Hi. I have nerve damage and have both fecal and urine incontinence. I was having a bad day and came across your video as a suggestion and your story and positive outlook made me feel a lot better and less alone.
Hi there William! It warms my heart to read your comment. I promise that living a great life with incontinence is possible. For people with chronic illness, life can seem so overwhelming and lonely. I'm glad my story helped you, because your story helps me too! I started this channel to feel less lonely, and comments like yours do just that. Thanks!
@@CecilyLivingBeyondtheBag Hi Cecily! Thank you so much for the kind words. I appreciate your positive attitude in regards to living and being happy. I'm so glad It helps you also. I know absolutely how lonely it can be. I've tried some apps trying to meet someone and when I'm honest about my health issues I'm ghosted or meet once and then told the cliche "Well you're a really sweet guy but..." . We deserve no less than anyone else but it sure is difficult at times. Thank you and again and your welcome! Big Hugs!
Hey again William! So sorry I missed this comment. I’m currently moving and it’s been a busy two weeks. I realize more that most the lonely burden of chronic health issues and pain. I’m sorry you’ve faced rejection for your situation and things out of your control. Please don’t give up though. I’ve found companionship when I was sure no one would ever want me along with my illness. You’re a package deal...someone will see the value you possess. ❤️
I've been Incotinate for over 20 years, I have pelvic floor and permeant nerve damage. I have no control over my bladder and sometimes lose of my bowel control. I'm in diapers 24/7 and had a very hard time with it in the beginning. At the age of 49 years old and suddenly having to be in diapers was a total shock to me. But in time I've except it and I'm comfortable with it now. If I wanted any kind of a life this was the way it had to be.
Thank you for this i have lived with both fecal and urine incontinence for almost 34 yrs in diapers and i get so down about myself and nobody to talk to about it thank u for this video
Hi Brandon! I know it’s so hard living with incontinence. It’s a daily test in courage and strength. The most important thing for you to know is that you’re not alone. There are so many of us who feel isolated and defeated-but I admire your willingness to seek out comfort in the stories of others. I’m here for you along with the rest of the GutSquad. 💜
Hi Cecily, i have ibs-d, and have suffered like yourself for years, i am funding myself to have colostomy surgery which i have been told will be in january 2022. I know this is the right decision for myself, i cannot wait to be free and not plan my days around toilets. i would like to thank you for your brilliant, honest videos, ive watched them over and over again and have found them to be so useful. i cannot wait to start living a normal life.
Hi Nicky! It's wonderful to (virtually) meet you--I'm so sorry that you've suffered with IBS-D. I know how painful, exhausting, and disheartening that can be. As you've probably realized from watching my videos, my ostomy saved my life and renewed by hope for a bright future. I hope with all my heart that it does the same for you. It likely will not solve all of your intestinal your problems, and the recovery/adjustment period may be challenging, but I believe that a better life awaits you on the other side. Hang in there and please let me know how you're doing post-op. If you have any questions, I'm always here for you! Sending love your way 💜
@@CecilyLivingBeyondtheBag Thank you Cecily, you have been through so much, ive watched your journey, your so positive, i will definitely keep in touch. wishing you a happy Christmas, big hug 🤗
Hi ! I see your video and it make me really happy because I don’t feel alone it’s sad that nobody talk enough of that I also have incontinence (fecal and urinary) it’s because of a really bad depression and no doctor find a solution for that but you make me fell less alone so thank you for that :) (also sorry for my English I am French so it’s maybe not perfect !)
@Gregg Venuti thanks a lot for responding to my comment it help me to not feel alone ! And for medication I take for a long time some anti-depressive but it not really help me but by the time I gate use to wearing diapers full time so i live with it and it’s now a big part of my life and by the time is less and less complicated to live with . I wish you the best and I support you in your condition you are not alone !
I can see how much this is something that's really been an awful experience for you. I can't imagine having to go through it, away from home and at college/University. Everyone is so young and it's a time when I can't think of all the ways it would make you feel so different and alone. You're really brave to spread awareness. I bet it's made you a better person and friend, I imagine you'd be great in an emergency!☺️
I know this was from a year ago. But I stumbled on your channel much like other people, I was researching ostomy’s and your channel came up. I now have a colostomy and urinary incontinence. Due to having had colon cancer(at 49 then again at 50)so they removed my sacral nerves and half my sacrum. So I have no feeling on the left side from the butt cheek down, plus the left side of vagina. No to stop boring you! I loved this video and I feel so sorry you had to go through that at such a young age. This video certainly has helped me. I am sure if young people watch it they will feel less alone in their journey. 💞
Hi Carol! Thank you so much for sharing your story, and for taking the time to hear mine. Your journey is anything but boring. Surviving cancer twice is an amazing feat--you should be extremely proud to have made it through so much. I am thrilled that my video helped you feel less alone, because your comment did the same for me.
