The C6 Coupe’s exterior design pays homage to the C2’s styling. I have owned C2, C3, C4’s, C5’s over 40 years. My favorite Corvette is my current 2009 with it’s wonderful 430 HP LS3. Unbelievable value.
John, Stephen here again. Im still in awe of your comment about the C6 paid homage to the C2's styling. Looking forward to my future 2008 or 09 C6 manual coupe with that wonderful LS3!
It does have cruise control, it's on the blinker
2:24 "The Corvette does not have anything like smart key access system [...] It does come with smart key access"
Yeah after that I closed the video lol this guy is a dumbass
@@tyronsreekley876 fucked up 💀💀😂🤣
I disagree. Not every middle age corvette buyer is having a midlife crisis, these cars are just more affordable when you're that age.
Man I still love that interior to this day
That’s why I want the older corvettes, they are more cheaper than the new ones and you still get a good amount of hp
i think that low to the ground part is my favorite thing about it.
I have watched many videos on the c6, and I just love the smile it always puts on everyone's face when they get on it and go through the gears....now that I own a 2012 with a 6 speed....... I get to smile too.
That smile you had at the end says it all. This is one FUN ride, and can get up to 30 MPG on the freeway in the real-world if you need it to. It's rated at 26 highway. That's not bad at all! Can't wait for the C7 =)
You have come a long way since this vlog. Congratulations.
8:08 how does he do that acceleration and not get an involuntary grin on his face?
I have a bit of an addiction to flooring the throttle and going fast so I absolutely have NO business driving a Vette. But I sure want to! Excellent review as always Sofyan.
Great review! This is one heck of a car!
Old school 2theRedline review!
Spot on review...i have a purchased new 2008 c6 z51 manual that i daily drive to the tune of 134k miles so far...and its everything you said as well as utterly reliable...gm s 300k validation process made these cars utterly reliable ...so good Im having a hard time saying goodbye for a new c8...looking forward to your review of the c8 z51 fe4
First time viewer I REALLY ENJOYED how this fella shows the car, i felt he gave an honest showing. I'm in the .arket for a 2008 C-6
Those glasses did bot age well broheim
i cant believe that you didnt freak out on the first acceleration! I eould be freaking Out and pushing myself into the seat! And great video as usual. Would you buy that for yourself if it was a lot cheaper?
Thinks for the review those are my dream cars.
Cruise control is on the turning signal
This C6 does have cruise control I just got mines 4 months ago & I’m enjoying every bit of it💯
Looking at one right now. Thinking about pulling the trigger.
Just picked up this EXACT car! Amazing car
Cruise is actually on the turn indicator like older Tahoes, Silverados, etc.
Well i rode in a 2008 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible in Silver. This is my dream car. So for my 18th birthday in 2008 my dad suprice him. By Ranting a Corvette for my birthday that year!!
Ranting? You mean renting?
yeap
Dog
Cool, did he just rent it for your birthday or for a few more days so you could drive it more
Nice dad. Very cool and thoughtful!
I remember when my dad had a 2008 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible in siliver with the black top on it. As a rental he rented and we had it for my 18th birthday. And we had the 6 speed auto.
I had the same one but didn't have issues with the spoiler hitting. I loved the car
Dude...86 the goofy glasses.
Great review, there is a smart access, you need to activate it from the DIC options menu and can have the car unlock and lock automatically. They use an assist spring on the clutch, most enthusiast remove it to improve the feel. I agree the interior is not the best, fortunately the price point allows people to address all of it's short coming to make it they way you want.
Did you try competitive mode?
Love your videos, have a great day
While looks are subjective. We have to disagree on your "barely" any hp claim. 430 hp is plenty quick in a car that weighs 500 lbs less than a Mustang or Camaro.
FYI, Cruise control is on blinker stalk.
Great review..thanks for share.
My old boss had one. It was insane to drive on a hill filled road and going around curves was insane too. But sadly he got it sideways and slammed into a house on a rainy night and totaled it. It had a aftermarket navi, exhaust and hids. Insurance gave him something like 28 grand for it. Only had about 40k miles too.
Not a clamshell hood. The clamshell was on the Fourth Generation 1984-1996.
Otherwise good review. I like your car review videos. Keep up the good work.
How much horsepower would be good for a car like this or any in this class?
Sofyan, did you enjoy reviewing this car? Lol I don't care of the flaws on these cars. Your only paying $49k for a almost Audi R8 fighter. Great video!
Love my 08! The air dam on the bottom is actually made to bend and fold so you shouldn't have to replace it unless you really rip it hard over some bumps or dips
I have this same car and I love it!!!!!!! I want the new z06 w/ 650 HP but it's out of my budget...:-(
what is that blue box that always in the trunk of the cars u review
C6 best looking corvette ever
Yeah...sweet car! It does have cruise control and it is integrated on the end of the blinker switch. That thing is a multi-function motha! Also ... that shiny luggage cover in the back ... not stock...someone must have fashioned one as the stock one is a dull fabric. otherwise nice job on the review.
