  • I decided to put together two videos from Koh Chang that my newer viewers might not have seen. If you've already seen the videos, feel free to skip this one!
    Day 1:
    Ko Phrao Nok เกาะพร้าวนอก
If you’d like to support this channel you can do so here: www.buymeacoffee.com/garybutler
Today we are taking you on a free boat trip on the less travelled, less touristy, beautiful east side of Koh Chang in Eastern Thailand.
We were told the island we visited is called Ko Sai Kaew with translates to White Sand Island but on Google Maps it comes up as Ko Phrao Nok เกาะพร้าวนอก. Whatever its name is, this paradise island it's well worth the trip over from The Parama Hotel. The boat was free for us as we were staying at the hotel, making it a must do boat trip if you are staying on the east coast of Koh Chang.
Koh Chang is an amazing island, whichever side you go to. The west side of the island is the most popular, tourist wise and it’s where you’ll find the western restaurants and the majority of Thai restaurants for that matter. Koh Chang's upmarket hotels and backpacker accommodation are also on the west coast. However, If you are looking for a more rustic island feel, you want to head to the east coast. We felt like we were on a completely different island, in fact, it felt more like nearby Koh Mak or Koh Kood!
There’s not much in the way of hotels on the east but we can definitely vouch for the Parama Resort. It’s a bit random but the views from the hotel are exceptional.
The hotel that we stayed in:
    Parama Koh Chang: goo.gl/maps/u3hhqe2fV1A2xTtr9
    Day 2:
We visited Koh Chang’s only coffee farm at Ban Kafae and stopped at their coffee shop to try a cup of Koh Chang’s finest.
Next up, we headed to Salak Kok Seafood for some classic Thai seafood dishes in the Koh Chang mangroves.
Next up we took a mammoth drive through the forest to get to ‘Long Beach’, which in all honesty was a bit of a disappointment but hey, you can’t win them all!
We ended the day back at out hotel, Koh Chang Marina & Resort for dinner, sunset and some epic drone shots!
Koh Chang is a fantastic island, whichever side you go to. The west side is the most popular and it’s where you’ll find the western restaurants and the majority of Thai restaurants for that matter, the upmarket hotels and the backpacker accommodation. If you are looking for a more rustic island feel then the east coast is where you want to go. We felt like we were on a completely different island, in fact, it felt more like nearby Koh Mak or Koh Kood!
There’s not much in the way of hotels on the east but we can definitely vouch for the Parama Resort. It’s a bit random but the views from the hotel are exceptional.

My name’s Gary Butler and I’ve been living in Bangkok for the past five plus years and travelling Thailand for over ten. I’m obsessed with Thai street food and it’s this obsession that led me to start this TH-cam channel. I want to share my favourite hidden spots in Bangkok and the rest of Thailand so you can fall in love with authentic, local Thai food as much as I have!
I’ve never understood travelling to a town or city and not eating the local food. How else do you really connect with a place? Let’s get out and explore together and I guarantee you’ll find a whole different side to this wonderful country.
If you love seeing off the beaten path, non-touristy, local life, and authentic local life in Bangkok and Thailand, this is the channel for you. If go-go bars on the Sukhumvit Road are more your thing (I’m not judging) then maybe not!

It's an irony that developers and development can't find a constructive method to recycle trash and to make trash bins more hygienic for people. Likewise in Singapore - I was disappointed with their new housing development of not making trash bins more accessible. Likewise in Malaysia rural areas and at the beaches - they do stack up all the trash and then burn them. So just burn it after piling the trash.

Mate, like the info, but would be good if you have less film of your face and more of the food, and the scenes.
The last place ypu stayed and ate, with the dog, you didn’t name it, let alone show some images of the place, room, restaurant and grounds / location.
Never saw the steamed squid that you at Salak Kok restaurant, you didnt film the mangrove view from the restaurant….
    Just some advice.
