This first song was written as to sound like a Middle Ages song. Brilliant. Superb performance by this family. Hope one day that they receive the recognition that their talent deserves.
Julianne has really stepped up her game with so much control over her voice and just enough lilt to make it so unique and interesting. And I must say the instrumentation in this piece was spectacular with Katie and Emmett's portion particularly outstanding.
I wonder, and I cannot explain, how a band can turn my heart so easily. Now, as I face a big decision about my life, and three years ago, when my life was frozen by the fear of the pandemic and the duty of my job-you guys and your music have been a magical spark in the dark. Thank you for sharing your art with us.
For in the dance of seasons, where youth and age collide, They find the perfect rhythm, with hearts and souls allied. As you mature, so does your music, a symphony of grace, A testament to journey, to each and every place.
You want a definition of wholesomeness? The Petersens are exact that! 🙂 Thank you for sharing with us all, all your musical talents. *& a special thank you to Julianne for coming out of your shyness & sharing your wonderful voice with us. God Bless Petersens.
It's amazing how much you enjoy playing, the way you look at each other, the pride you have in both music and each other as a family. Seeing you playing such a complex arrangement, which seems easy, just shows how in tune and musically evolved you are! This arrangement is beyond words!
Major props for taking the Folk and Irish genres and rearranging them for bluegrass instrumentation with so much freshness and skill. That was really enjoyable. So cool that you guys did not just take the somber, mysterious air of Scarborough Fair and try to duplicate that. I like the bluegrass arrangement and tempo, and you guys found a way to bring all of the instruments into the mix in a balanced way with both tunes. It really shows how flexible and vibrant bluegrass can be. Nice.
Absolutely flawless! Mama Petersen stands quietly in the back, but her bowed bass on that transition from Scarborough Fair to Donegal was prefect! Thanks for the great set
Brilliant musicianship all around, and especially Katie’s fiddle work. You can hear the growing confidence in Julianne’s voice. I have always wished she’d sing out and express herself, and she finally has. Wonderful music from a wonderful family (Emmett included!)
She's always had to balance school/university (along with extra classes, then literature which was a LOT of reading!) and joining the band where she could. It's only more recently that she's been able to focus on music full time and find her feet with it
I sometimes make the mistake of thinking I can put on your music "in the background," but this demands full attention. I agree with all the other comments. One of your best performances yet!! So, so strong from everyone!
So excited my CD just arrived, then got this notification so had to watch! Julianne really knocked it out of the park with Scarborough Fair, and I love how big sis Katy keeps an eye on her as they play, and the whole family always has each other in every performance! Mom and Dad Petersen, great job including the adopted Petersen! Cheers, Michael Albuquerque NM USA,
Yeah… that violin solo was awesome… in fact that whole arrangement was pretty sweet… Katie returning to the choking/short articulations toward the end in Scarborough Fair… And the reel at the end… all around… wow!
Wow! Hard to imagine how The Petersens just keep getting better and better but somehow they do. Y’all are an absolute American treasure! So glad I became a fan years ago on a trip to Silver Dollar City with the grandkids.
I love this! Julianne's voice definitely has a beautiful richness to it. Love this arrangement, and Emmet's song and his playing is just amazing. Thank you all for this gift of music.
Beautiful. Love the strings work and arrangement, especially at the end quarter. Emmett is brilliant as always. World class dobro. Lovely vocal Jules. Wonderful fiddle Katie.
Katie et son éternel sourire fait toujours sortir les meilleurs mélodies des ouïes de son violon.katie and her eternal smile always bring out the Best mélodies from her violin.
Julianne, you always take my breath away when you are performing front and center. To the group, tremendous instrumental performances one and all, nicely done. 🤠
Holy smokes. Julianne, again! That precious voice and perfect singing. And EVERYONE has vastly improved on their instruments. First class, people! First class!
WOW! Awesome well done Emmit with your composition and you are such a master of the DoBro and Katie absolutely love the fiddle work in this arrangement and Julianne's voice just sets this whole thing off to perfection! Julianna, Matt, Ellen and Karen strings just blended this wonderful old song so well! Bravo I've always loved this song and your version is priceless!!!!!
You guys blow me away time and time again ! From Katie's harsh fiddle ,..Emmetts constant speed and clarity and Juliannes voice which just seems otherworldly ! I don't like singling anyone out as you are all musicians of the highest degree, but....
Just back from your concert in Cologne the other night, you guys put up the best live performance I've ever seen, loved the harmonies, superb Dobro play and Ellen's vocal range and volume are just unbelievable. At times, I felt like i listened to a studio recording, crystal clear voices and instrumentals, have never witnessed anything like you before. :)))
