Good pedal I have found. For the type (all knobs, no presets) the only thing I would say against it is that the speaker sim can't be switched off though tone adjustment mostly (only mostly) compensates for that.
Not a bad pedal and good value for the money if you're looking for something inexpensive. It's more on the JCM side of dist but I found it to be slightly shrill in the highs. It's very tweekable with all of the knobs but I wasn't able to filter out the shrill highs and I also noticed that it lacks some of the clarity and articulation you get from better boutique dist pedals. But that's also why it's priced exactly where it should be at well below $100.
Where was this 10 years ago? Outstanding value!!
I have one of these and I love it. Works well when plugged in DI
Yeah for the money it works great!
@@JimijaymesProductions Using an Xvive mini DI with cab sim on, it might sound even better.
Nice demo Jimi.. I have this pedal and its quite decent sounding but if you havent tried the Joyo Oxford sound I suggest you go and give it a try.. Far more open sounding and you can get both Orange and Marshall tones from it.. Its got that more organic raw crunch that is more authentic.
I recently bought Joyo California Sound and it is simply amazing. Nothing can beat them on price and they sound really good. I own Mesa Lone Star 1x12 and this doesnt sound far compared to amp through SM57. Definitely Recommend!
Damn it does sound like A Marshall
Just before the sound turns into distortion, what do you do? Are there any other effects pedals? Sorry my English is not fluent so I don't understand even though I've watched this full video. Hope you explain here.
Do you mean the clean sound. In the first part of the video that is just straight into the amp. In the second part it's straight DI. At the end I use the fz2 as an eq and am using a St Rock to load cab emulation and power amp emulation so the joyo British is acting as a preamp Pedal.
I love mine so much I have two of them.
yeah. i liked mine so much i bought the Tech 21 original....discovered i liked the Joyo better....go figure
hi, can you tell me how does it sound , if used as an overdrive to push a dirt channel?
Sounds good my friend. Have a good day
What amp are you playing through, and how do you have it set up?
The first amp tone is my ceriatone bad cat hot cat 30 clone on the clean channel with the volume set starting to breakup on humbuckers and brilliance (presence control) on 3 o clock. I am using a load box with an ownhammer IR based on a 1971 Marshall 412 with 1971 g12m25s. Later on is the more direct sounds using my react ir loader and straight in.
@@JimijaymesProductions thanks! Sounded great! I have the Harley Benton version of this pedal, play it through the clean channel on my Line 6 Spider IV. I love how it sounds
I'm watching a ton of reviews for this pedal and yours is one of the best!
I wanted to ask, can you get that bright and aggressive sound like Slash does with his AFD?
I also have Alnico II pickups and I'm thinking to get this pedal not for recordings, just to have smth close to a JMC sound to help me write some riffs and add some "color" with the decent amp I have.
Absolutely. It's a clone of a Tech21 pedal. It can really replicate Slash's tone
@@CamiloPefauri bought it last Christmas and it's amazing!!!
is this far better than the Joyo American Sound?
Not far better, just different.
Like marshall isn't better than fender.
Just different.
not necessarily better, this emulates a marshall, while the american sound emulates a fender, it's just preference really.
I own an orange micro terror (which has only one channel) would it sound any good through it? I'm using a 1x12 cab. Pursuing that guns n roses kinda tone on a budget
It could but it may not have the headroom, I haven't played the micro terror but the tiny terror didn't get very clean or neutral, you may be better off with a Marshall style distortion rather than an amp emulator like the tomsline plexion, caline Englishman (more plexi style less slash), or cruncher (various crunchbox clones)
@@JimijaymesProductions Thank you so much! I'll keep looking 😁😁
I have boss power stack, which better? Before or after joyo?
I'd say before but tbh probably not two pedals I'd stack together. They both are doing mid gain British just the joyo has built in low pass to emulate a speaker.
@@JimijaymesProductions
Okay. So before the joyo pedal. Now which is better, the Tech21 Flyrig 5 before or after the Joyo Pedal? Sorry, I'm a Mid Marshall Amp character lover, so in Pedalboard I use 3 different pedals with almost the same character for different needs too. Thanks for your answers and suggestions.
I got one on order. Going to try it in front of Two Notes Torpedo Cab M+
Do a review. I would love to hear that
@@mickdebergerac1143 I recorded with the pedal. Leads Doesn't cut through a mix
Can you plug in a headphone and get sound with this? I mean using the pedal all by itself just like a practice amp?
its mono and guitar level so you'd need a headphone amp for that to work with headphones.
Do you like
I know these were designed to be used direct, but i was thinking about using it in front of a super clean neutral solid state amp. Will it work that way?
It will work that way, or if your amp had a aux in or loop return you could try that.
@@JimijaymesProductions Yeah i was thinking about that, but mine has no fx loop, so it's just going straight into input.
I use the Joyo American Sound straight into a Fender Champion Solid State, sounds great to me.
Nice video…!!!!
Can you use it as a pre-amp? Like for instance, plugging it to the return jack of a fender amp and hope to get a decent sounding british amp?
You could try but because it has embedded speak emulation it would probably be too dark, there are definately other pedals out there better for this like the mooer preamps and the amt stuff more expensive though.
@@JimijaymesProductions I didn't particularly care for the Mooer stuff, and the AMT may or may not be enjoyable. If you can pay a bit more for a Tech 21 British v2, you can turn off the cab sim.
Yes you can. The cab sim is very mild. I use the Joyo American Sound and AC Tone into the return of a BF voiced 210 18 watt amp. Sounds glorious!
yes...i use one like this on a Hod Rod III.....its excellent
Schemtic shr ?? Hehee
I had one in the past, and found it not good, I bought some tech 21 pedals and it can not be compared. Tech 21 are excellent (but more expensive).
It is a clone of a Tech 21 circuit.
@@HammyHavoc definitely not the same quality and results on the sound !
time stamps?
Oh, you're Brit...
