    Chapters are in the description so you can skip to the parts you want to watch. Don’t miss the drone footage at the end!

      There’s some really nice spots but just like every big island, you’ve definitely got to explore!

    Your food review is going to give Mark Wiens a run for his money. Lol.
    I've been to Koh Chang before, I didn't know they had a coffee farm. Could be because I was only there for 4days, which ended up being us just doing 'touristy' stuff. Good vlog, mate.

      Haha, thanks buddy!
      We didn't know either, the other time we went we did exactly the same! Just did touristy stuff. Thanks a lot mate!

    I love Koh Chang. So relaxing. 2 years ago I visited Koh Chang then visited Koh Samet after which is much smaller and another great place to relax

    • @theroamingcook
      @theroamingcook  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah we really enjoyed it. We’ve really got to get back to Koh Samet, it’s been 11 years since I last went!

    Lovely island, really impacted by covid when I came last month. Hopefully the future will be much brighter. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻

    Never been to the East side of Koh Chang, now have to go..especially liked the Coffee farm as we also have 100 coffee plants we planted a year ago..Arabica grows in higher elevations and Robusta is lowland coffee,I didn't know Robusta was twice as strong as Arabica..Awesome food tour as always, made my mouth water..Go back in November for the ripe Coffee Bean tour lol

    • @theroamingcook
      @theroamingcook  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I’d say it’s a must John. Wow, that’s amazing, how are they growing? So are you growing robusta too? Yeah I remember a coffee shop in London last time I went back was advertising it as a morning pick me up and charging an absolute premium. Little did everyone buying it know that the beans are much cheaper! Glad you enjoyed the food and I will definitely be going back for the harvest in November...if lockdown is over by then!

    We took relatives to Koh Chang, they said it was a back to front Island - Long beach wasn't long and lonely beach wasn't lonely. The bar at Long Beach was also closed when we visited. Will check out the coffee shop and restaurant when we next visit, thanks for bringing Koh Chang back to us stuck in the UK.

    • @theroamingcook
      @theroamingcook  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hahahahaha, sounds about right! Yeah, doesn't make much sense does it? Saying that, it's all pretty lonely at the moment! I'm glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching.

    Very cool Info. My uncle was going to take us to the east side last time I was there but we had to leave and take my cousin to the Hat lek govermant building on the Thai/cambodia border to work. She is a durian inspector LOL.

    • @theroamingcook
      @theroamingcook  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not as cool as your cousin being a durian inspector! I bet she knows everything there is to know about durian!

    Long beach is disgusting! I went there a couple of years ago and it was full of rubbish. In fact Koh Chang has deteriorated. I went there last year for the second time and vouched to not go again...such a shame!

    • @theroamingcook
      @theroamingcook  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah agreed on long beach, it really wasn’t the best. I think Koh Chang has some nice spots but there are definitely other islands I would choose over it.

    Salak Koh is where I used to live with a friend who owns the fishing boat about 5 months, it’s been changed a lot but still got it’s charm.

    • @theroamingcook
      @theroamingcook  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes still a charming little place

      My friend built a small wooden house there while buying the crab meat & prawns, then he moved to Koh Kood (the house on the landing pier with the grocery shop is where it is. The house in Salak Kok, he gave to the family who looked after him, now she became wealthier and built a bigger house for farangs with long stay. Quite a nice house actually, big open space right at the pier.

    Spent a week on the Western Side a couple of years ago and everyone told me to stay away from the East as there was "nothing" and the roads were terrible. Now I know!

    • @theroamingcook
      @theroamingcook  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's exactly what they were telling us haha. I don't think anyone on the island has actually been there!

    Oh!!! I thought Sak Kok had been my little secret for 20 years as nobody I meet has heard of it! I love the boat trips there mate - it feels like you are in the deep South. I have never seen more than half a dozen people in this village! Nice vid...

      @@theroamingcook A couple of cans on the Thai gondolas there is bliss. I had no idea the food was good though - I think it was a liquid lunch both times. Next time, I shall indulge in the seafood for sure - thanks!

    Glad you can get your travels in while you can! We were hoping to be heading there ASAP but it’s looking like a lot of the world could be crushed by covid as the US was the last year. Will be praying for the Thai people🙏🏼

      No more travelling for a while unfortunately with this new wave. I hope it’s not to long before it’s all sorted and you can get back over!