Saw the title, that Julianne was on leads, listened to the fist 30 second and said YES! This song is perfect for her amazing tones. And yes her voice has matured in the best way. Just had to get that out there. You ALL are amazing. Now back to the music.
Thank you for our Friday surprise! Two for one. Such a creative bunch. God bless them and all watching them. And I did laugh out loud at that outro! A certain bundle of joy is having her 1st birthday soon. I love to see Ellen's smiling face. Love the Petersens.
Ogni volta riuscite a stupirmi sempre di più. Bellissima canzone che sentivo da ragazzo e che voi suonate in modo diverso, ma fantastico. E poi questa ragazza ha una voce splendida. Grazie come sempre.
Wow! What a spectacular arrangement! Love it. The Irish wrap was amazing as well. It's always marvelous to hear Katie and Emmett doing their duets - spot on and wonderful. And the arrangement had the whole gang zinging along at lightning speed at the end. Thoroughly enjoyable and excellently well done. Definitely a winner.
Julianne is getting well deserved accolades for her always stunning vocals, but I was amazed at the creative, tasteful, energizing, and unique arrangement. Katie's parts were particularly "out there" with no place to hide, and she nailed it. Who gets the arranging credit? I'm betting another Katie/Emmitt workup. Loved it!
This is a lovely version of both songs and has the clean tracks of a studio recording ringing out on green grass...has inpired me to have another play on the mandolin, mandola and octave mandolin...Gods richest blessing on all of you...
Absolutely fantastic version of this song. How virtuos you play - all of you!! It sounds impossible but every year you sound even better. Katie's riff on the fiddle at the beginning makes me forget all struggles of this day, Juliannes voice let my heart melting and Emmett's dobro tells my feet to dance... Bass and Guitar sooo solid work! Just amazing.
Wow, absolutely great performance by Emmet and Katie and really everyone. The most talented family in the whole World. Pairing Emmet with this family was perfect.
Katie has grown to be a fantastic soloist! This song, and California, are my two favorite The Petersens recordings. Please put this on Apple Music for us!
Absolutely wonderful. Perfection in this arrangement. I got a lump in my throat just listening to her sing... maybe because I grew up with this song. And what a great transition to the ending. The Dobro work is outstanding...but so is everything else. Love it all.
I have not words to express the excellence of your performance today. The work that happens behind the production, to perform with perfection, shows every time. Thank you all for being who you are. Watching/listening in Mechanicsville, VA. USA
Now that is what you call a piece of music. Great arrangements and fantastic concentration from everyone to bring it all together in such a wonderful way.
Oh, well done Katie! Your internal rhythm is an amazing tool and you use it to such beautiful effect. *EDIT* I typed that before the song was over. You ALL are such a tight group - this is my favorite of all your songs to date. Bravo!
What just happened?! 🤯 I have heard this somg before and your take has made it relevant all over again. You ALL showcased your abilities to shine individually and simultaneously compliment each other. Great musicianship! A forever fan of Juliannes' voice and Katies' fiddle playing, the bass with the bow and Emmetts' solo! Great job everyone! 🙏🏼🎶👍🏼
Saw the London concert. Brilliant as always. This is an incredible version of a classic. Julianne's voice fits perfect and the fiddle and Dobro are so well played. Thank you.
I love everything about you all. I've watched your vids for a while now and it's a blessing to be able to watch you all grow with your channel. You may have the bass mixed differently for this song, but it reasonated beautifully throughout the music. Julianne, your voice is... becoming. I can see you cutting albums (solo). It is a blessing to hear you sing, but watching you transform into who you are becoming is an honor. Continue to... become.
Lovely absolutely wonderful I love your version of this great song and Julz wonderful job your voice fits this song so well and great instrumental arrangement
I loved this arrangement! And I loved Down to Donegal so much that I went looking for it in my favorite music app. After not finding it I read that Emmett just wrote it! You rock dude!
Julianne has become the real star of the Petersens, no offence to anyone in the fam (or Emmett, who is amazing as well)! Everyone is super great at their craft! But honestly, Julianne has improved so much from her timid singing years ago to where she is now. Such a unique and beautifully controlled voice. Congratulations to all! I know mom and dad have to be so proud!
I love the way you make a song your own by putting your signature on it. It's as if I were rediscovering this classic by hearing it for the first time with as much amazement as ever! And for our greatest pleasure, you can add Emmett’s compositions whenever you want, it’s always exhilarating! 🤩
*LYRICS - Scarborough Fair*
------------
Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
He once was a true love of mine
Tell him to make me a cambric shirt
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
Without no seams nor needlework
Then he'll be a true love of mine
Tell him to find me an acre of land
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
Between saltwater and all the sea strands
Then he'll be a true love of mine
Tell him to reap it with a sickle of leather
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
And gather it all in a bunch of heather

