Thank you! I'm an anti Townies-and-Maxies extremist, and now that I'm getting ready for a clean fresh install, this tutorial is gold. I did a quick test on my old installation first. I played in window mode with the characters folder open so I could follow the creation of characters live! I also used CJ-ThereCanBeOnlyOneProfeessor
I used the SimsWiki tutorial for this and it worked just fine, but I didn’t know it was available for the university subhoods! I will have to download them soon. I’m better at learning things when I see it anyways. Thanks as always, Cindy!
Cindy you are such a gem 💎! I’m pouring my heart and soul into creating my first integrated hood inspired by the Urbz, I just realised the game will generate a bunch of townies that don’t really hit the vibe of the hood so this is hugely helpful!! Thank you!
Thank you so much! I have been so confused about how to get this right! No matter which tutorial I tried to follow I was ending up with Maxis sims. Your tutorial is the clearest and most helpful one out there!
Cindy, does this prevent the social class sims from spawning as well? I have the recommended Cyjon mod to prevent them from moving into apartments, but they still generate and wander around as townies. Thanks!
I followed the steps exactly, and even made a Backup, and an error popped up when I created a custom neighborhood saying "Application has crashed and will now terminate"? What will I do now :( UPDATE: If anyone else runs into this problem, you probably did what I did, which was 1. Create custom neighborhood (N004) 2. Follow this tutorial 3. It also helps to type up the Neighborhood summary in your notes so you don't lose anything and paste it into the summary when you create the custom neighborhood
Just found u. This video saved my life lol. Love you. Thank you very much. I'm from Germany my English is not very good but I understand everything what u said. It was very easy. 👍
Will it definitely not affect the default hoods no matter what, or do you have to load them all up first, for example load up all default hoods and add all the unis and downtown etc to them first to be unaffected?
This video is perfect, i FINALLY was able to make my neighborhood! although, about three weeks in, I noticed a couple random townies. Idk where they came from! any ideas??????
This is way less tedious then the way I was doing it, I think I'm going to change to doing it this method. The only thing too is for the pets EP there is two playable households in the lot catalog.
I will make a second tutorial about this someday. They shouldn't cause any problems as long as you never place them down and since they're in the lot bin, you'll never see them unless you want to.
Hi I know this is an old video so idk if you'll see this but will this method in any way affect any of the worlds I'm currently playing in? I just want it to apply to new worlds that I create. Thanks for the help btw!
Here is a question, Why only several of them. veronaville and strangetown are reasonable as they had nothing to do with giving townie, but what about exotic destination and other stealth hoods?. I just don't get it.
So... this might be a stupid question but, what happens to restaurants and shopping places? Are waitresses, DJs, chefs, cashiers and such NPCs or townies?
Townies are those sims like Meadow Thayer, Goopy GilsCarbo, Joe Carr, Ivy Copur, etc. NPCs are the maids, nannies, firefighter, baristas, butler, grim reaper and Mrs. Crumplebottom. This tutorial will only deal with townies. I haven't seen any mod that suppress NPCs though but I might be wrong.
Sorry, 🤦♀️ I forgot there's the anti redundancy (prevents multiple sims for every npc type), nostrayspawn, and npc expurgator (prevents witch, skunk, penguin, & pickpocket NPCs) but these mods will not eliminate all NPC in the game.
Hi there, thanks for everything, all your videos are supper helpful. I need a little help please, I used your video to get rid of that dumping townies in every time problem. But I want to keep the bin families that university shipped with, how do I do that?
Now that we have an empty neighborhood, is there a way to move families from another neighborhood in this new one without corruption ? 🤔 PS : It is very fascinating all the work you do on this game.. I have never seen this before, keep going !
Hi Coco! Unfortunately, no. It's not possible to move Sims between neighborhoods. However, there is another option. You can package them in bodyshop and reinstall them in your new neighborhood. It will just be their appearance - so you will have to go in CAS and create a NEW Sim - then choose their aspiration, personality, etc. again. Here is a video on how to package up your Sims to move to a new 'hood: th-cam.com/video/7LQO4aQdfUE/w-d-xo.html After you package them, when you open CAS, select the "premade Sims" and you will find the appearance of your packaged Sims there. I hope that makes sense!
