    Great tip for recording and live work. Connect guitar to your drive or eq pedals first (compressor volume wah overdrive fuzz distortion etc) then into the Joyo of your choice, after the Joyo go into your delay, modulation and reverb pedals.
    If any of the last pedals is stereo put that at the end of the chain then run a pair of cables to the PA or recording input for a monster stereo sound.
    I have had great results using a Mooer Red Truck multi effect using the send and return to insert the American sound between the drive effects and the mod/delay effects then stereo out to PA. If I use amps instead I just switch the Joyo off.

    One question that has not been addressed anywhere is how it sounds stacked in front of other pedals. While I know that is not what is is designed for it works just fine using it as a overdrive in the first position or pushing my GV2 over the top. I use three dirt pedals. EH Metal Muff for my new metal heavy D, Marshall GV2 for my meat and potatoes modified Marshall sound and the Joyo British for my overdrive sound. I do use a MXR Smartgate to remove hiss after these, and it does help quite a bit. I play in a rock dance covers band on the weekends and the British gives me that Stones, SRV and CCR sound better than any pedal I have ever owned. I run it into a clean all tube Kustom Defender. I'm going to pick up a second just to have as a backup. At the cheap price why not? Rock on :)

    Great comparison. I recently bought the American Sound to beef up the clean tone of my Boss Katana 50. That amp seems very neutral, almost sterile, on clean settings. The Joyo American gives the Katana more character and richness of tone. Now, I'm struggling whether to buy the British or ACtone next. I like bluesy, clean to light/moderate dirty tones.

    • @diecinuevemx
      @diecinuevemx 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@luisangelEXALTA the radar is an IR loader/speaker simulator, it gives the feel of a real amp and it's perfect for going DI. The speaker simulation is something the AC and the american lacks of and when you pair it with the radar it really makes a diference. Think of it like both the ac and the american are going to be your "amp heads" (or preamps) and the radar is gonna be your cabinets. Also a good thing about the radar, is that its got a power amp section where you can choose from different tubes types, that also changes the tone/sound, so with the radar you get a ton of combinations to get yourself the tone you like.

    Great demo. Bring a fender fan i bought the American to warm up a sterile digital effects unit. I was so impressed i bought the acetone. And a free years later the british. I was never planning to buy all three,i don't want to much gear, especially as my amp simulator is pretty good. But having these in pedal format with EQ knobs is so much easier than twiddling the multi effects unit. I like them all! The fender one the best. I tried the California, it was the only one i didn't take to. They do get noisey at high gain settings though,but back then of a tad and they're fine. Actually it's been an education, Led Zep tones are not everything cranked and lower gain than I expected.

    I have distortion pedals such as OCD, Box of Rocks, Plumes etc, my question is, can I still utilize the Joyo American for better tone. I'm also running into a Fender Champion 100 clean setting amp, and a Traynor Custom Special 90.

    Hi.Great videos.I watch your videos allthe time.Now I want to ask you where would you place a reverb peadal,before the ac tone or after? I have my pedal board already setup for going in to a amp so reverb is the last one but can I add the ac tone after reverb and go straight in to a interface? I wouldn't like to do changes on the pedal board .Thanks.

    Good demo Shane. Thanks for comparing these but to me they all sound so similar i wouldn't be surprised if you could get near the exact tone of one of the pedals with any of them at non extreme settings using the powerful eq and voice controls. I own a marshall 2203 and vox AC15 TBR ( greenback ) and whilst they do have some of the character of those amps, they don't strike me as that similar. The fender one on the other hand has that fender vibe so i bought that one ( i own a boogie and not a fender so have no comparison there ) but your deluxe A/B was pretty convincing.

    Hi Shane,
    So you use the fender reverb pedal AFTER the joyo sim pedal is that right? I thought that the Sim pedal always had to be last in the chain if you are going straight into a PA. Is that wrong? Thanks

    • @PieIX
      @PieIX 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes that's wrong. reverb and time delay effects are always run last and generally thru an effects loop if you have.

