    This is amazing! I've been downloading some recolours from Michelle but I quickly got overwhelmed by the amount of files I ended up with. I was like: "there's no way I'm going to put all of this in my game, it's going to make it so slow!" and I almost gave up on the recolours. Thank you for this tutorial, I'm definitely going to try it!

    brb merging and compressing my cc... Thanks Beth, this is really useful! And I hope everyone finds something they love as much as you love saying "naming conventions"! :)

    Thank you Beth for all the instructions, information and patience! You are doing me a great favor in explaining all of this. I do not know how long it is going to take me but as I have to start from scratch I will just take it step by step. I have just gone on pension and would love to start playing Sims 2 again. Greetings from S A.

    I can't thank you enough for this video. My files already went down from ca. 5000 to 3000 and I'm not even finished yet. Thank you and have a great day! Greetings from Germany 🙏🏼😊

    Thank you for the great detailed tutorial, Beth! I knew I should merge maxis recolours in my Download folder at some point even though I was quite lazy about it. However, your video has become a good push for me to do it. You explained the process really well! 🙌🏻

    • @TeaAddict

      It's so worth doing, merging recolours is completely 100% safe and cutting down on all those files (plus bonus, renaming them nicely) really does optimize the game 😊😊 glad you found it inspiring!!

    This is sooo useful! I'm at a point now where merging may be necessary... thanks to your discord mostly. 😜 Thank you so much for the guide! This whole series will definitely help new Sims 2 simmers everywhere!

    This is such a handy series :) I got so burnt out when I had to do this with my 23gb of CC BUT it was so worth it.
    Are you going to be talking about load order or anything like that?

    • @TeaAddict
      @TeaAddict  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey, glad you think so! 😊 Haha I know, it was such a task redoing my downloads folder when I did this but yes, so worth it!!
      In my experience load order only really matters with mods/hacked content, which we haven't really covered in detail yet. I plan to do a video on troubleshooting when things go wrong (e.g. mods causing different bugs) so load order will probably come into that video 😊

    I'm loving these videos! I'm still in two minds about redoing my downloads properly due to crashing in CAS when I merged some CC and I could not locate the problem.
    I also have a tip people might find useful when you have multiple folders in a download. If you put an * in the search bar, it will bring up every file in every sub folder. Then you can sort by the packages and remove them all at once. It saves going through each folder one by one. I always ended up losing my place. 😂

    • @TeaAddict
      @TeaAddict  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah that's really weird that you had the CAS issues 😥 like I said in this video though, in my experience merging at least your recolours (but keeping the meshes seperate) should be 100% safe

    • @DoubleDash7
      @DoubleDash7 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TeaAddict That was most likely the issue. I reckon I will do it one day. 😄

    • @TeaAddict
      @TeaAddict  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DoubleDash7 to be fair, I usually merge my clothing meshes in with the recolours lol 🙈 one day I'll have to redo my clothes with the meshes seperate - which should also cut down on duplicate meshes, which would be a good thing. I did it with hairs and saved sooo many duplicates!

    I'm plumping up my alien hood's CC folder and I'm getting ALL THE COLORS and this video is making me want to just merge them all instead of doing my usual picking and choosing. I did also get a wider design tool bar, hmm...

    • @TeaAddict
      @TeaAddict  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't tend to download a tonne of super colourful recolours for stuff like stoves haha, but after getting Anna's colours for that one stove in this video I was like.... HMMMM I like it! 🤣🙈

    Hi Beth! Thank you so much for all of the detailed info. BellaDovah and now your videos are staples when I clean up my downloads folder.
    I did want to ask - is it better to merge the files then compress? I’ve been compressing all of the files before doing a merge. I don’t think there’s a difference but I want to be as optimal as possible.
    Thank you again and love this series!!

    • @TeaAddict
      @TeaAddict  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! I don't think there's much of a difference either way? - I could be wrong, but I tend to merge then compress 😊 That might just be my habit haha. In a future video we will go through testing CC in game before merging (today I just showed the process with recolours so we know what it is) - generally I will test, delete anything I don't want, merge, compress 😊

    Learned a lot! Thank you.
    Only one problem: the Bulk Rename Utility. One way ore another, I can't select my Downloads folder inside the game. There is no option to go more levels below. Maybe it has to do with working on a Windows 11 laptop? On my pc with Windows 10 I had nog problems with the program (although it was a few years ago). I figured to make a folder on my desktop and do the renaming there. Any suggestions are more than welcome!

    Hello everyone! I understand I shouldn't merge any MASTER files. Are meshes Masters?
    I have some cc from Michelle (Tiny Living), and some Meshes have Slaves. Do I merge the Meshes?

    • @TeaAddict
      @TeaAddict  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I recommend keeping master meshes separate yes, although sometimes you can merge them without any problem. Other meshes (i.e. slaves / repos/ standalone meshes) can generally be merged yes 👍
