Just in case no one else has mentioned this yet: The discrepancy between the "Stoic" character and the "Comrade" characters can be counteracted if you REALLY want to and if you have Rikku in your party. If Rikku mixes "Eccentrick" then yes, the one taking the damage will lose that bonus but the other two will get even more AP, meaning that they will make just as much as the "Stoic" one.
Nvm One Eye drops 2 dark matters and it only takes a few battles for him to drop them for me so with a full sphere grid you could kill this guy in one hit and probably rack up 99 in a few hours in stead of fighting dark yoji
Not worth it. Killing Dark Yojimbo is ultra fast once you are strong enough. And since you get 4 fights with him each time, it takes a lot less time to get all the ribbon gear you'll need from him instead.
I once maxed out the expert sphere grid for every character and it took me like 90 hours in the PS2, clearing all nodes and making it pleasing to the eyes with 255 stats, 999MP and the rest for HP. 35~40 hours for speedrunning from start to finish for the story only. I've speedrun it because my memory card went missing and never saw it again and I have to redo it all over again.
Just a tip but you can set 2 people to stoic overdrive mode and just have the one with comrade a auto Phoenix and you can double you reward. Everyone at 99. The one from comrade will be getting ap off 2 deaths and the 2 at stoic will be able to rack in big just from the karma attack.

Does Rikku's Eccentrick/Hot Spurs stack with the AP boosting abilities for this trick? Even if you'd only be able to do it once since the gauge doesn't charge...
Yes, but I consider it a waste of an overdrive/items because all you need to do is spend another 30 seconds letting DT attack another couple of times, it's not going to save you that much time under the same circumstances as me. I guess if you have a double OD weapon instead of triple and are finding that you only get 30-40 S.Levels every time then obviously it could be a nice boost.
I'm so glad I kept watching this, before I started trying to grind AP in the Omega Ruins... I guess I'm going to try finishing the monster capturing quest for sure now! I really need to get the Vita version, because it feels like a waste of power for me to have my PS3 and TV on to do this.

Yeah there's a few enemies that drop good AP farm weapons, and even weapons that have 4 slots with either Triple AP, Triple Overdrice, Overdrive > AP, or a combo of the 3 that can be turned into better weapons for AP farming than the ones you get from One Eye. One Eye is just the easiest way to get everyone a weapon that can be made into AP farming weapons while your characters are just starting their grind and are still at a relatively lower stat level.
Someone suggested comrade for everyone and attacking with everyone, nope. You want to attack with the person who has killed the most enemies because tonberries karma damage is based off of total enemies killed by the attacking character and your ap gain is based off damage inflicted by the karma attack.
Im using the expert sphere grid and I have 255 in Str, Def, Mag Def, Agi, Eva and Acc and there are still plenty of empty nodes left, havent cleared a single one.
I just started my stat maxing today, in like 3 hours I had 255 of every stat but luck and magic. Working on luck now and forget magic... jumbo flan is annoying.
I know this video is years and years old but I’ve always wondered why everyone (not just this video but every video or guide I’ve seen) only uses 1 character to attack Since I have 3 auto-Phoenix Armors I set everyone to Comrade and attack with all 3 - I often end up with close to 99 for everyone but maybe I’m missing something
Very good point. The only advantage of the 1 character in stoic method is that the other 2 characters don't need high kills. And all 3 receive AP with each karma. The faster the character is, the more karmas you get hit by before Tonberry walks all the way to the front row. But the karma killing you negates quick hit and he's immune to slow. The advantage of your method is that you get way more karmas in before he gets to the front row, with nobody skipping a turn, even if some of the characters might be getting hit for less damage if they have less kills. However, characters getting hit won't receive any AP for their death, but I imagine that the vastly higher numbers of karmas will result in more AP earned. Certainly, if you're down to just 2 characters that need maxing, may as well put them both in comrade and just get all 3 characters to attack. Thanks for the tip. Edit: Not worth doing if you have 2 characters with low kills. In this case just have the character with high kills attack. The battle also takes much longer and a lot more phoenix down animations etc. Likewise if you're left with 1 character to boost but they have low kills, have 2 characters with high kills do the attacking and the character to be boosted just standing there in comrade.
