  • The 2022 Subaru Legacy Limited XT is an affordable, yet practical sedan that rivals the Toyota Camry and Nissan Altima. Now on it's the 7th generation, the Subaru Legacy offers an alternative to crossover for buyers who aren't ready to give up a family sedan, and by opting for a Limited XT you're receiving a good amount of performance but also refinement for the interior. So let's see how the 2022 Subaru Legacy Limited XT compares to competitors.
    Huge thank you to Subaru of Wakefield for letting me stop by to film this 2022 Subaru Legacy!

    Just purchased this car. I like it so far. I see plenty reviews about the CVT. It’s fine for me. The Paddle shift I can do without. And far as price point. Try to find a Accord or Camry with Turbo and AWD. You won’t. Accord doesn’t have AWD and Camry it’s either AWD w/o Turbo or Turbo w/o AWD not both. I like both.

    Thank you for the detailed and excellent review. I just traded my 2021 Legacy Premium for a 2023 Legacy 2023. Nice to know that the trade in price on a Subaru is excellent. I really do not think it is worth the expense to move to the turbo. The 2.5 gives you solid acceleration and merging on to highway is never an issue. I do not understand why every review complains about the Legacy being slow. However, you explained this perfectly. You do not buy a Legacy to burn out the tires upon acceleration. Pick up is fine and the ride is amazingly comfortable. You get a lot for your investment and you will not be disappointed. I think you captured the essence of the Legacy in the most objective manner.

      The desire for the turbo is primarily for safety in the western states. At sea level the 2.5 is plenty, but as you go up higher in elevation it looses a significant amount of power compared to the turbo. Merging to 70 in CO at 9,000 feet with 11,000 foot density altitude days is downright dangerous. But in general for a commuter or low lander the 2.5 is perfect in this car.

    I had a 2019 crosstrek. Didn’t buy it after lease because of the crappy 2.0 engine. I love my 2022 2.4 Turbo. It’s quick!! For a couple hundred I added the rear spoiler. Looks great.

    I purchased a 22 XT earlier this year. Safest, most comfortable, and reliable AWD sedan you could ask for. When this gen debuted for the 2020 model year, I was definitely intrigued. The design was what I wanted. Understated lines that don’t follow some craze. The only other sedan I was truly contemplating was the 22 Accord, however, I’m just not a fan of its design. I don’t think it’ll age particularly well.

      @@AllStars2525 I’ve got about ~10k mi on the odometer now. This CVT is better than average honestly. From time to time it can get in the way of the XT motor, but otherwise it’s inoffensive.

      I think it is the best choice in the mid size sedan. Subaru perfected the all wheel drive and you get a lot of features for the money. I have really enjoyed my 2021 and the ride is the best ever. And it has plenty of pick up without the turbo investment. The 0 to 60 timing is so dumb. I merge into highway traffic effortlessly. You will love the Legacy..

    We like our 2022 Legacy Limited XT very much and considered an AWD Camry but to the best of my knowledge it doesn't come at any trim level anymore with seat memory and that is a deal-breaker for me. It used to. If anyone knows differently about the newer ones, please let me know!

      I felt the same way when we were shopping for our 2022 Legacy Limited XT, especially because my wife is kind of tech-averse and it's her daily driver not mine, but it's worked out fine. She's had no trouble with it, and I did the 2023 screen update, which improved the functionality a little bit. We also haven't experienced any of the screen lag issues that some people have talked about. All that said, I 100% would have preferred a simpler infotainment system and more physical climate controls!

      It does come with a spare and it's a compact wheel, no way you're driving on it for longer than you need to especially when the car weighs over 3800 lbs.

    • @alextube1101

      They need fluid changes every 50k. Lifetime transmission fluid is a fairy tale.
      Use synthetic oil and change the coolant early. I mean there's still a chance she'll milkshake on you but that's a subawew!

    • @britishmalayasociety
      @britishmalayasociety 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Besides that fluid change though, CVT's have become much more reliable and mature over the years. If you're after an automatic, it's alright. If you prefer manual, there's always the smaller Impreza or WRX, and those, are excellent.

    • @mossmiller
      @mossmiller 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the '13 Impreza, and the CVT with paddle shifters is an excellent transmission. When shifted manually, it really takes off. One thing to keep in mind is that around 80k miles mine had the solenoid pack go out, a common wear item, which Subaru replaced under warranty. The car was driveable, but very sluggish. Took a few weeks to get it into service, but they do give you a loaner car. After 100,000 miles, you are on your own. But any automatic can fail with high mileage.
