This man covers every car. I just saw the Honda Pilot, Cadillac Escalade , Lexus gx550 , Toyota grand Highlander and now this. All out of my price range. Nice too see!!!!
2020 Corolla XLE non-hybrid owner here (inherited from MIL). 40 mpg highway, driver's seat is uncomfortable after two hours, driver's door traps water after a rainstorm (pull the rubber plugs at the bottom of the door), handles ok, made in Japan, port injection, radar cruise works well. The LE is probably the best buy.
@@viewviewview1236the Canadian version does have the heated seats on the LE Corolla. MY 2020 Corolla LE has that standard along with heated windshield as standard for Canadians. I’m only at 31k miles.
I just celebrated the one-year mark with my 2024 Corolla XLE Hybrid, 10,466 miles at a combined 58.6 mpg (never cleared it from day one). I commute 70 miles on So CA freeways 3 days a week - lots of stop and go. I bought this after my 2023 Hyundai Hybrid died within one month (only one battery which crapped out) and it was bought back. BTW, Toyota has a starting battery plus the hybrid. I have the upgraded JBL stereo and Ice Cap paint. Highly recommend the car and the 2025 version that's out now has a 10.5 inch screen vs the 8" on mine. Also they increased the HP to 141. I don't floor it and maximize my mileage by staying in eco mode whenever possible. I looked at the 2024 Accord Hybrid but there was dealer markups and no XM radio standard - am very pleased with the size and quality.
@@funkonsight really it comes down to styling I think. The front of the Corolla is much better than it used to be but the rear is very stale at this point
I'd love a Mazda3 hybrid, or a Corolla hatchback hybrid in Canada (the marigold one please), or the Yaris cross hybrid, in Canada. It's hard wanting things that don't exist.
A well designed car. No excuse any more for incandescent bulbs when LED is cheaper because you don't need a socket. 53 MPG is quite incredible for a sedan; that was considered impossible when i was a kid.
Great job by Lori. I am from the 8 track tape era, but I believe a pencil or pen was used on cassette tapes to break off a tab so they couldn't be recorded over. Back in the 70s, when the Civic and Corolla came out, the Corolla was small, but the Civic was significantly smaller it was really tiny.
Couple of more thoughts. It is a nine speaker stereo due to the subwoofer. I also have the all black interior which keeps it clean. Handles decently and back seat folds down to handle two golf bags and pull carts.
You can get an LE hybrid with AWD, but not the XLE. It makes no sense Toyota. With the LE package you can also add most of the features that the XLE has, and it's still cheaper than the XLE. The LE is the way to go.
The wheels look like the designers said "what if we made them look like hubcaps, but...are real wheels?!" Seriously though, my ex had a 90s Corolla, and my daughter had a 07 one, and it's amazing to see how far the model has come since those days. Is it really an "econobox?" Hmm... (p.s. I still got boxes and boxes of cassette tapes. Somewhere I even have a Walkman!)
It is a boring general appliance. I looked at one but no matter how good the fuel economy was, it was a penalty box, that I would not settle for. Looked at the AWD and when I found out how little power goes to the rear tires that was the last straw. Not for me
Hey Joe, you should definitely review that Hyundai Ioniq 5 N if you end up finding one. Also, I’m such a huge fan of your on-throttle action. Keep it up! ❤️❤️
Corolla non hybrid owner here. Agree with Joe, even the non hybrid has about the same power (or lack of) as the hybrid. I love my car but lack of power to merge of the fun MA and NH highways is an issue.
Anthony, I have a 2020 Corolla LE and until now for the last 4 years and I have not replaced anything at all, other than maintenance. It may not be fun to drive but it’s really smooth in both city and highway and the fuel has cost next to nothing. This is the gas version by the way and I’m planning to keep it for a long time and mine also has the old 1.8 litre engine which is reliable too.
Hey Joe, even when sitting still there seems to be a lot of noise, is the fan noise pretty high in that car? Also the Honda Civic Touring looks larger in size and larger interior room and the body is sportier looking than this Corolla.
I like my corolla LE hybrid, its as basic as it gets, steel wheels don't care if curbed replace hub caps, electric a/c blows cold esp in phoenix 110 heat
There's no point in paying 29 grand for this car when you can buy the 2025 Camry Hybrid for just a couple grand more. It doesn't make sense unless someone wants a smaller car.
This is hilarious, because I went to 4 dealer in the past month and they all laughed when I asked about the XLE, since that car is basically not anything that any of the dealers would ever carry, they said, because nobody wants to pay for the extras
I actually wish more non-performance cars would come with 16" wheels with more sidewall. More comfy on city roads, harder to rash when parallel parking, and better mileage. Although I do agree that these particular wheels are pretty bland.
It's a "Go Fer" car. Go fer dis and dat! Initial Purchase Price, Resale Value, and MPG is all that counts in a Go Fer. This ain't your "Ride". It's just your service vehicle. But if it's your ONLY ride, Honda Civic, or Mazda 3.
I’m actually disappointed that the Prius still exists. It should have been an experimental vehicle to figure out hybrid vehicle technology and then ported over to make that technology work in the existing lines.
WHITE HEADLINER is a major plus for the Corolla vs the black headliner for the CIVIC. Don't know why 'premium' cars are moving to all black, it's disgusting.
My lady and I had a ride in a '24 LE Corolla. The exterior was super white, its interior was black leatherette seating and a mish mash of shapes all combined together. The interior also had a plastic like finish feeling very cheap to the touch. The ride was terrible, feeling every minor irregularity on the street. I'm 6'1" and the back seat was quite uncomfortable. Getting in and out was a chore. Guess what? I will NOT purchase any form of Corolla. It was terrible. As some reviewers claim it IS an appliance with a reputation for being bulletproof, so to speak. The Lyft driver was a hulk which also made the interior claustrophobic. My verdict? 👎👎 To each their own!
I've owned 4 Corollas. They are boring, slow and loud under acceleration. They are also reliable as heck.
After looking at your profile photo, you have just described yourself. Boring and slow, and loud under acceleration