@@CecilyLivingBeyondtheBag I so did not expect a reply. 💝 I feel like it is with channels like yours, that people like me find, helps them more than you really know. ♥️
Thank you so much, Brigit. This comment really made my day. I think that learning about one's illness really helps to make it less scary. You guys always help me feel confident enough to share my experiences. Thanks for being part of the #GutSquad! 💜
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH for this video. So helpful. Thanks for being so brave about such a sensitive subject. It helped me and I'm sure has helped lots of other people.
You are so welcome! I'm really glad it was helpful to you. It means to world to me that I could help you and others feel less alone in this struggle. ❤
You are so strong and full of life!! Thank you for sharing your amazing story and how you have battled through your Incontinence!! I have been Urinary incontinent for about 17 years now due to a motorcycle accident which caused nerve damage for my bladder and have been wearing a diaper to control my leaks. It’s not easy to manage your thoughts through this especially at a young age, I was in my 30’s when it happened to me and I can’t imagine what you had to go through while in college. You are truly an incredibly strong person and I am very impressed with your understanding and ability to look at this!! Thank you again for sharing your story and know that you also are not alone!!
Hello Pete, this comment really brightened my day. Your accident sounds like it was devastating; I am really sorry you had to endure such a difficult injury and its enduring effects on your body. My experience with incontinence showed me just how strong I was, and I hope you've made a similar revelation about yourself throughout your own journey to a "new normal." Thank you so much for sharing your story and being a part of this community. I am here for you, too!
Tranquility makes really good adult diapers. Also Northshore care supply has very good quality too. Both have pull ups or tape on diapers. This is mostly for the US. The plastic tape on diapers always absorb the most. But the breathable are better for sensitive skin.
HI, Cecily your video's have been extremely uplifting and helpful, I'm a 43 year old man from Indiana, in the U.S, I'm going to have a dual Diversion Surgery next week. Your video's have given me so much information about life with ostomy and incontinence. I just wanted to say Thank You.
Hi Jacob! Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing a piece of your story, it means so much to me that you've found some comfort in my videos before you undergo such an intimating operation. I pray that it goes well and that you recover swiftly. A friend of mine had that very same surgery a few years ago and I am happy to say that he came out just fine--I am sure you will too. If you're up for it, please let me know how it goes and know that I'm always here to answer questions or give advice. Sending love and a big hug your way! ❤️
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that. I'm used to people being "grossed out" by that story but it's so nice to know that people can find inspiration from my struggle. I'm always just so grateful for my ostomy bag and family support. They've gotten me so much further than I ever thought possible.
@@davidcolledge7914 me too! Urinary incontinence. It’s a challenge for sure. Weighs in my sense of self and then I realize...surround myself with those who value who “ I “ am and it all works. Accidents happen, shit happens, pee happens to me, life happens but we’re still here fitting the good fight and that MATTERS! You’ve got this David 🤗 Reach out for anything you need. Blessings 💜D
Lord, I have an injury causing urinary incontinence and I feel so understanding of what you are saying. The terms you are using are words I totally know. I have a mom (nurse) and the best thing ever is moving on through life. Isn't it amazing? God is good! Take it easy!