I prefer to fight Cactaur King from area conquest. I set everyone's overdrive to stoic, I cast haste on him and made sure 2 characters in my party had auto-phoenix. Cactaur King uses 99,999 or 10,000 needles on everyone. I usually get close to 80 sphere levels per fight for each character and it's a quicker battle than the tonberry one.
My absolutely favorite memory was playing the hd remaster and getting the kill penance trophy by accident. To clarify i was farming monsters in the calm lands and used valefor’s AOE overdrive and nuked one of the spawns that had wasps and i kid you not i popped the achievement for killing penance. Never laughed so hard. Apparently on penance free time he is a wasp in the calm lands. I was playing the ps4 version and it took a pic of the moment i got the achievement so as long as i have my psn account i have a pick of popping it while killing trash enemies in the calm lands. Never had a bug that literally gave me an end game trophy.
Hey Merry Christmas B! I wasn't sure where I ought've asked you this, so I hope that here at this video is appropriate. I was thinking...When you utilized the Don Tonberry Karma technique to farm AP, its genius lay in its simplicity and ease. Still, what if I allowed Auron, Tidus, or Wakka to just continue to annihilate enemies in order to get their respective kill count up, thereby increasing D. Tonberrys Karma attack power along with the resultant yield in AP? I could remain in a place like Besaid or Kilika (or someplace else where they can be taken down in good numbers in quick succession -- maybe with a death/stone -strike weapon) and easily raise that stat very fast. I figure that since the damage algorithm for DTon is at least partially based on the amount of enemies killed, then a higher number would create more damage, thus raising gained AP. What do you think? Thanks, keep up the good work, we see you lolol
My problem with FFX is how grindy and repetitive it becomes. That's always been the thing that stopped me coming back to the game until recently. The gameplay actually gets worse as the storyline progresses, but is much more fun when you get to Omega Ruins.
For those of you who are wondering, it is possible to max everything into these stats for standard sphere grid: 99,999 HP 999 MP 255 Strength 255 Defense 255 Magic 255 Magic Defense 250 Agility 255 Luck 60+ Evasion 0 Accuracy The downside is that you would have to clear every single node on the sphere grid and redesign everything to maximum stats node yourself. This mean that anything that is not +300 HP, + 40 MP, or +4 on any other stats, you clear that node and replace it with the highest node yourself. But the amount of farming for that is insane for all 7 characters. You probably have to grind for 150 hours+. I know this because I have capped out my main 3 characters, which is Tidus, Wakka, and Rikku, but it takes forever just to maxing one character. I wouldn't recommend it unless you are aiming for the achievement "Sphere Master" and want to max everything.
^ this. A lot of people don't realize you can AND should go back to the "+1 str" and replace it with a "+4 str" as an example. You can do this for all stats :D pain in the ass but well worth it.
Im working on maxing currently but not even close. Are you able to clear already used nodes such as you already activated a +1 can you clear it and replace?
@@WolfNAtiveHybrid Yes you can clear already activated nodes. And all characters that have activated that node will lose the stat so you will have to come back with that character to reactivate the node.
If you want just want the sphere master trophy you should definitely just make a separate save before you start stat maxing or replacing any of the non-max stat nodes. Then just farm mp spheres from Vidatur since he can be 1 shot. So between a quick and easy 2 spheres per battle on top of using the kottos method for magic spheres and don tonberry for AP it shouldnt take you nearly as long to get the trophy. Then if you still feel like maxing your stats either go back to your previous save and follow the stat maxing method or just replace all the MP nodes you don't need and the non-max stat nodes and replace them. When i do my stat maxing i prefer having each of the stat nodes in their own area of the grid but that's just because i like my grid to look clean, it's not something that makes any actual difference lol.
Hey i was fighting One Eye for AP gear and I didn't fully see the number but I'm pretty sure he dropped 7 dark matters cuz that how many i have in my inventory and i put ribbon on riku so i shouldn't have had any left afterwards but i know he dropped dark matter i just didn't see how many is this a rare drop ? I've fought him probably 10 times,
I see the ultimate farming weapon trick here for ap which is awesome. Can you get this weapon for all 7 characters so everyone can do sphere grid quick? Also why is someone saying one eye wont drop the correct weapon?
