Just an FYI - These units use a 2.4GH ...ONLY .... to those that use an ATT 5GH wireless router, - Quite a few of these routers ALSO CARRY A 2.4GH signal . fortunately mine did ( after researching ) . I had to go into the router software and simply " reload " the 2.4gh settings ( there's a button that says "reload" ) . I recommend calling ATT have a tech either walk you through or have them do it for you . THANK YOU VERY MUCH "This Smart House " for this Awesome video !
Just purchase this camera to replace my s40 which suddenly went offline 2 days ago. The s40 was my 3rd replacement from Eufy purchased originally in March of 2022. First 2 had a penchant for going offline with the 2nd unit suffering moisture intrusion in the spotlight lens areas. Got the 3rd s40 replacement in January of 2023 which was a refurbished unit in fair condition (Showed signs of use & wear with the front lenses being all scratched up) which as I mentioned went offline recently. After that warranty / exchange experience, I swore off Eufy products until I came across this unit deciding to try it. Amazon had it on sale so why not. I bring up the s40 because the build quality is the same, made from that matte porous cheap plastic that won't stand up to the elements. Just like my 2nd s40 that was replaced, the 3rd s40 has yellowed and become brittle from exposure to the elements. I own multiple EufyCam 2, 2c, and Pro 2 cameras (15 total) that are build like a tank that even when exposed to the elements (live in the high desert of SoCal) gets dirty but that is about it. Coupled with the flimsy mounting bracket and PTZ moving parts, I have little faith this unit will hold up exposed to the elements. I recommend installing it protected from the sun and mount the solar panel externally. On the plus side, it checks off enough boxes for me to keep it especially with the option of pairing with the HB3 to minimize or eliminate camera going offline. The detection seems to still be mediocre which is typical Eufy. Fingers crossed this unit last longer than 1.5 years. Mine is mounted protected from the sun and use the s40s old mounting bracket for the solar panel.
Thanks for the great video! Have you run it with and without the homebase? I’ve been reading some people say the camera seems to perform better without it. Thanks
I don’t know why you can’t just plug it into the 5 V DC charger and have it run 24 seven lots of problems with eufy and they’re connectivity and what works with what and what doesn’t work with what . It does not have 365° detection if you walk up from it and its default position from behind it’s not gonna know you’re there and so then you have to keep adding on cameras and all kinds of stuff that way Way over complicated. good luck finding the information the app is really bad not intuitive. Can’t find the instructions. I don’t know how to make it run. Just play the video one after the other you get it do this touch that that that sucks I want to return it days but I missed my 30 days. I haven’t found if the zoom lens can be just because it is never pointing where you want it to be pointing.
Thanks for taking the time to make the video. I have the S340 and Homebase 3. Things seem to be working fine except when there is motion, I am not getting a notification on my phone. I have notifications turned on for the app and in the settings . I'm obviously not doing something right, any suggestions. I have tested motion and when I walk into the field, the cameras light also comes on. Thanks.
Thanks for making it, Just have a question, I placed this camera on conner of my house & i have created Activity zones, Front of Drive away and front yard, If the camera facing front driveway, and i come in activity zone into front yard from other side but in activity zone, the camera doesn’t not turn around to front yard where i set another activity zone. please guide on it!
The camera only detects people and vehicles on board. But you can have it detect just motion, that should pick up animals but also moving trees. You have bears? Yikes!
No, but that is a good idea. I which that you could that. You set the default zone and if it detects motion, it will move out of that zone to track. If you are in the app, you can select a preset location, but it only stays there for 30 seconds or so.
Hi, thank you. If I live in a mobile home 16x80 would it be overkill having one in front, back, and both sides? My main concern with other cameras I purchased was that I'm unable to change out batteries now because of my age.
I would say it would be overkill. I would look at fixed cameras like the eufyCam3 and home base if you need solar powered cameras. Or their s330 pro if you can plug them into power.
Nice video mate. I’d want to swap the solar panel out for a hardwire connection and have 24hr recording with expandable memory. Don’t think you can switch to the 24h even with the hard wire
I got one of these recently and the dual lenses are pointless. You can't view both of them during event playback on recordings. It only works during live view and a battery powered camera is not designed for live view. This is a major flaw with the software because you can't zoom in to see a license plate or face. Also it's not smart enough to zoom with the AI tracking when the object moves away on the 1x lens to keep it in view with the 3x lens. This needs some software improvements to effectively make use of both lenses.
Can you help me if I send you pictures of my house? I’m thinking of getting the homebase with the two solar powered cameras, the s30 pro kit ? Plus the s340? Is there a way I can talk to you and get some good advice please reply and if you’ll help me, I’ll call you up so we can talk privately
. Many software options not available on my S340. I did not buy a "homebase" to get them. Returning my EUFY S340 after un-installing it will be a PAIN. Audible alarm setting will NOT stay OFF.
Bro i am really need your help I have 30 meter rgb led and i have a 5v 40A power supply how to connect them with wled with esp8266/esp32 please help me out bro love form Bangladesh ❤❤
What type of LED strip is it? I would say with that length, you are going to need to inject power at least once in the middle (at 15 feet). Check out Rob @TheHookUp s awesome guides. Has Eufy fixed any of their previously egregious security issues? Have any white hat hacker types made sure they are not sending data (including facial recognition to China still) because they were. Seems insane to install this into your home, no matter how great the feature set.
You dont actually want 5ghz for wireless cameras, even if it supports it. The reason being is that 5ghz wifi is a tigher band that sure can transmit faster, but the tighter wavelength struggles with distance and obstructions (walls etc). 2.4ghz is the better option for this use case useless you have outdoor access points littering your yard.
You are correct that the 5 GHz band does have more issues with walls and penetration. But the other side of the coin is that the 5 GHz spectrum is much more open so you can find a clear channel. 2.4 in my neighborhood is so congested it's difficult to get anything to connect over a decent range.
BEWARE: Had both since 11/2023. The last downloaded update on the S340 they intentionally removed some Features including Pet motion detection and cut motion detection range in half. Both without notice and just confirmed by customer support that this deletion of service was intended. How can they do this?!?! ALSO: they've cut the onboard memory S380 in half from 16gb to 8 gb!! This is all unacceptable!!
Had two s340 for about 5 days worked alright, then they started to play up. Rang Eufy, they told me to reset then sync again. Worked alright for two days, then the same thing. Rang Eufy again, told me the same thing. Don't bother.
This camera sucks 2 days ago there was police activity with three or four police cars parked right in front of my house and the camera did not even detect that they were there. It showed me a 5-second clip when they drove off
That's one of the core disadvantages of the battery-powered cameras. They will only wake up when motion is detected and then it's up to the onboard AI to determine whether or not to continue recording.
You are doing something seriously wrong. I have had a lot of security cameras and the S340 is the best. I also have some s330’s for special applications. Dig in deeper this is a great product.
lol, not the best because it does not even track pets , just detects them. When I uncheck pets detection, it detected my pet as human but did not track it. I ask eufy if they will update the software to track pets, they said no! Buyers just be aware these influencers don’t mention that.
You mean the AI tracking to move the camera? I think it is designed only to track people. But it will record if an animal walks through the frame (can confirm as I saw the neighbor's cat during testing). Only if you have the HomeBase 3. It isn't that we don't mention it, it just isn't a feature that I would need. But I will keep it in mind in future reviews.
Thanks though I don’t see that being a feature most would need or even want. I want it to follow people so I have peace of mind, animals can go about their business and I don’t need to know their every move
Let my dog out the other night - thankfully I was with her cuz as soon as she stepped off the porch a bobcat started growling and didn't stop until I finally took her in. That's when I decided to look into getting a security camera - figured it would alert me if another animal came over the fence before I let my dogs out. Thank you for bringing pet detection up - saved me several hundreds of dollars.

