    ► amzn.to/3LhQpRe
    The Joyo American Sound amp simulator pedal is an incredible piece of guitar gear. Whether you use it as your main amplifier solution, as a backup amp, or as a way to seek out new tones, the value you get for just $40 is outstanding. In this video, I’ll be diving deeper into the sounds you can get from this guitar pedal and pairing it up with a few of my favorite effects to see how it fairs in a modern guitar rig.
    Is the Joyo American Sound still relevant in 2022? Watch the video and let me know what you think in the comments below!

    Do follow up videos of setting up the Joyo AS/BS for different use cases: home recording to computer (running simple Audacity or Reaper that are popular), small gig with a clean inexpensive amp the player brings (and using the Joyo as the amp and cabinet simulator treating the amp like a PA, perhaps a JC120 or Bandit amp), larger gig with pro PA and hooking in the Joyo with inexpensive DI box without giving the sound board guy fits.

    You can totally use it with IRs! The built in speaker sim is just an EQ curve you can eq out and the three band EQ is super powerful.
    I'd definitely recommend it, I've been using an American Sound and a Nux Solid Studio with a couple Ownhammer IRs loaded as a DI solution for rehearsals and it sounds great. And with an ABY box on my board i can split the signal between my amp and the American Sound, super flexible rig.

      I'd suggest experimenting with both before and after. I'd say most players place this before delays and reverbs. If you're getting any sort of breakup from the pedal, then before is probably going to be better. If you're running it fairly clean and getting all your grit from other pedals, then it's not going to matter too much.

    Mine is modded to defeat the cab sim, you can google the mod and diy if you´re handy with a soldering iron. This way you can use IR´s. Sounds great and does the job. Been using a Helix and comparing to this pedal (and all analog pedals, really) I find that digital has a few high frequencies that are out of balance. I notice this when I bring the volume really high. Helix hurts the ears, the Joyo (or analog) is pleasant.

Just a quick question: if I'm wanting to use the Joyo at a gig in lieu of a traditional amplifier (running the Joyo into the PA system), do I need to first route the Joyo into a DI box, and then from there into one of the XLR channels on the PA head? Or may I simply run a quarter-inch cable from the Joyo's output into one of the quarter-inch inputs on the PA head? THANKS!

    I used this pedal directly into the mixer on a New Years gig we had last year. So basically i used: My guitar -> Wah -> DS1 -> Nux CH3 -> DD7 and the JOYO American Sound straight in the mixer. I thought at first that the signal is going to be weak and the tone not thick enough, but the combination of this pedal and the DS1 was so full and creamy I was pleasantly supriced of how everything sounded. I highly recommend this pedal.

      @Brother93Mali หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TahmidIshrak Considering that the pedal is a DI itself, no. If i have the chance I will try it in the future but I don't see the point of doing so. The pedal is powerful enough by itself and in combination with like TubeScreamer or DS1 it delivers suprisingly thick tone. Ofc if you turn it off then the whole volume level drops which you're not supposed to do with this pedal because you know... Would you turn off your amp in the middle of the gig? :D

      @@Brother93Mali what if i use it before wet pedals and after ds2 or a ts9 for example
      what iim trying to ask is that ive seen many ampless users put their UA 300usd++ amp sims put theirs between wet and dry to kind of get the fx loop type of setup and should it work with the 40usd joyo too?

    • @Brother93Mali
      @Brother93Mali หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TahmidIshrak That's applies more for studio setup like you would see in programs like guitarRig or BiasFx. Yes you can do that, but I find it better if I use it at the end of the chain because the efects are more prominent in this case, and what I do sometimes is I put a reverb pedal at the end to act as a glue if the mixer does not have any reverb on it. I think that's personal taste, but yes you can use it like you said too.

    Hi Andrew! I found this very useful, I recently bought a POD GO and I was so disappointed because it doesn't perform anywhere near as well as I hoped it would. I didn't even realise it was possible to obtain awesome amp tones from pedals at such a cheap price like this Joyo pedal. The only issue for me is that I play through a Boss Katana. I wonder if that would be a problem with a pedal like this? I do have the Boss Katana MK II 50 watt which allows you to plug into the power amp. I do that for the POD GO . I'm wondering if I would plug this in power amp section of the boss katana or the input jack?
    Sorry if this is a real newbie question, all of this is quite complicated to me. I love the tones you're achieving here by the way! It sounds very satisfying. It's got that Hendrixian tone I'm particularly fond of as well as quite a few other tones considering it's just one pedal ! It does seem to be really versatile.
    15:08 that Univibe tone is heavenly! nicely played

      By the way, thank you for explaining everything in depth.
      I'm looking at getting a few of these pedals . I like the look and sound of the Tc Electronic Ampworks pedals. I'm thinking of buying the 550 Tc Electronic ampworks for high gain sounds ( i've tried several EVH amps and always loved the high gain sounds! ) and a 65 Combo deluxe for clean tones. They both sound lovely to me. I'm thinking i'll get those pedals and use them into my boss katana and just stop buying things for a while! Have you tried the TC Electronic ampworks pedals?
      What do you think about that? Am I wasting money when I could just use my Boss Katana and play around with the effects and tones it offers? I'm sick of playing in menus and just want to play my guitar. I'm not old I swear haha. I love the feeling of a real amp and it's addictive. I know it's not portable and not as convenient but for me I like to experience a real amp in the room and the tones I already achieve on the boss katana are very pleasing to my ears.
      Anyway, thank you so much in advance. If you do have a chance to reply i'll be very grateful!

      That's interesting. When the Dream 6 came out I watched a lot of videos on it and was unhappy with some of the sounds while I thought it did well with others. I have the Joyo American and and generally very pleased with it except when you crank the gain, it does not sound so good at higher gain levels. But that's fine because I have other overdrive options. But recently I wanted to get a better sound from my Roland Micro Cube and the Joyo performed extremely well in that regard, it really sparked up the Micro Cube which is otherwise a bit dark and dull.

    The only drawbacks of the pedal are: 1) it does get noisy when the gain is moved past the 3 o'clock mark. And 2) the gain itself does not sound good past 3 o'clock, it sounds "farty." But that's okay because I use other pedals for gain.

      @andrewclarkeguitar  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In many cases the mixer will be at the back of the venue. In smaller venues or at home, you likely won't need one. But for any larger venue you'll need a DI or Line Isolator to convert the signal to XLR and run it over a longer distance.
