- We've had this property for awhile now, but ya'll haven't seen it yet. We're going to try a new setup to try and navigate the hillsides, and cut out what we can - and then of course we'll go explore it!

A full exploration would be great. I'm interested to know if there are any old buildings, cars, etc. out there.
Derek, actually Jessica great find! Yes definitely we wana see more! You probably did, but always bring a chainsaw with you, ya never know if you'll need it. Loving dad, you are always thinking about your boys! As always, God bless and take care from your long-time California subscriber.
I say him and the boys should go explore the property
Criminal?
Probably nothing, he would of likely gone there first.
Agreed!
Never in a million years would I believe I would be sitting watching a feller mow tall grass.... but here I am... loving every minute of it!
Just don’t tell my wife, I coulda been mowin my own tall grass 😂
Right there with you..... But I lvoe it.
How funny we don't want do are own grass but we will watch someone else's lmao. But dude that Lil pull behind is kick A now I want one.
Too funny, but it's so true! If you have an older mowing machine like me, it always need to be worked on before I can use it again. With some slight complaints about having to work on it each time, you can get a little sympathy from the "Boss". Just a little advice from an Older Guy! Stay thirsty my friend!@@Afellarcouldprobablyfixit
I said the same thing! Then I found Connor Ward yt channel and been watching it every since!
Lets explore, your property is great. We really appreciate the opportunity to visually share it with you. Thanks.
Derek, love all the content you bring us! A simple request or reminder my friend, try to start taking more time off to rest and be with the family! You’ll not regret it! Just a suggestion from another fella that used to work nonstop :) great vid!!!
A guy just sat here and watched a video of another guy clearing some land...and gosh darn I'd be lying if I told you I wasn't entertained. If it works and pays the bills, is it really a dumb idea? Nope! MORE please! Also, Derek, you're a fantastic human, a great family man, and a master at creating content. I don't know how you do it but please keep it up!
Agreed 👍
I think everyone wants to see a full exploration of this property. It’s nice to see all your hard work is paying off for you and the fam. Thanks for being the best creator on TH-cam 👍
I want to see him drive that school bus out of there - lol
Never did I expect to sit here eating breakfast watching a video of a fellow mowing. And yet I did. Neat property!
A full exploration would be awesome!!
A full exploration would be awesome. I love seeing stuff like this
Good time for a drone. Very useful for surveying properties, locating roads, checking for unwelcome visitors safely, and discovering the terrain, among many uses. 👍🏽
Was just going to say this. And it can give you a general sense of the "corners" of the property. You need to know where yours ends and someone else's begins.
@@LisaMedeiros-tr2lz Yep you don't want to wander into someone else domain.
You could use a tracked, skid steer with a flail mower on the front. It would work great to open up that old road you found too.
It’s very cool you’re planning a future for your boys that will allow them to not have the stress of moving away and having to spend all their money on rent. Anyone that has the means should do this.
I'd love to see more explorations of that property. An aerial view (without giving away your location to maintain privacy) would be awesome too.
You remind me of a neighbor of mine when I was a kid. My Dad had some issues and wasn't around a lot. But this fella looked out for me and let me watch him work on stuff and help out. He taught me a lot, but mostly he just made me feel like I could do stuff. The world needs guys like you to keep us going the right way. Keep it up.
Your comment hit me in the feels, Reminds me of the man who taught me how to fish, God bless men out there touching young men's lives.
@@michaelgraves5320 Thanks, I appreciate you taking the time to post that.
Yeah , I had neighbors much like yours when I was a kid. I will never forget their kindness.
How many acres is this property ?
@@jimpetrasek9732 I was wondering the same. Must be quite a chunk of land by the looks of it.
