Just a heads up, vinegar isn't a disinfectant. It can help control mold and mildew but it won't kill it and it wears hard on rubber components. I've always run the washer on self clean without additives and never had mold/mildew problems. The self clean cycles on the washers I've had are basically a high water level sanitize cycle.
Measure your damn detergent, stop using fabric softener (it's terrible for you, your clothing and the environment), and regularly run self clean. Boom! No issues.

Front load machines wonderful machines but they are not all created equally... IMO they have many more pluses than minuses... less water and less soap and the extract more water during the final spin (compared to a lot of top load machines... that gives more savings) because the load doesn't take as long to dry

@@stephennielsen2134 Yes, I am! I haven't had any issues with the washer at all. Clothes are consistently clean and fresh, my water bill has been cut in half, and I still find myself turning on the interior light to watch a cycle or two. And I absolutely love the sanitary wash cycle!!

Washing machines make me so happy! They should last decade, or two, and save their owners so much time that they can spend having fun! On top of that, it does a pretty damn good job at washing clothes properly, and also sound so nice and ASMR when they are rinsing. This model also gives you a good nice view of the clothes while they are being washed. I love washing machines!

Have been addicted to doing laundry since a kid when my Mom used to clean houses for a living. That's when we got to see all different kinds. Maytag was the best back then (the 80's models) and, honestly, they still are! We had a Whirlpool Super Surgilator from the very early 80s...might have even been late 70s. That was great too. When I got married in the late 90s, I wanted a 90 Series Kenmore set. Pretty darn good, except it guzzled too much water!!! Sorry, I'm a laundry geek...this gets me too excited. I have an older version of this washer (WM3470HWA). It appears there have been no changes since I bought mine 7 or 8 years ago, turbowash, 6 spin patterns, etc. I'm happy with mine and would buy again. I have done two repairs, which I did myself:
    1) The 1-inch long 90 degree elbow drain line at the bottom of the gasket got clogged, which caused water to always get trapped at the bottom of the gasket. I removed the main rubber gasket, which is when I discovered the 90-degree drain elbow had a clog. It was trivial to unclog it, since it's only an inch long. After soaking the main gasket in a bucket of bleach overnight I've not had mold issues these past few years. You must leave the door open. HINT - use 2 plastic zip ties as handles to expand the spring so you can get the wire spring clip back on. Otherwise you need to buy a special $70 spring-expander tool.
    2) The drain hose at the bottom left leaked. What happened is the drain hose rested next to a bolt head from its way from the water pump to the drain plug, which is what you see poking out the machine. After 7 years of the washing machine vibrate from the spin cycle, the bolt head rubbed a hole into the rubber drain line. The bolt, and therefore the hole, was close to where the hose plugs into the pump assembly, so I cut off 3/4 inch and used the same drain hose. The drain hose is now 3/4 inch shorter, but it's still long enough. I also put a piece of scrap rubber between the drain hose and bolt head so it will take more than 7 years to rub another hole via the vibration of the spin cycle.

Good review. One thing I researched and found The 3700 and 3770 are almost the same but not exactly the same. The front controls are a bit difference and the 3770 has turbo washer. The dryers for the set also are a bit different....the front display is a bit different and how the water gets into the dryer for the steam cycle is a bit different...3700 you hook up to a hose on the back of the dryer and the 3770 has a drawer similar to the washer and you have a container in the drawer you put water into. Hope this helps.

This video helped me make the decision to buy this washer and a few weeks into using it, it's the best washer I've ever used! I'm taking care to gently dry out the rubber gasket after each day's use, leave the door open (it's thankfully in a location where that's possible), use 1 oz or less of soap and to use the normal warm cycles when called for. I wash whites separately with a small amount of chlorine bleach and I suspect that will help to keep any mildew away also.

I've had a front loader for 10 years. Always leave the door open, never closed. It's been determined that the overuse of detergent that causes the mildew. Cut detergent and leave door open. I also use eco--eggs instead of detergent. Saves tons of money.

I'm in the UK. My 15 year old Italian belt driven Candy has never smelled or been mouldy because I always leave the door open to dry out the interior (leaving the door open also helps prevent deformation of the door seal and leaking), and I always run a 90 degree maintenance wash once a month.

Stumbled upon your video AFTER I purchased the 3770 washer (and dryer). You are spot on with your review. Love the turbo wash, load capacity, and steam. Cycles don’t take forever to run either. The only odd thing I see is that the detergent dispenser remains wet after the load is done. LG says this is normal... but I’ll keep an eye on it. Very happy that I bought this model!

