Girl you honestly don't need to feel bad about complaining about the housing crisis even if you're doing relatively well financially because you are not a homeowner. I live for landlord slander. Yes 'trapped' is a perfectly reasonable way to describe the situation. One landlord ups the price and is able to get away with it because people are desperate so they all up the price because there is always someone desperate enough or rich enough to pay. It's a terrible cycle.
Sometimes there literally isn't even someone rich or desperate enough to pay, and they'd rather leave more than half a building empty, squeezing a profit somehow out of of 30% occupancy to keep their parasitic asses afloat. It should be straight up illegal to have less than 80% occupancy of your properties on average, because if you're making a profit off keeping houses *empty,* you're not actually "providing a service", it's just outright theft from the people who can apparently afford it and hoarding of an essential resource
Irish rent crisis is crazy bc 1800 a month for a whole flat is actually unheard of here like that’s how much a bedroom in Dublin costs. (Not diminishing how bad the British cost of living crisis is, I’m just shocked at how bad the housing crisis is in Ireland when it could also be solved by doing rent caps and letting people live in the several empty buildings that are in liveable conditions instead of demolishing then to build more hotels)
Really sad actually about the idol, at first it was a culty look behind the scenes if hollywood from a female perspective and then they rewrote most if it after sam levinson came in.....and then the first spoilers got released and the details (the whole photo thing...) of the first 2 episodes a few days ago yeah its kind of sad Like that one woman in the interview saying stuff fir example jennie role got cut so much shorter and she got basically told to just sit there and look pretty, like how do people get away with that
Never feel bad for complaining about the housing crisis! We have the same situation in Canada and even though my partner and I own a home (moved to a cheap city + lucky with jobs) I am constantly shouting from the rooftops about how housing costs too much because it affects everyone I love. And Toronto cost of living means I’ll never be able to live near my family and friends back home. Look into the “housing theory of everything” in economics.
i'm so fortunate to currently be in public housing in vic australia right now; the housing and rental crisis has literally never been worse here, a report came out that exactly 0% of rentals in Melbourne are deemed 'affordable' for people on unemployed welfare, like wtf. sucks that my family of 5 had to become and remain homeless for months for it to be available to us; on top of that it has taken over 6 years for us to finally be placed in a home that is deemed permanent, despite being listed as 'urgent.' its ridiculous how little people understand what the purpose of government owned housing was supposed to be.
I’m in Florida in the US and the housing here is also absolutely crazy and terrible. The average rent for a 1b/1b in the area that I live in, which is considered a retirement town, is $1600. Wages around here for a majority of young workers or “unskilled” workers isn’t more than $13. It is actually impossible for anyone I know around my age to move out without having 4 other roommates in a rundown apartment. It’s so frustrating for everyone older around here as well to not see the issues with living wage and rent, especially when they aren’t having to deal with being in the work force anymore. Especially living in a very conservative state, which is now on the no travel list due to how many restrictions they’ve put on peoples rights in the last few months
Just left Florida because of the cost of living. My husband lived there all his life and now has to hear all of these rich people who are probably conservative talk about how they’re going to move to Florida and asking him why he left and he’s just like “let’s think about this for a second.”
My boyfriend was living in Isle of Dogs in London last year, paying £1450 for a studio. The landlord increased the rent to £1900 a month so he was forced to move out. We later saw the flat on rightmove for £2000.
dang i used to live there too and had to move because the rent was just too much, it had almost tripled since i first moved there within the span of a year which was insane..
