100% agree, going vegan, has nothing to do with not wanting the flavours/texture/taste. I just don't want to pay to hurt an animal. So some alternatives are amazing. And your recipes are some of the best 💚💚💚

I woke up one morning with the words clearly spoken, ‘You wouldn’t do it to your cat, so why do you do it to other animals?’ That’s enough for me. Love your vlogs. Great recipes.

Thank you so very much for saying that if your reasons for going vegan are ethical, craving the texture, etc of meat isn’t a factor. Perfect answer to people who say “well, if you want meat so much…”.

I really enjoyed this video... thank you... I decided to go vegetarian at 5! My mum was very supportive, but she had three other meat eating kids to feed so often she would do them a meat option- bolognese and for me she would do the same but with "vegetarian" mince.. i grew up that way! I dont understand when people get so extra about the word "vegetarian meat/vegan meat" why does it matter!!!! I am so happy that i am now 30 and havent eaten meat since 5, it really gives me happiness and my conscience feels good.. my italian husband and i, and our two children are vegan now.. i really appreciate video's and recipes like this.. my kids and my husband really feel satisfied with this food! ❤ dont worry about the plebs who feel the need to be pathetic! Thanks for your work!!!! ❤ Jaz (in sunny Sicily!)

Best cooking video ever Maddie thank you. I’ve made your sausage rolls and love them. Tofu is so so versatile. How anyone could say they don’t like it means they’re not using it properly. Non vegans love to say “why do vegans want to eat meat alternatives” 😅they just cannot understand that millions of people haven’t gone vegan because they don’t like meat (some do obviously) but it’s beyond their comprehension how people could give up eating animals for the sake of the animals primarily and the planet and health. It’s such ignorance and really is getting old 🙄

Thank you for this. I initially went plant based because anytime I ate meat, I would have digestive issues later…and it didn’t matter if I cooked it or I ate at a restaurant. I had already been lactose intolerant for about 30 years so it wasn’t that much harder to remove the rest of the animal products from my diet. Looking for different recipes from various vegan channels, I’ve been introduced to the lovely Earthling Ed, so animal welfare and environment have become reasons for further cementing my reasons for not cheating and eating animal products again. But with all that said, yes I miss burgers and nuggets, so these recipes are much appreciated.
Also I continue to giggle when you show your cookbook reviews and my love letter to you about measurements keeps being shown.

It is always good to know that behind every food craving is a reason. You crave it because it is what your body needs. As a vegan of course you do not want to eat meat. So why do we crave meat? You are not eating enough protein. It could also be iron-deficiency. Or B12 deficiency. Or a zinc deficiency. Lack of omega-3. Not eating enough calories. Muscle wasting. You are started to sport more. For example I crave chicken liver once in a while. Then I know to look up chicken liver and search what it contains and I know that the body is in need of those nutrients as these are found in chicken livers and if I would eat them my body knows that it will get what it needs. Cravings are always good to listen to and follow up. I also recommend to include all the taste in your diet as a lack in the 6 taste can also create a craving. I recommend to take chlorella and spirulina as a vegan. Spirulina contains iron, chromium and vitamin A. Chlorella contains vitamin B12, vitamin A and iron. A B-complex is also recommended. It is not simply as a vegan that when you crave meat to make something that represents something that looks like meat its taste, texture or flavours, there is a deeper meaning behind it. Putting limitations on your diet has as consequence that you can easily miss out in nutrients. Eat an organic, freshly cooked, seasonal diet and as colourful as possible. Make it count! The whole year you will need to adjust your diet. Eating well and being honest with yourself is a key. If you change your lifestyle, your diet also need to be changed accordingly. A vegan diet is not always automatically a healthy diet. Good luck everyone with meat cravings. Plantbased foods are always better as we do not want to bring any suffering to our companions in this lovely world.

Just thought if this idea, if you have a potato ricer, cut the block in half, put in ricer and GENTLY squeeze, enough pressure to squeeze the water out, but not hard enough to squeeze it through. Would anyone try it, to see if it works, as I don’t eat tofu.

I don't miss meat as much as I miss the things that meat goes in! So finding substitutes is great. Do you find that these reheat well? I always find that fake meats and even tofu can turn kind of hard and dry when reheated.

    • @MadeleineOlivia
      @MadeleineOlivia  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

They’d be best fresh! But the unsausage rolls will reheat fine (or you can store them in the freezer unbaked and pop them in when you want them), and the black bean meatballs will be fine the next day. The vegan chicken may dry out a little when reheated

Loved this! And as a vegan of 9 years, it gets so boring when people say "why do vegans try and replicate meat, when they don't eat it, what is the point" And you're right, the point is, most of us grew up eating animals, and liked the taste, but when you realise how awful the process is, why would you want to pay others to kill animals to eat, when you can eat so many other things, that taste really good!! I was a huge meat eater, but also loved animals, and the older I got, the more I realised what a hypocrite I was being, as would never harm an animal or want them to die for me to eat. So easy to be vegan now, and your recipes prove that!

Im not vegan, but i have definitely started to add more vegan meals because everything you make looks so delicious. Also, i love this video, because i love meat but i don't want to eat all the time- cost and environmental reasons. I laughed when i read the title 😂

Im guilty of being that vegetarian that stopped eating meat primarily because I disliked the taste of it. That said, I love the taste of most processed mock meats and am actively trying to move towards a more self-made or “whole food” approach where I can because of how much of them I eat. When you’ve been junk food veggie for so long, it’s tough thinking about how to eat in a more balanced way that makes use of the nutrients that are inherent to our foods

Just keep going bit by bit! Instead of using soy mince for a bolognese, use lentils. Instead of vegan chicken for a stir fry, use tofu. Instead of vegan cheese or ham for a sandwich, make my chickpea tuna, or use hummus, avocado and salad. Instead of frozen pizza, make your own! Do simple swaps for foods you’re eating now!

I've been vegetarian since 1992. I aspire to being plant based, but that's much harder. But I ate meat for 29 years because I didn't know any better. If I had never thought of meat as food, (which it isn't) I would never have known what it tasted like and never missed it. At this point I just eat the meat alternatives for variety. Cheese on the other hand is a really big problem if your trying to be vegan/plant based... 🙂

There are so many better vegan cheeses now! If you’re in the UK try out cathedral city!

No worries concerning the title - I loved meat too. And dairy.I still crave both and indulge in fake products when I just have to eat “meat” again. It always satisfies.

But we aren't babies, we don't need growth milk, only babies need it. We've been conditioned to think milk from a cow makes us strong, it's a marketing ploy. We wouldn't even drink human milk, elephant or dog. We've been conditioned to think it's normal, it's really not.

It's funny, I've been vegetarian for most of my life as I don't want to eat animals. Thus, I have never experienced a craving for meat.

Cross the bottom of the sprouts so they cook faster. My homemade sage and onion stuffing...1/2 cup of butter melted in a pan, add 1/2 cup of onion, couple stalks of celery, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/8 teaspoon pepper, 1 teaspoon dry sage. Mix this in a large pot with 8 cups of dry bread cubes. Stir in 1 cup (or more) of chicken broth. Stuff the turkey!
