I absolutely couldn't have done this without your awesome guidance, thank you for being so generous with your time and patient with my stupid questions. ... but you're absolutely wrong about that HeroQuest rule ;)
Knowing more about resin printing would have helped me substantially. I came from FDM printing terrain. I bought my first resin printer without realizing how frustrating and expensive it could be. I literally gave up after my first attempt and returned my printer. About two months ago, I bought a GKTwo and my experience has been significantly better.
What i want for ALL future 3d printers is to have a heater by default, it's criminal to not have it in 2024 as it's such an essential part to ensure good printing.
@@Kiddeth That's an hilariously bad take and dumb reasoning, it's better to have an essential feature already builtin instead of having to spend extra time, troubleshooting and money to add it anyways to get an acceptable experience, especially when it doesn't add much cost to begin with.
When I watched to video, I realized that we only need one thing that is the heater. In fact, all the other parts are added for nothing, you dont even need the screen for resin printing. Just heater, heater and heater. Since GKTWO is the only model on the market with a heater, this makes it perfect :)
I just conviced my wife, that we really need a 3d resin printer in my...I mean in our lives. Now I need to learn how to use it, because I really want to avoid "I told you its nonsense" situation :D
Been wanting to get back into the hobby because of the gk2. So im glad you our running through the basics while giving people the chance to get such a great machine.
Thanks for saving my, and, I'm sure, many other people's time with all this clear and organized information. If only I realized how much temperature matters earlier! I knew I was missing something. Next printer I get will be heated, ideally as a built in option like the GKTwo.
Been dreaming of resin printing for so long now. Yet to actually bite the bullet because I live in i small one room apartment atm. The GKTWO has been in my scope for so long now.
As someone who uses FDM almost daily now, I have always wanted to get into resin just for the quality you can get in prints both for busts and minis. This video has been super informative.
After finding out about 3d printing, trying it on a cheap fdm, failing, then finding out about resin and not wanting to fail again, I started watching many many vids. I finally found a trustworthy voice of guidance. If I don’t win, I’ll probably save up and buy one anyway. Thanks for your honest reviews.
I work with 3D printers at work, but don't own a resin printer myself, I do recommend this hobby to anybody who has time and a safe space for resin. A resin printer at home would be great though!
that man had exactly the same journey as me with the Anycubic, thanks to all the videos you make I am now thinking to give resin another try with the GK-TWO.
Gk2 is such a beast a printer the heating would be so helpful living in mid west so many of my prints fail or part of the prints partially fail due to temps......
Your videos have been a huge help with helping me decide if I want to get into resin printing. I already have a FDM printer, but it wasn't printing at the quality I wanted for miniatures. I ended up buying the GKTWO set as my first one today based on yours and some of the other reviewers! It's great content and really helps to inform us newbies trying to get into the space so thanks a lot!
I got here from the Creality Halot Mage Pro review I watched the other day. After reviewing your best resin printer video, would love to put my ticket in for the GKTWO bundle. Great channel.
Been 3d printing two weeks and I'm just finding all the best TH-camrs. I'm only doing fdm for now but do plan to add resin eventually. But I've watched a bunch of your videos and especially love you not blowing smoke about the differences between resolution and similar.
I'm so very thankful I found your content BEFORE I fully invested in resin printing! The process has been sooo easy compared to the horror stories I've heard others have gone through, and that's all thanks to you!
I do love 3d printing, I had a Prusa mini and a Anycubic mono X both destroyed in a fire in my basement 😢 ( caused by a washing machine not them). One day I would like to purchase a Gktwo and a P1S, but those 2 will always remain in my memory and my heart ❤️
Great job on that animation. The sliced veggie is a good verbal representation, but that animation is perfection in getting across the build process. The GKTwo is an amazing update to the options.
Recently had to quit my job for medical reasons after over a decade. Passionless experience. Trying to start over with something that I can truly sink my teeth into and be happy with. Hobby and gaming 3d printing is path I have chosen. Thank you for your educational videos, they have helped immensely in getting through the learning pangs.
Thanks for shedding light on resin 3D printing! As someone familiar with FDM, this is my first dive into resin printing. Your video provides invaluable insights for better understanding this world. 🙌
I've been umming and arring about getting into 3D printing the last few weeks and your videos have definitely steered me in a direction which is making it look more likely I will be confident in starting!
I have to say I was interested in resin printing for a few years now, but didn't dive in till I found your channel. Your videos gave me the confidence to give it a go and have loved every moment of it. I'm now looking at getting a second printer. Thank You!
I've had my resin printer for about 6 months now, so I have a pretty good grasp on the basics, but this video is invaluable for anyone who is brand new. I'm very much looking forward to part 2, as well as any videos about slicer settings.