Definitely would love to see a exploration/ journey adventure
Using a drone would be awesome for us to see the entire property also you’d be able to maybe find old buildings or foundations! Congratulations on your new property and looking forward to more VGG videos! 🇨🇦👍
A full video would be great. Land always holds its value, they don't make any more of it🇺🇲
What are you talking about
@@williamalbright8878 just what he said
Mark Twain
Hawaii is making it everyday. LOL
@@williamalbright8878 Maybe you should read a book, like Huckleberry Finn? That might give you a lead 😅
Nice to see different content from you Derek. Nearly 100k views in 5 hours of essentially a video of brush cutting pretty much confirms your ability to hook people with your personality and presentation. You could make a video about paint drying and it would be a winner.
Two Words.... Deer Hunting!! The stands you could set up. My My!
Let's do it! A full blown exploration of the property would be awesome.
We need more Lodge content. This is definitely a must do series!
Yes! Let's go exploreing.
Definitely need a longer exploration video of this property!
Would love to see a full exploration of this property. Also it seems like a perfect place for a small cabin to be built in those woods.
thats what I was thinking
This has all the promise of a full off grid getaway. Would love to see a hike through with all the family's reactions and an exploration of the old site
Looks like a great place for you and the boys and the wife to enjoy some hunting/riding. It’s really nice to see someone fight for what they want and end up with a life they can say they built on their blood sweat and tears. I hope someday to be like you Derek. Awesome job sir.
I will gladly fly down from MI some weekend and take over the mowing.
So satisfying 😊
You have come a long way from the little garage videos I watched years ago. What's great about watching you is your content keeps evolving and never disappoints.
I would be happy with a ladder duct taped camaro revival again!!! 😂
😮 Yes, let's explore your vacant property . Beautiful country! This will be very exciting! Thank you for sharing! 😊
Derek, you should put a metal detector on your wish list. With a property that big, and having a history of being occupied, who knows what you might find!
YES ! I want a full tour of the property, PLEASE !! LOL
Would love to see the property in whole! Curious on the acreage. Seems like quite a bit. Also love that you're doing this for your kids. You guys are phenomenal parents!
Go away.
@@pissoff234 you alright?
Definitely more exploration with the boys is needed. Great parents you and Jessica are, thinking of your kids in this way.
Don't apologize the content of this video was absolutely amazing and satisfying
I vote for full adventure of the place.
You and Jessica are fantastic parents Derek. For you to take care of your family in the manner you to by buying this land as a legacy for your child is so wonderful. We need more parents like you two. And a camping trip in the old school bus would be fun.
Heck yes! Full exploration would be too cool. Long time follower thinks you are truly rocking life. As a gear head, a business man, husband, father. What a wonderful role model you are, Derek. You provide a stark contrast to so much negativity in our world today. Thanks bunches, keep up the great work, and God bless you and your whole family.
ITS A MUST!!!
We want a spinoff show called Pistolgrip Hunting Lodge! Turkey and deer harvesting with the kiddos! Make it happen.
Full exploration would be awesome. Love that you purchased the land with your boys in mind. Like to know the history of that land
You are a lucky man. To have reached the success you have, and to have the family you have and live in the area you chose. Your hard work, dedication and love for and from your family is so satisfying to me.
A full explore of your new land would be great. Drone footage maybe?
I hope that was not a tick on your face towards the end of the video.
Keep on keeping on,
Neil :-)
Derek, you are the hardest working man in TH-cam. You're a one man force of nature.
I guess you've never watched an Andrew Camarata video before. ........He really owns a mountain and has his own castle, which he built himself.
A midweek bonus video.
I'm so happy that you and your family have been so successful Derek. You and Jessica have worked so hard people can see what a fantastic success you have made of your opportunity.
The cat paws on the windshield, so cool ! Man these videos are so cool. Reminds me of my childhood. My father was a great man. Cancer sucks and took him way too soon.
I think that is a nice chunk of land and a feller could clean that little road up pretty easily with some mechanized wood chopping devices make a better dirt bike area than the slop you rode last time, first thing I would do is
make sure there’s no squatters or bad medicine cookers you know, keep your small humans safe 👍
I would absolutely love to see more. Maybe bring one of them picture boxes you can fly up in the air. Love all your stuff Derek but I found this really interesting.
Great property Derek! Based on the size of the tree growth, I'd say you were following a logging access cut. I hope to see more of this!