Incomplete quadriplegic and have both fecal and urine Incontinence . I am lucky to have been able to walk again but damage has given me the problem of not making it . If I get the urge I must be very close to bathroom but a lot of time the deed has already done and unless I smell it or it goes in my groin area I don’t know it happens . My doctor says that it is healthier living like I am rather than get a bag . I’m disabled so when those accidents happen when shopping or in other public settings it’s pure depressing. Found your video while looking for a better diaper to wear as I’m not happy with my nite time prevails. Thanks for your testimony!! It was uplifting
Hi Crystal! I completely understand that sensation of "not making it." Living with such a profound disability takes a lot of strength. I know that soiling in public feels embarrassing and can shatter one's sense of independence. Ostomies can be wonderful ways to treat incontinence, but trusting your doctor's opinion is a good idea. Stomas can be complex to manage and may even cause more problems than they solve in some cases. In terms of diapers, the best recommendation I can make is the "Always Discreet Incontinence Underwear for Women" overnight version. I'll leave a link to them on Amazon below. Please let me know if you need any more help with finding your underwear match, and thank you for sharing your experience with incontinence. www.amazon.com/Always-Discreet-Incontinence-Postpartum-Disposable/dp/B07NLTMTP1/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=Always+Discreet+overnight&qid=1619830269&s=hpc&sr=1-4
Nice job. Good video, good info, well-framed. I dealt with a lot of problems like this in college due to an intestinal disease (we're still not sure but we call it Crohn's; it's some sort of autoimmune cousin that responds to the same treatments. Some doctors say it's 100% Crohn's, some say otherwise) starting at age 22. The horror of waking up having leaked onto my bed still haunts me now. That and having to wash my linens in the common laundry room for my on-campus apartment. Most of the time, I could handle the daytime accidents much better (although there were a few horrible incidents), and my "solutions" for the first 3-4 years were pretty lousy; part of my routine was to stop by a restroom everytime I entered or left a building and I knew every one that had those fan-folded paper towel dispensers and I kept a pile in my underwear for a long time. I was fortunate enough to have an apartment with its own bathroom. But to pay for it took me working 20hrs/week all through school, and in retrospect I don't know if this was the best idea. When I was really sick around 23-24, I had a really hard time digesting fat. So even eating the student staple spaghetti would have enough fat in the sauce (bottled Prego) and the tiny bit of olive oil to keep the noodles from sticking would pass through me. Fun fact, Carotene--which accounts for much of the color in tomatoes--is oil-soluable. So when I used the toilet after dinner I would get these orange-red oil sicks floating on the top of the water. And when I would leak in those situations, I would dye everything pizza-red. It's hard to hold oil, it feels like gas to the body's sensors and with Crohn's dz you have a lot of gas. A side sleeper, I would sometimes wake up finding I had already leaked fat and stool and mucus and sometimes it would be surrounded by a red halo. The laundry room closed at 10PM as it was on the top floor and there were noise issues, so I couldn't sneak up in the middle of the night. But I was up there around 9PM once and pulled out my sheets to check and scrub at the stain. Just as I did, I looked up and saw reflected in the window that the woman who lived across the hall from me had been standing behind me waiting for someone else and watching me the whole time. It was quite humiliating to have a stranger who saw me know my secret. At the time, I was limited to Student Health and when I explained what was going on, the doctors all tried to lump me in to the "college kid making bad choices or stressed out" categories). On the oil issue, one doctor would accused me of eating too much fat, but I'm talking one slice of pizza could set me off. Try going through multiple college degrees and never eating the free pizza when every dollar is a big deal. Being brave enough to start using diapers (first at night, later in the day) made a huge improvement in my life. It also really improved the condition of my skin; I was swollen and bleeding and the digestive enzymes would literally eat holes in my underwear. The modern pull-up protective underwear is so much better, but that wasn't available until I was like in graduate school. Or at least I didn't know where to find it. I am doing much better now; I am on my fourth MAb medication, but I think my disease is calming down as I age. It seems to be turning more into arthritis, which has a different set of challenges. Keep getting this message out so others won't have to suffer.
Hi there Christopher! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing your story. Your resilience and fortitude under such physical pain and psychological distress is impressive to say the least. Incontinence left me feeling devoid of any control over my body, and it sounds like you had a very similar experience. The fat-metabolism issue is not something I had to deal with, but it sounds terribly uncomfortable and inconvenient. That woman who was watching you in the laundry room didn't have any right to judge. I'm so glad that you're doing better despite having a such dismissive physicians back then. You should be so incredibly proud of the progress you have made--your story inspires me. I'll be praying that your autoimmune disease does not take too much more from you in the future, and that your arthritic symptoms can be alleviated by medication or physical therapy. Sending love and best wishes for a bright and healthy future. 💜
@@CecilyLivingBeyondtheBag I miss what I have lost, but things could be so much worse. I've had it bad again lately (which is why am surfing and thinking about it), plus they stopped making the pull-up underwear product I have used for the last seven years, so I have had to go back to a thicker product. With the doctors blaming you for much of your illness (boy do I know that song), how did you ever end up with a stoma? I've not seen that part of your story here.
Regarding bed pads, we ordered custom-made cloth pads from a seller on Etsy. I had ones made out of high-quality sheets that were big enough (basically 1/2 of a queen size bed) that I can tuck them in on both sides and cover the whole danger zone. They have saved the sheets many, many times. Under the sheet I also have a waterproof mattress pad. But I have very few large accidents anymore, and I've only had two urinary incidents, both of which when I had major urinary infections.
