After 30min fighting Penance I forgot to Dispel Tidus. He died, then Right arm recovered. At this time I had no Overdrive charged. Afterwards I Revived Tidus and Wakka died. I had no choice but to revive him. Second arm Recovered. I used Entrust on Tidus hoping wakka's reels could help. However, after that I just saw "Judgement day". That was my story.
That's what caught me out first time. I was wondering why the same attack was dealing more damage the second time round. Didn't realise the character had fullbreak on them. XD
Going through some tough times right now and re-watching this playlist as I go to bed really helps take the edge off. You have a way of making people feel like everything is going to be alright not just in the game but life in general. Truly love your work man. You are the FFX Commentary god. You and Darkkefka both rock actually. Thanks for making this series Dansgo08, I love you man
dude, i loved this series! this ticks all the boxes: 1080p, absolutely fantastic/insightful commentary, no major spoilers (not that I'd care since I already completed it long ago + multiple times as well), no talking over cutscenes, showing off everything, nice annotations, ... What an incredible game and walkthrough.
Your various FFX videos inspired me to re-play the HD Remaster version while watching this series. Today I finally defeated Penance for the first time. Cheers for all the great content.
The craziest thing to me is that I've been a fan of FFX since it came out, and I never knew that Penance existed until you kept mentioning it in this playthrough. This is literally the first time I've heard of/seen this part of the game.
I've been playing this game for about 12 years and never been able to 100% it but I'm nearly there now. Just dark bahamut, magus sisters and penance left now. It's all thanks to this walkthrough. So sincerely, thanks Burk
Hey man, I just wanted to thank you, and tell you how much I appreciated your thoroughness on this walk through. I can’t imagine the hours you put in to making this possible. I’ve owned and played this game many times since it’s release, and I’ve discovered new shit that I had no idea about, thanks to you. Thanks again, peace and love. Cheers!
Hey man thank you so much. I enjoyed the walkthrough very much even though I did not watch evey episode, simply the dark aeon guids and the penance battle. The detail you go into is hands down the deepest detail I've seen in any guides for FFX and you honestly deserve more views. I started FFX HD a year ago, and had to stop because I got busy but finally came back and beat the aoens, and penance. The reason it was so easy was thanks to your help so, thank you.
oReanomationo Thanks, that was the goal when I set out to do this. I've done my part, all I can hope is that more people find this. You are welcome to share it around if you think it will be of use to others :)
I had even lower stats than he did for the weaker dark aeons and because of the information he gave me I beat them all, with dark shiva game overing me once because I made a bad mistake with auto haste and equipping the wrong armour.
thanks bro just beat penance with this strategy..165 hours logged in ffx i got every tropy except the sphere grids max out trophys...but theres no need to i beat everything...now on to ff x-2
Been here for everything man, since part 1. It's been an absolute pleasure and I look forward tot he rest of the content you upload as well. And when you head to Turkey, I expect some epic movie shorts to watch ;D
Omg I did this the whole afternoon... Got it on the 2nd try, thanks to you and your guide. Now platinum is mine after watching the eternal calm... . Back in 2006 it took me 300+ hours to do the same! Now I got everything in 140 hours. You really helped me out a lot to be as efficient as I could. Thank you Sir for your hard work!
I think I've played through the story of this game maybe 10 times over the years since it came out. Only found out about Penance once I got the PS3 version but never beat him. Finally years later got the game on steam and been slowly playing through the game again and decided to beat the two bosses I never had. Thanks so much for the walkthrough of this guy, would have given me way more trouble I'm sure without this.
My battle with penance took more than 30 mins. After those endless immolation i never expected lulu’s toy to deliver the finishing blow! I’ve never been more proud
I've played this game for so many years and never beaten any of the Dark Aeons, let alone Penance. Today, I defeated Penance for the first time thanks to your guides for everything. It was a wild ride but it feels good to finally snag a victory I'd never even dreamed of! (Even if it took me three attempts... dang Judgement Day XD). I wanted to stop by and share because without your wonderful guides, I'd never have tried. Thanks so much for all the FF content, and especially my favourite FFX. It's always a pleasure watching these walkthroughs and No Sphere Grid runs, and I come back to them just to listen all the time. Keep up the great vids!
