I am a Canadian who lived in L.A. in the 90's working in the film industry. At that time, Sloan played at a club there and when, during this song, they sang " I know that I'll be living it in Canada" the whole crowd screamed. I never knew how many Canadians were in L.A. Great song.

Back in the 90's I was a frequent at an all-ages dive bar in Hamilton named X-Club. Although It was a tiny little place, it always had great live acts! On one particular night, the performers listed on the card included a band called "Salon" Selectives! Quite the surprise!!!

Since the demise of The Tragically Hip, Sloan is by default the best rock band in Canada. Which is amazing. The odd thing is that this band has been around for a long time and doesn't get the recognition it deserves. going on 30 years with the original members, some of them taking part time jobs to get by. to get by.
Last concert I went to before covid. They played a show in St. Catharines. Still sound exactly the same after all these years. Not what I consider real headline material anymore but still a great festival pick
Murph! You're the only one that could pull that off and it looks rad man!! After all these years, still fucking cool. Sloan is the tightest band to come from these beau provinces. God bless them.
Well… perhaps someone has already commented in a similar fashion but from my hippy perspective, the lead singer is a perfect combination of John Denver, Jim Morrison and Mick Jagger. Just saying.

The Canadian Beatles. Wish more people listened to these guys
@Con Derry I guess that was a stretch. This just kinda sounds like something the Beatles would have written
all the good people already do... :)
Lots of awesome Canadian music The Guess Who, April Wine, Triumph, Neil Young, Gordon Lightfoot
This is the coolest quasi underground band since April Wine…
This would've fit perfectly on Revolver

Why did these guys not become huge(er)? The harmonies, the hooks, the image, everything that makes perfect pop is there.
Blame Geffen Records.
because they’ve got too much credibility to be huge and it’s nice to see them keep that credibility after so long.
Two words: boy bands
One of life’s great mysteries… they had everything to be huge
@garymanley2618 boy bands and nu metal really. Just a case of the wrong time period. Happens a lot in the music biz.
I love the line "one thing I know about the rest of my life, I know that I'll be living in Canada..." And I'm not even Canadian.
Every time I hear it lately it makes me wish I'd moved to Canada when I had the chance.
Here I am rediscovering Sloan in 2024. It's been awhile. This is some good stuff!
Finding this band on TH-cam this year has made my very stressful healthcare job much easier!
Wishing you well. ❤ I know it's been hard, but as someone with health problems, I want to say thank you for everything.
This song deserves more views. Love Sloan.
If they were from the states they would have been huge in the 90's