Oh my gosh, I love that idea! I also have one of those mattress covers but a tailor-made bed pad would be absolutely wonderful. I'm in the same boat as you--my overnight blow-outs are fairly rare now that I've gotten the hang of applying and leak-proofing my ostomy bag but it's always better to have more protection than less. What is the name of the company/person from whom you get your Etsy cloth pads? I'd love to check them out!
@@CecilyLivingBeyondtheBag The seller I used is "RachelDenise". There are other sellers on Etsy but she has done good work for me. Basically they are a sheet on top (I purchased ones similar in color and quality to our bedsheets) and PUL waterproof material on the bottom. I don't know what she has in the middle, it is some sort of quilting. She can make them bigger, but I figure you only need enough to do the middle; too big and they are hard to wash. We have ordered different sizes, but I just checked and my favorite ones are 40" high by as wide as she can make them from a queen flat sheet, so they can be tucked in on both sides. It is hard to find decent flat sheets right now without having to buy a set. I think she would have a hard time making them from any sort of material with stretch or satiney-stuff (and that doesn't absorb or wash well anyway). Ours have lasted many years so it is totally worth paying for quality sheets.
I have been feacally incontinent all my life and I've never been able to accept it. I get angry at my disfunctional body every single time. On top of that I am blessed with neurogenic bladder, and I do have to self cath about 8 times a day. I don't mind the cathing that much, because I can't pee on my own so no leakages. I use the exact same catheters you do, love them because they are so discreet. I stick 3 in my pocket for work and I have 5 more in my bag as back ups. Bed pads never work for me, I move too much in my sleep and I'll find them all crumpled up in my bed. I do bowel management every morning, and it keeps me clean 98 % of the time, but I still feel stressed over my incontinence all of the time. I basically already have a colostomy, I just can't stick a bag on it. I am planning to change that.
I worked at a job for 8 years where I was subject to constant health issues- lung and respiratory infections, bladder and kidney infections, pneumonia and diarrhea. For almost 8 years, I had to wear diapers almost daily because I had frequent and uncontrollable diarrhea, usually with only a minute's warning from my body that I was about to poop. wearing diapers just became a way of life for me. Cleaning up a messy BM away from home was always miserable and time-consuming. I always had to carry wet wipes and at least 3 extra diapers with me wherever I went. This made dating a bit difficult, especially when you have to explain to a woman why you have to wear diapers every time you leave you home.
Hi I'm so glad that I found this video. I am an older person who has many health problems including both bowel and bladder incontinence. I've been to many doctors who have basically told me I have to live with it......till I finally found one who looked at my scans and explained everything and saaid I'd been putting up with this for a long time (6 years). I'm finally going for ostomy surgery. I know it'll take some getting used to but I think it's the best for me. Thanks again for your informative videos!!
I suffered from nocturnal enuresis for a long time until I looked to alternative medicine. i found a herbal extract that stopped it within three days and it never happened again. I got the extract from #doctoremua
I've been having bowel incontinence for almost a year now as a result of my laparascopic right hemicolectomy and the struggle is definitely real. My entire ascending colon had to be removed in October of last year due to the presence of two large polyps that couldn't be removed using the scope. My BM consistency varies from liquid to semi solid to solid and back to liquid again every few days and what's worse of course is the unpredictability of when an urgent need to use the bathroom may arise. I may find myself in a situation where I'm unable to hold it in long enough to get to the bathroom and it's definitely frustrating to say the least. Sometimes I'd much rather have an ostomy than to continue suffering like this although my surgeon advised me recently that an ostomy would definitely require more maintenance than what I'm currently having to deal with, that and it is still a risky surgery especially given the post op complications I had within days of my surgery last year.
