Proper players and people, the pair of them. Relaxed, funny yet good picks. Jimmy would be in any side with Best but he’s too modest to pick himself. Glad Ian said it for him
Two absolute legends. Loved their show as a kid. RIP Saint and Greavsie. Hope you're having a pint together up there somewhere. By the way, love the way they are picking a ridiculously attacking team. Brilliant.
That team would have scored so many goals, and absolutely controlled the midfield that they wouldn't have been too worried about the defence. But what a defence they had sitting in front of Banksie. I'm fortunate that I saw many of these footballers play when I was a child. Greavsie in my opinion was England's greatest goal scorer.
Just smiling all the way through this. Absolutely wonderful together. Saint and Greavsie reminds me of being a kid who loved football. Wish I could have seen Jimmy play
Real happy days. That was when football punditry was very watchable and great fun. Not like today when it gets really boring as they try to get so technical and basically are spouting rubbish!!!! RIP both Saint and Greavsie you were two very special blokes.
I think at one point even Pele said that Greaves was the best striker on the planet after him . Greaves was an awesome goal scoring machine . Every defender in the world dreaded playing against him .
@Joel D ~ Greavsie was quick and able to go past defenders as if they weren't there. Could you imagine him playing today at his peak. Forget his 30 - 40 goals a season. It would be more like 50+ The balls are now much lighter. Modern boots are like wearing Hush Puppies, they're so light. Pitches are now pristine. When Greavsie played even top grounds ended up being mud baths. The modern game would give him an extra yard or more of pace. Seeing as he was quick anyway, he'd become unstoppable.
Magical listening to those two greats. Very sad they both passed away this year. Many special memories of them as players and broadcasters. Thoughts are with their families.
I’m trying to work out when this is. They talk about Cafu’s 4th World Cup-which would make it as late as 2006. Cafu’s debut was in 1990 after Italia 90 so possibly they are confused, but this would still make it as late as 2002. Had no idea they were still on tv at this point. Wikipedia says the programme finished in 1992.
Greavsie was my idol at school i had his name all over my school books and satchel ..I used to occasionally get bullied at school I was the only Spurs fan there because I live in the North West . we thumped Burnley and I got a hiding but it was worth it !
RIP Saint and Greavsie. Enjoyed their TV programme in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Sadly this was lost when football sold out to Sky and the Premier League. But that is a different story................ As for their "All-Time Best XI" it lacks one thing, a defensive / box-to-box midfield player. In the 1980s this role was fulfilled by Bryan Robson. Nowadays N'Golo Kante is the man for this job.
An impossible task. Only by breaking it down into decades could you possibly do a World's greatest X1. Was good fun though seeing these two together. I miss Greavsie on the telly
@ Norman Giller - Four great shouts. Duncan Edwards should have been destined for great things, unfortunately he tragically lost his life in the Munich air crash.
Saint and Greavsie were such a big part of my childhood, loved this show. May they both Rest in Peace.
Agreed, they were fantastic entertainment.
RIP greavsie.. Sadly these two legends now longer with us. I hope they are both having a pint together up there
I hope not! Greaves was an alcoholic.
@@golden.lights.twinkle2329Give him something non-alcoholic then.
No graphics, no whoosh sounds, just a static camera shot of two legends having a chat. Wonderful.
Love this.
What a so much simpler time and all the better for it. It was just like watching two blokes down the pub discussing footy.
I hate to do this, but this is quite recent.
@@Puppy-ew4be depends what you mean by recent. I think it's probably from mid nineties or earlier.
It would be after 2002 since they talk about Cafu’s world cups.
And Greavsie was himself one of the best forwards of all time
There is no one today who could do a show like these two legends
Nobody.
Sounds like zero prep. Straight in front of the camera from lunch, love it !
Proper footballers talking proper football, could be two guys down the pub not the over hyped shite we have to listen to today.
Like the way Greavsie just puts Besty straight in and then picks the rest round him
Same as Matt Busby did.
That's because GEORGE BEST IS THE GREATEST PLAYER EVER in my book!
@@johnhughes8466 Agree 100%
@@johnhughes8466 There's absolutely no doubt that Bestie was the greatest UK player ever. But was he better than Pele.
That's hard to call.
George Best was the greatest player I've ever seen. These 2 played in the same era as him. They both knew how good he was.
Proper players and people, the pair of them. Relaxed, funny yet good picks. Jimmy would be in any side with Best but he’s too modest to pick himself. Glad Ian said it for him
Best was a gutless wifebeating alcoholic that was washed up at 25.
Still miss St and Greavsie show every Saturday at 12:30
RIP Jimmy, you should have put yourself in
Two absolute legends. Loved their show as a kid. RIP Saint and Greavsie. Hope you're having a pint together up there somewhere. By the way, love the way they are picking a ridiculously attacking team. Brilliant.
Definitely, though that defence is rock solid too.
That team would have scored so many goals, and absolutely controlled the midfield that they wouldn't have been too worried about the defence. But what a defence they had sitting in front of Banksie. I loved that programme also it was fun
Saint and Greavsie were such a great combination and complement to each other.
RIP Jimmy. Lovely to see these 2 talking about the greatest players.
Both within months of each other
Legends RIP
Just smiling all the way through this.

