- Ghostbusters: The Video Game, edited and compressed into a 3 hour 30 minute 'movie' edition.
Fully re-recorded and edited from scratch with all real-time assets in true 1080p via the PC version of the game at max settings and with 2x Super Sampling Anti Aliasing.
No upscaled 720p console version here!
Set two years after the second movie and featuring the voices of the original cast in one of Harold Ramis' final roles before his death, Dan Aykroyd has described the video game as "Essentially the third movie."
This is an extended cut with additional incidental dialogue and background details.
Pacing has been affected as a result, so this is for the more hardcore fans of the franchise.
Please note that some cutscenes, specifally all of those that are letterboxed, are in fact pre-rendered CGI videos.
These videos were rendered at 1280x540 by the developers and so have only been upscaled with some very slight cropping at the edges to fill a bit more of a 16:9 frame.
Some scenes have had their audio adjusted to try and improve on the worst of the lip syncing problems and various other tweaks to dialogue audio and colour balance.
It's not perfect, but I've tried to make this the highest quality 'movie' adaptation of GhostBusters: The Video Game available on the internet as of 2016. - ภาพยนตร์และแอนิเมชัน

Three things!
First, the reason this is called "Remastered" is because its the second time I made a 'movie adaptation' of the game, and its a massive quality leap over the first one. This was long before an actual remaster of the game was announced.
Second, just for the record, since it was one of the most commonly asked questions about the original, Winston *is* in the game. :P
Apart from Ernie Hudson's name in the opening credits being a giveaway, Winston himself shows up at 0:28:00
Third, I apologise that a few sections of the video have been muted in the order of between 10-20 seconds. This is due to copyright claims by the music division of Sony in 2019 and, rather than just using ContentID to claim ad revenue as is the case with certain video sections of this, they decided to block the entire video world wide.
So it was either mute those sections, or no one would be able to see the video at all.
Hard to believe people don't know that, especially if they've played the game. Winston(who is an employee) actually has a life outside of the FireHouse

This is Ghostbusters 3 with ALL the original cast even Harold Ramis before he died. So I'll always consider this even if it is a game the 3rd movie.

I only have one issue with this game and it’s an entirely personal nitpick: it doesn’t make some reference to the twinkie bit from the movie, at least not that I’m aware of

EDIT: There's also a vending machine in the Sedgewick Hotel that's Doritos branded that got the same rebranding treatment in the remaster.
This game was a home run 100%. Felt like a real Ghostbusters experience throughout the entire story mode and the multiplayer was alot of fun. Just a shame they couldn't continue it even more

I like that Winston has a lot more screen time and talks a lot more in the movies even though he became a ghostbuster and part of the crew i feel like he didn’t have much time to shine like i got the feeling that he still felt like a rookie but in this game he seems like such a veteran and he’s pretty talkative
In the first Ghostbusters movie, before facing Gozer, Winston had only been a Ghostbusters for 2 weeks. After they beat Gozer they were sued until they were forced to go out of business. Then five years later, Vigo happened, and after that, this game. Winston hadn't had enough time to gel with the main three until after Ghostbusters 2, and you see that he has found his place with them in this game.

I consider any one who's a fan should watch this before Ghostbusters afterlife and it's sequel since this is technically "the 3rd movie"
@@AlexLopez-oz3ci I honestly see afterlife being more a parallel timeline to Ghostbusters 2 and Ghostbusters: The Video Game. The movie only references the first movie and makes no mention of anything after that.

Well Frozen Empire references afterlife and it references ghostbusters 2. Fun fact, ghostbusters afterlife references this game kinda with mentioning no ghost activity since 1991, when this game is set. So it kinda is all self referential 😊
Two moments gave me actual chills in this game:
1.) The children's section in the New York library. The voices from the Black Slime...
2.) The moans on this Shandor Island, during the bit in the Black Slime catacombs.
I know I'm a bit late, but I agree with the first point. The children's library was super unsettling, especially when you think about what happened there. I didn't find the catacombs terribly scary though. However, screw the maze. I hated the maze. All the whispering around me really put me on edge
@@gavinziozios1431 Oh no, the Catacombs weren't that scary per se. Just that weird moan in the distance, just before you drain the black slime from the area. Kind of weirded me out.
To add on, its not just moaning, there are actual voices speaking. Especially in the catacombs, when they were asking if they should attack know, and another voice telling them to wait....

Seriously, the scoring was a character unto itself in the movie, and they used it to great effect in the game. There were some moments that just came out so much better because of that classic music.
It hurt not having it for the 89 sequel.

That part always made me sad. Like, you hear their joy and sadness. How they miss their mothers. And you hear the little boy say hello and goodbye...oh my heart to those kids. 😖
I’m super impressed with how similar all of their voices have remained; usually when people age, their voices get more gravely, or hoarser, or deeper.
Even the dialogue is delivered more like they used to talk, and not how they typically speak today.

This really is the third movie. I think the fact that it's in video game form is even better. What's better than watching a movie? Actually feeling like you're inside it. I just can't believe they got all original actors to lend their voices. The writing is just as good too.

I'm wondering if this can still be considered canon. I choose to believe it is despite Shandor's role in Ghostbusters: Afterlife - a phenomenal film by the way. Everyone should go see it in memorial to Harold Ramis. They did right by him.
I saw it yesterday, been binging all sorts of ghostbusters media since. I think they just sorta cherry picked some bits from past stuff here and there to add more lore and stuff to the new film.

Seems Doritos was a big sponsor for the game since there is also delivery truck with the logo on the side. Problem with the vending machine is that it is just a soda unit with the name added to the front, which wouldn't work IRL since the interior slots are too small and only hold cans.