After nearly 200 hours (first time playing FFX to now) I finally conquered Penance. All thanks to your videos dansg08. You helped me get all the Celestial Weapons and all the other previous fights. It was amazing. The weird thing is I want to go and replay the story again now…
Thanks to you I managed to defeat Penance. I can't find a way to say how much I appreciate your dedication and all the effort you put in making these awesome videos. Keep up like this and, again, thanks a lot. From one of your italian fans.
I bought the remaster a while back and turned it back on this weekend I used your guides the whole way man and was able to put Penance down today. The videos were great man I hope you're able to do more FF stuff in the future. Thanks a lot.
Took me ages to figure out why Rikku kept getting killed by immolation, even with Ultra Nul All boosting her defence. Turns out I had customized +20% Mag Def instead of normal Defence. Made her a new armour and he dropped pretty easily.
Watching the series was absolutely great, one of my favorite childhood games and as I'm in sort of the situation as you in the case of not really playing others FF's so it is really close to my hearth! Thanks for the in-depth playtrough!
i can not thank you enough for this walkthrough. so good and detailed. simply brilliant, you deserve all praise you get and more!! thanks to you i am going to try penance without defeating the arms (i know others did this before)! the only challenge i really consider doing.. almost done with preperations.. oO
FFX has been in my life since i was in diapers. My dad played it and got me and all of my siblings into it. I began playing when i was 8 and finally finished it at 17. Now at 19 I began trying to beat it and its entirety.I never knew about penance till watching your channel. I also didn't know how high I could raise stats either or BHPL you have really been a there for all my replay journey of the game. My Stats are maxed 255. Sphere grid complete for everyone, and BHPL with ribbon armours for everyone and Dark aeons defeated. Just got this last bastard to get lol. Thank you for teaching me and being so in depth with this game. Its given me a brand new love for it 💕
Hmmmm FFX is one of my favorite FFX games of all time and I’ve not once even heard of Penance 😂 I remember watching your channel when you first started because I was looking to watch a FFX walkthrough not being able to play it at the time. You’ve come a long way lol
Dude, i played this game in my childhood, but never got to even max stat my characters, but now, and thanks to your guide, i have 100% the game, defeating penance was tough, but very satisfying, thank you very much
As a little tip: When you hit the 7 mil mark, you can use your potion count as an indicator for Penance HP. A single full round counts as 1 immolation. If you manage to do 1-2 quick hits(there will be a window where you can only hit once) + 1 counter attack each round you do 200k-300k to his body. You will use quick hit on the arms the moment they pop up and only dispel while no arm is present So you will need around 20 to 30 potions/rounds to win. Its also a safe strat that can only fail if you do something wrong. In the end this "super"boss isn't that super if you do enough preps. ;P And now I need to finish the Spheregrid for everyone best trophy ever! :/
I really loved the story in this game but I found the combat tedious. That's why I'm thankful for guys like you who put in the effort and upload it. That way I can just watch instead. :)
Love this guide! It has been so detailed. I finally beat penance and no trophy unlocked. Had to reload other save an do it the cheap way and it finally unlocked. I have the save from when I really beat him. Got 9 Master Spheres and 44 Dark Matters and a break dmg limit weapon for Wakka with 3 free slots.
Relative to the scale of time I have to play games outside of what I'm recording, it's too big of an undertaking. I actually brought a PS2 version for my backwards compatible PS3 last year but had issues with frame rates/interlacing, and I never got round to setting up an emulated version on my PC. If they release a HD remaster I will probably look into it and play it at some point in the distant future :)
I just have defeated Penance. It took two tries to do it. I forgot to dispel after the armor break and then could not recover. One thing I did was instantly do he dispel after getting the amor break. I just kept working slowly and finally he fell. I would have to agree that the 50,000,000 hp boss from FF XII was harder. I need to get my dancing shoes on and get the platinum for this game.