I recognize so much of this! Especially trying to hold it despite knowing I cannot. I am totally incontinent and basically do not use the toilet anymore. It feels so sad having to resort to bulky diapers. Urinary inco is ok but bowel inco is terrible. I get little warning and often realize I had an accident after the bowel movement happened and I leaked in the diaper. The look on the faces of nearby people when you have a loud accident in the queue at the groceries store store is heart breaking. Bed mats are a must have! I sometimes remove my diapers at night - which is really frustrating. No more nice clothing - instead awkward and embarrassing medical procedures 😢
Hi Lisa, thank you so much for sharing your story. It sounds like you've had far too much experience with the crippling anxiety and discomfort of incontinence. It makes every aspect of life more difficult and exhausting--I know. I'm glad you've discovered the little tricks like bed pads to help you sleep more soundly without a diaper. The clothing sacrifices were hard for me, too. Always wearing black leggings and baggy dark shirts so diapers and leaks wouldn't show really took its toll on my self confidence. Incontinence was one of the most difficult challenges I've ever faced because it's unrelenting. Surgical scars heal, ulcers eventually fade away, but incontinence follows you everywhere. Please don't lose hope though, all those people in line who give you sideways looks don't have half the grit you do. Stay strong! 💪
@@CecilyLivingBeyondtheBag Thanks for your support ❤️ I still sleep with diapers. But add bed pads for extra security. What really helped was that my supporting husband found and purchase an jumpsuit/overall with closure in the back. I look silly in these but it stops me from tearing/ripping my diapers while asleep. I wish you the very best Lisa
Hi I just wanna say that you are not alone I totally understand what you’re going through ,I live the same thing I hope you doing well and I also wanna say that you can be proud of you because it’s hard to live with this . I can relate as I had I spinal cord injury that left me the same way totally Incontinence and you never know where you will be when it happens. I almost had a Walmart store have me arrested because of a bowel accident and I ditched my cart to get out of the store and was detained at door by employee because the person by me shopping heard it and was making an issue out of my health issue . She literally chased after me screaming out loud while I was trying to be discreet on a depressing exit
What a beautiful black kitty. Love black cats 🐈⬛ s. Me and husband are both disabled and have alot of health conditions we are dealing with, it’s hard . Iam so sorry ur faced with this health condition or conditions so young. U are so brave and strong in how ur handling ur condition. I've been urine incontinent for yrs then also became bowel also my wife is the big supporter being older male the ego hit rock bottom while having to wear diapers she has helped so much.
Hi Glenda! Thanks for sharing this. Incontinence is always a struggle--emotionally and physically. It warms my heart that you have such a supportive spouse. My mom has been that supportive person for me. I couldn't imagine getting through my days without her. Wishing you and your wife all the best. Please keep your chin up...there's always something better waiting on the horizon. ❤
Thank you so much for your support and encouragement, Ron. My mom also struggles with incontinence due to IC. I know that it’s a painful and debilitating illness, but knowing we’re all in this together makes the hard days a little easier. Sending love 💜
Thank you for your video! I have feacal incontinence caused by nerve damage I have 2 slipped discs and spinal stenosis. It's humiliating to just not know you've been. I take diacalm to help it. ❤️
You definitely aren't alone 🥺❤️ I'm only 24 but my bladder has gotten so bad just to function I legit have to wear a full on diaper 😭 as helpful as they are it's so humiliating and It sucks so much🥺❤️
I have a spastic bladder and dumping syndrome so I know exactly what you're talking about. I've had a stoma for my bladder for 21 years and I got a colostomy last November for an emergency situation. I had the chance to have a revision but the bag is SO much more convenient. I do have a waterproof cover on my bed because the doctor didn't close up my urethra in case my bladder got too full while I slept. It doesn't happen often (couple times a year) but the cover fits under the top sheet and it's great.
Hey Jodi, thanks for your insightful comment! 😊 I’m really happy that you’ve discovered the magic of bedpads-they’re a must. Similar to you, my urinary incontinence is very rare but the waterproofing helps with both the ostomy and the occasional bladder leaks. And I totally agree about the ostomy-even if I could have a revision (which is unlikely) I don’t think I’d ever go back to my life before a stoma. Stay strong 🤟🏻
I have had OAB for 30 plus years with interstitial cystitis, spasms and lots of urge leakage. I have to straight cath for retention sometimes too or I get overflow as well. I am now having fecal IC for about 4 to 5 years years now and my bowel incontinence started out as once every few months. it was just a strong urge I could not make, and it is getting so very much worse. I often wake up and have pooped myself or I jump up to run to the toilet and basically going from laying to standing I defalcate myself almost immediately. The bladder control I can get by with pull ups though I have to change more often than if I use quality diapers. But since my bowel incontinence is now multiple times a week sometimes even in a day I am using diapers 24/7. Plastic back tight fitting is what works the best with tall leak guards are the only thing that helps. North Shore Mega max is my #1 pick. Mine is more loose stool most of the time but it can be firm too. I have IBS and am more often constipated than the runs from it without treating it. I have a horrible gastric disease called Gastroparesis.