In my opinion-the internet is full of opinions-the inline-6 BMW powerplant I put right up there with the Nissan RB26DETT, ANY aircooled Porsche flat-6, and the iconic 2.1L Audi inline-5 which powered the S1 UR Quattro. Those four motors for me make the best sounds on the planet. Sure, V-12s sound fantastic, but the simplicity of these four aforementioned (is that “afourmentioned”?) motors make them even more special. I’ve witnessed the audible perfection of these motors on many occasions over the past four decades at Laguna Seca and Sears Point, and every time the sounds of these motors sent chills up my spine.
Wow! So many years later and these BMWs are still as magnificent as ever.😍 Nothing quite like that inline 6 howling down the straightaway followed by flames pouring from the exhaust entering the turns. And the suspension tuning looks amazing... very tidy through the corners. I guess I'm not worthy of such a beast of a car, but that doesn't stop me from wanting one.😉 Thank you many times over for sharing these beautiful machines with us again, Bozzy! Have a wonderful week, my friend.👍😄
I've got a rusty old 2,800 CS and the engine is just a gem still! Turbine like with dual webers. The cars in this video are the absolute extant of this model BMW and cannot be topped. Thank you for posting I love it!
I'm not a fan of some of the modern BMW exterior designs either, but FYI this car is way more plastic than modern BMWs. That's how they got race cars back in the day super light, they switched from steel and glass to plastic, fiberglass, and aluminum, whereas these days they would switch to carbon fiber.
I´m curious how rich these run, every shift, everytime the pedal closes, the white car belches smoke but the black one actually ignites what is left to burn. But that´s just me, I love these things in their naturan habitat doing the thing, I´m just as old as them but I look shit, compared.
1:24 wanted to get that Stack rev counter for my own race car because they're the only decent ones that are period sympathetic. Fucken $600 Edit: great video, I love your historic stuff.
Excellent video both sight and sound; had a 72 CSL in the late 80s early 90s and lived on the backside of Feldberg mountain .. it was a super daily driver on a fun road to FFM. What I really want is to build a E9 widebody batmobile with a E63 V10 driveline .. just got to win the lotto (I have 2 E63s so it just might happen one day).
In 1998 I had the opportunity to buy a genuine road going Batmobile CSL. But it needed work and I wasn't looking to buy a car at that time in my life "that needed worK' so I bought a Lexus instead. I don't have any regrets about that decision, but I do recall sitting in the car thinking it was a very uncompromising vehicle.
I just saw this video again after book marking it some time ago. After reading your comment, it made me appreciate buying my 1973 E9 back in 2002. In all those years since, I have never found the time to work on it because of other car projects and becoming a parent. Not sure what this car is worth right now, but a few times a year, someone driving by sees it parked in the garage when I'm working in there and stops to offer me money. Just about every time their intention is to flip it and I just won't sell it that way. If I can't make this a father-son project or just run out of money to restore it, I need to make sure it goes to someone who truly appreciates what this car is.
such a beautiful car. it just makes me ache for the timeline where they built the 3.0 csl hommage and the new m3 and m4 designs never even crossed BMW's mind
Che bella musica i sei in linea BMW! Una cosa che mi ha sempre incuriosito sono le grandi prese d'aria davanti alle ruote posteriori. A cosa servono? Non credo che i freni posteriori abbiano bisogno di tanta aria per raffreddarsi...
What a machine ... The black car is like a bat mobile.. these are my favourite BMW’s
It is nicknamed the bat Mobile
You have good taste my friend
What an amazing sound......i love it. Thats a real racing sound you get addiceted
@@stevig6613 the best straight six engine ever built ❤
I love my E92 M3 but man what a car the in line 6 see sounds insane.
Thank you Bozzy for bringing these glorious days of motorsport to our screens, this stuff is phenomenal!
I totally agree!!!
that 3 liter (3.5liter) BMW straight six is arguably one of the finest and best sounding engines of all time
Totally agree 👍
You can hear the emotion and passion for speed through that engine sound 🔥
Tesla drivers dislike The video
"Bono, why is my right rear overheating?"
"checking on the 2m long flames on downshifts...."
3:12 for a second i thought it was a V12 the way it howled down that straight
Well...half correct. Right or left?
Well it’s half of one
Transmission whine brings even more kick-ass sound for these cars!

It was my car when I was young 1972. A dream💙 💣
What a incredible sound!

My all time favorite when I was a teenager way back when. Hans Stuck at the 'gring was AWESOME!

One of the most LEGENDARY BMW(s)!Awesome video!
You get an adrenalin rush & goosebumps at the same time watching this
Hi and thanks Bozzy 😊 absolutely love it awsome 😍 😃
Love the sounds you were able to capture!
Synchronous attack of BMW on the overwhelming FORD power! Superb vehicles, perfect footage! Thanks!
I wish modern BMW's could look and sound that good.
Oh my! That sound! Pure music. This is why we love classic BMW's.
Thank you very much for making this fantastic video.
For me, one of the best looking racing cars ever. Period!
That shot at 6:14, just wow! Doesn't get any better than that :)
The most beautiful sounding racecar ever! Maybe some V12's can match this. I know many like the V8 but that's just brutal. This is music!❤️
I like them all. If any of them are missing, I can feel it...
I Love this car
looks and sounds beautiful
Just amazing to see these warriors driven in anger for us to enjoy. What a great era!
i could listen to this all day..........
Sounds awesome!

The M30 is a legendary engine.
Back when Bmws were some fine cars. Just look at them today...plastic rubbish.

Anyone else's heart pounding watching this? God damn these monsters are beautiful! My dream car hands down!!!! This was 🔥🔥🔥🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🔥🔥🔥🔥
This car shows everybody when the driver upshift or downshift, without TV data.

Fantastic Batmobiles in action
The content is always so Good Bozzy.

Edit: great video, I love your historic stuff.
Most beautiful cars in my opinion! And I drive old BMW’s myself, 2 e23’s (728i and 732i both manual)
Sounds bloody awesome! Sounds like the m1 pro car
This is absolutely glorious, magnificent, beautiful, … the sounds these machines produce
This thing is a flamethrower !

Best racecar channel on TH-cam!!!
Hi Bozzy, an other great stuff from the turbo area and the wind splits on the fenders.
Had to come here to get a fill of what a proper race car sounds and looks like in between watching the legends at live Nurburgring 24hrs 😆
Spitting flames!! Amazing car. Thx again
They don't howl, they scream

Best sound. Truly the most beautiful sound 🔥🔥💙💙
😢❤️ real BMw .
I’d love to build a street legal version. Finding an E9 for a reasonable price will be difficult.

Can someone tell me why it’s running so rich? Seems to be using too much fuel

Granatenstarker Sound aus München!
This is why I love bmw even tho the modern ones have no sound
Old BMWs should get as much credit as old porsches. Just stunningly good
Quella nera girava proprio un pelo grassa di carburazione 🤣😬🔥🔥🔥