Lol, I was told I was a traitor. The LG was an amazing washer, looks like they still are. The Fisher and Paykle were also. My best washer I ever had was my old 1968 Whirlpool top loader largest washer ever made for the domestic retail market. Same with the dryer to match. I just ordered a new LG washer from Best Buy. Thanks for this review! I managed to get a used one for less than $500. Used washer might seem sketchy -- would you want to share an underwear laundry cycle with other people? Even the best people in the world? But this washer does have a few sanitizing and tub-clean options, and very easy to tear down and clean . Two adults, two teenagers, somehow they generate an insane amount of laundry. This washer does it all, and the auto-balancing high-speed spin cycle *doubled* the throughput of a really cheap dryer.

LOVE my LG washer. I have a 2016 4.3 cf washer dryer with ALL of the options (steam, prewash, cold wash. Turbo Wash, tub clean, etc.). My only complaint is the darn pump! I've gone through two already! The first one failed in the first year and flooded my mud room, kitchen, right down to the basement! The second one went in the 4th year (smelled electronic burning smell and pump reduction went to 10% which wasn't strong enough to overcome the weight of the water in the hose, so it wouldn't drain). Thank goodness for the lint trapdoor access! After the house flood, we had a tray installed and hose connected to the pipes in the basement leading away from the laundry room above. Was able to babysit and drain tub during wash so I didn't have go to the laundromat while waiting for repairman twice (had to bring a pump back on 2nd visit - whole thing took Sears Home Services -bleh- 5 weeks!!!). I wish I had someone like you in the Poconos area!!! Other than that, I love this washer, I love the condensing dry (not the model you showed here, of course). Totally revolutionized the way we do laundry. Set it - forget it till evening or overnight till next morning. If you do it right, always dries,*hardly* wrinkles, and is virtually sanitized every single time. The only washer I'd take above this one is one of the old Maytag Extra Large capacity washers from the late 80's (like 1987, 1988, 1989 - old design). Best washer ever built in the history of mankind...the 1980, 81, 82 Whirlpool Super Surgilators come in #2 in my book, and the Kenmore 90 Series 3rd place for best turnover and performance (but water guzzlers and terrible brakes). If LG can fix their pump problem and make this machine last a MINIMUM of 15 years, it might just take first place, you think???

    • @iamtheiceman
      @iamtheiceman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Wow, I could not love any machine that would flood my house multiple times ! That is actually a very bad situation for me, as my washer/dryer have to be on my top floor. Getting a flood because of this machine on that upper floor would be a catastrophe. Sorry, but my top loader washer has never done this to me, and I am not looking forward to (upgrading) to these very finnicky, failure-prone models.

I bought my pair new right when the machine came out and as far as I remember it was also when steam was becoming the new BEST THING EVER. I haggled a bit but it still cost me $3300cad. I have never regretted spending that. I should baby it more, I should clean it more, I should do a lot of things better.
But the machine has never cared, unless I completely screw up the soap everything comes out clean and without residue. I'm at 10 years with 0 service calls.
I'm also at 10 years of no mould. And my machine basically live on "Permanent Press" cycle and Cold/Cold water temp. Don't use stupid amounts of soap, leave the door open to air out, and do remember the cleaning cycle once in a while.

@@shellyblanchard5788 The only thing is that it is a little pricey. I worked at a bank for 18 years and calculated the electricity, water, detergent, and softener I would actually save with this machine. I save about $18 a month. I am unable to calculate accurately the money saved due to how long your clothes last so much longer, so you don't have to buy or replace as often. Since I had to have it repaired twice due to the bad pump, I had to pay a $100 deductible on the second visit (I have an appliance home warranty with Sears) because it was 4 years old and out of warranty. So, we'll call any repairs and clothes savings outside of my calculation.
I found it pays for itself in 7.75 years. I've had it for 5.5 years, so I have 2.25 more to go! I'm not joking, I'm not lying about how little water it uses in the wash. But it cleans and rinses well because of the spray arms that keep the clothes saturated. I buy the huge bottles of detergent and softener and they last a family of 3 for about 9 months! Usually can wait until they go on sale or special and then I buy 2 or 3 of them -- so I save even more! Can you tell, I'm mental about laundry? LOL. If you don't need the 4.5 cu ft size, LG also sells a 2.3 cu ft smaller version too.
Lemme know if you decide to get one and what you think about it. I have the version that also dries all in one machine, no vent. I got it in early 2016, at that time the ventless washer dryer combo was 4.3 cu ft but it washes our king sized comforter with no problem. Happy searching! 😊

I personally think an internal heater should be standard on ALL U.S. front load washers with the miserly amount of water these newer units use. Mine has one and I wouldn't have gotten one without it. This is my first front loader .

