Nadal vs Soderling, 3rd Round of Wimbledon 2007. 92 hours of time lapse since it started until it finished, 4 hours played. Remembered for a moment in which it became personal. Twitter: / sllorcatennis Like & Subscribe for more Tennis content!

Even though some players have a special dislike for Nadal, I don't think Nadal has enemies. If Nadal likes you, he's going to give a 100% to beat you. If he doesn't like you, he's going to give 100% to beat you. There's no difference.

so sad for Söderling. Such a great player, he was able to compete against the best of the best in their primes and on their best surfaces. He had big results in grand slams and a promising career. And then he had to retire at age 26 because of a disease. Such a shame... tennis history could've taken a different path with him

Back when Rafa was really starting to figure out this whole “grass” thing. And Soderling I miss him. He was an exceptional talent

If nadal plays at this level like he is playing here no one would beat him today

this is genuinely THE prime nadal. and this is the greatest standard of tennis ive ever seen. and ive seen every game of the grand slams and main masters on clay, grass and hard since 1998. except for the sampras serve this is the greatest display of tennis. plus ive seen all the retro games of borg and mcenroe and lendl. but thats was a much lower standard of tennis.there is not a single player in history, on their best day who beats this nadal. but there is even a massive difference between nadal here and nadal the year after in 2008. every year he diminished slightly. still so good that he wins loads of grand slams, but still we didnt see the 2007 nadal again. and 2012 nadal was the last year where nadal was wonderful to watch. after that it was mental strength, grit e.c.t. and really consistently deep groundstrokes that allowed him to come back and triumpth over djokovic again in 2013. but though ive remained his devoted fan, and i dont want anyone else to win, 2013 nadal was so boring to watch especially against novak. also notice here how incredible nadal is at the net. people say he was defensive. is this defensive??? look how attacking nadal is. this is more attacking than federer on grass. i cant believe nadal then lost the final to federer. nadal should have won wimbledon, and should have won many wimbledons. thats my one regret for nadals career. i would give up all nadals five hard court grand slams, and replace them with wimbledons.then he shares borg's talent at dominating both of the natural tennis surfaces, the true tennis surfaces. i like australian open-its fast court , produces great matches including fed-nadal most recent australian open final three years ago which federer won. but id get rid of us open oen hard court-its the worst tournament, with noisy fans and ignorant commentators who seem to think players should expect the croud to shout and jeer even during serves and rallies. smaller audience numbers like french open and wimbledon and a more dignified atmosphere and a higher class of audience only allowed in. not the hooligans you get a us open. and the court is horrible, produces the worst matches. me tand soderling was a monster. soderlings forehand is harder than del potros sledgehammer, but del potro only occasionally hits those big sledgehammer forehands, so it wasnt a weapon, whereas the nadal top spin lasso buggy whip forehand that he perfected-he does that virtually every single forehand. only the occasionaly forehand he hits flat. so its continuous vicious top spin , high bounce and loopy whip on the ball, usually targeting the opponents backhand mercilessly. and actually nadal did this the best at wimbledon. he actually puts way more spin on the ball on grass than on clay. you can hear it, hes chopping the ball at the top of the ball so it has a light rather than heavy impact sound. soderling hits forehand and backhand really really hard. plus a massive serve. soderling has every weapon. but he does similar to federer in that he doesnt use a strategy against nadal. soderling is hitting too much to nadals forehand. theres no game play from soderling, ezcept be aggressive and hit the ball hard. this was nadal when he was at his fastest, so nadal retrieves everything here. so that gameplan doesnt work. i notice federer's serve always breaks down against nadal as well. big reason why he kept losing to nadal.
djokovic implements a strategy for the whole match vs nadal by targeting nadals backhand with shaped forehands which force nadal to retrieve wide balls with his backhand until finally he hits one back a bit short, then novak hits a backhand winner down the line. federer implemented that for one set in the australian open semi final 2012 and dominated nadal for most of the first set winning it.but then federer seemed to forget, or got bored of it and started hitting all his shots. hitting to nadals forehand is the worst strategy in tennis. nadals game is simple, hit as many forehands as possible, all forehands-with wicked top spin whip, high bounce and near or on the bounce line. go around the ball to hit a forehand if needed. serve always to opponents backhand. also nadals backhand here, is better than his backhand in any other year. so when pundits have said about nadal working on his backhand and having improved it. that is not correct. his backhand gradually worsened. and presently this year it is a worry. nadal won the french open final last year against novak by hitting every ball with his forehand. also notice the number of drop shots nadal is playing. theres far more grass court variety to his game. here. i feel nadal became more conservative in style because he felt people perceived him as being abit wild. hence the haircut, and changing the pirate shorts. should have kept the pirate shorts.

@@shaunhumphreys6714 the passing shot of badal became better with the spin on the cross court but Soderling smothered him with the sledgehammer forehand straight down the throat...where McEnroe and Ivan Lendl will be pissing . But then when the backhand got worse in the open era bearing in mind that the two handed left handed back hand of Nadal is getting towards a better topspin and a crazy variations making reading of his serves more dangerous and impossible, he started working more on his banana more heavy weight top spin hard hitting forehands to overpower his opponents. He got stronger not weaker after 2007 and has a better serve now compared to back then but wear and tear made his backhand gaining towards the terrible side and now doubts creeping in but getting on the slice and the two handed backhand into the passing heavy shot of the cross court is the new game of the alpha Nadal who is a beast but pirate shorts . Going by analytics the post 2008 era was dominating Rafa but weak in the post 2016 and Federer wit an improvisation in his serves in 2014 made sure possible to target the baseliners in the most uncomfortable way throwing them off momentum and then flash his neo forehand backhand in the zone . Take that Berdych!!!