I think I have watched the best of 2023 lineup video about 10 times still deciding on a purchase, to the point the person sitting nest to me at work actually commented asking if thats the same video I watched before lol. Thanks for everything. Keep up the great content.
Coming from FDM printing, theres so much more to learn. I think I need to dial in my Settings from start. Thank you verry much for your very informativ videos.
I've been using FDM printers since before the Ender 3 was first released but have never taken the plunge into resin printing. It's nice to see honest videos about what the pitfalls and issues are. Keep up the great work.
I have quite a few friends who I have sent your videos to to help them get started with resin printing ans understand how much of an art it is to prepare, support, and slice a file for a resin printer. That sequence of events is just as important as the model itself, if not more important
Ive been considering a 3d printer to augment my 40k addiction for some time now. The Uniformation GK2 seems like a good setup to future proof my printing goals. Thanks for all your wonderful content, it all makes learning about this hobby a whole lot easier!
I'm currently saving to get a resin print. So much info on all the different print it's easy to get overwhelmed but your videos have been a great resource.
I have an FDM printer but I wasn't satisfied with the level of details I get with some figures. I love my FDM printer but I have been on the look-out for the best resin printer on the market. Living in the UK, I feel like the GK 2 will be a great option for resin printing with its built-in heater. This video is exactly what I need to start my 3d resin printing journey.
Very informative, I had already done a lot of reading up on resin printing, as I'm currently looking to move into resin printing, have been printing on FDM printers for many years now, and with the GKTWO it seems there finally is a resin printer that suits me.
I started my adventure with 3D printing at the beginning of COVID and bought a Creality FDM printer. I had ok results but ended up wanting a larger build plate and turned around to get an Ender 3 Max. Had much better results and have printed a number of projects that I still use. I’ve been wanting to get a resin printer to print higher detail models, like a model of the Black Knight from Monty Python’s Holy Grail with spaces to place magnets for the removable arms. Love your video and I now have a new rabbit hole to watch the rest of them!
I’m looking to get into 3D printing as a hobby and finally decided that a resin printer checks a lot of boxes for me, but the biggest issue I have is that I live in an area that has very cold winters. I’m glad I saw your video on the GKTWO because a heated reservoir is exactly what I need for the area I live!
Great video with lots of great info. I think a big help for people who don't like "long videos" is to have time stamps that help impatient people move on to the info they actually need or want.
This was incredibly helpful already even in one part. I've been hemorrhaging money on Warhammer and started looking into 3d printing for terrain. I was about to fall off the deep end on this stuff and your video let me slow down and learn before making a decision. I'm looking forward to future videos!
Thanks for all the great resin content. Currently using an ender 3 but really want to upgrade to a resin printer. This process still feels like magic to me just watching the prints rise from the liquid. Just wild.
As an FDM'er, I'm looking to dip my toes into resin printing and your videos have helped a great deal! BTW, I think Guy is right after a quick google! Edit: Turns out google was wrong and you are correct!
listened to this video while I was cleaning and curing my last 3d print. I love to freshen up my knowledge on the hobby and especially the safety issues. Gladly am still doing everything right up to now ^^
Love all of your videos. Your videos got me into 3D printing and I can't get enough of it. A GKTWO would be an amazing addition to my 3D printing set up. Thank you FauxHammer
I recently started 3d printing and I'm really into warhammer so your videos are just perfect to learn everything there is to know about 3d printing, thank you !
Thank you for doing this video series. I have friends and family who want to know about how to get started. Now I can add this series to my recommended list.
GKTWO would be a massive, life altering upgrade from my current setup, getting it from the channel that got me into this hobby would be mind blowing. Sign me up!
Even to someone who is already familiar to printing, I found it quite helpful to relearn things. Also there's settings that I avoid changing because I don't really understand the implications of changing them - so I look forward to the next video explaining them.
Been doing a lot of research on 3d printing so i can widen my hobbying and thanks to you FauxHammer i have had many of my early worries dismissed on what printer would be right for my budget, keep doing the good work mate.
I only have FDM printed so far, but looking into resin printing I've always found your video's and reviews informative and entertaining. This beginner / series guide is definitely helpful for deciding whether to finally making the jump into resin printing.
Combining two channels I really like, awesome! I went through the same as Guy. I had a anycubic mono and I really just had a few successful prints by accident. I even built a heater for it to help me. Now I want to upgrade to a more modern printer, which will hopefully make things easier
I picked up the Geeetech ALKAID about 6 months ago and have been happily printing little things with that, but seeing all the fine detailed larger models available I've been eyeing up a larger printer, I've watched a lot of review videos from different places on many of the available options and it was your video on the GKtwo and the Printer of the year 2023 that set me on course to get one, now it's just about saving up and making more room in my work sapce!