Yiazmat is one of the hardest bosses in the Final Fantasy franchise precisely because he is so durable. I recently took the challenge of defeating him in 1 stage (because you can leave the stage and re-enter and lose no damage done already which I feel demeans the difficulty of the fight somewhat) and succeeded after approximately 3 hours. This was in the US version which has a damage limit of 9999 and after a certain point on Yiazmat 6999. He can wipe out your party of 3 pretty quickly, but this game ha a party of 6. I fought him with 3 level 99s and 3 level 75s, only bringing in 1 of the 75s one time. Considering the preparation I put into that battle through ultimate equipment, level grinding, side questing, etc, I made it to Yiazmat around 130 hours in. If I took on the challenge of doing it more speedily, it could be done in about the same time as Penance I think! But I don't have the will to do so. I think overall the battles are of similar difficulty given the amount of game knowledge and preparation required for each, but I haven't fought Penance myself because I only have the ps2 version of FFX. So all of my speculation about Pennce may be incorrect. My final point is that one should emphasize the dramatic difference in durability. In FFX it is quite possible to hit Penance for 99,999 and his HP counting all the arm kills is probably still lower than Yiazmat's 50,100,000. In the latter case, as I mentioned, characters can only hit for about 10% or less of what FFX characters are capable of.
I spent a long time preparing for Yiazmat and it never occurred to me to buff myself when I did it. I can't remember when the time I finally did kill him if I left the stage or not... but I don't think I did. I will tell you tho that at 3 lv99's w their special weapon and appropriate accessories, I was able to afk for about 70% of that fight when adding bubble, protect, and shell (thought of years later). I can't speak to Penance since I am still preparing but the idea of Penance seems much more difficult than Yiazmat. It took me about a month to defeat him without the buffs (and I was 12).
I didn't know about the second phase. So I watched the first part of the vid for advice on armor. And got effed up by immolation. I was so tempted to just zanmato his ass but I checked out your strat for phase 2 and beat him legit! Love this LP man. Finally going for that platinum, just sphere grid and sphere theatre trophies left!!
30:00 - Could you please explain how your character survives "Immolation" here? At this point it doesn't seem like any of your characters have the Cheer x5 up anymore so they should be taking +10,000 damage but Tidus survives the hit.
I finally defeated Penance after so many years and it is thanks to your video!! Sadly though my perseverance trophy did not pop, has anyone else had this glitch?! I am literally sad because I spent so long defeating him just to receive nothing. Can anyone let me know how I would be able to pop it without actually defeating him over again.
Yiazmat in FFXII definitely takes longer....he's got around 50 million HP (NOT an exaggeration) and you can't exceed 9999 damage, so you can imagine how long that takes. I've been fighting it for around 4-6 hours in my current FFXII file, and it's not even at the halfway point yet. >.< Thankfully, you can run away and save anytime, so you don't have to kill it in one sitting. The only other 'ultimate' FF boss I've never beaten is Ozma from FFIX. That battle is a race against time and luck, because if Ozma uses Meteor, you are DEAD...no way to survive that. THANK YOU for all your helpful tips and advice against Penance! I killed it just recently. Yiazmat and Ozma are next on my list. (nervous sweat)
I managed to beat Ozma with the insane difficulty mod. As you said, it's a luck game. Basically you have to burst the thing down as fast as you can and pray it doesn't either curse or meteor your whole party lol Eiko is essential too
How to kill a gobstopper: defeat hades. Get his pumice and have boost on dagger. Give the stuff the freindly monsters want and when you give the diamond to yan then you are ready. Prepare. Make sure you do use shock from Steiner, ark with dagger and if you can use Zidane trance use his trance with grand lethal and put in quina or Freya just in case. That will make you win easily but yeah damn gobstopper
I feel it should be noted that Penance is actually an okay way to grind Dark Matter. Cause destroying the arms gives you either a single dark matter or a master sphere. And you can flee from Penance. Given how many times you’ll likely destroy the arms in your attempts to beat penance, you’ll likely end up with quite a bit of dark matter.
I always thought Penance was a Final Aeon from a summoner who failed to kill Sin. Since Sin wasn't destroyed, Yu Yevon never ate it. What do you guys think?
