Don't know how anyone can hate on Koenigsegg and call themselves a car enthusiast? I've grown up as a Porsche fan all my life, but out of the boutique super cars I prefer Koenigsegg. That doesn't mean I have to hate Pagani. The world needs such brands and we should applaud their efforts. Think about the budgets of the German brands then look at how Koenigsegg and Pagani have come from nothing and established themselves at the pinnacle of their field. Simply amazing.
Pagani have been rumbled, the £1M super lightweight Huayra got beat at the track by the old 2 ton Veyron. Koenigsegg are next, they cant avoid the independent reviews forever. My guess is that a £200K McLaren 720S will beat the £2M Koenigsegg at the track ;)

yeah. Putting 1360 HP into the rear wheels is a pain in the ass, not only for the car, the driver got his challenge too. We will see it, I wouldnt be suprised if the Egg dont beat the time. If you're talking about the crash? that was due to a malfunction in one of the abs sensors, so nothing to worry about. The destruction of the lap record is still happening as scheduled.

I’m pretty sure they got some laptimes with these cars before they crashed, but the laptimes were probably like 6:50 or 6:47 which they probably considered “not good enough” so they kept trying until the damage on the cars from scraping the track caused the ABS in the cars to malfunction and crash.

M3Conv Why ? It's been narrowed down to an ABS sensor malfunction, the driver expected ABS at 170kmh but locked up when it wasn't there. The rears doesn't lock up to prevent rotation and it skidded off in a straight line as it was designed to do so. The warning light was on but it was overlooked by the driver. They are now implementing new systems to prevent speeds of that kind with active warnings on the panel. As someone said if you never crash you're not going fast enough. If you push the envelope you will crash eventually, the 918's lap is so good that it is debatable if any production car is capable of beating it (the lamborghini SV was close but rumors has it that the customer SV's are nowhere near as fast as their ring car) Of course it's dangerous but they belive this car can do it and it would be daft to not try again because of a crash caused by a combined ABS/driver error. I highly doubt that Porsche had zero incidents during their development and rigorous testing on the ring. They had all the data/drivers needed when the car was released. Porsche is Porsche afterall, decades of racing experience and budgets a company like Koenigsegg can only dream about. It's a testament to the safety of their cars imo with the monocoque being undamaged, both doors and the roof sutstained no damage. Front and rear subframes will be replaced , engine/driveline will be used again. This will of course cause delays but their goal is to be back this year. Well we all know your stance on this, until they either give up or post a lap i'll give them the benefit of the doubt. And you need to read that again, the rear diff did NOT lock up at all, it was a front axle lock up due to a left front ABS sensor fault. "Our ABS system, like most, includes a back-up feature where the rear wheels are allowed to continue rotating in the event of an ABS fault that results in the front wheels locking up. Letting the rear wheels rotate instead of locking up together with the front wheels prevents the car from rotating "
Koenigsegg is a failure at the Ring, they should have stayed away from it, now they have made themselves a laughingstock by crashing it. Watch video of Martin Brundle giving his thoughts on drivability of Koenigsegg, he said the car need a lot of development. “It’s all about drivetrain applications” quote from AMG ex-boss Tobias Moer. In that aspect, I think the K-egg is really behind. Sure the carbon artwork makes them appealing and their turbo v8 engine gives a lot of rare characteristics to the car, but in terms of actual racing application, they’re just not up to the level yet.

Yes it is (despite what the clueless say).
They do build it in house and the block is cast here in the UK, however the Architecture & basic layout are very similar to the Ford Modular V8 if you look below the CF covers

In Europe, and almost in the rest of the world, we use PAL encoding system that is 50Hz.

Why ? It's been narrowed down to an ABS sensor malfunction, the driver expected ABS at 170kmh but locked up when it wasn't there.
The rears doesn't lock up to prevent rotation and it skidded off in a straight line as it was designed to do so.
The warning light was on but it was overlooked by the driver. They are now implementing new systems to prevent speeds of that kind with active warnings on the panel.
As someone said if you never crash you're not going fast enough. If you push the envelope you will crash eventually, the 918's lap is so good that it is debatable if any production car is capable of beating it (the lamborghini SV was close but rumors has it that the customer SV's are nowhere near as fast as their ring car)
Of course it's dangerous but they belive this car can do it and it would be daft to not try again because of a crash caused by a combined ABS/driver error. I highly doubt that Porsche had zero incidents during their development and rigorous testing on the ring. They had all the data/drivers needed when the car was released. Porsche is Porsche afterall, decades of racing experience and budgets a company like Koenigsegg can only dream about.
It's a testament to the safety of their cars imo with the monocoque being undamaged, both doors and the roof sutstained no damage. Front and rear subframes will be replaced , engine/driveline will be used again.
This will of course cause delays but their goal is to be back this year. Not sure they will make it but i like the fact that they were so open about the crash, didn't try to hide it and presented information about what caused it.

Remember that companies only ever tell you what they want you to hear. saying that the rear differential locked up at high speed may put a few people off.
Fact is that even after 3 years they have not managed a single timed lap.
Well we all know your stance on this, until they either give up or post a lap i'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
And you need to read that again, the rear diff did NOT lock up at all, it was a front axle lock up due to a left front ABS sensor fault.
"Our ABS system, like most, includes a back-up feature where the rear wheels are allowed to continue rotating in the event of an ABS fault that results in the front wheels locking up. Letting the rear wheels rotate instead of locking up together with the front wheels prevents the car from rotating "
Koenigsegg is a failure at the Ring, they should have stayed away from it, now they have made themselves a laughingstock by crashing it. Watch video of Martin Brundle giving his thoughts on drivability of Koenigsegg, he said the car need a lot of development. “It’s all about drivetrain applications” quote from AMG ex-boss Tobias Moer. In that aspect, I think the K-egg is really behind. Sure the carbon artwork makes them appealing and their turbo v8 engine gives a lot of rare characteristics to the car, but in terms of actual racing application, they’re just not up to the level yet.
