I've never tought that 3 random guys could have built a so big network (only in a few year) showing whats true car enthusiasm, sharing so much passion! now Car Throttle is become one of my favorite channels beside /DRIVE & Chris Harris on cars
+Car Throttle ... you know.. I never like old car... but after watching this video .. and cool explanation.. you almost give me some orgasm about this kind of classic car... its true.. car nowadays equip with hi tech shit, that I am realize.. I talk alone in the car doesn't know what happen outside... I never experience the full adventure driving a classic car ... but hell this review is good
+Alex Kersten Newer cars isnt something that hade lots of word, Pride and glory. Newer cars can anyone buy with alpt of money. Thats why i like older cars over the newer, love the show alex, keep it up and greets from Sweden :)
+MRsjovealek why do I feel like your 10 years old and only think Lamborginis and exotics are pretty cars. You can't recognize real automotive beauty smh
+MRsjovealek It may be true, but this old car is like new model bmws' grandad. Its kinda cool to see what cool, fast bmw looked 40 yrs ago :) just my opinion.
i had an e23 with the same engine (even the same intake manifold) but it was 3.5 liters, and i fitted a turbo on it. it made 353.hp, and it sounded lovely. long live the M30
This is a great piece. The presenter's enthusiasm, humor and knowledge is a nice mix. I get the same attention in my 2002 turbo here in Italy - the flared wheel arches, big air dam, the reverse 2002 turbo lettering, M stripes, etc. Italians have literally pulled over to ask me about it. I also have a 3.0 CSL (not a Batmobile just a regular RHD), that gets some attention, but the extreme racing queues of the 2002 (and like this car in the video) help a lot.
This is by far the best car review you've made so far. not just because of the car, but because of the presentation. you're skills as "show host" have improved.
u have no idea how exited i was while slaping myself to remind my brain that i have to wait for this video... i littraly couldnt wait but my patience came in with reward.... thank u thank u thank u very much carthrottle... srysly thank u.
There are two types of people in the world: those that think the E9 3.0 CSL is gorgeous, and those that think it is fuck ugly. I fall in the first of the two.
u have no idea how exited i was while slaping myself to remind my brain that i have to wait for this video... i littraly couldnt wait but my patience came in with reward.... thank u thank u thank u very much @car throttle... srysly thank u.
I recognize a lot of small details like both inside and outside doorhandels and the useless indicators because you know what you are driving and much more because my dad owns a BMW 3,0 cs
I purchased a new 1973 BMW 3.0CS in New Orleans from the O. E. Haring dealership in 1973. It was a sport sedan and probably did 0-60 mph in about 8.5 seconds. Not a muscle car. It was however a nice sporty car to drive. After about 6 years I found a mechanic to "soup" it up. Pulled the engine and had it bored out (1mm), blue-printed, and balanced. Added higher compression pistons, a more radical cam and shimmed the valve springs. Also added an electric fuel pump and three two barrel Weber carbs. Changed the exhaust headers and put in low restriction mufflers. Bought new 16 x 8" wheels and put Pirelli low profile tires. I guess the engine went from 186 hp to about 230 hp. Seems the 0-60 went to the 6.5 second to 7.0 second range. I also repainted it from its original siler grey to a darker metallic grey. After owning it for 10 years I sold it. Great car. I doubt that this 3.0 CSL is any faster in straight line acceleration that my "souped-up" version.
Excellent feature! I'm restoring an E9 3.0 CS literally from the ground up right now on my youtube channel. I'm not aspiring for a Batmobile appearance but I do love that car so so much.
You forget how much visibility older cars provided, the A post is so narrow.. Older classics have there own unique smell too, and this car looks a rather special place to be! Trusting owner!!
You know, we all see how accurate and understandably he explains about cars, and knows real difference. And proves, that older car, does not mean it's worse than new. I see next Clarkson, and i hope he's gonna make a good career on this, the man, who have a real"touch"
BMW M division’s debut machine, design & built by ex Ford Europe employees working at the Capri production plant in Cologne Germany. Epic German engineering making history. I love it. The reason why I’m a big Ford & BMW fanatic for life.
One of our customers has a 3.0cs and its epic. The cutting out is probably fuel vaporisation as they get mega hot. Was the bloke on the bike wearing a piston heads top??.
Back In the late 80's I worked in a BMW dealership and one of these came in for a service and some brake work. Was a mass rush to the foreman to get the job. Everyone wanted to Road test it. The guy I was working with got the job, happy days. I'm also thinking it may even have been this very car, it was certainly the same year of registration and colour. We also looked after a very pretty 3.0 CS in light metallic green but I recall even then that car was rotten as a pear so would imagine its been swept away by now.
Awesome video! It truly is an amazing car. Video very well edited. I looked for the soundtrack based of the video's description and checked all tracks on Tom Kent's page but I couldn't find this one. Any idea where can I find it? Thanks!
Car Throttle is THEEE BESTTT, but I think it would be a good idea to pay more attention to the use of music. Myself, I get bored of listening to a loop for 7 minutes. Maybe use non-looped music and leave space with no music to draw attention to the words of Sir Alex. It won't take much effort, but I think it will add a lot to these videos. Just my two pennies.