So far I've watched every single video that you have so far on this. I'm very happy with what you did, it's nice to see someone go through this - that just wants to hack at it without a lot of experience, and is subject to die at any moment. That makes it really enticing to watch. I will watch the rest of your series, because it's well worth the time. My PS2 console, was made with a manufacturing flaw. I don't care what disc I put in it, the adjustment on the spin wheel is wrong in height. As soon as I turn it on, it starts digging a groove right in the disc, and then the disc is so unplayable it's not funny. I had no clue it was doing this, until this very game. My game seized, right at the last battle of Zanarkand before the battle with sin. It even did my Final Fantasy 12, but I would not dare let it do it to my Metal Gear Solid,(ps1) because by that time I knew what was going on. In time I'll get everything back, and do what you just did. Only thing, is I am doing it on the original version, not the remake. Keep up the good work cuz we all are with you! The only reason why I want to watch Final Fantasy 10-2, is because you mentioned Titus is going to appear in the end, other than that I cannot stand this baby paced game that only uses dance measures to fight with. That is so annoying compared to the other Final Fantasy games that they have, that are really good in battle mechanics, and actually fighting instead of silly dancing like little girls. I've always thought this game was made for babies, and not for an adult like me, or you. Other than that I love the graphics though, they are very good , but I just can't stand the dance technique, it's stupid, personally I just don't think it belongs - kind of out of place. To be honest with you, when it comes to fighting someone, I don't plan on break dancing, or doing the Cha-Cha either, but I sure enough do plan on doing the Rumba right on your head, LOL. That's just an example how I see fights should be, really can you imagine Kumari doing a dance for a battle? Haha that would be a real laugh, and kind of too silly to watch after a while, I think I would throw up. Because I know Final Fantasy is not a baby-paced game. If it was, there wouldn't be so much strategies to figure out, just that simple.
You didnt do the hot spurs overdrive that increases your overdrive charge by 1.5. Since hot spurs and eccentrick stack so you'll always get your overdrive when penance attacks. Well doing it this method anyway, not sure that is the case if you have break HP limit.
I beat penance for the first time today. I did it without the extra "penance" armour. Just Auto-phoenix, auto-haste, auto-protect and ribbon. 1st phase is easy. 5x cheer you survive easily and just heal up with pray and trio. 2nd phase is tough. Immolation will kill you. My strategy was to use three stars everytime 2 different characters died, so I could use quick hit for a short amount of time again - with this tactic it will let you hit 0-2 times in between his arm respawns depending on how lucky you get (if he kills one person mutliple times in a row you have 2 characters being able to use quick hit for a while). It took very long, but I did it! Edit: using overdrives with my method is not recommended. The arms will sync up because it will respawn quicker if you kill it quicker - You basically need the downtime rythm of the arms to be out of phase.
Would it be a bad idea to also use the Hot Spurs mix for that extra 1.5x Overdrive rate? That way when he moves to Immolation the Overdrive Gauges will get maxed every time instead of falling just barely short from time to time. Apparently it can stack with Eccentrick.
I also had the problem that the overdrive doenst fill completely. I solved it by using Cheer 3 times instead of 5 times. That way Immolation does enough damage to fill your overdrive. You can also use Rikkus overdrive to mix overdrive *2 and then overdrive * 1,5.
Has anyone else experienced beating all the dark aeons and not getting a penance cutscene? I’ve checked out all the locations for the dark aeons, but yojimbo 5 times, Ixion 2 times and still nothing
I've been chipping away his health for like 30 minutes and i suddenly lose concentration and let him regenerate both arms. Gotta say i didn't have to watch the end of your video to see it. Eventhough i was furious the attack was cool.
