainers weigh 9.7 oz or 8.9 or 10.1.

    Just picked up the Bondi 7 as I’ve been looking for a good wide running shoe. Decided on the Bondi vs the Clifton on the premise that the extra cushioning will help reduce pain on my knees. I only do 20 minute / 3 mile runs every other day so figured I would prioritize cushioning over something more fast. But curious what you think about the new Cliftons.

One side note on hoka shoes though. I think they are a bit inconsistent regarding the eva density. I own several clifton 7s and 6s and they differ alot from eachother in softness. Feels like a bit of a gamble every time i buy them haha. Love from Sweden. Your channel is great. Watched hundereds of videos 😄

    I just got my HOKA will use them at work in the medical office. That’s the purpose. I read they’re excellent for knees and back issues. I paid 145. Because I had 5 dollars worth of points accumulated with Zappos. Let’s see how these work. I’m tired of buying expensive shoes and sneakers. I can put together all the money spend for years and years on Dansko and sneakers

    Omg I just order my first pair Bondi 7 I'm excited hoping to get comfort. I tried brooks ghost 12 they are ok but they lack the comfort. I'm a 4E in with so I was excited that hoka bondi has it. I use Dr. Custom orthotics cause suffer from very bad heal and arch pain. Finding sneakers with max comfort in 4E is hard i wanted badly Brooks Glycerin however they only come in 2E and I tried them and they are to narrow. Anyway I'm going to try these Bondi and I hope I will love them.

    I bought this after learning the Brooks Hyperion Elite 2 is only good for 2-400 miles. I find the Clifton 6 not providing enough cushion ion for 20 plus km runs. Hopefully this Bondi 7 will be my daily long distance trainer.

    QD: did not like the Bondi personal. I tried them to help with knees and softer landing and they were not a good fit for me. Swap for Rincon and effectively wire the sol off those in 3-400 miles

    The Bondi is in the top 3 shoes I’m looking at right now. The others being the Triumph 18 and the 1080 v10. Being 6’5” and 215, I don’t mind a heavier shoe, and need good stack under my forefoot.

    Ironically I just bought this shoe in a women's size 9. I bought it for the heel cushion. I was exhausted after my first run and I think the reason is because of the weight of the shoe (as you describe in this video). After about 25 miles in this shoe, I am getting used to the weight and enjoying them.

Now I looking for another Hoka shoes who can handle for my daily walking and work. I think I wanna pick up the Bondi 7, couse the shoes have thick out sole, but still have bouncy feeling.

    I picked up the Bondi 7 after your first impression, 150km into them and they’re great! They’re my daily trainer and Long run shoe right now. They’re tough for running in the rain, but dry weather they’re good.
    Also in Canada they cost 179.99 so your $150 isn’t that bad imo 😂

  • @giovanbattistafichera8439
    @giovanbattistafichera8439 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It all depends on the weight and speed of the runner. For a guy like Seth, a shoe like this is almost unnecessary, as he's a light runner. For guys like him (i.e. advanced, lightweight runners) a Clifton 7 is already enough for long runs.
    On the other hand, a runner that goes slower, pounds harder because they weigh 80kg and over can use this shoe even for harder efforts.
    Also, dropping weight would probably mean losing durability. Let's be honest, if you're in the market for a shoe like this, you're either a Seth looking for a pillowy shoe for recovery or REAAAAAALY long runs or you're a heavier person looking for something like a more structured and durable daily trainer than the Clifton 7.

  • @rygi23
    @rygi23 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I hope the outsole is better but it doesn’t look better, unless the rubber is somehow different. Yes the cushioning will last 500 miles but my Bondi 6 outsole showed significant wear in the forefoot prior to 100 miles. Other than that it’s a great shoe. Also, I don’t care about weight if I can hardly feel my foot strike to pavement. Their shouldn’t be a weight penalty for the most maximalist of shoes.

  • @sohobrad9554

    I’m 160 pounds and these are a brick. I’d hate them but, right now, this is the only pair of shoes I can wear other than Nike Next% and they’re costing $1/km to wear. To explain: My plantar fasciitis got out of hand last year. I went from an easy 50 miles/wk to a tough 25 miles/wk. I’ve tried about a dozen alternatives, including every Hoka. These shoes are 3+ ounces heavier than my usual minimalist shoes, especially Newtons, so they feel verrry heavy. But they don’t aggravate my left foot. I can put 10-15 miles without major aggro. The alternative, Next %, is a remarkable cushioned, lightweight shoe, but at $250 for a 200 miles shoes, they are expansive to wear - and, perhaps, too light for Max training value. So, Bondi it is. At least until the PF clears up.

    So guys I have a question about these shoes. I am a respiratory therapist and I’m up and down all the time. I’ll be wearing these at work. I am heavy. 325 lbs 6’4”. I currently wear the NB 1080 v10. It’s great, but it causes a hot spot on the bridge of my foot when my feet swell towards the last of my 12 h shift. If not for that I would buy the 1080 v11. These look like a good choice. What do you guys think? And thanks for your thoughts.
