    There are very few cars in this world that get universal respect. There is, however, an exotic car that gets every petrolhead's heart beating harder... The Honda NSX.

    Normal people see NSX, and they think it's just Honda.
    When I see it, it reminds me Ayrton Senna.

  • @scrustle

    Wonderful car. I think ranking it above the F40 in unicorn status is a bit much though. For a start, the F40 is a Ferrari. Also the first production car to crack 200mph, and was basically the defining supercar of the 80s. The NSX is brilliant too, and I love it, and I'm not even personally that big of a fan of the F40, but I think it still outranks the NSX with its status as a piece of automotive history.

    • @Mopar3
      @Mopar3 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wasn't the 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona the first to crack 200mph?

    • @joshcutler6061
      @joshcutler6061 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not a production car, and that was only in nascar

    • @EvLSpectre
      @EvLSpectre 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Scrustle I think its the fact that it is a legend....... Made by a company whose sports cars were low, the TypeRs, the S2000, and the NSX. For what it is, the price, what it does, the driving feeling. The F40 is a legend too, but in its own wake, in the wake of Ferrari, and the crazy era of racing that it came from. Cars from Chaparral and his adjustable aero and ground effects, Tyrrell with their P34 and six wheels, Brabham, and the BT46. All had ideas, controversy, and amazing advancements. The F40 had those, but in a street legal, raw, adulterated package.

    • @Suburbanhotrods
      @Suburbanhotrods 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The dodge Daytona was a production vehicle of 503 made while its cousin the Plymouth super bird production units where I think 1300. They were both banned from nascar for being to fast. They did do over 200 mph with an extremely low coefficient of .28 that's lower than or nearly as low as a Prius.

    • @alexlam24
      @alexlam24 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Porsche 959 was the first to crack 200mph. The F40 has never been recorded to crack anything past 199, as is typical Ferrari claims.

    ----Some knowledge about the NSX----
    1991 it was the first production car to feature an aluminium body (and not Audi with their Space Frame, like many people think).
    To all people who say "Supercar? It only has 276 BHP! Even the VW Golf R has more power and is cheaper!": Remember that this car was designed in 1988 and:
    1. There are at least 22 years difference between the Golf R and the NSX - engineering doesn't sleep.
    2. By this time (90's) the Japanese car market had a 276 BHP restriction for all cars made in Japan (also the Supra, Skyline etc.). But the cars often had more power. For example: a stock 1991 NSX with 100 k miles was dynoed 274 BHP (actually cars tend to lose power over the years/miles). Healthy, low milage NSXs were often measured with over 300 BHP.
    3. They are very rare + have the legend status. This is why they are that expensive.

    • @RexorProxer

      SlickRickOne 2. By this time (90's) the Japanese car market had a 276 BHP restriction
      for all cars made in Japan (also the Supra, Skyline etc.).
      They have still this limitation but it was ever just a recommendation. So the manifacturen could ignore that. BUT there was something else. The speedometer just goes to 180 km/h and that was a law.

    • @TheHondaTuner
      @TheHondaTuner 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +SlickRickOne did you just put Golf and NSX in one sentence? Yea engineering actually goes back, as new golfs have a ridgedy axle on the rear, wich honda last produced 1985. gg

    Woahhhhhhhhhhh mahn! Was this only me who got emotionally carried away? That line "We are all made of emotions and we are all looking for emotions" just struck me and really believe me I just got mad over the "sound of our people" I don't know what is there that keeps me stuck to Car throttle but I really love the channel only because of videos like these. Oh mahn I so wanted to be in that NSX and the review was just mindddddd blowing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh mahn m drooling over the car.

    Motor Trend called the NSX one of the most influential cars of the 20th century. It was also recently displayed in the Peterson automobile museum's exhibit of the greatest sports coupes wit the likes of the 300SL Gullwing, Ferrari 250 and the Iso Grifo. Its not F-40 supercar special but its definitely a "super" sports car.

    NSX junkie here!! Okay well the way the slow rack is supposed to work is that you can get extremely accurate lines in corners. It seems strange yes, but believe me this car is perfect at everything, why would they mess that up without a good reason.

    Funny how people are still discovering how good this car really is even though it's been out of production for 10 years. My '96 is an amazing machine - it just does everything right and makes me feel like an F1 driver without ever getting close to it's max limits. Think I'll go out to the garage and take mine for a spin right now!

    the NA2 05 NSX in the video is 4.7-5sec 0-60. and not 5.7sec which is the higher end of the previous na1 3l 5speed versions time which were anywhere from 5.2-5.7sec 0-60.

    Slow steering ratio may be a deliberate compromise to keep the car more controllable for those with less skill than F1 drivers. The NSX was created before TC and Stability Control became typical.

    I found 1991 NSX for sale in Scottsdale in the United States. It was in even better shape than this one, only 34000 original miles. It was amazing how good it looked. I though I was looking at the brochure. Which was included with the car along with all the records of maintenance. For $85000USD

    Good review. For me it came down to a 95 Supra Turbo or NSX as a weekend car. I went with the Supra for it's overall performance capabilities. However, this car is more of an exotic in my eyes due to the mid engine layout and light weight titanium materials. Like the Supra, even today it looks fresh and impressive on the road. They are both also very rare and arguably the best JDM cars of the 90s.

    The reason the steering rack is so slow is because it is a manual rack. Making the rack slower means it is still easy to use even without any power assist. The major advantage of the manual rack is the amount of feedback you get through the steering wheel which makes the driving experience much better.
