    Getting $10,000 for a GDD!!!??? That's something that Canada can really use. I was able to get into an incubation program in Hong Kong with a GDD back in 2013, the program covered some of my expenses for hardware and software back then, but that's the only time I got as close as getting some financial support with a GDD.

    • @ElianeGameDev
      @ElianeGameDev  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah, we're lucky in France to have this kind of support! I don't really know how Canada works, but I've heard it's a great country for game devs as well.

      Canada as the Canada Media Fund which is basically the same thing. They fund movies, tv series and video games and you have to pitch your project to them to get funding.

    i think alternating between two projects is really smart, if they are in different phases, as you did. When you get bored or stuck with one thing you can switch. And sometime i can find solutions to problems when doing something "totally" different like; wait here.. this could actually translate to and what if HEUREKA!?! just dont burn out or push way to hard. Dont force it, just give yourself the opportunitys to succeed and go forward and you will

    • @Haipeer
      @Haipeer 29 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      It's not smart. I've done it. It might seem like a good idea to someone who didn't try it. There's a concept of attention switching, but not only that, you will not be able to effectively remember everything because focusing on one project for a while will make you forget a lot of things you planned for the other one. You can make it work, but only if you're very meticulous, organized, but it's not really the way to go. There's a reason it's not even in a category of a "best underrated tip for a game developer".

    • @Phontoz
      @Phontoz 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Haipeer well my friend i meant very broadly with all kinds of projects, also we are all individuals and functions differently. From my personal perspective though, forcing work when you got nothing and just putting hours in because you said so earlier is the death of a project or atleast the love for it. Sure you need to get to work sometimes, but force is a strong word for me as you can tell. Like; "look the door and no food until that homework is done" will never lead to a welldone homework

    • @Haipeer
      @Haipeer 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Phontoz what's the point of being broad when the video is about specifically making two games at the same time? That's literally muddying waters, it's not helpful, practically useless.
      I disagree with practically everything you've said. Discipline is what makes games, not passion, nor love. Either you have it or you don't finish games. RimWorld creator when hiring developers literally had a requirement that said: "Have worked at least n-hours a day, every day, for a minimum of a year". Discipline is key, in anything humankind has ever achieved...

    • @Phontoz
      @Phontoz 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Haipeer simply because my comment was broad about projects in general (well creative/constuctive ones) and this video sure was about gamedevelopment, and searching for grants, juggling two different projects at the same time and and writing, storyboarding a new project, bringing in talented ppl you may know into your project and probably a few things more, been over 24 hours since i saw it now sooo. @@rockerstudio09 Hey! Congrats on starting your game dev journey! You're in luck to start so young, you hopefully don't have big responsibilities yet so you can make the most of your free time. Focus on making quick and short games to learn as much as possible. If you don't know how to program yet, I'd advice you to choose one of the three most commons engines (Unity, Godot, Unreal) and find a complete course about it. You can find free courses on TH-cam, or very cheap courses on Udemy. Start by following them and then try to make some changes by yourself. Once you're comfortable, decide on a small game you want to make, and try to make it quite quick (one month). You can also participate in game jams (you can find them on itch.io:) as it's usually a few days, it will make you progress a ton! The important thing is to learn by doing, so try to experiment a lot and also try to finish games, it's easy to make prototypes but it's really better to make small games that anyone can play from start to finish :)
      Good luck on your journey!

      i think i know what Jadis is referencing. Indie dev was about to get a grant but read fine print and wasn't ready to accept a contract that technically would give all/most rights to his work. He and aus gov sent few mails back and forth but the contract remained too open. They probably aren't gonna do anything with the projects they fund but the contracts would allow some scummy moves. Thankfully (how i understand) most eu art funds are pretty much just free money and no strings attached. Creator of game keeps all rights. Iirc many of these funds have just mandatory credit being added somewhere but some funding programs leave that as optional thing. Aka game (or movie) doesn't even have to tell where the money came from to viewer/player (but i think many or most do want mention in credits).

    Great, the game look's interesting. I guess i will look in to game dev, but i alway's wonder why most indie game dev focu's on 2D rather than a 3D game, I guess coding it might be a little bit complicated especially with the physic's that involve's in it, Hoever, i wish you good luck with this two game's.

    • @ElianeGameDev
      @ElianeGameDev  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Honestly I find that 2D and 3D are quite similar regarding the coding involved, for me the difference is mainly for the graphics. You can find a lot of models for free in the stores, and you can also learn to model basic things in Blender. Plus, with some lighting, shaders and post-processing tricks, your can quicklly have a game that looks good. It's much more difficult to draw, and unless you make a pixel art game, it's hard to find 2D assets in a coherent style. But that's just my personal experience :)
