I have been drooling for the blues breaker for years but the old pedals had just gotten too expensive. I was so excited that I just bought the whole set from Andertons! I got all 4 for the half the price of what original blues breakers are going for here in the US! Love you guys! Andertons is becoming my go to shop for gear. Doesn't matter that you guys are across the pond from me. The Andertons crew feels like family. So when I buy from you I'm supporting friends. Thank you. :)

Back in 1991 I was doing demo clinics for Yamaha Australia who also distributed Marshall here, and for the release of the JCM900 series, we had Geoff Whitehorn join us for a national clinic tour. I was lucky enough to travel around with that gentleman and hear him play every night! He had so many great stories about working with Paul Rodgers and Bad Company and various others. Got my Squier Strat for Christmas in ‘93 and always felt that I lacked gain for the grunge tunes I wanted to play. The family went to from Norway to London and Denmark Street on holiday in ‘94 (my first time) and I got a DriveMaster, a used late 60s Colorsound Wah, a set of strings and a bottleneck slide (and some Sega Megadrive games). My Strat couldn’t deliver the gain I wanted with that pedal (nobody told me about single coils vs humbuckers) so when my father went on a business trip to London a few weeks later he changed it to the ShredMaster. On the comparison between the _ancien regime_ Bluesbreaker and the new re-issue: It sounds to me (on this computer through these headphones) that the older pedal is letting a hair more bass through, giving a slightly smoother character to the distortion. It's subtle but noticeable. That's how it sounds to me, anyway.

This is just parts tolerance, and confirmation bias. If you got two of the old ones, or two of the new ones, they'll sound slightly different due to parts tolerance in the components. But basically you're hearing what you think you want to hear

You can't judge two pedals in that way due to part tolerances. Film capacitors used for high pass or low pass filters usually have a + or - 10% tolerance while electrolytics can have 20% tolerances. And as Lee mentioned pots have tolerances as well. So two pedals from the same production run can have differences in tone, gain and volume.

@@iainmcguire7190 well I had no preconceived idea or need to hear something, and I heard the same thing, so I think you're wrong about the 'confirmation bias', which is a phrase usually thrown around by people who want to appear clever. @@MrDblStop It's a straightforward phrase, with a defined meaning. Sorry if you don't like vocabulary. You'll notice I said it's parts tolerance and confirmation bias. If you build the same schematic, with the same parts, in the same factory, by the same manufacturer, and they sound different, to your ears (cloth or otherwise), those are the two explanations. Hope this helps you and your grandad understand a fairly self explanatory previous comment.

@user-dc8vm2ik3d That's a complicated question bud, I will use the bluesbreaker as an example. They have been artificially inflated because of boomers, individuals who own companies like JHS for example could buy alot of original collectable pedals sit on them and sell their own verson. So an original issue between £300-750 depending on condition. The blues breaker 2, that was the llast reissue looked different so sells for like £70 used. It's honestly overpriced it's a transparent drive that needs a boost pedal to get the most out of or to replicate famous tones. Is it good? Yeah. Is it better than other cheaper drive pedals? No, not even nearly.

Most of the prices dropped to just a little ridiculous, instead of extremely ridiculous.
There still folks trying to get near $1,000, but most dropped to $500 or less, I think because they were reissuing them.
There are just so many better options of the Bluesbreaker circuit, for $200 or less, from many great builders.

The Shred Master!!! That's how it started for me. I plugged it straight into a Yamaha Keyboard amp that my mom bought for my accordion!!! Instant Shred! I had a Charvel single humbucker blue guitar with a Floyd Rose and that's how it started for me. Learning how to rock some Faith No More, Living Colour, Van Halen...all courtesy of my guitar teacher Peter Thorn!! History man!

This vid brings back memories. I had a Guvnor back in the days. It served me well for years and years, untill I replaced it with a Emma Reezafratzitz, which dynamically was a step forward. Still, the Guvnor was one of the best heavy overdrive pedals of that era.

Great sounding pedals. Listening on headphones and from what I can hear the older ones sound ever so slightly chewier and the newer ones have a tad more sparkle but in a room I’d say difference is minuscule. Blues Breaker and Guvnor sound really sweet 👌🏻😁

I was thinking of picking up the Guv’nor but they are $300 CDN here in Canada! To hell with that! I’ll stick with my RAT and GV-2 as there sound close enough if not as good! Even what I paid for both gently used, it’s still less than 1/2 the price of these reissues new.

Although I've been playing guitar, with several bands, for 53 years, I couldn't tell the difference! Some of my original amps have been rebuilt and repaired so many times I'm just going to replace them. I had been taking 3 with me, hoping at least 1 would survive the night!! LOL I also discovered I need a couple pedals now. A Boss Blues Driver is about all I have ever used! Oh, and a verb when that quit on an amp, and I added a Comp-90 because some new cables were not as good as the old ones. Imagine that, 71 and building my first pedal board!! LOL 8) --gary
