Nuno said in an interview that EVH wanted to hear his new stuff but was told it wasnt ready. Eddie died before he could listen to the finish product. As an homage to EVH, he ran this very solo through a Phase 90. Absolute legend for an absolute Legend.
Actually, they released a great album in 2008, with the lead single/video for King Of The Ladies, which is one of my favourite songs. And in my opinion, it's one of their best songs from the band's catalog.
These guys haven't aged a bit. The vocal harmonies over that crazy solo was something we didn't ask for but something we badly needed 🔥 Pure Extreme magic!
that's the best part of the whole song..simply sublime, the vocals of Gary over that muted solo part by Nuno is sooo epic it makes my hair "Rise" and gives me chills.
EVH is smiling through Nuno his fingers, N4, amps and through all of us today on 3/1/23. Great song Gary’s vocals are on, K Fig never misses a beat & Pat Badger is a machine on bass & vocals.

@@richardfisher8460 The first part of that solo is definitely homage to EVH. Then before that half ends Nuno does some speed burns some palm-muted. He then slows it down & moves to the finger pad runs that are amazing as the band harmonizes “Rise”. I’m very well aware of Nuno’s finger tap runs. His guitar magic in his Extreme & solo career. I’m not putting Nuno down. When it comes to EVH Nuno is humble. He even says he isn’t the one to take EVH’s crown. I personally believe EVH would crown Nuno his successor if he could. My point is that Nuno & the boys brought rock n roll back to the masses dying for it. Nuno is my favorite guitarist of all time.

I have 4,000+ cds and if I could possibly wear one out, it would be SIX. I've been playing it non-stop. From top to bottom, Gary's vocals are smokin', Nuno's licks are once-in-a-lifetime, and Pat & Kevin are pounding it strong. WOW! Thank you so much for being REAL musicians that keep this old dude's rock passion on fire. The body may be old, but my music engine inside is still turbocharged!! Well done, Extreme!

I just had a moment a relisten this is by far the best solo guitar I’ve ever heard. In 72 years! I could go on like a faux critic, like a wanna be, like I was there when Hendrix, Clapton, Bo Diddley, John Lee, Mark, Eric, Eddie, David, Jeff, BB, Brian, even Kurt, Tommy, Dick and Hairy… but who cares? That’s all irrelevant! My favorite of all time, Mike Landau… this is the best, where I’ll always til next time refer all to listen to the utmost JOY of guitar playing! Yoweee!
First Nuno is, strait up, paying homage to one of his heros in that solo as only Nuno can! 🙏 Peace brother! Also, after multiple spins lets just put aside the fact that this track kicks ass for a moment. These guys, like all of us, are not getting any younger yet this feels like they just walked back in the studio after recording Porno or III Sides. 🤯 The energy, the groove, the melody, the harmonies!!! 15 years is a long time to wait, but damn guys please keep doing what you do, because it works!! Cannot wait to spin the rest of the album!
That's all straight up Nuno. The palm muted runs, into a delay. That's flight of the bumblebee. The bitcrusher is new. I'd like to know which peddle he's using - or if it's in post. I totally agree that it feel's like they walked out of cryosleep from 1992, and fed on metal from the last 20 years through a tube. The harmonic treatment is modern. Great song! Feels good man.
Beato is great - I hope his snowball continues to grow, VERY cool solo from Nuno!!!! The melody/vocals sounds a little ripped from the late-great Scott Weiland. Just a product of all things 90s here and this ones sounds a little too close to an STP vocals. I still love this but I really hope that is an "homage" to Weiland.

Goddamn this is good!!! Nuno’s solo is so jaw dropping that it demands respect on it’s own. I haven’t heard a solo that is exceedingly fresh and unique like that in a long time. Gary appears to be in a commanding role that is ready to hit stadiums again. He seemed to be channeling Scott Weiland at times. He is energized! The whole band is vibing hard! 🤩
There a guitar renaissance right around the corner I can feel it. I’m glad to see extreme make a come back with such a banger. In a world where originality is nonexistent, nuno is always a breath of fresh air.

This is how to revive rock music-- this is fire. The solo is beautiful-- it sounds new at the same time sounds so familiar that I feel it will attract new generations without annoying the OG rock heads out there. Awesome song!

The feeling I get from this solo is Nuno saying "Hey Eddie, I'll take it from here my brother"! So much of this solo is reminiscent of Eddie's early playing! Genius song combining drop D power chords from today's era with everything that made a Van Halen solo special! Nuno is the ONLY guy who could pull this off!
He loves Eddie, so if anything, it was to honor him. I’ve never seen so many people talking about one guitar solo the last couple weeks. I hope this starts a fire for heavy rock bands again that make great songs instead of noise. That hasn’t happened in a while.
@@JohnMegaton2062 I absolutely agree! I'm old enough to remember the first time I heard eruption as it was the same type of chatter when it was released. I also remember when Extreme hit the scene in the late 80's and I remember saying to myself, "this is the first player I've heard who has a flare like Eddie's"! Eddie was the greatest rock, rhythm player ever and he doesn't get enough credit for that. Lots of guys can player blistering solos but only a few can combine killer rhythm chops, along with solos that fit those chops, like Eddie and Nuno!

Gary and Nuno are both in their 60's right? they look like they are half their age and their energy on stage is waaay spectacular than any band. They are all over the place running and making the crowd pumped up.
You can't understand what this means to me, I waited for so long for such a magical song from Extreme, and can't wait for the whole album... and what about the solo, Nuno is devastating, just awesome. Keep on rocking this way guys!!
That solo is something completely new. So technically precise, but somehow tastefully restrained in order to showcase the sheer talent involved in it's execution without resorting to tired stereotypes. Damn impressive.
@Juno Sullivan I like all kinds of rock being a 62 year guitar player that grew up in the Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Grand Funk Railroad Era. To be honest I love great guitar solos from the 60s all the way through current ones. I actually was never a big 80s Hair Band fan. I just thought this particular solo had a very unique sound.