My one and only complaint about the game is that the "new kid" looks like he could be Ray's twin brother.
They weren't very creative there, and it would have made the game way cooler if they gave us a character creator to make our own new ghostbuster.
Since the character doesn't even have any dialogue, the model could easily be replaced by someone else.
Games like Saints Row and Soul Calibur have been doing it that way for over a decade, and i think it would have greatly improved the game experience for many people if they could have chosen the look of their ghostbuster themselves.
If the game didn't use pre-rendered cutscenes, I'm sure they would have been some kind of customisation.
The reason for pre-rendering in-engine cutscenes was for the facial animation technology used.
Any time in this video you are seeing letterboxing, that's because the cutscene is a pre-rendered video rather than being rendered in real-time.
As it is, the Rookie is intentionally about as generic as you can get and, of course, un-named.
The Rookie model is actually based off of a real producer who worked at Sierra, Terminal and Sony approached him about playing the part and he agreed to it.

I recently watched Ghostbusters II again after finished the game and I noticed something that I just have to share. When Lewis suits up towards the end of the film, did anyone else noticed that Janine put him in one of Egon's suits?? Considering his size I would have thought one of Ray's, maybe even one of Venkman's would have fitted him a lot better (Egon is one of the tallest and Lewis is way shorter)....Something tells me that she's still carrying a bit of a flame for good old Dr Spengler and is living out a bit of a fantasy with Lewis..... It's been bugging me for ages and I just had to share my thoughts.....
I see where you’re coming from. Yeah , Janine did put him in egon’s suit. But her relationship with Louis didn’t last forever since in the comic I read online when Louis and Dana get possessed and with Tiamat, Janine eventually dumped Louis and he left town after they broke up and Louis met his cousin at the airport

Too bad they couldn't bring back Rick Moranis and Sigourney Weaver into the game, it would have made the game a bit complete. But still good game, both version.
The story as I'm aware of it now is that Sigourney Weaver didn't want to be involved due to previous negative experiences she's had taking part in video games, in particular the Alien franchise (bear in mind, 2009. Long before Alien Isolation).
She changed her mind once she found out Bill Murray was actually on board, but by then the game was too far along in development to incorporate her.
Damn shame.
Sigourney Weaver still acts, she's just not high in demand anymore.
+Nick Sorenson Moranis don't like to repeat a role, much like Jim Carrey. And he don't retired as much people still thinks, actually he is picking roles he would like to do, that's why Moranis doesn't appear in tons of movies currently. At least, Louis has an office desk on the game with a note apologizing for his absence after the events of Ghostbusters II.
I think that franchise was the only one he reprised more than twice.

Watching my brother play this game gave me nostalgia. I mean it felt like we were in the '80s when it comes to this game, both the Wii version and the X-box 360 version.
And this version takes it to a whole new good perspective.
Who used to play this game to just destroy stuff and see how much the damages add up?
I just did a run on Steam with the specific intent to unlock the achievement "The Destructor" (complete the game with more than $3,000,000 in property damage)

This remains officially better than Afterlife. Not that Afterlife is terrible, but this is a better Ghostbusters experience.

I think this could lead up to Afterlife. This is set in 1991. No ghost sightings in 30 years... leads to 2021. When Phoebe is standing in front of the dates at the temple, she was blocking one, but it is clearly about 2021.
So... was Shandor in this game? Maybe... or, someone/thing claiming to be Shandor. The skull of Gozer can easily be a fake, to cause intimidation and fear, and to hype them up.
Thus, the game can easily fit in, and lead to Afterlife.
My take on it.

@@TheDWB They don't get a mention, because they wanted things simple. Afterlife cannot simply please fans, it has to attract new ones. Thus, ignoring those two simplifies things, and makes the point of entry easier.
So you might well have later films mention them in passing, making them canon.
@@horseradishpower9947 this is a good point at least for gb2. I was kinda miffed they didn't even have 1989 on that wall of dates. I think what happened to shandor in the game makes it mostly incompatible with afterlife and frankly it was pointless even putting shandor in the film. We can probably wrangle it into still being canon though.

And lots of fans hold this in high regard, and honestly? I think the game should still be canon. It really fits in well, and you can imagine this being the catalyst for Egon doing extra research, and then going to Summerville.
Still better then the 2016 Ghostbusters. It sucks that the Ghostbusters franchise has gotten such poor treatment after the second film. It deserved so much better.

@@gjtrue Sadly it makes this game non-canon which did a way better job at handling Gozer and Ivo Shandor. Afterlife for me just rehash the same story we already saw in part 1 and gave us nothing new. I really wish Hollywood would move on from these franchises and trying recreate what the first movie did.
@@BOND19951 It doesn't necessarily make this game non-canon. Afterlife takes place in June 2021, and this game in 1991. "There hasn't been a ghost sighting in 30 years" could be right on the mark, or ghost sightings could have stopped in 1992.

We just have to hope that ghostbusters: afterlife gives him a heartwarming send off. Even though he’s gone now, we will always continue remembering him and his legacy that he gave to ghostbusters franchises. Even though some of us never got to meet him, he will always still be here with us in our hearts
For those raising the issue of why this wasn't made into an actual film, please read this:
Aside from this being a love letter to the fans, and Bill Murray's reluctance, I believe Dan Aykroyd mentioned this script alone is worth more than one movie. Dan compared it to the Lord of the Rings series. If you think about it, imagine how much money and time it would have demanded. Nevermind Bill Murray's angle. Not to mention, think of how much society has negatively changed. The whole political correctness, the reenactment of the Civil Rights Movement, because people can't or refuse to remember history, and a lot more issues. Remember, this takes place in 1991. A WHOLE DIFFERENT time. So different, it's like another world.
This will always be considered one of, if not the greatest game I've ever played. It is an absolute masterpiece. And I'm convinced its greatness will hold up over time just like the movies have.