🥶😭 Living with it has been the hardest last 5 to 6 years of my life. The stomach paralyzes and stops moving making me very very sick. Non stop nausea and non-retractable vomiting!!! So it took several year to figure out the triggers and what makes it better or worse. I learned havening IBS-C sets off my GP very fast if my bowel stops moving. So to help prevent I take prescription meds to make my bowel draw in more water as well as Miralax every day. So I can either live with throwing up and feeling nauseated every day the rest of my life that will put me in the hospital for weeks and I will still have some fecal IC along with the extreme bloating and pain of GP. Or I an take meds to empty my colon that I already do not have much control over. At first it was always I get a urge that just became so painful I could not hold it in. But as my other neurological disorders (not mentioned) have progressed I an often fell myself passing gas or stool with no pressure or urge in my rectum. That really scares me and is such a wrong feeling to just feel poop come out on its own. I have numbness all around my anus and scrotum even up the shaft of my ( you know). Just today was one of those bad days and it always makes me feel better to now I am not alone. So I came across your channel and I cant tell you what it means to have such a young person not afraid to talk about theses things. I am 47 years old. My wife is a year younger and she had rectal cancer at age 23. She had her rectum removed and the very last few inches of her colon too. She has a sigmoid colostomy over half of her life now. She has done good for the most part but now has a huge Hernia around her ostomy that needs fixed as well as a very serious set of scar adhesions. But life with a bag has never slowed her down any at all. Much like you before her ostomy she spent a lot of time in the restroom and it gave her life back. Much like diapers have for me. I am on the fence about talking to my doctor about a stoma for my stool but I just do not feel my fecal incontinence is worth the risk yet of the surgery. But I know taking care of the bag will be easier than diapers for #2 and I would not be afraid at all thanks to the wife and stories like yours. . I really do not mind diapers to be honest. Lets face it I am not going to let piss and shit run down my leg nor would anyone else in my condition. North Shore diapers have changed my life. They have products to fit everyone and the best customer service in the industry. They offer 100% risk free samples to those new to their products. Premium diapers are not cheap but they way out preform those cheap products in everyway. Anyone that has tried Depends or store brands and just frustrated about the piss pore performance needs to check out NortSore.com. Adam and his staff well help you to feel embraced by choicing which one of their Products will work best. I am not paid to promote NorthShore or any other brand but after 30 l plus years of OAB and 5 years of Fecal IC I now what products work and what does not. Again thank you for the Share. I will like and subscribe for you, Sorry to ramble. I have often thought of starting a blog for incontinence and Gastroparesis both. GP is a very serious health disorder that affects Millions. Mine was so bad my Gastric Doctor wanted me to get a J-tube for feeding and just give up eating food traditionally. He wanted me to eat though the feeding tube and my IV port for life. This is very common for this disease as it advances. But against his will I went and had a experimental type procedure to get a pacemaker that shocks my stomach and help it empty. That was 19 months ago and I have not seen that doctor since then. I am far from cured but last year I spent 5 days in the hospital for my GP and the year prior!! So if anyone has any questions on Gastroparesis or bladder and Bowel incontinence I would like to help end the stigma and put some positive messages out. No matter what illness you have their is always hope. Do not give up. Again sorry to ramble on forever. Thanks again for the positive share.
Love your cat. Im a very active 59 year old with a colostomy because of ruptured diverticulitis. I have urinary incontinence due to cystocele. I am not overweight. I can't find a urinary incontinence product that doesn't leak. I have urine that runs down my leg soaking my clothes. Do you know of any products that won't leak?
Hi Jackie! Thank you so much, Freya and Valkyrie are just little angels and they both love getting compliments. I am so sorry to hear about your struggles with urinary incontinence. I know exactly how you feel, the burdens of incontinence are absolutely devastating. The best recommendation I can make is to look for a well-fitting brand of adult diapers designed for petite women. I tried a bunch of diaper types but I ran into similar issues as you have. Many of them were ill-fitting and designed for people with larger body types. The diapers that worked best for me were the "Always Discreet Incontinence Underwear for Women" in size small or medium. I'll put a link below so you can find them on Amazon. Always also has a version that is designed for overnight protection, so I'd recommend looking into those as well. Please keep me updated and let me know if you need any more help with finding your underwear match! www.amazon.com/Always-Discreet-Incontinence-Postpartum-Disposable/dp/B00KXUW72G/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=Always+Discreet+Incontinence+Underwear+for+Women%2C+Small%2FMedium+Size&qid=1617404516&sr=8-5
My wife is where you are at, but she is 74 yrs old and don't know where to go now. The doctors local do not want to do or even talk to us about her. We are at our end. She has to shower/bathe 2 to 4 times a day. Thanks for your input.