Just looked through my original PS2 save file and I have 255 all stats on everyone but Kimahri, Clearly I had a lot of time on my hands but I guess I didn't like Kimahri much back then or maybe I never got around to maxing his stats since I do have Spirit Lance powered up with both crest and sigil, even though over the multiple playthroughs I've done since then I've only ever used Kimahri to get steal before getting Rikku.
I find the cactuar king faster and easier. Same method but everyone has the same overdrive stats and you just defend and use Phoenix downs over and over again. 99999 needles is done pretty often and you can get AP for every party member. Also, although he does run away, most do the time he gets 15-30 turns in before he does, so all you do is triangle over and over again unless you need a Phoenix down until he runs away. Less menus to start fights and you can consistently get 99999 damage without having to defeat a bunch of weak enemy’s first
Having auto haste on the auto phoenix character helps too since they use the item faster. Its not a huge difference compared to a non hasted auto phoenix but adds up enough to save a good chunk of time by the time you finish the grind.
I have been watching your ffx walkthrough and it really helped me a lot. I have obtained all the celestial weapons except wakka's, and am in the process of finishing the monster capture side quest. However i really sucked at playing Blitzball and will probably never get Wakka's weapon and overdrives........ Is there an alternative team i can form to take on monster arena and dark aeons? I dont mind leveling up or farm for items..... Thank you~
+lianwuhen everyone else can also do the job, the only loss is the damage done from the overdrive and the fact that having a nice overdrive like that WHICH DOESN'T MISS is very useful. If you use someone other than Wakka you may struggle a bit more at lower levels especially against dark aeons that are hard to hit. But it's perfectly fine to take them on with any combination of characters.
+dansg08 thank you for the reply! :D Would auron tidus rikku be a good team together? I did get auron's tornado by walking all the way back and i have tidus's blitz ace also. I know their overdrives are not as powerful as wakka's, but any overdrive are 100% accurate no?
I know you asked this months ago but eh. Just FYI Blitzball is really really really easy if you get nimrook as your goalie. Once you win your first two games it's all down hill from there. I hated Blitzball too and got smacked around during the Luca goers first game in the story but that match is insanely hard compared to regular playing. So I would say definitely don't give up man. Get that celestial weapon. Wakka and Rikku are just too sick for end game to pass up on.
+lianwuhen make sure you have Jecht shot, once you score once just play keep away. You'll notice there's a "happy zone" where they won't chase you. Also, I won't play blitz until I have access of the air ship. That way you can get any player you want before you play a single game as long as they aren't a default player on a team.
I use to play ffx when I was like 12 or something but I didn't understand the stat stuff I just assumed it was like most level up games. The higher level you are the better but I guess not. Guess I'll be more prepared for the remastered version on switch
Hey, I was wondering if you can help me. So I stat maxed everyone except Yuna but the ap trick doesn’t work as much for her, I have triple over drive, triple ap and overdrive > ap and she’s on stoic but when I finish the battle I get no way near the 2m mark. Didn’t really work for the other either but they were still way better then Yuna
Not sure if you're still having the same problem but if you are the problem is Yuna doesn't really kill any enemies cause of how weak she is, I suggest increasing her strength a bit and getting her to kill enemies in Besaid or Kilika etc.
Okay, does someone wanna tell me how Shinyru petrified my Rikku when she had Ribbon on her equipped armor? Does the attack 'Eraser' negate Ribbon or something?
KH-mixerX You probably missed the episode where I fought Shinryu, I'm pretty sure I mentioned that Eraser has a 255% chance of petrification, which basically means it CANNOT be stopped. So much like Marius has said, it works like an eject attack.
