I didn't dig this one when I was a teenager. Now it really stands out to me as one of their best. Sometimes you're just not ready for a song until you're ready, you know?
I couldn't agree more. In fact, when I was younger I was never much of a Sloan fan at all. Then as I got older I came to appreciate them more and more, and now I think they're an excellent band made up of multi talented musicians. I feel like they're almost one of Canada's great little secrets.
I remember watching this video back on muchmusic when I was a kid...to this day I still get chills when I listen to it. Genuinely one of the best songs of it's time, and one of my all time favourite songs.
Forgot about this band. I am ashamed. Loved them so much. Regular rotation when I had things called Compact Discs. Absolute pop-rock top-tier songs, and when they veered into emotional songwriting like this they were even better. They are a gem.
Every sloan video has 2 mutual comments 1 : "this band is underrated" 2 : "Beatles vibe" I'm not saying they're wrong, but there is definitely a pattern there
When the grunge thing hit, Canada was desperate for a grunge vibe of their own. same with britain/oasis, for whatever reason it was beatles/retro band rip offs.
Just saw them last night in KW. What a performance. Icing on the cake was meeting them afterwards for autographs. I fell in love with this song many moons ago/ Hasn't lost its touch yet.
Gotta give 89X props from back in the day for turning me on to this song and group. Still jam this song on weekend nights when I'm up drinking Blue Moon and shots of Fireball. 👍
FINALLY!!! Someone said it, everyone thinks The Tragically Hip are kings but NO. They are excellent and I even grew up in the same town (Kingston) but SLOAN will forever be CANADA's band.
I love how this song is rumored to be about one of the band members part in a love triangle that featured a couple of Canadian singers - one who has gone on to bigger things - and is so dirty that you are actually hoping the winner is the singer of this song.
I was always the other guy. 😊 No one's ever rooted for me. Sloan is awesome. My buddy used to obsess over their talent! When we were younger. They still sound great!
I've had the pleasure of being on both sides of such things, a time or two. ⚠️ lesson to be learned. Some willing to cheat for you. Is willing to cheat on you. And lump yourself in that pile too if you're in the know.
I love and hate this song. I hate what it stands for. I hate that I have been in this situation, But its something I need to listen to every one in a while.
The video for this song is amazing! You could still use it today... If it weren't for that stupid 2 second clip of the kid walking past the old Macintosh Computers.

I will never understand how this band didn't blow up in America. So many great songs
Maybe, like Spirit of the West sang, they're "far too Canadian". Rheostatics too.
@@nope-z5y Limblifter too
@@eric7922I'm going to agree 100%
I've been the other man regrettably ...this song hits my heart so hard.

How does this song not have 1 mil views I used to listen to this when I was a kid
MOST UNDERATED BAND OF ALL TIME!!!
Well said!
It’s too good of a 🎵
Not bad needs garlic
They remain one of my biggest influences
Totally agree ❤
Nov 2024 and still one of my favourite songs ❤
This song will never fail to send chills up my spine. I think this song could have been released in any decade and would still be a hit.
Agreed.
TOTALLY!
Makes my hair stand on end.
Such a well crafted song.

I fell in love with her as the other man, and it was the best time of my life so far.
Until her husband crushes your testicles
Such a great song with an equally good video. Should be a Canadian classic.
I love that the opening bassline wants to eat my speakers.
This is easily the greatest sloan song for me. So good.
Forgot about this band. I am ashamed. Loved them so much. Regular rotation when I had things called Compact Discs. Absolute pop-rock top-tier songs, and when they veered into emotional songwriting like this they were even better. They are a gem.
This might be the best song they've ever written...
This or "Coax Me" hard too say.
Just recently remembered this song from when it came out and ended up here in 2023! Great timeless song; I’d go as far to say that it’s perfect!
The vocal harmonies are so sick in this one
Gorgeous, eh? Sloan is a huge influence on the harmonies I write for my own stuff and my session work.
A classic Sloan masterpiece. Much love from Victoria, BC, Canada.
This song always had a special place in my heart. First time I saw this video I was hypnotized! 🔥🔥
This song is a gem 💎
My anthem in high school 99-03, 04 OAC
I love the strong Beatles vibe of this tune! Even their outfits are mod like! Still listening in 2019! Cheers!

One of their best. Great song.
Love this song and haven't heard it in forever. It deserves many more views.
love that sloan is misspelled on the calendar in his locker
Yeah. I heard that Sloan started as Slow One (with a french accent)
Fun fact: The high school used in this video is where Degrassi High was filmed in 1989 to 1991. It's now Centennial College (Story Arts Centre).
Finally someone else noticed that
I thought the outside shot looked familiar then I saw the long ramp on the inside a knew for sure.
Great song!
The bass on this one!

Without 89X I don't know if I would know Sloan. CBC just doesn't play enough to make an impression.
One of my favorite songs... y'all were great in Hamilton 2022🎉
the four kings of Canada.
FINALLY!!! Someone said it, everyone thinks The Tragically Hip are kings but NO. They are excellent and I even grew up in the same town (Kingston) but SLOAN will forever be CANADA's band.
you say that like the hip dont exist, shame.
Brilliant
Love this song, haunting
I recognize the band director in the video from when I lived in Halifax.
A great song that I'm sure a lot of us can relate to :)
What a hook. Yes, this band is underrated.
One of the best songs ever ❤
Remember when songs came out and they defined a small moment, were meaningful and felt like art not trash?
Lol I never imagined there was a video for this song let alone one so fitting! Gotta love Sloan! Wish I had seen it 14 years ago!
2022 and the guys are still cranking out exceptional music🙌❤
So loving sloan everyday 😍 ❤️
These guys are gangsta...writing songs like this looool. So good!!

It's pretty cool that they got William Nylander to do this before he became a big time hockey player.
Seriously? Or you just trolling? I'm really curious to know now. Cheers.
@@randydube1423 I think if you do the math, the answer will become obvious.
Hehehehe he totally looks like Nylander...
egad i love this song! thanks Sloan!
I like how the band is basically set up exactly the same in this video as they were in Coax Me.
Peak Sloan.
Great song, thanks for uploading it