Since we are sharing parasitic landlord stories: we had to leave a pretty nice house (far outside the city though) in Florida because the owner decided to sell (nothing more depressing than watching people tour your house that you’re getting kicked out of and talk about what renovations they’d do and where they’d put the TV right in front of you). We had to find a place pretty quick so found one ten mins away from the original house (still about half an hour outside the city). The house was a trailer that was built in the 1960s (the property it was on was nice though). We lived in this house for 2 years bc we couldn’t afford a place. The plumbing broke about every month. We couldn’t even wash too many dishes at a time bc the sink would fill up with water. The house foundation also settled and the doors broke off the frame due to the settling. The final straw was we spent a bunch of money on a washing machine and tried to install it but the plumbing was so bad it flooded the place and the water wouldn’t stop running and was about to get into the near by outlet and my husband was standing on the machine trying to not get electrocuted and block the water while I ran around trying to turn off the water (eventually found the shut off valve in the yard after trying several other shut off valves). There was also no fan in the bathroom so we had to constantly scrub mold off the walls. When we finally left they kept our security deposit. Also found out that the Landlord had known what the problem with the plumbing was all along he just didn’t want to fix it…
I love that you speak about the housing crisis! I really like all your content about the UK, and I do not live there. I hope you keep talking about these and other things UK related, it is very interesting xxx
I rent in the Bay Area California and we have comparable rental prices to what you mentioned- everyone I know pays at least half their income on rent it’s so bad!! And then people (homeowners lol) don’t want to build new big apartments because it “ruins the aesthetic of the neighborhood.” Also the barriers to even rent I could go on and on- proof of 3x income (everyone lies), full credit report, precious landlord recs etc
You’re hilarious 😭 especially when you talked about how they brought up clips of your podcast and it was you talking about girly stuff lmfaooo I screamed. But I really do love your podcast! 🩷
Babes gift giving is one of the things I hate most in life 😂😭like it’s awkward to receive them and I never know what to get people, literally feels me with so much anxiety 😅
My advice is anytime someone mentions liking or being nostalgic for or wanting something is to just write it down in your notes app or take a mental note and go back to it.
i have this problem too unfortunately. one way ive found that i can get around it is but giving 'gifts' that are actually just acts of service; i love doing things for people but can never give gifts, i never know how to do it or what to get them. so for example i make 'vouchers' for people like a free dinner and drink on me, or for my mums birthday i just had my brother take her out and i put up all the new curtains she had just bought for her. i sincerely dont know how im supposed to live the rest of my life like this😭😭
Thank you for this bonus episode, i loved every second of it ! 🤩🤩🤩 and you don't need to feel bad about complaining at all ! We love your honesty and we know that you are aware of the reality of the world so don't be afraid of telling us your reality too 💜💜💜 And i agree with you nudity/sex scene is not a bad thing it can be something needed for the story but in that specific case of Euphoria it wasn't needed at aall, it was just Sam's fantasies or i don't know but it wasn't genuine and necessary !
I wish housing for people in your situation was more accessible and affordable considering how benefits are. I'm so sorry ❤️ it does nothing, but it's truly a problem
I watched the first episode of the idol and I’m wondering what others think about it. The episode wasn’t bad. But there were so many funny editing mistakes like weird voice overs not matching lips. And clothes/hair moving from one shot to another. It made me giggle. I will say the intimacy coordinator slander was so weird and the exposition was also weird. Like they wanted to hit all the things critics might say about the show.
I thought it was great. I don’t think the intimacy coordinator slander is supposed to reflect what they believe. It’s supposed to show what kind of team Jocelyn has.
Yesssss new video! Also I pay £1050 for a double bedroom in south London with an en-suite and I have 6 other housemates I share with 😂😂 a 1 bed with an outdoor space is like £2300 plus now
Living in Sheffield having to look for a new place was HELL especially for sharers alsl i have definitely noticed the houses and flats that are for renting have started ro dropping there prices cause no one is taking it up (AS THEY SHOULD) but yh I hate the current renting market like youre fighting with like 20 other people for one flat its so stressful i hate it luckily we found a place but if i didnt i would have to move back home I earn over 30K and a one bed flat thats 650-800 is actually insane when just three yrs ago i lived in a studio for 475
Omg your rent is over $2100 USD. I hate this housing market! My rent is $1550 USD and it is rent controlled but that's still ridiculous for a studio apartment in a major US city. I like the area I'm in, but its far from being a trendy spot.
Personally I live in Montreal (I know it's not the same as London, but it is a big city and the rents are pretty high) and people complain when the landlords up their rent by 35$, so to me 200 pounds is absolutely massive???
Here for chatty bonus episodes :) ps. I live in Auckland and the rent here is bonkers too. But it's made worse by the fact that it's AUCKLAND. Not London. Not New York. Just bloody Auckland and the rent is acting like this is a city that people all around the world aspire to live in 😑
I loved both seasons of Euphoria and loved each episode. I was disappointed to see the downgrade of the character Cat, she was my favorite character and the most relatable to me. Personally, the one person that should say that the sex scenes were objectivity are the actors themselves, and no one else.
