As an owner of a mk 7.5 fiesta ST I agree with the majority of your review but just wanted to point out a few things to your viewers:
A standard fiesta ST has 182 bhp as standard with an overboost function producing 200bhp when used.
The tuning package from Mountune increases the BHP by 15 over the standard car to 215bhp.
But by far the most important information which you never mentioned in your review is the security on these vehicles. The standard security provided from Ford is as useful as a chocolate teapot. This means thieves target these vehicles specifically as they are so easy to steal and its for the following two reasons:
The keyless entry means thieves can code a new key using a seperate hand held device in 30 seconds and drive it off.
The standard vehicle alarm has a flaw whereby if you enter through the vehicles boot it doesn’t trigger.
Anyone considering a Fiesta ST needs to at least take the following security measures should they purchase one:
Use faraday pouches for your vehicle keys
Purchase and use a disklok at all times
Relocate the OBD port in the vehicle
    Install a secondary immobiliser
Apart from the security issues the car is a great little fast hatch and petrol consumption is reasonable considering the performance. At worst all urban milage I get 280-300 to a tank and on long runs I’ve had as high as 540 (90% motorway at 70mph)

I love the Fiesta ST, even as a Focus ST owner. Just something about them. They look stylish, sporty and subtle. They drive better than most cars that cost a lot more, and still remain practical for every day use. This is a brilliant video, and as someone else commented, with the Fiesta coming to an end, the value will only go up. Same for the Focus as well.

Couldn't agree more with your review. Had a 2014 since 2018 and I absolutely love it every time I go anywhere. One thing I love is the (at the moment at least) reassurance that it's not rare. If I ding a door or scrape a bumper, I know I can get a cheap bumper from a car being broken down. Had my clutch and flywheel go at 95000 miles and cost me £1400 for the lot, genuine Ford parts as well. Thought about upgrading many times but nothing ticks as many boxes. Plus it really is one of those cars with the "soul" and "character" that every car journalist speaks of.

I put 16" wheels on my Fiesta ST and it smooths the ride out a lot without compromising the handling. Here in the US we only got the 5-door throughout the entire production run because they didn't ever offer a 3-door Fiesta here.
A limited-slip diff will make a big difference and it also stops the car from going through front brake pads so quickly since that's how the torque vectoring works. It's worth considering having one fitted whenever the clutch slave cylinder fails (which is a pretty common failure).
Turning off traction control makes the car accelerate MUCH faster even compared to sport mode, at least on the US-spec models. But you need to make sure you have good tires.

I got my ST3 brand new in 2016 and kept it for 6 years, never had a single problem or MOT advisory. The only things that needed replacing due to wear and tear were the rear bushes and the usual tyres and brakes ( although the tyres lasted surprisingly well). The ride quality is very tiring and the paintwork is ridiculously soft (stone chips ahoy). Real world mpg was about 38 average but would do nearly 50 on the motorway sitting at 65mph. Insurance was decent (about £280) but I was terrified to leave it anywhere due to how easy they are to steal. The quick clear screen is amazing though and the heated seats were great the 2 settings being a) did I just wet myself and b) I’ve just sat in napalm. I think it’s a great car, a throwback to ‘proper’ hot hatches when you had crappy interiors but a great driving experience. Mine was 17k new and sold it for 10k so depreciation wasn’t too bad. You can’t actually turn off the traction control completely just almost off. Great video, Matt!

Chose to have timing belt replaced every 65k miles. No accidents. As a daily driver I would have to go with 16 inch wheels and tires to soften the ride. Getting rid of the heavy stock wheels has a nice side effect of improving the acceleration as well.
The root cause of the choppy ride is the dampers and the wheel \tire set-up
The springs are fine in stock form. But a set of Koni Sport dampers or M

I have one and when I first test drove one I thought I cannot buy one because the ride is just so firm.
But I couldn't think of any other car that was as fun and yet compact and practical at the same time.
I bought the second one I tried and that was around seven months ago. I'm used to the ride now and don't notice how firm it is anymore. The handling is ridiculous you always feel like it'll get around any corner although in the current cold weather I think it's best I don't take it for granted.