You can walk up to the car unlock without the key just got to have the key in your pocket. This car had cruise its on the left column stick push button. Horrible review. That model can come with leather dash. But you don't buy a vette for the interior. Both windows in 06 goes auto down. Lol some missed facts here.
I was thinking the same thing bro. 2010 Grand Sport owner BTW.
His shit is broke
Chad Speeds moral is don’t review without researching it first. Makes you look dumb.
I think the one you drove had a wrecked clutch, because they're normally pretty heavy and engage low
My dad misses his '09. That was a pretty damn well rounded car for the money. Its really just the fit and finish that pissed me off. However, I think GM will fix the interior for the new C7.
Never have really been a Vette fanboy but I wouldn't mind one if i could afford one. They look very nice, and the Mustang looks very nice. But you can tell they are two totally different vehicles. 430 is pretty decent its not super special but its not too bad.
Sorry if I sent you two comments... I don't know if the first one went through, so I'm re-doing it... I wish this guy was reviewing either a 3LT with two tone leather & navigation, or a 4LT package. Those interiors are much better than this base 1LT equipped car. To the poster of the video... The Corvette didn't copy the Cobalt steering wheel. The C6 has had this wheel since 2006. The Cobalt switched to this steering wheel in 2007.
Great video! Good job.
I think this is a 1LT. The interior in the 3LT is a little nicer
Can you guys do some Minivans? (2013 Chrysler town and country touring,2013 Toyota Sienna LE,2013 Dodge Grand Caravan SE,SXT OR CREW will be Well Apreeciated) THANKS!
Fantastic review.
Stock exhaust in this video??
if i had a choice between this or bmw z4 what would u think??, or if i had a choice between them or a bentley what do u guys think please give me an opinion.
are you fucking stupid? who cross shops a z4, vette and a fucking bentley?
Clutch engagement is not right at the end of the pedal, I just drove an 08 corvette with 18k miles, it was mid pedal, but it engages well below 2k rpm
white sunglasses.....really?
it was 2012
Mlg
You know there's a hidden key inside the keyless entree you have to press the line in the bottom and pull the bottom... And the only way you use the key is in the back right on top of the license plate
lol this is cringe worthy after seeing all the new vids
do you watch top gear UK sofyan?
hello, why avoid C5's 4speed automatic? what's bad about it can you tell more because i think i want it... thanx
nothing, just manual will give you a better sports car feel and you have more control.
I had an 01 automatic it was awesome. I traded it in for a C6 with a manual. I miss my automatic. Don't give a fuck what anyone says about a Corvette you want. Piss on the haters, buy the automatic if you want it. The ones that hate on the auto probably are rolling in a Ford Tempo. Haters will always hate, buy the car for what you want. I'm stuck with the stick and let me tell ya, it's not that great, it gets old very fast, especially in traffic. People who hate on autos never had to drive a stick in traffic.
+Bogusław K Aside from the Manuel VS Auto argument, the newer (C6 VS C5) auto transmission are much better, which is the point i think he was trying to make. Theres nothing really WRONG with the 4 spd, its just that it is old technology. That 4 spd was used in the C4 corvettes in the 80's, just outdated. With the newer 6 speed auto you get both better fuel mileage, increased acceleration, and a more usable powerband. Not to mention the electronics that tell that transmission when to shift are much better in the C6. The car will be more willing to downshift (and do it more quickly) and also know when the best time to upshift is. Its just a matter of much better technology. Today's duel clutch autos are FAR superior to the C6 6spd auto as well.
Actually, the main reason why mostly older people drive a newer Corvette is because most of the younger people can't afford one. Unless you live in warm climates all year, you need to have a second car as well. Especially if you have kids, which would mean your wife has to have a car as well. By the time people are able & can afford a Corvette, the kids are already on their own & the owners are older.
AMEN!!
when anyone wants to drive a sport/performance car, it's stupid to have a need having a premium interior. come on people, when you do racing or twisty road you don't who cares. all your need should focus on performance
ikr
people buy the car for performance, and not interior quality
or at least i do
Brother Stop reeving the engine off a dry start😫
He doesn’t know shit about our super cars
Is the roof removable?
Yes and it conveniently stores in the rear hatch.
Don't worry about the turn radius, that's what the right pedal is for.
more control? Most modern sportscars have automatics because they can shift much faster than you could do yourself. The six speed auto should work fine because you can shift back with the paddles before a corner.
I was looking at 2014 mustang gts to buy but they want 22 to 25k for a decent one. I had no idea how cheap c6 corvettes are. I can get a really nice one for 20k. I’m definitely trading in my 05 mustang gt for a c6. Definitely getting another manual too.
Kevinb1821 rented a 2020 Mustang GT auto for 300mi to go pick up my 08 C6 LS3. Ford was crap in many ways. Not in same solar system with an older vette lol
You should see the newer knight screen 10.8 for this car it’s 2k and it makes it look like a McLaren interior a Wi-Fi TH-cam Netflix screen that also controls the climate
this guy just hates on vettes , a 50k car that can smoke a 200k exotic , ill take it even if it has rocks instead of seats .