i came up with a theory for it the other day. but i think you're on the right track. So i think Penance is considered pretty much non-canon to start with. So its a grain of salt kind of thing. but there's no fun in that. But the name basically means punishment. So the reason there are powerful summoners trying to kill you is because you're willing to expose Yevon. The only thing keeping Yevon in power is Sin, because he's used as a vessel for their propaganda. The Dark Aeons are like secret weapons of Yevon used to destroy and punish anything that threatens it. So i think you're right that Gandof's final Aeon is Penance. i think that Penance was so powerful when he beat Sin, that he cracked open the Earth, and Yevon decided to lock it away. i don't know why or how he would have been so powerful, but whatever. So the Dark Aeons defeat unlocks Penance again so he can punish the threat to Yevon. If Sin is defeated, Yevon can no longer exist. and that also explains why they don't just use Penance and the Dark Aeons to destroy Sin. But the rebuttal to that is that Penace doesn't appear to be any kind of Aeon. but more like a machine built by Yevon, just like the ones you fight in Zanarkand ruins. But made out of the Pyreflies that made the Dark Aeons. That's also backed up by the fact that he doesn't have an Overdrive ability, and he explodes like a machine when you defeat him. so he's like a mix of Yevon machine parts and pyreflies. So that's another theory. Maybe somebody can link those 2 theories and come up with the ultimate theory. i don't know.
After fighting this guy for about 30 mins, somehow I messed up one turn and the second arm appeared right before his turn and he got me with judgement day (luckily I had auto life)...I tried in vain to catch back up with all my defensive buffs, but it was too much to catch up on and he finally finished me off. :/
Did you use expert sphere grid for this playthrough? I know this is old af and you'll likley never see this but if anyone does and you know I appreciate the answer. I assume you did but I'm hoping I can just fix mine because I REALLY don't want to get the CW again lol that's the only thing that keeps me from making multiple playthroughs of this game. The damn race and bb matches
I just beat the dark aeons and penance using Rikku, Auron and Yuna. All characters 255: strength, magic, defense, magic def and agility:. ~130 luck Dark magus sisters were the hardest aeons. Without Wakka and Tidus and their overdrive it took a while to kill one sister. Penance: Probably took me 90 minutes without Wakka or tidus. I had to attack one at a time.. i forgot about three stars and the zero mp cost. I used so many megalixers or super elixir from Rikku.. to replenish my MP.. Used auron’s dragon fang to attack the body and the arm. It was never ending. But hey I just beat penance and the dark aeons for the first time! I am done with FFX now. But I may play it on my switch rather than ps4/vita
Yiazmat has like 50 million hit points. It's insane, though there is a save crystal you can use to heal but when you get out of range Yia starts casting buffs like protect and regen, so it's smart to only run back if you need to. I always try fighting the super bosses but I've only beaten the ones in FF7 and FF8 (and Nemesis in the original version of 10). Some are just too tough for me (like Omega weapon in FF5 and the super babel dude in the DS version of 4) and I probably could've beaten Ozma in 9 if I wanted to put in the effort of exploiting the AI.
Yiazmat has an insane amount of health, but it's kind of pointless since you can leave mid battle and return with all of your progress still there. He can essentially be fought in chunks.
KH-mixerX Against Yaizmat, With the right gear and set up you can start the fight, go to a certain spot and not do anything at all and sit back and watch your party whittle away at Yaizmat's health while he goes down.
More to the point, how many times you used Attack Reels in the story, compared to how many against the Dark Aeons, compared to how many against Penance alone
Is there any explanation as to what Penance is? Haven't played FFX since the original release so I feel like I'm missing some context for this boss. I'm guessing from his spawning in The Calm, and using the Yu Yevon theme that he's the Aeon that last slayed Sin in the traditional manor?
I was in the calm lands catching monsters for the arena, and for some reason the trophy for beating penance unlocked, I've never even unlocked Nemesis on the ps3 or ps4 version
Slice & Dice > Blitz Ace in my opinion. Blitz Ace last hit its pretty hard to hit, and damage difference is pretty minor, also S&D don't pull u that much down in ATB que
When Penance dropped below 9mil HP, he automatically had haste effect on (using PC version). It didn't seem like Penance had haste on himself in this video. Why?