Brand trips must be so fun for influencers but as a viewer it is the most boring content. I always skip them 🤷♀️ Crazy how some brands would spend so much money to send influencers to the fking Maldives!
girl, euphoria is written ONLY by sam levinson, he's said he's based on his life growing up - but also, it's based on another tv show with the same name, which ?????? but yeah, what's bad is bad solely because of him. same, with the idol. if anything the idol morese because now he can do more of what people criticized him for because these are all adult characters and it seems like he doesn't have anyone to stop him even less now. if anything it seems like abel is hyping him up, which as a huge fan of him for years, is such fucking let down. we all knew abel wrote about problematic subjects but also agreed that it was character, and more so a fantasized recount of events - but now I'm wondering what parts of the awful situations in those songs i used love were actually fantasy or everything was reality - and if the redemption arc he was writing for his character even reflects on real events or if he's also making that up and still continues to be a piece of shit. it honestly sounds unfortunate all around. i wanna hold onto hope that the later episodes will be better and will actually be more reflective of what it was originally supposed to be about - but i also wouldn't be too surprised if turned out to be more of the same.
Glad u touched on Stranger Things season 4 cuz I feel like it was a dumbed down version of the story. Like I love season 4 don’t get me wrong but it just felt like it was pandering to the younger audience. I’m sorry but next season I need 11 to kick mike to the curb, he’s clearly infatuated with her and that doesn’t mean love, there is more romantic tension between mike and will sorry 🤭
don't even feel bad for complaining about the housing crisis girl. like even the people who can afford to still rent in london are beginning to struggle, the increases are just that bad now it's awful literally everyone is just going through it in some way now. kinda scary to think about how bad its going to continue to get
I watched the idol and the scene where she’s choking herself and masturbating I was so uncomfortable, maybe because I’m 31 and all I could think was “no you’re Johnny Depp’s daughter!! Stop” because I remember seeing her in 2007 as a lil kid 😢 bug she’s a very gifted actress. She has a slightly creepy face in the studio scene though that was bad editing because she’s actually stunning IRL
I think basically all the podcast that I follow that do weekly uploads all have either a cohost or guest sometimes both. Especially just having other people in the room to talk to while you’re talking shit about whatever like that’s something incorporated in even those right wing political nut shows. They’ll ask their female producers if they enjoy being objectified and they always say yes because they work on an alt right podcast show 😵💫
Love the episode❤❤ about seaseon 2 of euphoria, i think that the only thing Sam levinson did good apart for episode 5 is how he wrote grief. Always replaing the funeral scene and the speach that Rue reads. I understend that feeling and i feel really seen. Its sucks that levinson is an ashole Sorry my bad writing im from Argentina
Yeah but Kieran culkin 🥺 Shiv is great I don’t want to be the girlie to say oh them saying the succession writers are misogynistic is misogynistic in of itself but it is bc shiv is an angel a neolib angel I felt the worst for her, Roman and Connor this season like I was so anti Kendall sorry he squished romans face twice Like she’s a nice version of Cersei if the lannisters are succession lol and she isn’t nearly the worst her dad is her brothers are both horrible too and she’s been pimped out by her dad and hurt too like but everyone see’s her as the most evil when she technically doesn’t even make it into top 10 evil game of thrones people in my opinion but I support women’s wrongs
when you said "it's been hard to keep up with house work lately" omg I felt that... I've been feeling like that for months now, it's so frustrating. it's a paralyzing feeling and I get really really frustrated that my house keeps being a mess and I feel like I can't do anything about it even tho I want to. I feel like this is associated to some of my mental health problems and also ADD. if anyone has any tips, please feel free to share 🤍
A24 is justthe usual mysogynist filmbro company. I'm glad at least this project The Idol is giving people a peak into the kind of bullshit these guys think is art. Between this and the latest Ari Aster film bust, I feel like their movie "Fucking Identical Twins" will be the one to show the world how bad their taste for cinema actually is. EEAAO was a good exception, but lately if their movies aren't incredibly boring, they're incredibly shitty.
