    Great video! I'm thinking about applying to OTS to become a Public Affairs Officer. Now I'm going to listen to Capt. Buitrago's episode (ironically enough, I'm also in the DC area).

      getting PA through OTS is tough. it's not a large career field and OTS is super competitive. you're better off going to USAFA or AFROTC.

    Going through my prequalification paperwork now.. public affairs officer is my first choice and I know I will be amazing at it.
    Can anyone give me some tips for the afqt or what I can do to maximize these chances..

    Would you say it's easier to go this route (PAO) through OTS or to enlist first and then apply to go to OTS. I have already passed up my opportunity to utilize AFROTC.

      PAO is incredibly small. it’ll be difficult to get selected into that through OTS, period. not impossible, but difficult.

    Hello! Great video and quality. I have a degree in Mass Comm and am a professional videographer. I'm working with a recruiter right now to get into the AF. What would the steps look like for me to get into this career from regular enlisted active duty?

      you’re doing them. work with a recruiter and apply to a non-rated board that’s offering 35P spots.

    To become a Public Affairs Officer, does a person have to compete for the position, or does everyone automatically receive the job, after basic training?

    • @airforceofficerpodcast
      @airforceofficerpodcast  ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, you compete for selection.
      officers don’t go to basic training.

    If you already have Degree in public affairs. Does one still have to take office test for Air Force or do they look at your qualifications with public degree you have before they select you for public affairs office school?

      if you’re referring to the AFOQT, yes you still have to take and pass it.

      While public affairs professionals’ target audience is the American public, they are acutely aware of external audiences.
      I hope this answers your question!