Omg loved this, I'm 38 born with Spina Bifida and trying to live life with wearing diapers where a challenge. I'm just taking a break from my indwelling catheter and now trying to do straight cath again and it's frustrating especially having urges late at night. I'm using diapers and guards for overnight protection but it's not working 🙄
Can't you do a indwelling balloon cath attached to a bag for the nights? I hate having to get up at night to cath, especially when it's cold and my hands are shaking. Near impossible to cath then.
@@MSchipper I ohh so hate having to be given a cath when in the hospital if I'm having urinary retention no doubt related to BPH at my age as getting a cath hurts to no end and makes me cringe just thinking about it.
I am a combat vet who has a strong urinary urge incontinence. I especially want the young girls to understand there are many men who simply looking for a wonderful woman to share their life with. Don't give up there are men who are of the rescuer type and love to nurture, care for the woman they love. I can understand you may find it annoying at times but it's far better than someone who is kidding themselves about a pretty face and not much else. For the young men I really feel for you gents I think it's much harder for us men to find a women that will not see you a less of a man. HOWEVER there most certainly are women, who also, of the care taker type by nature. After all there is a clear reson why there are more female nurses. Be strong folks.
Thanks so much for sharing. I have an ileo anal anastomosis too. No colon. I have crohns ànd have similar challenges. This has made me avoid many social situations. Thanks for sharing. ❤️
Intermittent catheters are like a miracle to me. I got urine retention and Ive been using self cath. for a long time. I use disposable underwear for late leaks.
I have IC, IBS, fibromyalgia and a hypertonic pelvic floor. It's incredibly painful just living. I get bed pads and pull-ups from Medicaid. My urogynecologist is suggesting Interstim, totally hesitant about the procedure. I feel okay wearing diapers, thank you for your video.
Yes! I have solved I now but had a lot of issues with the products in the beginning. First and foremost the embarrassment of having to wear diapers and instead tried to used small pads, which did not work at all. It leaked instead, which is even worse for all involved and not very hygienic. Also, there are clothing adjustments to be made such as pants (not necessarily medical) that better accommodate the pad/diaper as well as bodystocking/onesies to hide it. And a lot of other things to do in order to make the process more efficient. Large wet wipes as well as creams/ointments.
@@lisahansson2107 I tried using pads, but there is nothing that really worked right for me. Plus they would come unstuck from my underwear and stick to me, so now we were all stuck together. I never had to use special clothing, but when I used a plastic-covered diaper (this was in the late 1990s), I would wear cotton briefs over it to help with the noise. With jeans over that, nobody would notice.
How you deal with all this and stay positive. You have learned so much. I have an ostomy and it is still depressing. Why can't our bodies stay healthy. Love to you.
Great Video and thanks for sharing‼️ Just came across your channel, for my inconvenience, I simply wear diapers, of course, I get the high quality one's which cost more, however, they are well worth it. Now I wear the diaper to bed vs laying on the bed pad, as it seems to be a simpler method of controlling the problem.I've also experienced the anxiety of wearing diapers in public and to school pretty much the same way as you more or less. It's definitely a learning curve.
Believe me I understand just what you were going through. It is difficult for anyone who isn’t going through this to understand. I am considering a colostomy again. I have been going through this for 15 yrs.
Thank you so much for writing this, Barbara. Your empathy means a lot to me--I'm sorry you've had to experience life with incontinence for so long. I completely understand why you might want to consider having an ostomy again. My ostomy has returned so much of my freedom. I think if you miss it, you should consider talking to your doctor about getting your reversal "reversed, (if that's possible for you right now). Please keep me updated--stay strong 💜
Hi I tried to post this earlier but I have MS and basically since I was too I have been trying to potty train. I have periods of using regular underwear but then it’s inevitable that I’m back to using diapers
Hello! Thank you so much for sharing your story. I cannot imagine how difficult life must have been, dealing with a medical condition like MS for all your life. I hope your condition gets better; diapers are a tough thing to be reliant upon--believe me I know. Please try to stay strong. You should be immensely proud of what you've had to overcome.