The Idol is a terrible show, I was so shocked on how Lily R Depp is so eager to be the next it girl or Hollywood star, she almost look desperate and I love her! but is a terrible show based on unnecessary sex scenes, shock value and drugs or violence. CRINGE
I love Rachel Sennott lol the first episode of the idol was good in my opinion I do not like levinson at all lmao but I’m seeing no real reviews just a lot of people admitting they will never watch it and it’s obviously trash but like wait till it’s all out before you say all that lol lily was great and the weeknd’s character is clearly the devil and it’s bad what is happening they pay homage to Britney it’s supposed to show how bad and misogynistic the industry is and people are still awful to Britney and women in the industry and out so to those saying we don’t need a show like this idk I think we do need it lol it’s no more provocative than game of thrones or girls or any hbo or a24 thing and ppl are praising pearl and X forgetting he produced them too lol and saying “he thought he was doing a pearl with this scene of lily’s face crying and laughing” and like no the scenes convey completely different themes lol and they all love pearl and x even though they’re associated w levinson still but this is too much lol I think he should be less liberal with the nudity and I have many issues but the idol is not saying exploitation is good lol and lily is a model who is comfortable with these scenes and people are just being rude about her performance when she’s doing a great job imo bless her like I don’t like nepo babies but I keep finding out ppl I love are nepo babies every other day idk how to keep up nor care anymore lmao
hm, i just check comments and so many of us talk about housing crisis, just wow, i too want to say something i live in a Donetsk, so there's a war, military situation for more than a year (but yeah we've been in this situation for 10 years now, but nowadays it's just... new level). so, i'm almost 23, my boyfriend is like 21. i've graduated but not from a uni - just local college, like 4 (for me - 3) years after school and you can become a... engineer's somehow half\half apprentice of maybe a clerk or salesman... zero perspectives. my bf just on his way - 2/4 years is over. and we just... realized that we are sometimes gets really annoyed by the fact that we live with our parents. we've basically unable to live together - bc in my town, the most peaceful with almost 0 cargo 200 each day, just no one wants to just give their houses "for free". those who sell their houses is like "less than 1 500 000 rub? NO WAY, yes, we don't have even wallpapers in this concrete box but NO WAY you can buy a home that cheap". because YES of course due to war many of our man like... fulfill their duty for like 50 000 rubles for a monts, if there's a combat or hot spots they can have a 200-300 000 for a month, but this is INCREDIBLE amount of money. but if you are, like, a civil boy - you don't have this chance, and even if you sign up a contract - no way they pay you more that 40-50 000. but without a "proper" education and "right" diploma your highest salary is 40 000. i cannot work due to some specific mental conditions, he can - but there's not enough. even if we work our asses off - the prices keep gets higher and higher and so we can not afford even rent something like home. my mom gets 50,000 a month, but she has 25 years of experience and works as a teacher, that is, on a budget. she also receives 20,000 pensions for her work experience - we no longer have such an opportunity, we didn't even get it. houses are not rented to anyone except families with children, and apartments are not rented in principle - they are immediately saved for sale in order to get more. as a result, people like us simply don't have any chance to earn money for quality housing. and my parents bought a house for themselves... transferring the money of that time to the current one - for 20,000 rubles.

i appreciate how you were transparent about how much rent you pay! people are often way too vague about it, but transparency helps the conversation

Sam Levinson writes all of Euphoria by himself unfortunately to the chargin of all the other network executives.

I think Succession, Barry, and Ted Lasso all ending this year had a lot to do with the anticipated writers strike.

rental crisis, mortgage crisis and let's not forget, cost of living crisis! triple threat!

The cost of living crisis is out of control, in an hour outside nyc with no direct train service and 1bed apartments are going for minimum 2k
In Amsterdam we also pay so much a 3 bedroom (shared flat) costs around 3150€ cold so with extra costs etc it’s around 3500€ per month split between 3
I love how real you are, I felt like I was on FaceTime with you 😂 so glad I found your channel!!!

apparently it get bad from the second episode, like lily rose deep having ĉůM on her face for no apparent reason and a lot of weird sex scenes
Yesssss new video! Also I pay £1050 for a double bedroom in south London with an en-suite and I have 6 other housemates I share with 😂😂 a 1 bed with an outdoor space is like £2300 plus now
The first of episode of the idol was absolutely kinda gross and terrifying, especially the last scene of the episode made me gag.