@@PleasantSims Thanks for the answer ! I'm gonna take notes of all that I did like funds, skills etc.. And recreate it with my clones. @@PleasantSims Oh and I forgot something ! You should put the link of the simogical cat that allows you to create customed townie and stray pets ( Is " stray the good words for pets with no owner ? My english's not on point about that ). It can be very useful for those who are tired of Maxis ones but don't want their neighborhood to be empty 😁 And just one more question and I stop bethering you 😅 How to delete a neighborhood properly ?
It has to be a brand new game. Or you can just install a clean template for the premade 'hoods and it will work fine. But it won't work for 'hoods you've already played. They will stay just as they are.
I just started a new Custom World, finishing the first generation (about 2 Sims weeks in). My Sims have friendships with townies but no one is in a serious relationship. Can I do all this to delete my townies from my Custom World without having to start over with my Sim families?
@pleasant sims hey, would you know how to make the story book thing bigger? You know like when you screenshot in the game, and then you can make the screenshots into a story..it's so small by default. I would like to have this be bigger since I love making little stories
Sooo I did everything you said perfectly but for some reason when I load the neighborhood it doesn’t load “hobbies” magic” and all that.. did I do something wrong ?
Hi Cindy! I have a question about this tutorial. I made custom neighbourhood as you showed here, what if I would add all of the backups back, will it populate this neighbourhood with these townies? Or they are spawned only at the moment when you create neighbourhood? And one more question 😄 How to create my own townies for vacation destinations? Thanks in advance! Ps I love your channel so much!
They are only spawned during creation. If you want to add them back in, you COULD but it would be a huge pain in the ass. You'd have to extract them all in Sim PE, add them to a custom subhood, attach the custom subhood to your neighborhood, and then change all their names back. Here's a tutorial to make your own vacation townies: keoni-chan.tumblr.com/post/93056125207/lisag45-ive-gotten-this-question-a-couple-of

Thanks so much in advance, if you ever stumble across my comment!
Just curious, how many new townies did you end up with? The same thing has happened to me (I double checked everything too), but there appears to be only one townie that's spawned so far. They showed up after the mail person and Rod Humble visited after moving a new family in. But it came up with a notification message saying they were from the "Garden Club.." etc. So I wonder if something still triggers those particular townies to spawn. I went to a community lot to test it out further and the same townie was the only one to show up (apart from the NPCs). I double checked on Sims PE too, and they're the only townie in my neighborhood that's spawned so far.
Does anyone know if this is possible to do with Sims 2 Supercollection for Macbook Air? Would love to see if it's possible, I tried to follow this tutorial but the files are in different places and doesn't look the same when you open them, has anyone been able to do this on mac (with the app sims 2 bought on app store)? I have been able to mod it and download CC but this is just really hard to follow when the files doesn't look the same.
I hope someone can help me out. I tried disabling my stealth hoods but the game keeps loading the sim bin families etc. I even tried removing the whole folder from the Sims 2 system files, yet they keep loading the sims in all of my new neighbourhoods. I dunno what I'm missing, I removed the folders completely so I dunno where the game is loading those sims from
Wait actually I’m a little confused are you trying to remove the stealth hoods and get the townies to come back or add the stealth hoods and stop townies from showing up? From what you said I’d be worried that the hood you’re playing in will end up corrupted. Sims have two sets of data, one in the character folder & another in the neighborhood folder. If they’re running around your ‘hood but you have an empty character folder that will lead to corruption. Delete the neighborhood. Try to install a clean template of pleasantview (try meetmetoriver’s it’s great) and that might replace the files that seems(?) like they might’ve been overwritten/deleted when installing the stealth hoods. If doesn’t work I would honestly just reinstall :( ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS create backups for this game. It seems so redundant but the sims 2 itself is a ticking time bomb without doing anything to it.
Hello Cindy! Thanks for all your contribution to the community.