Accurate review. Test drove a good example and was almost instantly sold by it (I did check for the 2013 recall though). You really feel the massive amount of torque low down in the revs, steering is telepathic, gears give this lovely clunk that feel like a gated manual. Keyless is nice also coming from older fords with worn physical keys. It's simple but beautiful. The stereo isn't as good as on Mk2 focuses, for example but it's certainly not bad.
200hp and lightness is all anyone needs on public roads. Anymore and you start getting torquesteer.
Though I will say the ride isn't as bad as is made out by many reviewers (As long as you aren't used to something like an old 5 series). I find it actually quite comfortable.
If you get a stock example, It's not actually that loud either until you put your foot down. You can definitely drive it gently as a commuter. I was very impressed by it. It's fun but not mental.
Pay for a good example you will have no regrets! Make sure to buy a disclock as these are very easy to steal unfortunately.

Great video and highly entertaining. I always found the Ford styling from this era looks like the creator of Transformers designed the interior. All those weird sharp shapes, round bulges and diagonal angles.
It's in complete contrast to the modern minimalist designs where you'd be lucky to get a physical button anywhere.

I had a 2017 ST3 from new which I ran for 3.5 years. It was a brilliant car, the local dealer was pretty poor but that isn't the cars fault. All of your comments are bang on, the ride got wearing at times, it was actually quite well controlled & didn't crash/bang but just way too jittery to make it "feel" sporty. With the suspension sorted & another 50bhp it would be hard to beat. I used to get around 40mpg, front pads were about 1/2 worn at 30k & front tyres lasted around 20k. The branding on the audio is just that, branding...Sony have very little to do with it & certainly have zero dealings with the ancillary parts like screens, probably Visteon knowing Ford. That being said it sounds great.

Beautifully sounding and creamy smooth V6, fast enough but not overpowered, comfortable and nice to drive, handsome looking but not vulgar like other cars in its class. Mine however was bought for £1800 on Ebay and as you might expect from and old cheap Ford, it’s riddled with rust and an engine fault. I’m in the slow and expensive process of fixing up. Fun.😐

Good luck with the project! Back when they were relatively new, a colleague of mine at the time had one (in blue with cream interior) and he absolutely loved it, so if you can get it running fairly cheaply you'll have got yourself a fantastic car at a knockdown price.

I think mine’s been dragged through the hedge backwards. The mileage is a little bit off from the previous year’s MOT when I got it and it’s had nine owners😳. I might repair a couple of the major things but then sell it on to someone who equally loves these cars (and with a bit more money than me😬) so they can fully restore it and lives a good life because otherwise some randommer would just scrap the poor bastard.
But yes, even in its dilapidated state, it’s still nice drive around in.

If not, it might be worth the investment, as you might be able to change the mileage so that it's at least a little higher than the figure on the most recent MOT (unless a history check says it's already got mileage discrepancies, in which case the software might be better deployed getting details from the various systems in the car, clearing any faults and rescanning...).

Absolutely adore mine, if you can look past the few things like build quality in some areas then honestly go for it, I've had cars of all shapes and sizes from 6 series bmws to mk3 leon cupras and this is one of my favourites easily, I specifically wanted a car that could thrash lanes without a fuss, be cheap to maintain and repair when needed, good economy and insurance all whilst keeping a big grin on my face and I can say it does all of that and more, they have a lot of specs as well for the price point you can pick them up at these days, there's a good reason they're rated so highly by most car reviewers and them being one of the most popular cars of modern times

180 BHP and 1100 KG, my Prelude was that 22 years ago. It too was a blast to drive. I sold it because:
    * The ride was hard, I could feel the white lines through the seats
    * The boot was too small and I needed a bigger car. I bought a Ford Scorpio Estate as a load lugger, but that had issues, multiple.
I still look at Mk 5 Preludes and think and then realise I'm 20 years older and have passed that stage of my life. Drive like a hooligan, yep, want to deal with the muscle pain the next day?

I really wanted to buy a new one of these in a couple of years or so but now Ford are killing the Fiesta off. It is unbelievable as they have become such a good car. I like small, light, manual, relatively simple and inexpensive cars as in my experience they are more fun while being cheap and reliable to run. I love driving but have that feeling in the pit of my stomach that the happy times are almost over for us as fun models disappear. Thank goodness I bought a motorbike this year. That should give me another ten years of manual ICE enjoyment at least.