I've recently subscribed to VGG and then saw some of the videos on this channel and one thing I've got to say is you and your family are truly blessed. Keep up the good work!!
Yup, totally gotta explore that road/ trail thing during daylight. Chainsaw and side by side will be your friend. My favorite kind of exploration!!
You found a revival back there man, how cool!
I’m so glad you are doing this for your family. The best investment is in family. Glad to see you happy to be home and I know Jessica and the family are glad your back. Love to see the whole property!
Been awhile Derek Was so awesome to meet youbst Duct tape Drags Back in September 2023 @Vice Grip Lodge
Wow quite a bit of Debris Cleared Derek 19:28 @Vice Grip Lodge
We bought 75 acres in Upstate New York and it has miles of trails and small logging roads on it that we need to repair and clean up. Some of the old logging roads are likely 50+ years old and in some spots the gravel/crusher is still visible. The exploration and discovery is so much fun. You and the fam will have memories for years to come.
Would love to see more exploration of the property. If you could get some drone footage of the property, that would be really cool too.
Never thought I would watch a feller mow grass for 30 minutes but i gotta !!!! I'm looking right at it !!!
I follow a few people who have grass mowing channels. They find yards with overgrown grass and grass spilling out onto the sidewalks and street, and more and then mow it all for free. It's actually quite calming and a good stress reliever. Some good channels I like are SB Mowing, Fill's Lawn Care, and Al Bladez, if you're interested in checking it out. Or you can just stick with the occasional mow by Derek🙂
Hell yeah ! m glad someone like ya'll bought this beautful volunteer land . Awesome
Finally, we want more Vice Grip Lodge 👌
Do the full exploration, that would be cool. Looks like a very nice property.
Full exploration would be awesome
You should have the land professionally surveyed, it will help you figure out where the build able areas are.
Yes, Derek, we would love to see your entire new vacant property in a longer video so please show us around and anything interesting or old you find on it when you can. Thank you.
It's an Old Logging Road notice you don't have very many big gigantic trees back there scratches on your rig adds character keep up the good content
Yes please full exploration. Awesome land.
VGG is doing very well!! Beautiful!
As a life long resident of east TN, "steeper than it looks" is always accurate 😂
Definitely would be great to see the whole family working that land. Derek has got to be the father of the year for the past 15 years running! Everything he does for the family, is wholesome and for the future success of the boys. He's a great admirable man.
Heck yeah. Looks cool
Definitely would love to see a full exploration video of this property!!!!
Love the cat prints on the windshield, the universal sign of a rural vehicle. Reminds me of being on the farm.
Would like to see a full exploration of the property. How many acres is it?
I thought the shop lions tracks reminded me of every vehicle I get in. I only have 9 right at the house and 5 need some work, 3 need lots
Beautiful land ! I would love to see an exploration video, if you ever get the chance. Can't wait to see the creek you mentioned. Just be really careful, it's dangerous exploring alone, accidents happen before you realize it.
I love this content as reminds me of my work at grampa Powell's Ranch for decades! Keep it up! Old cars, construction and land management are great man.
I use a standard steel fence post "T post" and slide a 4' long chunk of PVC pipe over it to mark the property lines every so often - works slick and lasts forever, can easily see where your properly lines are whenever you are out exploring!
What a stunning location, what a dream to have a house there, you’re kids are very lucky.
It would be cool to know more history of the land you have there. I would love to see a family camping/exploring trip. Time off with the fam is always good!
Thank you Derek for taking us on your adventure. That was awsome
You ain’t lying! Side by sides are going for more than cars!
What a beautiful piece of property. I would really enjoy a full exploration of the place. Man, I can see the boys having some fun there doing all sorts of things like hunting, building forts,(do boys still do that)? and just being boys. I wonder what the stream or creek looks like. Thanks for the adventure Derek. It just brought back so many of my Huckleberry Finn kid days.
Heck’s yeah a full exploration would be very cool!! You may even want to take a drone with you and record or check areas out before you go into so that nobody gets hurt be evil doers or wild animals…. Can’t wait to see what you do next, be careful!!