I find the cactar king is faster, no having to flee, all characters can do it at once, and when he does the 100000 needles it's faster, especially for characters that haven't killed many enemies
So technically Aeons are the only ones who can truly max out all of the stats Funny how HP increases to 300 instead of 400 when the rest give 4 (or 40 for MP)
Ugh this grind. I've got to say at the end game this is where the sphere grid falls off. It was more fun in 7 morphing for sources in sunken gelnika and mastering materia by throwing elixirs at magic pots. In 8 it was more fun (so much so that I've done this twice, once in 2009 and again in 2021) staying low level all game, taking advantage of using Seifer in the dollet mission to level him up a ton - to draw firaga etc for use with junctioning in your main team after. Then end game using rosetta stones and equipping Str Up, Def Up, Mag Up, Spr Up, for levelling. Here in 10 though where the level system is directly tied to the stat building system, it becomes a seemingly eternal sphere grid grind. Even with tonberry and kottas, just going around the grid enabling each node bit by bit takes such a long time. By the way, thanks for the guide. It has been extremely useful.
I've watched your final fantasy videos from part 1 and never commented but I have to this this time; when the game introduces you to the sphere grid, you can choose standard or advanced - what's the difference? And why didn't you choose the other one? Great vids, I need more lol.
I already answered it in the comments of the 1st video. For stat maxing (if you are not breaking the HP limit) then the expert grid is easier because it has LESS NODES. So when you are going for that sphere grid master trophy it will be easier because you have less nodes to fill. Outside of stat maxing the expert sphere grid gives you more freedom about which path to take with your characters, and it isn't as rigid as the standard grid.
Ahh kk. Thank you :) I didn't start watching the series until you were already at omnis so I've forgotten a few things in my hurry to catch up, sorry about that, but thank you for telling me again :)
A better method for stat maxing is dark ixion as you can run away from him. Its first form will always counter your attack and its OD only targets 1 player. So assuming you're early at star maxing, ixion will always deal 99999 damage, as opposed to don tomberry which is based on how many monsters you've beaten.
First off these vids have been perfect to help me do all the side-questing that I struggled with on the original PS2 release, so Thank You! And second I've fought one-eye way to many times (Well over an hour one time) and still have not gotten the correct armor for Tidus. I've tried having him in the line-up, on the bench & finishing him. Still can't seem to get it. Just unlucky? or What do you suggest?
The overdrive modes are obtained throughout playthrough, it just depends on how often certain things happen in battles, which is why in the middle of a battle, you'll get the alert telling you you gained a new Overdrive mode. If you don't have comrade for your team, it means that you aren't taking enough damage/getting KO'd by enemies. As counter-intuitive as it sounds, try fighting enemies that hit single team members really hard/KO them in one hit. I believe if this happens enough, your party members will gain that mode.
by the time tidus, wakka and rikku are done with stat maxing anyone can one mil gil zanmato all dark aeons+penance xD btw. zanmato lit. means Demon-cutting Sword. so yojimbo is a demon slayer.
99,999hp is doable if you use a stamina tablet or stamina tonic during battle. Equip armour that uses Break HP Limit, HP+30%, HP+20%, HP+10%. This would reduce the number of nodes needed allowing room for other stats.
I love FFX but was never a fan of the post game stuff. I get the point is to be hard, but it is way too meta. No way someone who doesn't know what they are doing could figure this all out.
+stephen collins forgot what nsg was for a second lol. there are spheres that clear any spheres except abilities. once you clear the stat ones you can use the other stat spheres to begin maxing your ststs out.
@Aldo Ch Especially for penance max stats are not neccessary at all. You don't need any magic defense, magic, evasion, or accuracy (provided you have very high luck stats). You don't even need any MP and not more than 9999 HP. The only attacks that should ever hit you during that battle are obliteration and immolation. Both physical. Getting through the Dark Aeons with those stats is another story though...
I still come back every couple years and appreciate how informative and entertaining this series is.

Thanks, keep up the good work, we see you lolol
stated many times but use comrade if you haven’t done much killing, stoic if you have.
My problem with FFX is how grindy and repetitive it becomes. That's always been the thing that stopped me coming back to the game until recently. The gameplay actually gets worse as the storyline progresses, but is much more fun when you get to Omega Ruins.
All jrpgs are grindy ffx is no different. I think it's the way you have to go about it that's, different
That’s what I love about it lol
This guy went though 114 videos worth of gameplay without grinding at all.
For those of you who are wondering, it is possible to max everything into these stats for standard sphere grid:
99,999 HP
999 MP
255 Strength
255 Defense
255 Magic
255 Magic Defense
250 Agility
255 Luck
60+ Evasion
0 Accuracy
The downside is that you would have to clear every single node on the sphere grid and redesign everything to maximum stats node yourself.