Thank you for the video. You made it easy to sit back and learn the features after I installed mine.
Super detailed review, learned new tips and tricks! Thank you :)
Glad it was helpful!
I have 4 of these, a E340 spotlight cam and a home base 3 on my house I love them
Does it overwrite the old video when the memory is running out like the way dash cam works, or stop recording when the memory is full?
Overwrites
Detailed review thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Good camera, and great review 👍😎
Thank you! I think it is a really great option for all of the features,.
Thanks for the great video! Have you run it with and without the homebase? I’ve been reading some people say the camera seems to perform better without it. Thanks
I'd be curious to know this as well.
Wow thank you so much for this video so informative. I just got my cameras in and able to follow this so easy. Again thanks.
What would be the wired equivalent for this? Bcoz this solar version does not save video 24/7 to the eufy home base
The only eufy camera that does 24/7 recording is the S330 Pro which I reviewed last year: th-cam.com/video/yxSQ_-ddJ7g/w-d-xo.html
I don’t know why you can’t just plug it into the 5 V DC charger and have it run 24 seven lots of problems with eufy and they’re connectivity and what works with what and what doesn’t work with what . Great information - thanks
Does it work with homekit?
does this have tracking recording
How many 30 sec clips before it starts overwriting old clips? Only 8gb right?
Without the home base, would the S340's "People" and "Vehicle" detections capture any wildlife ? We have bear and deer doing damage around the house.
The camera only detects people and vehicles on board. But you can have it detect just motion, that should pick up animals but also moving trees.
You have bears? Yikes!
Can any of the zones be scheduled? For example; schedule to monitor zone A in the evenings, and Zone B the rest of the time?
No, but that is a good idea. I which that you could that. You set the default zone and if it detects motion, it will move out of that zone to track. If you are in the app, you can select a preset location, but it only stays there for 30 seconds or so.

When first charging , is the light blue? Does light change color when done charging?
I don't recall 100% but I think it either turns solid blue or the light turns off. It should be in the manual.
super video - thank you.
Can it work with Home Base 2?
Yes
this version can store in cloud?
Yes you can subscribe to cloud storage.
@@ThisSmartHouse brother I tried and also checked the site.. It does not have cloud storage
If you open the Eufy app, then press the three lines at the top left and then select Cloud Storage. $2.99 per device per month.
You are correct but you cannot connect that to this model
It only has option to store locally.. I purchased and now am stuck
Nice video mate.

@@ThisSmartHouse It's not your fault by any means, I just can't get the alarm to mute permanently for one.

Like all Eufy battery powered camera, it will die in a couple of year. Since the battery cannot be removed, it is basically a throw away.