Great vid to help new folks out. Was just talking about resin printers with my brother as he expressed some interest and asked me about them. Will make sure he gets a look at these vids. Thanks again!
Been learning 3d printing over the last month or so. Started off with FDM and I would love to learn resin as well. Your vids are a huge help and inspiration. The Uniformation GK2 is the printer I was leaning towards since your vid 9 months back. Thanks for another great vid!
I know a lot of seasoned printer users may not like it, but I think the more instructional content you put out, the better. It's not like this is all an idiot proof process yet. The more info the better, so keep the content directed towards any experience level coming.
If I remember correctly, my friends and I had to kill all the enemies in a room to search it. We could all search it, but the first one would get the special item if there was one. Of course... the argument of ... "that's the way it's played in my house" always applies. Even if they are videos aimed at beginners, it's always good to review well explained concepts. Thanks for your work.
I have both a resin printer and an fdm printer. In my experience resin printing has been far easier than fdm printing. FDM has trillion variables to fiddle with try to find the optimum result, clogged nozzles, overextrusion, underextrusion, blobs, bed adhesion and numerous other problems. Resin, so simple and fast too. The print quality is super smooth, not achievable with a fdm printer.
Been watching your reviews for a while now. Getting super close to pulling the trigger on a printer. New to the painting hobby and think it would be really fun to start printing models and painting instead of ONLY buying from GW. Anyways, this kind of content is exactly what I need to figure out if I am going to be biting off more than I can chew. Thanks!
I love the fact that I've watched that video from midwinter minis about three times and when I started looking into 3D printing I just so happened to find your channel, the one he had brought in for that video, completely by happenstance. Happy accidents.
A couple of the most important points you reference that are often overlooked are temperature, the number of debates I have had with people on this amazes me considering it is written on the bottle usually, and flex in the PTFE sheet being variable. To add to this it can also significantly vary and impact prints depending on location on the build plate, for example lift speed with low flex in the extreme corners may fail compared to success in the middle.
I've been running the GKTwo ever since you made the first video on it! Thank you for keeping up with the community and always being honest with us! Also, I hope your resin comes to the states one day!
That printer looks awesome. It's true temperature is important. On groups, people tend to often forget the temp and level their plate to no end. I really enjoy your channel. The tests are not biased.
So I've been thinking about what kind of printer should be my first 3D printer, FDM or Resin, and this video easily made convinced me that it should be resin. I think the mess is worth the results.
Thanks for the beginner breakdown. Can't wait to eventually get my own resin 3d printer. I have been watching your channel a lot as research into what the best is for me.
This is exactly the video series I've been looking for. Have watched some of your other videos for information on printer brands, as I'm planning to buy my first printer this summer, but really felt like i needed a bit more of a basic video more then anything else.
I'm currently on my third printer. Started with the Anycubic Mono X, then the Saturn 2 8k, and now the Saturn 3 Ultra. I also started with an Ender 3 , and now (after 3 years of tinkering, modding, rinsing and repeating) I'm running the X1C from Bambu labs. Your most valuable video to me was the comparison between ACF and FEP/NFEP. It convinced me to put an NFEP Saturn 2 vat on my Saturn 3 to preserve the finer details on my minis (especially teeth or fingers/claws)
I have a friend in Discord who I just sent my old Anycubic Photon that had been collecting dust since it got replaced with an Elegoo Saturn. He's new to resin printing so this video will definitely help him!
Trying to restart this hobby, and been watching your video for the last days (a lot)! Huge thanks for being so direct and transparent. Super well done! Especially the videos of screen resolution being irrelevant were a bit of an eye opener. Well done!
Great video, nice to see you getting back to basics. I watch a lot of your early videos when I was getting ready to buy my first resin printer last year.
Found your content while researching what resin printer i should get. Been printing in FDM but looking forward to the quality I can achive with resin. Thanks for the great videos 👍
Heated vat to 30c/86F is just so crucial to me for getting consistent prints, with high accuracy. Plus it's so much easier to work with warm resin. Heated Vats and Self Leveling beds really should be on every resin printer.
Just what I needed, been FDM printing since Christmas but have gone from Cosplay helmets to sculptures/miniatures and have now started diving down the Resin rabbit hole and it's a little scary!
I just wanted to say thank you for all your tests - I have been looking for ideas what I actually need in a resin printer before buying one. This was a very informative, looking forward to the second half.
I love your content no matter the length! Also you are very responsive to your community which is quite rare. I'm still waiting to be able to get your table top resin here in the US.
Oh this an amazing way to start to this hobby, I was wondering what's the best way to start, which is the best printer and everything, I'm baffled that is just an art in terms to configure, what model to print, temperature, etc... wow... just amazing and what a marvelous hobby to be honest !!!