Back in 2020
Hey i was fighting One Eye for AP gear and I didn't fully see the number but I'm pretty sure he dropped 7 dark matters cuz that how many i have in my inventory and i put ribbon on riku so i shouldn't have had any left afterwards but i know he dropped dark matter i just didn't see how many is this a rare drop ? I've fought him probably 10 times,
Ye i was doing this on ps2 back in the days ,but later as you are getting stronger is not so bad
I see the ultimate farming weapon trick here for ap which is awesome. Can you get this weapon for all 7 characters so everyone can do sphere grid quick? Also why is someone saying one eye wont drop the correct weapon?
HEY!! I'm one of those crazy people. That's how much I love this game.
I thought it was easier having everyone on comrade and just attack with everyone?
My jaw just dropped seeing that 1mil+ AP!
All I can say is thank God for the Get All Items option in the PC version. I don't have time to do this the regular way LOL
Have you ever considered doing a Walkthrough of Final Fantasy Tactics?
Now that he finished ff7, I think tactics is somewhere close
I find the cactuar king faster and easier. Same method but everyone has the same overdrive stats and you just defend and use Phoenix downs over and over again. 99999 needles is done pretty often and you can get AP for every party member. Also, although he does run away, most do the time he gets 15-30 turns in before he does, so all you do is triangle over and over again unless you need a Phoenix down until he runs away. Less menus to start fights and you can consistently get 99999 damage without having to defeat a bunch of weak enemy’s first
Auto haste for the attacking character and auto Phoenix on one of the other charters is ideal.
Having auto haste on the auto phoenix character helps too since they use the item faster. Its not a huge difference compared to a non hasted auto phoenix but adds up enough to save a good chunk of time by the time you finish the grind.
Well if your goal is just defeating DA and superbosses why not just pay Yojimbo to do the job? 🤔
I had really high stats on the ps2 but i doubt the memory card still has it lol along time ago
That way you can get any player you want before you play a single game as long as they aren't a default player on a team.
i never got into blitz too.but yesterday i played for about 4 hours, since that i won every game lol.
Why did you choose Rikku over Auron to power up? Auron is your favorite character.
Rikku is more useful in battle.
Okay, does someone wanna tell me how Shinyru petrified my Rikku when she had Ribbon on her equipped armor? Does the attack 'Eraser' negate Ribbon or something?
KH-mixerX I think that attack is sorta confusing. I don't think its actually a petrification attack, but rather an "eject" attack.
KH-mixerX You probably missed the episode where I fought Shinryu, I'm pretty sure I mentioned that Eraser has a 255% chance of petrification, which basically means it CANNOT be stopped. So much like Marius has said, it works like an eject attack.
dansg08 No I saw it. It's just been so long since I've seen it that I forgot lol.
Oh my fucking god what am I doing trying to Max stats
I find the cactar king is faster, no having to flee, all characters can do it at once, and when he does the 100000 needles it's faster, especially for characters that haven't killed many enemies
So technically Aeons are the only ones who can truly max out all of the stats
Funny how HP increases to 300 instead of 400 when the rest give 4 (or 40 for MP)
It has been extremely useful.
tonberry and kottos are your best friends
Ahh kk. Thank you :) I didn't start watching the series until you were already at omnis so I've forgotten a few things in my hurry to catch up, sorry about that, but thank you for telling me again :)
dansg08 i ship Yuna and Tidus even tho im a Rikku fan boy :D, i would of liked to see you complete Yunas grid but oh well :(
Have u ever used the expert sphere grid
eric chapman Yes.
How long did it take u to max it out
eric chapman Never maxed it out, just used it for a normal playthrough and a challenge.
i found an item that can be use full to master theft add pickpocket to it can come in handy
A better method for stat maxing is dark ixion as you can run away from him.
Its first form will always counter your attack and its OD only targets 1 player. So assuming you're early at star maxing, ixion will always deal 99999 damage, as opposed to don tomberry which is based on how many monsters you've beaten.
great vid, love ffx
First off these vids have been perfect to help me do all the side-questing that I struggled with on the original PS2 release, so Thank You! And second I've fought one-eye way to many times (Well over an hour one time) and still have not gotten the correct armor for Tidus. I've tried having him in the line-up, on the bench & finishing him. Still can't seem to get it. Just unlucky? or What do you suggest?
