l just started watching video's on mt. everest,and became interested in the sherpas...and noticed all theses other video's on different climber's....so l saw a video with david lama and wanted to know more about him.....and was reading the comment section and saw all these 'rip' words!....is he dead!!....l was so disappointed.....he was so young...he left behind some great alpine video's for us to admire......

Todd Mulligan you cant compare a free solo route with an alpine style route. David probably could have climbed El Capitan clean but it would have been to risky for him to climb it free solo unless he would have put a lot of effort an preperation in it. On the other side there is a very slim chance that Alex Hunold could climb Cerro Torre in alpine style no mather how much work he would put into it. David was probably the most talentet climber ever to live and even he needed a lot of preperation to do it.
so these guys take bolts with them and just leave them in there? is must be very expensive sport taking new bolts every time? how do they even start? put a bolt 1m up thread the rope to the person down the bottom?
there are not bolts on cerro torre, he would've had to use removable gear like cams and nuts. there is a clip of him from his childhood pounding in a bolt, but those are mostly for sport routes, and he was actually creating/bolting the route himself

He talks about respecting the mountain and not avoiding the difficulties, while also bolting new bolts on to the world's most notorious example of an over-bolted mountain. Screw this guy.

He climbs for fun and he pays for it with PR garbage. Good for him, but shame on the people who buy the PR nonsense and the pseudo philosophy. Climbing mountains is hard, but so is getting up every day in the morning and going to work. It is just a part of life.

Watch the full movie, in his actual free ascent he places no new bolts and acknowledges it was a mistake to place them the previous time.
