It would have been waaay easier to take the whole seatbox out...
    "struggle bus" 😂😂
If you were doing a bit more panel work get some skinpins... Brilliantly useful

I learned a lot about the hardest way to work on a landrover in this series, pretty sure I would do damn near everything different next time.

@@rustandoilI plead the 5th, but I will say that my old landy is generally more fun to drive than my 420hp lancer evolution, and gets a ton more attention.

It’s great to hear an American’s take on a British Classic. Even references imperial measurements, you have to update. Right amount of irreverence for the home country but know you don’t mean it. Now I’ve found you I want more. From a BritFan.

Thanks so much, I haven't been updating much recently, but I want to do some more videos on the old girl, and take her "green laning". I regularly get asked here in the US, "what kind of jeep is that?". I also have a deep desire to put a Kubota diesel into an mg midget, and paint it orange with big "powered by kubota" on the sides.

Thank you! YRM in the UK makes some pretty nicely fitting stuff.

I’ve never seen anyone attempt this in such a manner... how I would do this is pull both seats out and remove the floor plates then repair the seatbox on your bench.
That’s exactly how I’m doing mine, this looks awkward.

This seemed the most straightforward way at the time to me, It is awkward, but I'm not sure the seatbox would be rigid enough on the bench, and you might find that it doesn't fit back in super easily. I think if you have a defender an air powered rivet gun is a must, and the YRM box was excellent. I see you put a 12V cummins in a defender, that's a lot of engine and weight to fit in. looks super cool though, and it beats the hell out of tossing an LS, which I think is a hate crime. Good luck with your defender.

@@wirestiresandfires214 yeah the 5.9 works well in the 110 not sure about a 90 though. Possibly too nose heavy in such a short wheelbase.
I’m currently building a bmw M57 powered 90, should be great fun.
As for the seat box, just remove it, your almost there. Don’t panic about rigidity it will all go back together just fine.... just a helpful tip, I watched this video and seen you struggling is all... also, get good with the mig welder 🙂 your chassis/frame days are numbered...

@@BubbaZanetti6666 The previous owner had put ziebart or some other such junk on the frame, so it looked just fine till I hit it with the needle scaler. The rear third has been replaced, and I've repaired and beefed up the frame, but I think in a year or two I'll just get a new galvanized frame and be done with it.
Before a new frame I want to put air lockers on the rear and and lsd in the front, beef up the suspension and get a winch on it.