Geoffrey Grice it’s pure luck
Looks at luck after 120 hours playtime. Highest? Rikku with 28.
So this is why I can't kill Dark Bahamut
You're right i'm gonna have a dream about nines
1:12 yeah which is ridiculous, i wish they gave enough nods to max out everything & luck shouldnt even be in this game imo
I'm 6 years late but maxing out the sphere grid is significantly easier on the expert grid
how do i get comerade overdrive
The overdrive modes are obtained throughout playthrough, it just depends on how often certain things happen in battles, which is why in the middle of a battle, you'll get the alert telling you you gained a new Overdrive mode. If you don't have comrade for your team, it means that you aren't taking enough damage/getting KO'd by enemies. As counter-intuitive as it sounds, try fighting enemies that hit single team members really hard/KO them in one hit. I believe if this happens enough, your party members will gain that mode.
Great video.
by the time tidus, wakka and rikku are done with stat maxing anyone can one mil gil zanmato all dark aeons+penance xD
btw. zanmato lit. means Demon-cutting Sword. so yojimbo is a demon slayer.
Can lock spheres be bypassed with clear spheres?
No you need tge lvl key soheres to remive the locks
Dansg....no....Sir Dansg.... You are the reason I played this game. Can I shake your hand?
a great video except you have the music overpowering you, really can't hear you
If it's possible to get to 255 for all stats on the standard sphere grid. Is it possible to get 255 for all stats for the expert sphere grid?
You are the man!
MIND!!!!!! FUCKING!!!!!! BLOWN!!!!!!!!!
Damn my rikku got 60 lvls before getting all 3 triple ap weaponds
99,999hp is doable if you use a stamina tablet or stamina tonic during battle. Equip armour that uses Break HP Limit, HP+30%, HP+20%, HP+10%. This would reduce the number of nodes needed allowing room for other stats.
Matthew Brown not needed, auto haste is way more important than any hp increasing ability.
You can use clear spheres to make more room. Auto Phoenix, auto haste and auto protect are much more useful than massive hp
@@iLLBiLLsRoastBeats right
you can also stack double and triple overdrive ap and triple ap
Thanks Mate 👊
8:45 I am one of those crazy people!!!
Lol, why
I love FFX but was never a fan of the post game stuff. I get the point is to be hard, but it is way too meta. No way someone who doesn't know what they are doing could figure this all out.
to get max stats complete, do you need to do a NSG play through?
+stephen collins from guides and videos that I have seen, you can do it in one playthrough. It is just very time consuming though.
+stephen collins forgot what nsg was for a second lol. there are spheres that clear any spheres except abilities. once you clear the stat ones you can use the other stat spheres to begin maxing your ststs out.
+vgs717 okay thanks
ppl! i need to gain 75k damage from tonberry to get exp ...coz i dont get any exp he hit me 65k damage!
Kill more enemies. The more kills your charachters have, the more damage
One-Eye will not drop three slotted triple AP weapons! lol. He only drops two slotted ones. Freaking eye ball.
+Baka Ch took forever but got them all. All 7. Good thing though I got 56 dark matters and about 4 million Gil lol.
+Baka Ch ps4/vita.
Are you using the Standard or Expert Sphere Grid?
+LaekoStormz Standard.
there's very little chance of one-eye dropping a weapon with the three abilities essential for ap farming, don't waste time customizing them :p
Maxing is stupid, but nice video :)
once :)
+BeardsOfWarjard XL with hacks right
Yojimbo
@Aldo Ch Especially for penance max stats are not neccessary at all. You don't need any magic defense, magic, evasion, or accuracy (provided you have very high luck stats). You don't even need any MP and not more than 9999 HP. The only attacks that should ever hit you during that battle are obliteration and immolation. Both physical. Getting through the Dark Aeons with those stats is another story though...
W.T.F......
Idk what 8 idiots disliked this video. I'd love to see them make videos this in depth!
You can't do the right thing by some people.