Cecily Living_Beyond the Bag Cecily Living_Beyond the Bag thank you so much and the same goes for you. This story alone shows great triumph. Not being able to control your bowels as a young woman had to be so defeating. Everyone has enough social pressure and women have crazy beauty standards to compete with and then something so personal and embarrassing and uncomfortable on top of that is rough. I’m glad the bag is working. I may consider using this option. Pooping your pants daily, diaper or not makes life pretty difficult. My father is a survivor or colon cancer and he has very little of his intestines left from his surgeries, he deals with bowel incontinence and an immense amount of pain. My mom who is a retired nurse is always encouraging him to go the bag route, he is very afraid and I think embarrassed about it. I’ll share your videos and channel with him to perhaps educate him on what the realities of an ostomy are
This response is so heartwarming; I rarely meet people with such a unique perspective on life and the painful cards that some of us are dealt. I’m rooting for you and your father. Please do share with him that ostomies are a way out of pain and suffering for so many people in the world. They come with their own challenges but those who need them tend never to look back, myself included. I count myself lucky to have my bag. I think you and your father have been given a tougher road than most-please let me know if you want to have a more private conversation. We can chat on Instagram! I love connecting with fellow chronic pain survivors like you.

Yes I know as I had a operation on my prostate several years ago and before that I had to have a catheter in me so that I could pee because it got to the point that I couldn’t pee at all until I had my operation and when I had it I ended up wetting my self and having to wear diapers 24/7 as a side effect and I’m still wearing diapers now and wetting myself ok Thanks
I suffered from nocturnal enuresis for a long time until I looked to alternative medicine. i found a herbal extract that stopped it within three days and it never happened again. I got the extract from #doctoremua
Hi there Parker! Thank you so much for this comment...it means a lot that my words resonated with you. I'm glad diapers have been helpful; I remember when I first started using them and it was such a relief to know that I could fall asleep and have some comfort that I wouldn't wet the bed overnight (bed pads also helped immensely with that particular fear). Stay strong and know that you're not alone. 💜
Hi, first of all i would like to tell you are really strong and handling your life with courage. I have only gas leakage and it smells complete day like a stool i can hold stool and urine. I have did colonscopie, anal manometry, lactlose test but doctor said everything is good, currently i am doing kegal exercises. Because of this bad smell i left my job. It would be really helpful if you can give me any suggestions and please reply.
I have had to wear a diaper for all of my 14 years of life. When you poo in a public place, It's pure panic and embarrassment like akin to... I can't even describe it, just humiliating😔. BUT! I will hopefully get a ostomy😁😁😁

My wife and I wish you well, keep strong.
Love and best wishes from England
Hi Graham, many thanks to both of you! I really appreciate the positivity. It truly means so much. ❤️

I still sleep with diapers. But add bed pads for extra security. What really helped was that my supporting husband found and purchase an jumpsuit/overall with closure in the back. I look silly in these but it stops me from tearing/ripping my diapers while asleep.

@@MSchipper us too, one male black cat named Vader and one female black cat named Wednesday
I suffer from urinary incontinence due to IC and a chronic history of kidney stones. You are not alone. I stand with you in solidarity
Thanks for alot of great videos. Hope you will start filming again..
Thank you for sharing. You inspire me.
I will like and subscribe for you,
Sorry to ramble.

You are wonderful. You should look into bed pads that are able to be washed it's what the hospitals used to use.
“Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, INCONTINENT, fierce, despisers of those that are good,”~2 Timothy 3:3
What kind of diapers do you recommend and not recommend? Could you do a video about how you wore them discreetly and which ones to use?
I will definitely do that! Thanks so much for the suggestion.
@@CecilyLivingBeyondtheBag did you ever get a chance to make that video?
@@lisahansson2107 I tried using pads, but there is nothing that really worked right for me. Plus they would come unstuck from my underwear and stick to me, so now we were all stuck together. I never had to use special clothing, but when I used a plastic-covered diaper (this was in the late 1990s), I would wear cotton briefs over it to help with the noise. With jeans over that, nobody would notice.
How you deal with all this and stay positive. You have learned so much. I have an ostomy and it is still depressing. Why can't our bodies stay healthy. Love to you.
Great Video and thanks for sharing‼️
Just came across your channel, for my inconvenience, I simply wear diapers, of course, I get the high quality one's which cost more, however, they are well worth it.
Please keep me updated--stay strong 💜
so very brave .i have both bladder and bowel problems..do you do a blog.are you on tic-tok or twitter.mark

You are amazing I have both I have cerebral palsy.

Yes I know as I had a operation on my prostate several years ago and before that I had to have a catheter in me so that I could pee because it got to the point that I couldn’t pee at all until I had my operation and when I had it I ended up wetting my self and having to wear diapers 24/7 as a side effect and I’m still wearing diapers now and wetting myself ok
Thanks

Hi love this video I am bowel incontinent myself I use diapers to help with mine they work for me for the most part
Disposable gloves too