One of the best bluegrass bands currently touring. So much talent in one familty. They harmonize like angels.

Something about Julianne’s voice just makes you smile. Extremely unique and pleasant.
1:46 I just can't get enough of what Katie does there at the end of her solo.🎻🔥🥰
Juliannes voice is angelic. Never stop singing Julianne, you sound amazing!!

Can’t stop listening to this version! Strange, to me it seems that Julianne grew as an artist in a very short period of time.
She's always had to balance school/university (along with extra classes, then literature which was a LOT of reading!) and joining the band where she could. It's only more recently that she's been able to focus on music full time and find her feet with it
I take these people as a huge treasure
The whole thing was amazing, but when Emmett introduced the second song, a chill went down my spine. That's a WINNER! ❤🎉
The instrumental portion of this arrangement was amazing and its execution was even more so, especially Katie's fiddle 🤩.
Love it that Julianne is taking front and center more...she is really coming in to her own! Love it!
My grandfolks migrated from Scarborough in the 1920 s to south Melbourne Australia, so love the jigs love the petersens ❤
I love the breaks in Julianne's voice (like the one in the word "going" at 0:12). It gives her voice character.
WOW! That's the best rendition of Scarborough Fair. The dobrough accents are haunting!
My soul got energized to hear Julianne's extraordinary voice.
A traditional English folk song into an Irish style one, both with your own unmistakable americana/bluegrass sound - really cool and unique

It's one of my favorites. Too bad you had to cut Ellen's _Quit horsing around_ joke. That made it even better. Understandable though.
Possibly the best performance to date by everyone! Awesome!

Not sure which I’ve listened to more … this song or “Katie” with Pat K - best family ever
I had to rewatch the violin/slide guitar solos because they’re so good!

The melody of the song takes me back to the past and it sounds so mysthically all. Thank you very much The Petersen´s.

Truly an exceptional arrangement. Truly a phenomenal band.
Great composition how you blended those two songs together. I especially liked the fiddle chop at the first.
The instrumentation is amazing. I'm a born again fan, WOW
The purity that was once America, at 70 this rendition brought a tear of joy and nostalgia. Lords blessings on these young people 🙏.
This one reached in deep and touched my eastern Kentucky soul. Beautiful Peterson family.
Mind blown. Great performance everyone. Perfect vocal J.
