Controversial opinion but her actual outfits sucked, only Kaya Scodelario could make them look cool lmao. Hear me out the accessorizing and the cuts were always sorta off and awkward. An average girl would look comical in it. I mean it got less offensive in the later seasons but still.

I think a lot of this is actually related to the recession and how we tend to recycle and reuse items from the previous trend cycle more often in times like this. People have belle flats and high waisted jeans still in their closet and with social media making us obsessed with constant change and uniqueness, reusing out of fashion items paired with more current items i think is something to celebrate. we just have to make sure these smaller and smaller trend cycles encourage us to reuse rather than buy

these were so universal, Eos and babylips were insanely hard to get in here in Finland too. also, I don't think I've ever been happier than when I went to London with my mom when I was like 14 and got to shop at this huge Victoria's Secret store. I spent hours at just the Pink section (which we didn't have in Finland so everyone was so jealous when I got back haha) 😂💖
also: YES pale grunge Tumblr! I remember it so vividly. found my old tumblr one day and the profile pic was LITERALLY one of those emo edits of rapunzel from tangled 😂😂I definitely agree that it was harmful though.

I'm 23 and I too grew up on Tumblr and lived through Pale Grunge, everyone was romantizicing eating disorders and depression it was Wild. The one good thing about that era was the music, I still mostly listen to Lana, Arctic Monkeys and The Neighbourhood. I wonder how POC were affected by that era when I, a white latina, wanted my white skin to be as translucent as those from the girls on Tumblr.

I wrote my dissertation this year on 2014 tumblr and aesthetics on the internet (both “aesthetics” and also just how we take pics and present online) and I got to interview Elizabeth bishop! She was such a queen!! Love this podcast and can’t wait for more episodes x

I played style boutique on the 3ds also. I was absolutely OBSESSED. I had like three of them and still play them sometimes it’s so fun, although i think it’s also called style savvy I’ve seen more people call it that.
Sadly I lost lots of my old 3ds games (like a barbie dogs fashion one which I played so much)

I've been wearing a black choker off and on since they came back with the 90's trend around 4 years ago? It's one of those pieces I cling to and cherish probably because I thought they looked so cool as a little kid and I just like seeing myself with it on whether it's on trend or not 🙈

but honestly I totally agree with the whole long form content revival. I found that I really miss just watching longer grwm and just makeup videos. there's something really calming and fun about watching people just sit down and chat with the camera, wether it be podcasts or doing ur makeup. I love the conscious effort to slow down our consumption, it feels like there is a general shift that has been due for a while now. I'm honestly really glad it's happening.

oh my god I've recently started playing on my old nintendo dsi as well and it's been so much fun! I even bought an electrical contact cleaner and made the L and R buttons work again, I felt like a tech genius when I took everything apart

I was a teenager in the 90s and used to love shopping for 60s and 70s clothes from the local vintage shop. Late last year I discovered a vintage stall in Newcastle called 90s to Now. 90s. They're a vintage store that doesn't sell anything older than the 90s.
I know it makes sense with the stores I was buying 60s and 70s stuff from back in the late 90s/early 2000s. The maths works, but still I think I aged ten years seeing that sign.

Yeah, in the USA "fringe" is a very specific type of bang. Like I have bangs, but I have the side swooping bangs like the 40s starlets. Where as we see fringe as the tight fuller bangs that go across your whole forehead
Lol the way I know what game your talking about except it’s called style savvy in the states. (Side note the whole soundtrack is on YT) The company who makes that game has made a new one that comes out this year on Nintendo switch. It’s called style dreamer and you can be an influencer.
