    Good to see a "drop cloth" for putting the soil on... so many people just dump onto the grass which is harder to make a tidy job of leaving it how we found it.

    Thanks for the video. I need one of these coils to help in pin pointing. My only suggestion is to get rid of that digging tool and get an old thick serrated camp knife(rambo style) and when you dig, do a "horse shoe" and then pry up leaving a grass hinge. The grounds keeper will thank you!

      Thank you. I do need a new digger. Mine is getting very dull. I always try to cut U plugs but rocky or soil with lots of roots make it difficult sometimes. The ground has been very dry as well so I am not digging until we get more rain here.

    Just received the Coiltek coil today. Try it in a park in the morning. Thanks for the content.

      I enjoyed this video!! I look forward to seeing you compare this coil vs the 6 inch coil. I just recently got the 6"coil and am doing fairly well with it!! Great hunt and video my friend!😎

    I found this coil in Sacramento ( two hours from home) and the dealer was telling me that he wouldn’t waste the money on it. He tried to sell me the 6” coil. But so far I’m liking it. 8” to 10” deep is about as far as I’ll dig in a city park anyway. I have dug some targets that I’ve passed on before with the 11” stock coil. It does separate targets as long as there is at least an inch or so between them. I’m glad that I got the coiltek 8x10. BTW, I stopped at a park in Stockton to try it out and a cop ran me off. Someone called and said that I was digging up the lawn.

      Cops in cities like Stockton aren't fighting real crime due to low moral by the defund cops movement. So they go after people like you. Sad.

    Interesting video Ben, I’ll probably get one to hunt wooded areas. Looks to have good separation in parks as well. Kenny

    I have been looking forward to seeing the 5 X 10 in action. Looks like its doing the job. BTW make that first loop of the coil wire over the top of the shaft.

    • @detectorben8007
      @detectorben8007  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I wrap the cable both ways I have never noticed any difference on any of my machines. Heck some cables are routed straight up inside the shaft. I really don't think it matters.

    • @larrystephens7437
      @larrystephens7437 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@detectorben8007 It only add more stress to the cable when you put the detector down and the coil is flat. The last part of the video shows the cable bent down. Over time this MAY damage the cable. Just my opinion. Love your videos...

    Cool finds you think there’s much difference between the stock coil?

    • @detectorben8007
      @detectorben8007  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it definitely separates better than the stock coil. Not sure on depth yet but I would assume the 11" coil is deeper. I have dug 10"+ coins with stock coil. The 8" wheat I dug with 10x5 seemed like it was on the edge of the coils reach. The signal was a little soft and choppy.

    I know this is an older video but I wanted to ask a question and I’m hoping someone here would be willing to share their thoughts and experience. I don’t remember where I heard this, but I heard that it’s good to check targets from different angles and if the signal disappears it’s likely garbage and you should move on. So every time I dig I do exactly that and a coin will usually hit from every angle but the ones that I dig out of curiosity that hit in one direction but not the other, usually end up being nails or other garbage. Can anyone speak to this practice either for or against? Am I walking away from targets I should be digging? I’m still relatively new to detecting and by doing this I usually dig very little garbage and when I do dig garbage it’s usually because I’m taking a chance on a less than desirable target… just wondering if there’s a flaw to this…

    • @detectorben8007
      @detectorben8007  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes that is a very tried and true technique. Usually a coin will hit from all directions. There are exceptions though. If I coin is on edge it probably won't hit from all directions. Or it will change tone and ID from 2 directions. If there is trash or iron very close to coin it may not hit from all directions either. If you are in an area that has produced silver coins in the past I would personally dig any signal that sounds good from one direction or more. But there are other tells to bad signals as well. Just need to get used to the subtle nuances of each type of target.

      Most US dealers are out of stock right now. UK dealers and some other countries have them in stock now. You might have to look around to find one. Big Boys Hobbies is a dealer I like to use but not sure if he has any in stock yet.

    Do you feel that the coil tek outperformed the minelab coils

    • @detectorben8007
      @detectorben8007  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I wouldn't say it outperforms them. It is just a perfect size. The 6" round minelab coil has been my go to coil lately. But it is very small and doesn't cover area quickly. This coil seams to separate as well as 6" coil but goes deeper. I think I will prefer the 10x5 over the 6". I will still use the 11" minelab coil when I need maximum depth and coverage area. They are all 3 great coils and have their purposes.