I never use cold wash.. always hot or warm..(often i use steam) i use pods, never use fabric softener in the washer..I do tub wash cycle, I clean the lower filters, the drawer area, etc.. plus it goes off balanace easy no matter what i do.. has this new washer addressed these issues? im so ready t ogo bac kto a top loader.. an old machine.. however I really like the front loader.. help me out.. Love / hate my LG.. i want to love an LG again. i always use water plus and still seems like its not fresh smelling. i run big loads in my 2688 and it doesnt seem to hurt it.

I dont think so.. ive cleaned in all of its crevices.,. leave the door open most all the time.. I used to use liquid detergent and downy liquid in the drawer.. things were really nasty in that chute.. i went to pods instead and cleaned in that chute best i could.. and that helped a little since the pods go in the tub.. the machine sits for several days at a time without use as its just me and my roomie.. it just seems like there isnt enough water so an under-wear load even on hot can come out stinky.. i always choose water plus and extra rinse.. other than the fact it shakes so hard it has been reliable in that parts have never broke on it.. so its love / hate.. I really want to love it.. but the stench and vibration are buzz killers.. so is why I wonder if the newer LG;s address some of this

I had mold and stink problems with my 1st gen Maytag Neptune, until I read an article that said you only need 1 -2 tablespoons of HE detergent per load.
I used to fill to the line on my detergent caps. I think I was using 10X as much detergent as is actually needed. Now I use a two 1-tablespoon measuring spoons only. The clothes come out clean, and the washer stopped smelling.
It turns out that if you use too much detergent, the machine can't flush it out completely, and the bacteria grow on the residual detergent. As simple as that.
Also, leave the door open, and the detergent drawer so the machine can dry out. It is a good idea if you are handy to keep the tube that drains the door gasket free of built up lint. This is a common issue. Stick something in there to push it out, blow it out, or if you are handy, dis-assemble it and clean it once in a while. Also clean the lint filter if you have one. There is a small door for that.
All in all, front loaders can clean better and more gently, but require more maintenance.

The closest I've seen (smelled?) was when I wasn't around and my father/sister ran a bunch of loads for few weeks without leaving the door open over night.
When I finally got back I ran bleach through it and scrubbed the gasket with a rag. "Smell" was gone and has been since.

I find a front load washer great for those who have a family of children a husband who works in the building or mechanical service trades, and or a couple who does lots of yard work and or garage hobbies and gets clothes dirty often. Thus need a very large machine for large loads sorted, as well prefers to wash their comforters at home. My loads are always between small and medium and occasionally large never over stuffed with clothes. I always clean my comforter twice a year and take it the laundry mat. Thus to me a smaller traditional agitation top loader works well for me. How ever I am thinking the benefit of cleaning a comforter would be a nice change. The LG 3270 model is just like this washer in all respects except instead of the 'Turbo Wash' (spray wash) it has a selection on the right panel to use more water for the wash and rinse cycles, which I select 100% of the time (I prefer the washer to use enough water to drop the clothes into water each turn, ie 2-3" on the bottom, versus just by its own selections the clothes do get all wet but little to no water is on the bottom of the washer as it goes around). This is the model he referenced I think that he indeed bought instead, but now said after this review he would pay the extra ~$200 for the spray feature... I am very satisfied with the LG 3270, it costs about $650 on sale (plus check for water company and electric company rebates ... because of the power and water savings with these models, in my location here I got a rebate check for $140!

We bought a similar LG washer dryer set about 6.5 years ago.
The only thing that has gone wrong with the washer is the circulating pump, But as you have shown in the video, taking the washer top and front apart is fast and easy, as well as putting it back together. Once you get the front off the pump is right there and easy to replace.
this has been one of the best washers that we have owned. I feel confident that it will be with us for at least another 10 years, maybe longer!

Does LG still make the fins in the drum with the roller balls?

Between the 3900 and the 3770 which would you recommend? And between the 3770 and 3700? Seems like the 3700 model cycles take longer?

I always use the hot water setting for almost everything. Since the US washers don't have internal water heaters, the water is not really hot anyways. Are there any washers available here in the US that heat up the water inside the tub like European washers? I always leave the door open when not in use (my door has a magnet that keeps it just a little open for ventilation) . I only use powder and no softeners or anything else and most of the time I hang dry my cloth.

Most mid to high-end washers have built-in heaters. This LG has one.
