Thank you Mr. Jeff, I know its been a few years since the video, how is the dash holding up friend. I'm resurrecting my 15 year old 68 gt6 project. 67 years old and starting another project! Have a good one buddy,

Thanks for the inspiration. My Spitfire dash needs to be redone. Sadly, the material won't be as reasonable as you paid, but with a new dash cover, $230+ Cdn, it's well worth the try.

    Very informative video, Jeff.
Tomorrow I'll be visiting a guy that maybe has a useable dash for my car.
If it need recovering, I will try to duplicate your job.

+Ulrik Kaul Hi Ulrik most of the tops can be reclaimed best if get help with the new cover it helps a lot if someone can just hold it steady while you work. also not shown on the video was when I fitted the top I was glad I left plenty material on at both ends so you can cover a spot around the top of the dash panel and door seal area if look you may see. I will point it out on the next video dash nearly finished just waiting for a new oil pressure gauge. thanks Jeff.

Hi Jeff. Great job. Do you know from which suppliers you got the foam and the Vinyl (or if not what to search for - struggling!!). Thanks

Hi Richard the Vinyl came from a company called Martrim based in Sandbach Cheshire uk they do have a web site and always attend the large classic car shows. the foam was ebay search for 3mm high density foam the thickness of the foam you should decide on your application. regards jeff

Can't the original vinyl be seperated from the foam?

hi Michael what I found was the whole thing is molded together with age and removing the cover pulls away foam but on the up side it gave good stiffness when the new cover when on. regards Jeff

So that's how padded dashboards are made. Ive seen ones that are cracked and they have to be filled and painted but in your case you got away with a recover. I thought that vinyl was glued on to the foam but its not.
