Great video, Ben! I saved a 4 kHz user profile also....found my first two silver dimes using it a few days ago.....a quicker way to go back to multi after your user profile is active is to press the “detect mode” button (instead of user profile button). Keep the live digs coming!! 👍🏼

I found the same result with 4khz. Deep target high tone falsing on nails. They sound awesome. Kind of like opening a Christmas present and finding coal. This update would be fine on clean ground.

Minelab continues: " this new frequency may respond differently for users compared to the other single frequencies." Keep that in mind as you test this feature . Recommending this for general use is not what it's for, no more than the 5 kHz frequency. Low frequencies are for deep targets, especially iron relics. I really like the stability of the 3.0 update and will never use 4 kHx (or 5 kHz) for coin and jewelry hunting. Thanks, Ben for your excellent videos.

NOTE: With Win 7 you have to right click the file and troubleshoot compatibility, run in xp compatibility. Wanted to add this here in case anyone has Win 7 still. It's quick and easy though, only that extra step needed to get the updater utility going ! :-) HH !

Awesome channel, I would use 4khz to go over an area that had deep old coins for sure. It hit an 11" deep silver quarter in my testbed no prob. The downside is it likes rusty bottle caps.

Was curious if you noted target ID numbers skewing higher than they used to after updating making proper ID'ing more difficult compared to how they used to ring up? That seems to be one of the main complaints of people who then roll back to 2.0. I just got my 800 recently and it came with the 3.0 already installed, so I don't have the previous experience to compare it to. Thoughts? Any opinion updates since this vid?
Hi DetectorBen, when you say an object is not deep. How do you determine depth on your equinox 800? Is it the shovel icon on the display? That indicator looks similar on all your targets.
Yes it is the shovel icon. Each shovel represents 2 inches. These indicators are based on coin sized objects so they can be off on other targets. I also base my depth assumptions off of the tone volume and strength and pin point tones. The indicator alone is not always accurate. There are a lot of variables that can throw off depth indicator such as iron or other targets very close to the coin.
So are there any disadvantages after getting the update? Did all of your previous settings and adjustments seem to work the same? I'm debating weather or not to get the update. Thanks.
I dig around 5 or 6 old nickels like V or Buffalo a year so not a lot. I do tend to focus on high tones. If I have the opportunity to hunt a site several times I will usually pick out the high tones first. Then go back and focus on mid tones. I don't often film mid tones either so not many make my videos.

From what I have seen a deep iffy coin signal in MF will clean up and sound better in 4khz. If the signal still sounds iffy or worse in 4khz it has been junk every time for me.

Love the NOX 800! Gave up using my Garrett pro years ago though the AT Pro kills it on silver.

I haven't seen any disadvantages with update. Everything works just like before with the added 4k frequency. I would recommend updating.

Unfortunately you cannot. Because iron is often a high tone and hits same vdi numbers as coins in 4khz so you would be most likely discriminating coins as well.