Fourteen inch Alpina wheels... important detail, because Alpina suggested to BMW to create the CSL and that's why Alpina was significantly involved in the development of this car, thus many CSLs have these wheels.
i'm 16 and this is my nr 1 favorite car, all other teens have a bugatti or a lamborgini as favorite car, but i think old cars are still sexier than those modern supercars
I really enjoyed your video, thanks for sharing. I am in total agreement with everything you said in the video. I feel exactly the same way about my 81 E24 628csi.
I bought a 2800 CS new in 1971 and have owned 2 more. The earliest carburetted cars are the best, imho, though there are a lot more of the 3 liter CSI's. They were BMW's answer to Mercedes SL's and they were far more elegant and a bit faster. The batmobile CSL's were a bit much with all the aero some love so much. May be cool and faster, but ruins the lines of the car and those silly M-stripes do little for me. But what a drive still today any of the E9's are. The worm and sector or recirculating ball steering is a bit slower than the rack and pinion used by so many sporting cars, but has a smoothness to it. And a well-running 2800 motor is the best 6 BMW made. Very much like the also nice 3.3 liter motors in the 533 and 733's. The 3.0 and 3.5 motors were never as smooth for some reason.
I fear the day that classics like these cease to exist
In my eyes, the best car BMW ever made!
For me its the e46m3 or f10 m5
but hondas are still the best cars
+LurkingBrony true
+LurkingBrony Said no one ever..
Mine would probably be a e30 m3 or a 2002 👍
The air bag is my face.... That is proper automotive host humor. So enjoyable. Thank u
I've never tought that 3 random guys could have built a so big network (only in a few year) showing whats true car enthusiasm, sharing so much passion! now Car Throttle is become one of my favorite channels beside /DRIVE & Chris Harris on cars
Car Throttle is THEEE BESTTT!!!
+Sapphire No Sapphire. You are the best.
I never experience the full adventure driving a classic car ... but hell this review is good
+Car Throttle technically you are correct but u still better :D
+ᅚ Great to hear that you've started to embrace real old cars!
+Alex Kersten Newer cars isnt something that hade lots of word, Pride and glory. Newer cars can anyone buy with alpt of money. Thats why i like older cars over the newer, love the show alex, keep it up and greets from Sweden :)
That indeed is a beautiful car.
+MRsjovealek you just started a war
+MRsjovealek I personally think that car perferences can differ for some persons. Same now, you don't like it, other mate loves it.
+MRsjovealek why do I feel like your 10 years old and only think Lamborginis and exotics are pretty cars. You can't recognize real automotive beauty smh
+Ryan Eldana you're* sorry i hate those mistakes.
3:50-4:04 is one of the best lines I've heard in my life
Now that is a BMW... Not this modern crap.
I love your explanation for the abrupt cutting out when you rolled to a stop, very well orchestrated Alex!
This is a great piece. The presenter's enthusiasm, humor and knowledge is a nice mix. Love how the roof wing just bolts the drip rails like a ladder rack...a real race car.
Excellent!! Incredibly, this young man really knows How To Enjoy a Classic. He deserves to get the best classics he might want.
He reminds me of Jeremy Clarkson in the way he reacts to cars.
+Josh Lewis Exactly. There is some old Top Gear spirit. Awesome.
when Clarkson did the E46 M3 CSL this sexyyyyyy E9 was in the video. and Clarkson has a E9.
This is by far the best car review you've made so far. not just because of the car, but because of the presentation. you're skills as "show host" have improved.
I got a bavaria a few weeks ago as a project car, I'd kill to have a CSL. they're all beautiful cars
Love this channel so much, One of the best hosts of a car program aswel, big ups!
One of the Best cars in history
That cyclist is wearing the PistonHeads cycling top?!!!!!! 6:00
+Talon276 omg he is.you sir have good eyes.
+Blood Sugar That's why he was interested in the E9
well ofc.
+Talon276 YES! i'm not the only one who noticed =P
+Talon276 Brilliant spot mate! Brilliant!
There is some different character in those boxy and BMW designs. That's why I'm BMW fan, especially older cars like this. Big thumbs up!!
Beautiful video. I love classic Bmws. They have so much soul. What year was this car from?
Such a beautiful classic, looks never get old.
Didn't read the title properly and thought you had THE Batmobile but this is way better
This thing is drop-dead GORGEOUS.
u have no idea how exited i was while slaping myself to remind my brain that i have to wait for this video... i littraly couldnt wait but my patience came in with reward.... thank u thank u thank u very much carthrottle... srysly thank u.
There are two types of people in the world: those that think the E9 3.0 CSL is gorgeous, and those that think it is fuck ugly.
I fall in the first of the two.
you mean there are 2 kind of people on earth;
those who think it's gorgeous and those who are wrong, right?
jura2304 correct although I think it's gorgeous. Not gorgeuse.
Tyler Raber oops. What can I say English is hard...
Its gorgeous mechanically and on paper, but not exactly visually.
Undercover Wookiee you fall under the latter category.
u have no idea how exited i was while slaping myself to remind my brain that i have to wait for this video... i littraly couldnt wait but my patience came in with reward.... thank u thank u thank u very much @car throttle... srysly thank u.
I love seeing Alex's reactions!!
got to love retro