Is Mr Penance the first "final aeon" to first defeat Sin? He was resurrected in the calm land's scar. Penance was Yunalesca's husband and he's out for revenge. There's a scene in FFX-2 where it is revealed that Yunalesca is still alive but a fiend. Maybe when Yunalesca survived the battle, she summoned the Dark Aeons and awaked her final aeon. All the people we see with the dark aeons are unsent and we don't see them summon the dark aeons. They could work for Yunalesca. The reason why Braska's final aeon is so weak compared to Penance is because Jecht was still in control and he wanted to be killed. This is just a 5 minute theory I thought of from watching this video. It was be interesting to see what people think of this.
Mr Penance, haha. I've never thought too hard about the story behind it since I think it doesn't exist and wasn't something that Square Enix really sat down and thought about at any great length, but I'll discuss my thoughts anyway. It's important to note that anything discussed about the Dark Aeons is just opinion because the game makes it clear that they have no important story context, since they don't appear in the North American version of the game. That being said all we know for sure is that they are tied to Yevon, because it is the Yevonites that summon them and they start appearing after we are branded as traitor. Now what we know of Yu Yevon is that he is stuck in a never-ending spiral of summoning Dream Zanarkand, but if we use our imagination we could assume that once YY sees Yuna and her guardians as a real threat, he uses the fayth in the temples to create "Dark" versions of the same aeons, since the fayth in the temples are the same ones that were alive in the REAL Zanarkand (e.g. Bahamut), and I assume that Yu Yevon must have some form of control over them. He creates these ultra powerful Dark Aeons and bestows some followers of Yevon the ability to summon them in order to stop Yuna and her guardians. Penance may possibly be a machina that the people of Bevelle built or a summon that was created by Yu Yevon himself (remember the Bahamut fayth says "as a summoner he was peerless", what was he summoning before sin existed?). Once the Dark Aeons were defeated he perhaps let Penance loose as a final way of stopping us. If you remember our own aeons look like the Dark Aeons when they are possessed by Yu Yevon, so this is probably a clue that Yu Yevon is behind the Dark Aeons. As for their strength, it's probably a combination of the fact that Yevon is summoning them, and also a game design choice in order to give players a real challenge, what would have been nice to see is a "Sin Mark 2" which has amazingly high stats if you beat the Dark Aeons first before completing the story. If you're asking "why didn't they use them to defeat sin?", well if Yu Yevon is the one behind it in the first place, I'm sure he created the Dark Aeons as a means of protecting himself and the religion formed around him, and wouldn't allow the Dark Aeons to attack/hurt Sin in any way. Then again this could all be bullshit, we'll never know.
Would I be able to beat this with ribbon armour auto haste auto protect and auto Phoenix on all chars with auto life is it possible to burn it down and keep auto life up
After 30min fighting Penance I forgot to Dispel Tidus.
XD
This is pretty much exactly how I lost my first attempt. Forgot to dispel, arm revived, and everything fell apart so quickly it was sad.
Happens to the best of us. That was my first attempt in a nutshell
"That was my story"
I deeply appreciate how you referenced Auron there😉
We listened to your story
That's great to hear, congrats on defeating Penance!
Man I love how the track for the penance fight incorporates the Hymn with that epic organ playing.
The craziest thing to me is that I've been a fan of FFX since it came out, and I never knew that Penance existed until you kept mentioning it in this playthrough. This is literally the first time I've heard of/seen this part of the game.
I got the plat on ps3 which didnt involve this guy? I'm so confused.
@@FewNewReasonss The dark aeons and penance was not part of the original FFX NA release.
@@ninponighthawk Aka the original PS2 version. The PS3 version was the international version was it not? Which included him. Or should've.
I found out he existed yesterday

I've been playing this game for about 12 years and never been able to 100% it but I'm nearly there now. Just dark bahamut, magus sisters and penance left now. It's all thanks to this walkthrough. So sincerely, thanks Burk
“This will be my final FFX boss battle uploaded.”
Aged well ;)
Penance hates Rikku because she's Al bhed.
This got me thinking... Imagine if Penance was Maester Mika's true "fiend" form?
@@The_One_In_Black ooohhhh it would be cool if its maester mika
I have tried with this strategy and failed a few times. He hits her most of the time. The lack of OD for Tidus and Wakka put me behind on the arms.