Do you love the game now?
RIP Ian St.John
MALDINI????????????? Wtf?!!!!!??
RIP to the pair of ya...you were part of my childhood growing up in the 1980s..
Love these 2. Much missed on the telly! This is quality!

Now showing..Live from heaven. Happy reunion, Greavsie 😔
That will be epic.
The German man...that scores goals 😂
I could listen to them all day.

2 absolute legends..... greavsy is the best striker england ever had.
Greavsie is the greatest striker that ever lived 🌟
Heard about this guy from my old man, learned about his greatness today. Makes me feel like I missed an important piece of English history
2 legends laughing, smiling and talking football. Just lovely
So much better than the dribble today. Took me back to better times . Loved it, time is stealer of great characters .
Never missed them on a Saturday morning when i was a kid. Two humble greats with a unique sense of humour. Pure entertainment.
Same
But predictable.
@@seltaeb9691 Like finding a troll on a thread.
Great listening to people who knew what they were talking about picking a wonderful team of genuine world class footballers.
RIP Ian Saint John and the best wishes of health to Jimmy Greaves. Been supporting Spurs since they won the FA Cup in 66.
I think you'll find that was 1967 sir!!!
Everton won it 3 -2 against wednesday
Spurs never won the FA Cup in 1966 !!! Are you sure you support them ??

Jimmy Robertson and Frank Saul for Spurs and Bobby Tambling for Chelsea.

Absolute legends of football and tv gold Great part of my childhood. The good old days lol
“Banksy , you’re in ! Even with 1 eye 😂😂😂
What a team ! Magnificent players!
Loved this. I think this was the first football show that I watched regular
"We might do that in 50 years time, you and I."
Loved them both, great show.
What a player, what a man, and what a commentator, his knowledge was second to non, no hipe just pure knowledge and genius
RIP St. John #YNWA
Miss these lovely fellas very much. Hope you're having a good laugh together on the other side, lads. RIP
They will be, playing all the legends that they mentioned in this video clip.
Those were the days. Now we have to put up with Karen Carney!
What a team can’t argue with that
Two legends. RIP Saint, sad loss. ☹️. Hope Greavsie is keeping well after his health problems.
Sadly not.

Legends no other word for these 2 🙏
No debate from me John.
Two legends of the game I'm of a certain vintage that remember watching this show as a kid see yous on the other side gentlemen
The irony here - Jimmy Greaves is the greatest British striker by a country mile. Saint wasn’t joking about including him.
Second best, my friend, after Emile Heskey.

Rip Greavsie, hope you are having a good chat with Saint up there. Its a funny old game isn't it....
I can picture these two doing this up there now. Great characters, great memories. ❤
He used to smile too much 🤣
Neville Southall was an outstanding goalkeeper
I’d go along with that. World class was big Nev..
Yeah blinding
RIP to the both of you. I'm sure you are up there with all the football greats.
Omg saint and greavsie were fantastic
Jimmy Greaves what a humble gentleman, England finest goal striker would walk into any world xi. RiP 😎
There are so many combos of players these 2 legends could choose from.
I wonder who they would pick today? Not sure it would change to massively.
