BLENDER 3.4.1 Crashes with Texture Painting

- Blender crashes several times while texture painting. I tried every thing from painting in the sold view to disabling modifiers but it kept crashing.
Another issue is when painting certain areas in the viewport, it seemed to be unpaintable !, so I had to paint it in the image editor.
I hope you share your suggestions about how to fix these issues.
My Laptop is Dell Inspiron 15 7577 (i7-7700HQ, GTX 1060 Max-Q)
Export the mesh, I used fbx but anything will likely be ok. Reimport it, reconnect it all in the shader editor with original texture. You should be able to paint without a crash. Cute model btw :D
I did exactly as you said, and it worked.
to fix this
go viewport
unclick gpu subdivision
levels view to 1
render to 1
hit save no more crashes i have used this from 29.1 to now still no crashes
they need to be unclicked off for good
It happened to me and I thought it could be the material, I disconnected the node and tested it until I found one that stopped.
I exported my mesh to a new blender file, reimported it again to my project file and the issue was fixed.
You can try find any gaps/holes in the object you paint. Recalculate outside/inside with Alt + N. Fix UV Maps after that. Hope this will help
Actually I solved this issue later on by exporting the mesh into a separate blender file, and reimporting it again to my original one, with reapplying all the modifiers that I deleted before exporting, and that solved my issue, but how and why? I still don't know. All I know is there is a problem in the mesh which I didn't find it yet. But can you tell me where can I find recalculating outside inside option in the menus? I just don't want to use shortcuts, and thank you for your help.
@@aliamir85 You can turn on "Face Orientation" in "Viewport Overlay" in the top right corner. Then you can go to "Edit Mode", and there will be a menu in the upper left corner, below the "Layout", "Modelling" section. Then "Mesh -> Normals" (I'm in Blender 3.4). Or you can change the spacebar function instead of "Play" into "Search" for faster workflow (if you remember the name) . The "Face Orientation" will help you know "Blue is outside", "Red is inside".
@@cat_mellows thank you bro
@@cat_mellows I know the face orientation and normals, and it was fine for my mesh in the video, but I thought you mean by (recalculating) that there is an option that checks the mesh for any holes or errors, I think there is some misunderstanding.
@@aliamir85 Oh, then I don't really know how to fix this crashing one and for all. Maybe they haven't fix it yet
I set to material and crash crash crash. 😭😭 How to solve 😢 evve crash
Try to install the last version of blender, or install version 3.0 and change the virtual memory. Read the comments in this video it may help.
@@aliamir85 yes i am yousing letest virtual 3.0... i am yousing From 1year. 7daya ago. I chand Hhs to SSd. for best experiment. 3 day ago i installed new blender. And evvee crash and crashed 😫💔😫😫😫😫😫😫 i spend 2000₹ for ssd 255gb.. 😭 i thot i west 👀🙃😫😭
And i have laptop 4 gb ram 256ssd. 1mothas ago i have hdd 256gb not crash laptop. But now charsh and crashedddd.m
my blenders from 3.0 to 3.5 crushes when cleaning textures from photogrammetry using clone stamp. textures 8-16k, every my action adds 1gb to blender's Ram memory occupation. after blender reaches 24gb in memory it crashes. (I have 32gb). So I have N panel opened in tool tab and a task manager on second monitor. when It reaches 20gb I press "save all images in n panel tool tab" and then Shift Control W. it saves and reloads blender file and blender did not crush and ram occupation lowers to 1-2gb so I have 15-18 painting strokes to next resave or crush. It also crushes when sculpting in trim lasso or trim box. If one know how to make it more stable and avoid resaving after 20-30second of work let me know
Found on one forum temporary solution for my trouble painting 16k texture - set in blender system preferneces undo steps to 2 so I have only two undo steps but blender occupation in memory do not get higher then 7gb. it become obvious - must be default undos 50 steps do not fit in 32gb of ram with my big texture size
Many blender crashes solved on future updates.
Supposedly this happens when you use the boolean modifier. It happens to me and I've used the boolean modifier.
I used it yes, but i applied it to the mesh before texturing
@@aliamir85 I used it to make holes in a bunch of pieces of my mesh and it crashes the second I click using paint. Supposedly they're gonna fix this in blender 3.5, which comes out in 3 days.
@@clockFox09 well I think this is the issue then, the boolean modifier as you said, because I used it to this mesh only and it is the only one which causes crashing while painting, painting the other meshes will not crash blender. But it seems to crash even when applying it. I actually solved this issue by exporting the mesh to a separate file, reimporting it, and adding the subdiv modifier again.
@@aliamir85 I don't quite know how to import/export meshes, but I'm not going to learn yet because the crashing thing should be fixed in 3 days when 3.5 comes out.
@@clockFox09 I hope so
My blender is crashing when I just switch from solid/wireframe to rendered/material preview, how can I fix that? Everything were great since I installed it for the first time (December 2022) but since yesterday I can't even switch to material preview mode...
Ok check this link, read the comments carefully, there is more than one fix for your issue
www.reddit.com/r/blenderhelp/comments/11i0qa4/blender_crashes_when_i_switch_to_material_preview/
I think you should also update to 3.5 if that did not fix your issue
@@aliamir85 I tried this and I have 3.5 version, nothing has changed :(
@@schmeichelthegoat201 try to open new file and check if the issue is fixed or not. If the issue is fixed then it may be due to some problem in your project textures or meshes. If you open new file and the issue persists, then actually I don't know what should you do. Uninstalling and reinstalling blender again with resetting all startup defaults may help. You should also know that my issue in this video was due to an unknown problem with one of the project meshes, so I fixed it by exporting the mesh to a new file then reimporting it again, that fixed my issue, so you can try this way, it may help you.
@@aliamir85 I uninstalled and installed again, nothing changed, it's crashing even if I create a new file, I also get a crash raport, but I can't find issue of crash on blender website :(
It looks so complicated. May be if you try to update your drivers, or even format your laptop will fix the issue.
Have the same problem.
Try to export your mesh to a new blender file without the modifiers, then reimport it to your project file, and apply the modifiers again. That solved my issue.
@@aliamir85 thx bro
