The match was lost before it started regardless of the outcome. At least King played Riggs straight up level playing field. The handicap was the age difference, but Riggs had absolutely no problem beating Margaret Court in the earlier battle of sexes. Jimmy Connors wanted to play Monica Seles straight up with no handicap, but he proposed that each player put up $1 million dollars of their own money, and Monica refused. It would've been far more interesting to see Jimmy play Monica. Martina did not play well at all in this match.
Geez...Connors was only toying with Navratilova during the entire match by pretending to keep it close for the fans. He could have easily beaten her 6-0, 6-0. Thanks for uploading. I had an impression that it was truly competitive but anyone who's played tennis beyond the recreational level can see when Connors was holding back, running at partial speed, and intentionally hitting unforced errors.

I don’t think this was an exhibition for Martina. She was upset a lot of the time. Especially at 22:30 after being up 3-1. I thought it was very competitive. Martina had some great moments. Jimmy didn’t have a huge serve though. He should have been allowed 2.

Pour l'avoir vu en direct, une bonne joueuse française classée numéro 16 mondiale de son meilleurs classement, n'avait aucune chance de gagner sur un classé 2/6 ou 3/6 masculin avec qui elle s'entrainait avant de jouer à R.G.

the level was so weak comparing to 2000 years, Connors may be top 500-1000 ATP or even worse, thats truly amazing to see the evolution of skills, preparation, matreal, shoes etc etc..but ancien time was more fun and interesting as no assistance or the strict minima

Chaque genre a ses qualités et c'est dégrader les femmes que de vouloir ces combats. Unlike King/Riggs in 1973, which was politically and socially prevalent, this was a totally unnecessary spectacle. I wasted money on pay per view to see it. Unlike King/Riggs, where the playing field was level, Martina was given the sidelines and Jimmy only had one serve. All it did was inflate their wallets.
They didn't let McEnroe play her because he would've actually played his top game and crushed her 6-0, 6-0. His ego wouldn't have allowed him to be as gentlemanly as Connors was here.

Quand un homme joue au tennis contre une femme, il est presque pas possible que cette dernière gagne sauf s'il y a une très grande différence de niveau de jeu (niveau de jeu, pas de classement) aux vues de la différence de force physique et la rapidité de deplacement. C'est vrai pour le tennis comme dans beaucoup d'autres sport. Pour l'avoir vu en direct, une bonne joueuse française classée numéro 16 mondiale de son meilleurs classement, n'avait aucune chance de gagner sur un classé 2/6 ou 3/6 masculin avec qui elle s'entrainait avant de jouer à R.G.
navratilova s'est quand même vu accorder la moitié du couloir en plus ....flagrant sur la balle de match ou elle met un avion sur le fond du couloir sans qu'il y ai faute .
Quand j'étais 5/6, je mettais 6/1 à une joueuse classée - 30.
Connors a été courageux d'accepter la rencontre, parce qu'il avait tout à perdre et elle tout à gagner. S'il gagnait, c'était normal. S'il perdait, il n'avait plus qu'à disparaître tellement c'était l'humiliation.
Dans ce genre de match, il y a un nivellement pas le bas côté masculin, et par le haut côté féminin. L'homme a une pression énorme. Il n'a pas le droit de perdre. La défaite est interdite. Il risque de manquer de relâchement. La femme sera relâchée, elle va lâcher ses coups comme à l'entraînement, parce qu'elle n'a rien à perdre. Du coup, l'écart de départ se resserre.

Par contre la 16 eme est pro gagne très très bien sa vie quand le -15 est un amateur et limite paye pour jouer .

Elle a été 16 il doit y avoir une quinzaine d'année, à ce moment là, elle aurait pas gagnée contre un 0 masculin. Il n'empeche qu'elle a eu une carrière honorable. Être dans le top 100 mondial est déjà exceptionnel, et .atteindre le top 30 ou 20 quand on sait ce que ça représente en terme d’efforts de sacrifices et de TALENT. Carrière pas mal quand même !

the level was so weak comparing to 2000 years, Connors may be top 500-1000 ATP or even worse, thats truly amazing to see the evolution of skills, preparation, matreal, shoes etc etc..but ancien time was more fun and interesting as no assistance or the strict minima

Avec celui moderne, la puissance masculine est décuplée. Ce serait impossible même de faire quelques jeux pour une femme.
Certains jouaient env 15.4 en fin années 80 dans mon club et entrainaient des haut de seconde série féminine avec bcp de marge. A l'époque aussi Santoro jouait avec Steffi Graff, elle prenait 1 ou 2 jeux par set. Les exemples sont sans doute multiples.
La comparaison est idiote, c'est uniquement du spectacle. Chaque genre a ses qualités et c'est dégrader les femmes que de vouloir ces combats. D'ailleurs il a fallu ici des avantages pour Navratilova contre Connors pour espérer avoir un combat presque équilibré. Aucun sens !