Yep he is
1:05:23 Is where you can view the Judgement move Penance uses.
thanks bro just beat penance with this strategy..165 hours logged in ffx i got every tropy except the sphere grids max out trophys...but theres no need to i beat everything...now on to ff x-2
Just beat Penance and currently finishing all the sphere grids. Thank you so much for the guidance to 100% the game!
My battle with penance took more than 30 mins. After those endless immolation i never expected lulu’s toy to deliver the finishing blow! I’ve never been more proud
how badass would it be if you Kimahri could learn Judgement Day....oh to dream...
shadow8767 i will decide to keep the sanctity of this comment by not liking it as it is currently at 69
Nice pun
49:15 When you're losing it and start picking on the boss lmao. Quality content
The weird thing is I want to go and replay the story again now…
i didn't start watching till around part 80 when the game was at the end, but your post game videos were a huge help for me. thanks for the videos =)
Ah man, thank you for this. I've been listening to these for the last few weeks and I feel like I've absorbed do much information.
Thanks to you I managed to defeat Penance. I can't find a way to say how much I appreciate your dedication and all the effort you put in making these awesome videos. Keep up like this and, again, thanks a lot.
From one of your italian fans.
You have no idea how much you have helped with my playthrough. Thank you so much for your hard work and input on this great game 👍
Shame it's almost over. It was a pleasure watching you, especially the last few parts :D
These were the good old days of TH-cam... I think I shed a tear...
Thanks for the in-depth playtrough!
i can not thank you enough for this walkthrough. so good and detailed. simply brilliant, you deserve all praise you get and more!!
thanks to you i am going to try penance without defeating the arms (i know others did this before)! the only challenge i really consider doing.. almost done with preperations.. oO
Love how this shows up on my feed as I'm just starting out the game myself lol
Been following since the first episode with you and I just defeated penance on the third try let’s goo thanks for the commentary and help !
2021 and I finally entirely finish FFX and this beast thank you so much for your good content about final fantasy
I love this series, still watching it in 2019
I've got you beat dude, it's 2020
@@Alulucard hi both, I just got plat trophy thanks to this dude :)
Dude, i played this game in my childhood, but never got to even max stat my characters, but now, and thanks to your guide, i have 100% the game, defeating penance was tough, but very satisfying, thank you very much
Hey Dansg08! I beat Penance today and wanted to say thank you for all the help your videos gave me!! So if you ever read this, thanks a 12 million!!
You will use quick hit on the arms the moment they pop up and only dispel while no arm is present
So you will need around 20 to 30 potions/rounds to win.
Its also a safe strat that can only fail if you do something wrong.
In the end this "super"boss isn't that super if you do enough preps. ;P
And now I need to finish the Spheregrid for everyone best trophy ever! :/
Thank you for your videos covering Final Fantasy X, they have helped me so much! Thank you so much! ^_^
I just had cackletta's soul theme playing in my head while this battle occurred! Epic as duck dude
You should give FFXII a shot some time too. It's one of the grander FF experiences I've had. The scale of the game truly is something to behold.
Relative to the scale of time I have to play games outside of what I'm recording, it's too big of an undertaking. I actually brought a PS2 version for my backwards compatible PS3 last year but had issues with frame rates/interlacing, and I never got round to setting up an emulated version on my PC. If they release a HD remaster I will probably look into it and play it at some point in the distant future :)
ayy guess what
+dansg08 Recent news they will remaster it, so i hope you have the time to record it :D
I’ve just beaten this bad boy! I used a different tactic. But I definitely got the inspiration from you! Thanks a lot!
I loved the ffx remaster commentary, I am gonna miss it so much.
Thank you man, couldn't have done it without you!
January 2021 and I am watching this series again while playing the remake this time
Will have to book an appointment for this boss! Great job and thank you so much... :)
I attempted Yiazmat in FFXII: The Zodiac Age... got my ass handed to me - though I swear I lasted a good while
I managed to beat Ozma with the insane difficulty mod. As you said, it's a luck game. Basically you have to burst the thing down as fast as you can and pray it doesn't either curse or meteor your whole party lol
Eiko is essential too
Yiazmat has AFK autokill exploits though.