I think he's actually going easy on the seats. I love Corvettes, always have, but those seats are a joke, and the interior is a sea of black plastic. I'm glad they came up with a proper interior in the C7
He's not wrong. I know a guy who owns a 2009 with about 20,000 miles, and the driver's seat already needs re-foaming. There are squeaks and rattles galore, and the finish on some of the interior plastics are showing wear, but, as he said, you forget about the warts as soon as you dip into the go pedal. This is a pretty accurate review.
I am a owner of the same exact car as this but I don't have the Zo6 rims I have the original chrome rims
hahaha I have to agree with Jakeman, my 47 yr. old uncle about a 2010 Corvette after well sadly separation and most definitely hit a midlife one.
He loves American so Porsche was out!!
Is that seriously the cargo cover? At first I thought it was just someone's blanket they hung up there.
I actually like the Corvette, at least GM does a decent job with them and it's a car with a lot of history to it.
n777ua Really? I've seen tons of Vettes and Camaros back in Asia. And Firebirds once were pretty popular in the 80's too. Maybe it depends on where you live.
Great Review Of 2008 Chevrolet Corvette. 😀
The 4 speed automatic is just fine. Not everyone wants to shift or go to the track. The interior is what it is. You made mention of its poor quality numerous times. Most of your comments about the C6 were unfairly condescending. I have a 07 4 speed C6 and it's a fine car because it's achieved what it was meant to be.
The cruise control is on the turn signal stock.
great review, your hair looks a little bit different now though lol
The cruise control is on the turn signal stalk
Why is it bad to get an automatic?
Cruise Control is on the Turn Signal Stalk. I can see it at 11:41
The interior comes with the trims one choose. Obviously the higher the trim, the more elegant interior.
Ok, I was just wondering because I know gm cars have had horrid quality in the past but with this I think i would be able to overlook the gaps/cheap switch gear.
Dude is surprised at everything!
thinking getting 05 c6 with 150k miles. not sure if it still runs strong and have plenty live on the motor. but LS motors are bullet prove. still I not sure I can take the chance getting it. cost is $15k should I get it?
Yeah, get it. People are so afraid of high mileage cars. Just learn to work on it yourself. Do some research and find inexpensive parts suppliers. Shouldn't be hard to come by with these cars. All my cars have been very high mileage and I've never had an issue. I had a 330,000 mile Ford Explorer, 190,000 mile 3000GT, 160,000 mile 3000GT, and a 188,000 mile e46 M3. Expect a few fixes, but it's honestly not bad. You can buy a fantastic car at a fraction of the cost and repairs generally won't exceed the value of a lower mileage vehicle. Just spend the money to get an inspection done and you will be good.
good point, I'm hoping it's 08, because it will have LS3,6.2L. none the less it's still a good buy, the car is currently selling at a dealership.
ALSO the 2013 Nissan quest SV
where you cruising at 1300 RPM ?
Yes, mine runs that rpm at cruising speed. I can get 32 mpg on long trips.
The C6 Vette is really nice. They remind me alot of Bimmers in the sense that your paying for the badge and for the motor. This generation vette really is bad ass tho. I mean the base model is putting out 400hp and 400+torque and with the super low suspension and sleek body, there's not much out there that's better for the money.
I just saw one for 25k with 17K miles! what the Hell....
One other mistake, you were referring to the Ford GT, not GT40. GT40 is the legendary race car, and way above the vette. Good review though
Sir........stfu
you can unlock it without the key if you have 3 fingers contact
Maybe the 2008 Corvette "competes with Ford's GT40" except for the fact the car wasn't called the GT40 it was called The Ford GT, it was only produced in 2005 and 2006, it had 110 more Horsepower and cost roughly $100k new(today worth over $200k more than an 08 Base Vette) but yeah other than those SMALL things it competes with it...
Most of the comments on his other reviews are rather intelligent and insightful. For some reason, the Corvette comments stoop a bit.
It's not, don't worry. It's a GREAT car. My mom just bought one last week and I'm f*ckin lovin it!!!! ;-)
The engine sounds "pretty" good? Bro you gotta rev it to 6000 rpm to hear it.
no backseat in the vette, and driving it in the middle of the afternoon!??! WTF!??! *jokes.
I lived in Asia for a year...the only place I saw a Corvette was during my time in Jakarta indonesia. None in Tokyo Beijing Seoul Taipei - Asians and a Corvette is quite a bizarre mix, admittedly.
I just bought one and like iam 6foot 2
$43k base brand new in 2005!
No one touches the dash like a child
The dash materials may be soft, however, some of the other plastics such as the window switches or center console feel awfully low grade. They feel flimsy and brittle essentially, what you find in a lot of sub-compact cars. The fit and finish is also not great, as the gap are wide and uneven. Interior quality is more than just a soft touch dash.
wow, this guy's look has not aged gracefully
Well now in the year 2023. A C8 Corvette now gets 3/4th respect a Ferrari gets. Wow times change.
Door will open without using key fob if you have it on you just use your hand.