I really enjoyed the brush hogging and exploration, it would be cool to see you go back and explore more. Thanks for all the great video Derick
You bet. It’d be neat to see an episode of y’all exploring and adventuring on the property.
Should fly a drone up and see if you can find the creek from above, get a bit of an overview. Looks like a big piece of land.
Would definitely love a full tour of the property, absolutely flummoxed at how gorgeous it is
YES!!!, That is a very beautiful piece of land you have there.
Yes please do a full video of the property drone camping etc! Also love the content on both channels
I remember when u picked up all that mower equipment and took a tour of the facility. Nice to see it still in service.
Absolutely would like to see your property.
Property content was enjoyable to watch.. you've definately got viewers curious as to where that road leads!
you are doing amazing Derek, but you gotta take care of yourself better for your family. ease down on all the steaks and cold snacks a bit, so you can live longer to see how amazing your kids will do. i'm sure you wanna see your grandkids grow up and partake in your legacy. please do us a favor and stop licking those oil sticks while you are at it.
I'm sure a lot of people would be happy to see some more videos of the new property. Plus, you'd get to spend some time in the woods!
My parents bought 80 acres in Liberty Tennessee and while exploring we’ve come across some shady things. Learned real quick to “always be prepared”. Looks like a beautiful piece of property y’all have.
These days, there’s some that think they can use unused property to grow “stuff” or get rid of evidence etc. probably a very good idea to clear it out. I’d say Derek has something on his hip to take care of surprises!
Morning, you could use a Ventrac for sure.
New Holland C232 tracked Skid Steer with front mounted hydraulickly tiltable Extreme brush cutter. You can punch a trail pushing forward with one. You can sidehill track and mow down small trees without worry. It will drag dead old cars out of the treeline, uphill, in the snow, with no oxygen, easy. Had a chance to operate one just awhile ago. It was too much fun. The hydraulic brush cutter head swivels and floats with a flick of the wrist. You can pick it up and fold it right to the cab door.
Reminds me of clearing trails and fields on my property. I hunt and explore all the time on it. If you do not keep up with the maintenance of it, Mother Nature will try to take it back in just a few years.
Love this show for what it is. The background actual life of a person. The actual life a person lives is in and of itself a full time job.
A lot of folks use those hydraulic sidearm brush cutter tractors here in North Carolina too Derek. They also use them to trim tree branches growing too close to the side of our two lane roads.
Also if you can get a cheap Ventrac mower from an auction you’d be in business. If you can’t find one of those for cheap fill the tires on your little tractor with beet juice so it’s not tippy. That’s all the advice I’ve got from one fella saving a few bucks to another.
Hey neighbor. I won't scroll through all the comments so this could be redundant. I own XX acres in Williamson County (purchased for the now-young-adult 3 sons and daughter, 16 years ago). I'm a native but was raised in the hilly suburbs. Out where your ("new") property is, and where my acreage is, I'm told those cleared, serpentine strips around the hillsides, hollers and ridges are all "logging roads" from circa WWI and WWII. The hardwood varieties in middle TN served numerous purposes during the industrial boom that was the war effort. Hickory, beech, walnut, and of course tons of the state tree, Tulip Poplar, plus others - all suited to construction of everything from barracks throughout the SE, and all the way up to air-frames and carrier decks. That theory works for me. My "old roads" are now hiking/biking/jogging/horseback trails. If I was monetized, I'd have the fellers following me around on ATVs, I'm sure. But I'm even more certain that I'm blessed to own a slice of heaven and to have young'uns who appreciate the beauty and utility of owning a piece of dirt in the free state of Tennessee.
Nothing beats tromping around in the woods. At least for a while.
Derek HELL YES! Camp it and explore it, we'd love to see what you find 👍
Looks like a nice place to find a still.
That Swisher mower is designed to run to one side or the other of your tow vehicle so you don't have to run through all of that tall stuff with your SBS! Just pull some pins and the tongue will allow you to set the mower path out to the side! Check it out!
This was cool !