Decoy/reflect and berserk other 2 damage dealers with high combo chance weps and walk away
Long time fan of ffx. Just finished Penance and figured I'd see how he was supposed to go down lol. It took so damn long but glad to have conquered
It’s that you wait to kill an arm until right before that arm gets a turn, not Penance. That will delay the arm’s revival.
I find it funny that one of Penance's attack while he still has the arms is to literally bitch slap you.
Just tried a handful of attempts. Never really used Rikku before now. Holy cow, do you need her in this fight!
I always thought Penance was a Final Aeon from a summoner who failed to kill Sin. Since Sin wasn't destroyed, Yu Yevon never ate it. What do you guys think?
This is sad that the journeys almost over :(
Yes that is right man this is bad
We're all feeling it man.
Hi from the future, your still making FFX videos :D
I have a vague memory of Penance from my years of obsession with FFX... it killed me instantly and I said fuck that
Thanks a lot for the whole series.hope see you soon on FFX-2. :D
Are the arm's HP pool taking from the body or are they self contained and they will just regenerate no matter what?
Would it be a bad idea to also use the Hot Spurs mix for that extra 1.5x Overdrive rate? That way when he moves to Immolation the Overdrive Gauges will get maxed every time instead of falling just barely short from time to time.
Apparently it can stack with Eccentrick.
Your reaction to when immolation killed Tidus made me laugh lol
I like how you get XP for killing the strongest thing in the game like you weren't max lvl or that you're gonna keep playing and fight more :P
Eventhough i was furious the attack was cool.
what is the lore behind Penance?
He comes from the scar in the calm lands where Gandof the summoner beats Sin. maybe the events are connected.
pretty sure penance is gandofs final aeon that still exists because pyreflies or something
i came up with a theory for it the other day. but i think you're on the right track.
Kain Motthasmews penance is not the original name. In basically every version but the English one he is called the judge.
This battle would be 10 times harder with active time battle mode.
Is that an option for FFX?
After fighting this guy for about 30 mins, somehow I messed up one turn and the second arm appeared right before his turn and he got me with judgement day (luckily I had auto life)...I tried in vain to catch back up with all my defensive buffs, but it was too much to catch up on and he finally finished me off. :/
make that twice O_o
Did you use expert sphere grid for this playthrough? I know this is old af and you'll likley never see this but if anyone does and you know I appreciate the answer. I assume you did but I'm hoping I can just fix mine because I REALLY don't want to get the CW again lol that's the only thing that keeps me from making multiple playthroughs of this game. The damn race and bb matches
I just beat the dark aeons and penance using Rikku, Auron and Yuna.
All characters 255: strength, magic, defense, magic def and agility:. ~130 luck
Dark magus sisters were the hardest aeons.
4:50 LMFAO!! xD
I was in the calm lands catching monsters for the arena, and for some reason the trophy for beating penance unlocked, I've never even unlocked Nemesis on the ps3 or ps4 version
I just checked out this vid just to see what I'll be spending my christmas vacation trying to achieve....fuck....
Bellystraw you can do it within 10 hours with ap trick
Is there a trick to using Wakka's Hit Reel and Tidus's Blitz Ace. You make it look so easy. I am having trouble hitting them.
Thanks to you I just pulled it off! Great vids!
Slice & Dice > Blitz Ace in my opinion. Blitz Ace last hit its pretty hard to hit, and damage difference is pretty minor, also S&D don't pull u that much down in ATB que
I'm multiples years late to this but can you defeat penance without tidus' ultimate weapon? It's the only one I'm struggling to get 😂
You are a god at this game.
When Penance dropped below 9mil HP, he automatically had haste effect on (using PC version). It didn't seem like Penance had haste on himself in this video. Why?
Zinic he only gets haste for one turn.
Then again this could all be bullshit, we'll never know.
dansg08 holy shit you just blew my mind with that theory 😱
great video's man. i might cry when this series is over lol :(
Would I be able to beat this with ribbon armour auto haste auto protect and auto Phoenix on all chars with auto life is it possible to burn it down and keep auto life up