I don't think I can watch any more. All the nudity and torture corn was so unnecessary. Plus the weeknd's acting was so cringy
Living in NYC and hearing you pay 1900 pounds a month for a one bed is unfathomable. You can't get anything decent for less than 3000 here 😢
to be fair 1900 gbp is around 2300 usd but still 😢nyc is unlivable
boston and massachusetts in general is also pretty bad 💀😭

Like I love season 4 don’t get me wrong but it just felt like it was pandering to the younger audience. I’m sorry but next season I need 11 to kick mike to the curb, he’s clearly infatuated with her and that doesn’t mean love, there is more romantic tension between mike and will sorry 🤭
i am dominic fike's biggest fan and simultaneously elliot's biggest hater
don't even feel bad for complaining about the housing crisis girl. like even the people who can afford to still rent in london are beginning to struggle, the increases are just that bad now it's awful literally everyone is just going through it in some way now. kinda scary to think about how bad its going to continue to get
Elf power grip or milk hydro grip? U said elf hydro grip so im unsurreeeee
Really fun podcast btw and they really did you dirty with that clip!!!!!
Its sucks that levinson is an ashole
Sorry my bad writing im from Argentina
💘💘💘
31:40 he absolutely did not write the idol
Yeah but Kieran culkin 🥺 Shiv is great I don’t want to be the girlie to say oh them saying the succession writers are misogynistic is misogynistic in of itself but it is bc shiv is an angel a neolib angel I felt the worst for her, Roman and Connor this season like I was so anti Kendall sorry he squished romans face twice
Like she’s a nice version of Cersei if the lannisters are succession lol and she isn’t nearly the worst her dad is her brothers are both horrible too and she’s been pimped out by her dad and hurt too like but everyone see’s her as the most evil when she technically doesn’t even make it into top 10 evil game of thrones people in my opinion but I support women’s wrongs
oh my gosh i didn't know she had vaginismus twinss
when you said "it's been hard to keep up with house work lately" omg I felt that... I've been feeling like that for months now, it's so frustrating. it's a paralyzing feeling and I get really really frustrated that my house keeps being a mess and I feel like I can't do anything about it even tho I want to. I feel like this is associated to some of my mental health problems and also ADD. if anyone has any tips, please feel free to share 🤍
i cant believe u just called a mental breakdown a 'menty b'
A24 is justthe usual mysogynist filmbro company. I'm glad at least this project The Idol is giving people a peak into the kind of bullshit these guys think is art. Between this and the latest Ari Aster film bust, I feel like their movie "Fucking Identical Twins" will be the one to show the world how bad their taste for cinema actually is. EEAAO was a good exception, but lately if their movies aren't incredibly boring, they're incredibly shitty.
احد يقول لها ان درجة الفانديشن مو مناسبه لها 😀
The Idol is a terrible show, I was so shocked on how Lily R Depp is so eager to be the next it girl or Hollywood star, she almost look desperate and I love her! but is a terrible show based on unnecessary sex scenes, shock value and drugs or violence. CRINGE
I love Rachel Sennott lol the first episode of the idol was good in my opinion I do not like levinson at all lmao but I’m seeing no real reviews just a lot of people admitting they will never watch it and it’s obviously trash but like wait till it’s all out before you say all that lol lily was great and the weeknd’s character is clearly the devil and it’s bad what is happening they pay homage to Britney it’s supposed to show how bad and misogynistic the industry is and people are still awful to Britney and women in the industry and out so to those saying we don’t need a show like this idk I think we do need it lol it’s no more provocative than game of thrones or girls or any hbo or a24 thing and ppl are praising pearl and X forgetting he produced them too lol and saying “he thought he was doing a pearl with this scene of lily’s face crying and laughing” and like no the scenes convey completely different themes lol and they all love pearl and x even though they’re associated w levinson still but this is too much lol I think he should be less liberal with the nudity and I have many issues but the idol is not saying exploitation is good lol and lily is a model who is comfortable with these scenes and people are just being rude about her performance when she’s doing a great job imo bless her like I don’t like nepo babies but I keep finding out ppl I love are nepo babies every other day idk how to keep up nor care anymore lmao
hm, i just check comments and so many of us talk about housing crisis, just wow, i too want to say something
i live in a Donetsk, so there's a war, military situation for more than a year (but yeah we've been in this situation for 10 years now, but nowadays it's just... new level). so, i'm almost 23, my boyfriend is like 21. i've graduated but not from a uni - just local college, like 4 (for me - 3) years after school and you can become a... engineer's somehow half\half apprentice of maybe a clerk or salesman... zero perspectives. my bf just on his way - 2/4 years is over. and we just... realized that we are sometimes gets really annoyed by the fact that we live with our parents. we've basically unable to live together - bc in my town, the most peaceful with almost 0 cargo 200 each day, just no one wants to just give their houses "for free". those who sell their houses is like "less than 1 500 000 rub?