When I started 3D printing, I was for minis. And not to fine a point on it, D&D style minis. I grew up on D&D and 3D printing then painting my own was like Charlie & the Chocolate Factory. Then of course came all the cosplay and everything else. But my first printers were resin, solely for the detail! Resin remains my go to, I say I print 80/20 resin to FDM. The mess and effort, worth it to me, solely for that detail. I live alone, I am home-bound disabled, my apartment is basically my 3D printing & painting studio that I happen to live in. The majority of room is taken with machines, workbench, painting area and so on. While the kitchen & bedroom is where I live. Many may shake their heads at this, go ahead, but this is my zen. This is what brings joy and zen to me. This is what helps me forget, at least for moments, the pain I endure all day.
I have been watching resin printing videos for the past year, all the while trying to decide on which printer will be best for my needs/wants. The GK2 is on the top of my list. I live in a very warm and humid climate and my printer will more than likely be set up in my attached garage. Your videos have been very helpful in understanding the basics of resin printing. I still feel like I need an engineering degree but, your videos have been extremely helpful. I no longer feel like I need an engineering degree to understand the basics. On a side note, I don't know who is right or wrong regarding your Hero Quest dilemma. If common sense prevails, one would think you have to stand next to something in order to touch it, meaning you have to be next to it to open the chest. But since I don't know the rules to Hero Quest, I will leave that question to someone other than me. 😂
thank you for all the videos it has be very helpful for finding out about new printers and the basics from a beginners perspective. Living in colder climates every printer needs to have a heater. ever since you presented the GK2 i have been looking to pick it up.
I absolutely couldn't have done this without your awesome guidance, thank you for being so generous with your time and patient with my stupid questions.
... but you're absolutely wrong about that HeroQuest rule ;)

It's not like it's difficult or expensive either; I doubt integrating a vat heater would add more than $10 in manufacturing cost per unit.
if you can't afford an external heater, how did you buy the printer. so no its a lame idea and just an added expense and something else to go wrong
@@Kiddeth That's an hilariously bad take and dumb reasoning, it's better to have an essential feature already builtin instead of having to spend extra time, troubleshooting and money to add it anyways to get an acceptable experience, especially when it doesn't add much cost to begin with.

Decided to look into resin printing and one of your videos on the GK TWO came up. Really makes it seem like an approachable way to print models.
I have been looking at the gk2 after your videos and it would really change my ability to print. Winking it would really push me to take the step

As always, nice and informative video. Even though I am not a beginner I can only appreciate you helping out everyone who is starting
So nice to have a miniatures printing channel. Honest fair and open. Thanks!
listened to this video while I was cleaning and curing my last 3d print. I love to freshen up my knowledge on the hobby and especially the safety issues. Gladly am still doing everything right up to now ^^
3d printing is such a fun hobby. This video will definetly help anyone who is just getting started

The quality of a resin printer is amazing. This printer seems to be one of the best out there. Thank you for the video.
Always great to cover the how to to beginner to expert, there's always new ppl jumping in and new tips to discover so I salute you for doing this :)

I know a lot of seasoned printer users may not like it, but I think the more instructional content you put out, the better. It's not like this is all an idiot proof process yet. The more info the better, so keep the content directed towards any experience level coming.
Of all the 3D printing content creators I have watched, I have most likely learned much more from your video's, so thanks for that.
That heated resin vat is such a blessing. Nice to see all this info available to curious hobbyists starting out.
Even for those of us that have been at it for a year or 2 this was still a great refresher
It was your channel that got me interested in printing in the first place. Thanks for your time and effort.
This is the channel I needed to find before flogging my first resin printer. Going to have to start over again.
Thanks!
I like the overview. As someone who’s been deep into FDM, resin is interesting with the difference in surface quality.
I love the fact that I've watched that video from midwinter minis about three times and when I started looking into 3D printing I just so happened to find your channel, the one he had brought in for that video, completely by happenstance. Happy accidents.
nice to see you back then. Yeah Guy is a great bloke and a fantastic host. it was a pleasure to meet him and help out! He's done plenty for me
A couple of the most important points you reference that are often overlooked are temperature, the number of debates I have had with people on this amazes me considering it is written on the bottle usually, and flex in the PTFE sheet being variable. To add to this it can also significantly vary and impact prints depending on location on the build plate, for example lift speed with low flex in the extreme corners may fail compared to success in the middle.
Another GREAT video- thank you! Looking forward to the next one...and my new GKTwo
Will always start my resin 3d printing research here before going anywhere else when I finally get into it.
Since I discovered your channel, I do not miss any of your videos. Uniform GK two was a blast when you first reviewed it
Thanks for the beginner breakdown.
Just got into printing, this was very informative. I'm looking forward to the next in the series. Glad someone linked to this in grimdark.
Thanks for all the great content spreading the good word of 3D printing and how it's not as horrid to get into as people think