Car throttle is just getting better every time!
I will buy it any day

Once again - amazing video and with an amazing car. There's no more to ask!
I think you should be the next Top Gear presenter!
Dude you're an awesome car reviewer! Keep going!!
not one bad review. such a good channel
Car throttle is the best Channel for cars!!
Not just channel!
Motor Trend channel
mighty car mods
Nah. They just know about them not how to work on them or how to build them.
+Tim Tereshchuk prove the mx5 project.
You know, we all see how accurate and understandably he explains about cars, and knows real difference. And proves, that older car, does not mean it's worse than new. I see next Clarkson, and i hope he's gonna make a good career on this, the man, who have a real"touch"
I'm a teenage cyclist with a passion for cars - cycling is a stepping stone for cars in a way :D
I love the way you guys subtitled the curse word, blurred it and beeped it out haha
BMW M division’s debut machine, design & built by ex Ford Europe employees working at the Capri production plant in Cologne Germany. Epic German engineering making history. I love it. The reason why I’m a big Ford & BMW fanatic for life.
That's beautiful I love those
This car is stunning at every angle. Feel jealous of you mate.
DeTomaso Pantera... that is my dream... love that thing to bits.
Such an intoxicating beauty... and it left more heritage than the racing legacy. The design kind of inspired the following decade of 5 and 6s.
Please drive the original Alfa Romeo GTA, it´s my dream car and you did a good job reviewing the BMW, so I think you will do also great with the GTA.
7:46 :O
BMW should reproduce this body style but put a small modern engine in it
I don't generally like the newer Beemers, but this is just something else.
Well this ain't new lol
+DrathVader96 It's probably something else because it's from the 70s...
Simply incredible, this is a true dream car
These are hero cars of mine. I really wish I could afford one. You're so lucky, dude, that you got to drive one. I envy you.
I had this as RC car, the touring version
One of our customers has a 3.0cs and its epic. The cutting out is probably fuel vaporisation as they get mega hot. Was the bloke on the bike wearing a piston heads top??.
Not usually a BMW fan but this is just a fantastic car
i know someone with one of these, its beautiful
1:16 perfect bmw exhaust sound imitation
Stunning car good old days
Awesome, mine would definitely be an R34 Z-Tune. Ultimate dream car, but I'm not confidant I'll ever get to drive one :(
IMO this is one of the most beautiful cars ever made
Amazing car, well reviewed. I tip my oilfreckled hat to you. One thing though: the BMW M1 is equally cool. Has to be said.
I've seen one of the bright yellow ones before. Not sure if it's a batmobile but it was really spcecial.
Brilliant. You are so lucky to of had the pleasure of driving one.
Alex has great humor"the car is taking a rest" lmao!!
CTzen here
+Brandon Herrera Cheers. Now get back on the website!!
+Alex Kersten Will do! Now, find that wagon bimmer you want!

my favorite car ever
Awesome video! It truly is an amazing car. Video very well edited. I looked for the soundtrack based of the video's description and checked all tracks on Tom Kent's page but I couldn't find this one. Any idea where can I find it? Thanks!
"the airbag is my face" haha love it
Holly shit!!! We have this exact car in our factory now and it’s amazing!!! We got a Z1 in too and a few others.
You are one lucky guy Alex!
Is it me or is the rear bumper warped? @ 7.16? But still an absolute stunning car!
Great video guys, more of these please :)
Well done.. Such a pretty car

awesome car! I love the legendary BMW cars :-)
Bmw m3 e30 evolution
beautiful car, the one bmw i want other than an m3
most gorgeous car ever made
Real example of thrue beautifull BMW design.Timeless classic. And that coming from Alfa Romeo fan.
Fourteen inch Alpina wheels... important detail, because Alpina suggested to BMW to create the CSL and that's why Alpina was significantly involved in the development of this car, thus many CSLs have these wheels.

Oh you missed me that much? Still, there will be no new R8 V8. Sorry for your dumbness.
i'm 16 and this is my nr 1 favorite car, all other teens have a bugatti or a lamborgini as favorite car, but i think old cars are still sexier than those modern supercars
70s BMWs are seriously beautiful
the rear lights are similar to the opel kadett
I really enjoyed your video, thanks for sharing. I am in total agreement with everything you said in the video. I feel exactly the same way about my 81 E24 628csi.
I don't like CarThrottle. I love it!
sounds proper
thinking that after 10 or so years the E46 m3 will be so rare that you even cant find one to drive makes me wanna cry
Best BMW EVER!!!
Well I like it
Awesome car!
Such a nice car.
Did see one in London, just outside Barnet :p