    Not sure if it was revealed, what amp are you playing this thru directly ? In a lot of these videos the amp simulator pedal is demo'ed thru a Fender, Marshall or a Vox and then it's a matter of why would you do that even, you already have the Fender/Marshall/Vox tone. I wanna see how close the pedal actually makes a sub $ 100 solid state practice amp to one of these tube/tube-solid state hybrid amps ?

  • @stsgabe
    @stsgabe 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    how can these be used by bypassing the pre amp on a regular amplifier, like my blues jr. I take it just plugging this into the input of the amp is basically plugging an amp into an amp..so are these (have have the AC and just got the British) meant to be used just like pedals, or is that undermining their full ability? It would be great to have an amp that could be "turned into" each of one of these with out coloring it

    • @TooSlowTube
      @TooSlowTube 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you have an effects loop, you can plug one of these into Return, to bypass the amp's own preamp.

    These are fantastic in front of a Roland Jazz Chorus amp if anyone is interested. (I use a JC-40).

    • @joebobhenrybob2000
      @joebobhenrybob2000 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rapt In Blue yeah idunno why Roland Jazz Chorus isn't King Of Amps right now. What with your Kempers, Headrush, Helix, and a gagillion other analog and digital amp emulating devices... the whoke point of the Roland is you dial your sound in, and then you can turn the jc up to any level, positively deafening levels, and keep the SAME SOUND crystal clear. It was funny watching an interview of the guy from Helmet talking about how he worked with Fryette on making sure his dense chords didnt turn to mush... all that effort to get what a jc120 would have given him immediately!

    • @intheblues
      @intheblues  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +UnsFor The "clean" tone or pedal off is line level which sound horrible. They work in "on" mode when you're recording into a sound card. In off mode there's nothing worth listening to. Plug your guitar directly into a sound card and see how it sounds lol ;-)

    • @felipeuchida3378

      intheblues That's because of the high impedance that comes from the guitar's passive pickups. A Direct Box adds the voltage that lows the impedance.

    im running an american sound on the end of my chain. I'm thinking about the AC now as im finding the bass on the american doesnt drive very well, it gets pretty loose and farty (vintage correct is guess haha) ... or is that just me? any experience with that on your rig?
    i use an octave (drop) a fair bit and run the whole lot into a '98 Roland BC60 set super clean (they have mad bass response) mosty telecaster and an old harmony stella with a hot p90

  • @onefatstratcat
    @onefatstratcat 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    After watching your videos I picked up a British dirt cheap. Chose that one because it seemed the ACtone was a bit muddy and the American was a bit grainy to me at the higher gain stage. Actually ended up replacing my OD pedal on my board with the British. At higher gain it is a bit noisy but I was able to find a sweet spot to use with my single channel tube combo. Nice thing is is if my amp craps a little cable re-route and right into the board at the gig.. always good to have a backup plan :)

    I have the American and the AC tone Pedals great kit! use mine into the PA or into my Blackstar HT 20 on the clean channel, which only has a tone EQ on that channel. Not used them since getting the Mustang lll !!! apart from in the studio a couple of months ago. Again great pedals you can get some sweet modern country guitar tone from the AC tone cheers Shane great review

    Hey Shane. If im not looking to use this solely for amp simulation but rather to add some mid and character to my Vox AC15 hand wired amp would it work well in conjunction with that in the sense of adding the characteristics of the two together? Or would it more so completely take over the natural sounds of my amp?

    I have both the American and the Oxford tone. They both have something different to offer. The Oxford models an Orange amp. Very clean and can scream , miles prefer it to the British and the American is warmer and solid. Love these pedals. Use a bad monkey to overdrive the colourful sounds of these pedals

      They work amazingly! For clean, I found the American one seemed the best - It made my clean amp sound a LOT cleaner and even gave it a shimmer it didnt have dry! I couldnt believe it! The cleanest sound I could get on the amp raw was NOTHING compared to what this pedal did!
