UTI Symptoms and Pelvic Floor Dysfunction

    You may be aware that recurrent UTIs can result in a tight pelvic floor. After all, when we experience pain and discomfort due to UTI, it's seems logical that muscles in the area may respond and possibly result in residual symptoms.
    But did you know that a tight pelvic floor, can cause lower urinary tract symptoms - even when a UTI is not present?
    When tissues in the pelvic floor fail to function properly, this is referred to as
    pelvic floor dysfunction. And some of the most common symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction are urinary symptoms. It can result in:
    Urinary frequency
    Urinary urgency
    Pain with urination
    Leaking urine (urinary incontinence)
    Difficulty emptying the bladder
    Recurrent UTI