Some of the haters are hilarious. Nuno is 57 years old. Sounds great and is every bit as inspiring as he was 25 years ago. As for all the instagram guitarists out there.....not one of them could write a hit song to save their lives. Nuno has actually written a #1 single and is a legendary guitarist.

Killer guitar work. Very impressed with the guitarist, he some how escaped my radar until now. My musical taste is much heavier, so I am not the intended audience. Song is a pass for me, something about the lyrics and singer does not gel for me. I will remember that solo, great work.
I remember very well when one day in the early 90s the riffs of Get the Funk Out came out of the radio, mixed with the horn section, metal, funky, an incredible groove and then that crazy solo that is still among the best ever! I was ecstatic and I bought the album right away and everything was great from the first to the last song! What can I say? Welcome back Extreme

It's been a while for any guitarist to make a killer solo that stands on it's own... cool licks, timing, variation, feel, emotion, talent, and wow factor... long time since I've heard a killer dive bomb! Being a drummer...just gotta say that another one of the absolutely amazing things about that guitar solo (like there isn't enough already)...is how monstrously rhythmic it is. The bass and drums are laying down this monumental foundation...and Nuno is riding it like lighting in a hurricane. Dancing all over the fret-board...creating such tasty tasty tasty runs and combinations and explosions of sound. And those arpeggios where he climbs out of it!!!! There are lots of new guitarists on the block who can shred like a demon...but makin it musical you gotta have wisdom...you gotta have experience...and you gotta have years. Nuno has it in spades! Usually I always say that Guthrie Govan is my top dude on the guitar-playin block...but Nuno does things that I've just never seen or heard before...and he does them like an effing bat-out-of-hell!
Nuno is a super underrated rhythm player, just like EVH. As much as they're a "metal" band, they've always been heavily influenced by funk so that kind of percussive rhythmic sensibility always comes out in Nuno's playing. Plus, the dude can more than hold his own on the drums too. You should youtube him playing Hot For Teacher with Steel Panther...except he's playing the DRUMS and nails it!

Actually, they released a great album in 2008, with the lead single/video for King Of The Ladies, which is one of my favourite songs. And in my opinion, it's one of their best songs from the band's catalog.

He then slows it down & moves to the finger pad runs that are amazing as the band harmonizes “Rise”. I’m very well aware of Nuno’s finger tap runs. His guitar magic in his Extreme & solo career. I’m not putting Nuno down. When it comes to EVH Nuno is humble. He even says he isn’t the one to take EVH’s crown. I personally believe EVH would crown Nuno his successor if he could. My point is that Nuno & the boys brought rock n roll back to the masses dying for it. Nuno is my favorite guitarist of all time.

I just had a moment a relisten this is by far the best solo guitar I’ve ever heard. In 72 years! I could go on like a faux critic, like a wanna be, like I was there when Hendrix, Clapton, Bo Diddley, John Lee, Mark, Eric, Eddie, David, Jeff, BB, Brian, even Kurt, Tommy, Dick and Hairy… but who cares? Goddamn this is good!!! Nuno’s solo is so jaw dropping that it demands respect on it’s own. I haven’t heard a solo that is exceedingly fresh and unique like that in a long time. Gary appears to be in a commanding role that is ready to hit stadiums again. He seemed to be channeling Scott Weiland at times. He is energized!

I also remember when Extreme hit the scene in the late 80's and I remember saying to myself, "this is the first player I've heard who has a flare like Eddie's"! Eddie was the greatest rock, rhythm player ever and he doesn't get enough credit for that. Lots of guys can player blistering solos but only a few can combine killer rhythm chops, along with solos that fit those chops, like Eddie and Nuno!

To be honest I love great guitar solos from the 60s all the way through current ones. I actually was never a big 80s Hair Band fan. I just thought this particular solo had a very unique sound.

Being a drummer...just gotta say that another one of the absolutely amazing things about that guitar solo (like there isn't enough already)...is how monstrously rhythmic it is. The bass and drums are laying down this monumental foundation...and Nuno is riding it like lighting in a hurricane. Dancing all over the fret-board...creating such tasty tasty tasty runs and combinations and explosions of sound. And those arpeggios where he climbs out of it!!!! There are lots of new guitarists on the block who can shred like a demon...but makin it musical you gotta have wisdom...you gotta have experience...and you gotta have years. Nuno has it in spades! Usually I always say that Guthrie Govan is my top dude on the guitar-playin block...but Nuno does things that I've just never seen or heard before...and he does them like an effing bat-out-of-hell!
Nuno is a super underrated rhythm player, just like EVH. As much as they're a "metal" band, they've always been heavily influenced by funk so that kind of percussive rhythmic sensibility always comes out in Nuno's playing. Plus, the dude can more than hold his own on the drums too. You should youtube him playing Hot For Teacher with Steel Panther...except he's playing the DRUMS and nails it!

Aside from a wonderful Nuno guitar sound (and flashy solo), this is generic uninspired arena rock with terrible lyrics and recycled riffs. There's no point in trying to shame the youth.

"Rise" is gotta be the best Rock song that I heard in a decade.🤘 Everything is Great! - Gary's spectacular vocals, Nuno's top notch guitar playing and blistering solo, solid steady bass and fierce drumming. This trumps the new releases of Metallica and Avenged Sevenfold by a mile. Extreme FTW!💯
