    You are absolutely right its not going to hurt buying a few ms70 coins a year it cant hurt.people spend money on worst things that have no chance of bringing a return the only thing to worry about is milk staining because a perfect coin can stain in a slabb.

    I always stated the same about these certified ASE’s before 2000, what most don’t consider is MS69 and PR69 are so much more affordable that you should never avoid as a collector. This is the problem with certified bullion coinage back then is no one took them seriously as well as the grading companies.

    It is interested that you can only find 10 or so MS70 silver eagles from the 90's at a time on ebay. Where are all these coins? Obviously today, dealers and such just send in box loads to these graders fresh from the mint. So I'm skeptical if coins from 2020 will be worth near a $1,000 in 2060.

    MS 69-70 in slab is the best Numismatic investment I agree, the premium on 69 is almost half of 70 and the return is not too shabby! some collectors or investors say MS-65 and above. So I just elevated my buying game by making it 69 & 70 Only. The idea of low mintage was anything under 1 mill, but now with the 30,000-75,000 Silver dollars are a investment. THe 2019 S reverse is the insane Model and the next will be the First Privy mark on the 75th war memorial coin. This will sell out in 2 hours Bet! get yours now
    But they are already selling on big buyers? Good luck in grabbing your 1 Household allocated oops I meant NGC- PCGS-APMEX JM Bullion, and not to mention the other 100 dealers.

    If the coin itself does not signify that it came from San Francisco then the coin itself is exactly like all the other coins without a designation. For me in this case, both coins being equal, there's no intrinsic value difference between one that came from San Francisco or one that came from Philadelphia. Because the Box had a wrap around and it said it was from San Francisco doesn't make the coin any different than any other. On the other hand what do I know.

    The 1999 Silver Eagle NGC MS70 sold for over $20K around 2011. It's worth more than the 1996 in MS70. Back then there were no PCGS MS70 1999 silver eagles graded. Now there are quite a few. The problem with buying MS70 silver eagles from the 1990's is that if one sells for huge amount of money like the 1995-W PCGS PR70 which sold for $87K in 2013 the entire mintage is still available to be sent it. The higher pop report devalues the MS70 silver eagles.

    It's funny that two people can't decide with their own four eyes if a coin is Worthy to be purchased or sold. Instead they send it to a third party to decide the quality of the coin. Because of the reoccurring inconsistencies in the grading at these professional outfits, I find the whole thing questionable.

      Of course... I don't send them off to be graded myself, nor did I say so in the video. IN fact... MS68's are far more rare than even MS70's. That being said, you never know which one will end up low mintage and they tend to hold their value anyway, so one or two per year is no big deal.

    Couple things, many of the early ms70 silver eagles were bought back by the TPGs becuase they developed waterspots. After that for a while they wouldnt grade an ASE MS70 for a while. Bulk subs are 100+ coins you set minimum grade to be slabed.. you pay for the ones slabbed if less then a certain percent, I think its about 60 fail to make the grade to pay 5 buck each for the ones that fail.

    • @MrMonkeySwag96
      @MrMonkeySwag96 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Keep in mind, a silver Eagle is a bullion coin. Not a collector coin. The cost of grading exceeds what little numismatic value an Eagle has. It's not worth grading Eagles. Almost all Eagles are MS69 or MS70. In fact, 69 and 70 are more common than 68. Since Eagles don't circulate, they're all in pristine condition as long as they remain in the tubes.

    • @SilverSeeker
      @SilverSeeker  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well keep in mind that I dont recommend grading silver eagles yourself but rather buying them already graded. The cost for the average consumer is too high.
      If it's rare coins tho you can use ANACS as the cheapest and if you use NGC their 2nd tier gives you a gift voucher that's worth what the signup see is so the signup cost ends up being a wash.

    Wondering if all the slabbing bashers think slabbing Proof Silver Eagles is just as worthless as slabbing Mint State ASE's?

  • @MrMonkeySwag96
    @MrMonkeySwag96 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    The reason why bullion Eagles lack mintmarks is so they won’t be distinguished by minting facility. It doesn’t matter if the Eagle was minted by Philly, San Francisco, or West Point. They’re never meant to be different type coins, as evident by the lack of mintmarks. That’s why I believe the 2015-P Eagle to be overrated and overpriced. The 2015-P’s 79,000 mintage is counted as part of the overall 46,000,000 production. The 1990s Eagles “low populations” in 70 is artificial. The populations are low because PCGS didn’t slab modern coins during the 1990s. If everybody were to submit their 1990s era Eagles for grading, the pop reports will be much higher and more realistic. Most collectors paying thousands for such coins don’t realize how common these coins actually are.
    It’s all marketing. Early Commemorative half dollar prices plummeted during the 1990s. I’m sure the same holds true for these Eagles. Keep in mind, Early Commemorative halves are much scarcer than any silver Eagle. Most Early Commemoratives had mintages of 20,000 or less. Yet supply outstripped demand when people realized the Commemorative halves aren’t so rare. That’s because Early Commemorative halves have high survival rates despite low mintages. Silver Eagles are worse because they have high mintages and high survival rates.

    • @SilverSeeker
      @SilverSeeker  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They aren't common if you're putting a MS70 set together tho, at all.

    • @SilverSeeker
      @SilverSeeker  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Additionally... people aren't going to throw 30 or 40 bucks to the wind to grade one 1999 Silver Eagle. The reason there are so many modern ones is because of bulk grading programs that allow companies to get their eagles slabbed for an insanely reduce fee. In this video I never ONCE said that someone should send their own eagles off to be graded. In fact, I specifically mentioned the discounts for bulk slab orders and that I buy them, I never said I have them slabbed on my own.
      I think you have your opinion and I have mine, but I personally am working on a MS70 Set of Silver Eagles and I can see the justified price in these. The fact of the matter is that, like I said in another comment... things are worth what people are willing to pay for said things. If you're JUST stacking silver and aren't collecting, then sure, don't buy slabs... but also don't buy numismatic coins. If our economy ever hits the fan and we're standing bread lines, no one is going to care about the numismatic value of your old coins either, they're going to care about the Gold or Silver content.

    • @MrMonkeySwag96
      @MrMonkeySwag96 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      True. Most slabbed Eagles in the market were submitted by bullion dealers. I used to purchase Perth Mint proofs in PF69 slabs because they’re priced similarly to raw coins in OGP. When I did purchase such coins, I do so long after the release date. Modern proofs are more expensive at release date. By waiting several months or a year, I can acquire a PF69 example for much cheaper because the dealer is desperate to liquidate their stock.

    Also I have two coins I've never seen before an 1986 Liberty Ellis Island and when you flip it over it's the way it's soposed to be and another one same kind of coin but dated 1906 and when you turn it over it's upside down, like it was struck wrong or something, the hand holding the torch is upside down. Strange.😁 One other on is really pretty, an 1795 Liberty with a lady on the front with long hair and a big bust, on the back is a cool little Egael. I've only seen that one on line once or twice but know nothing about it. Fun to learn though. I never knew coins could go for so much money. I just got into the coin learning thing in March after finding a box load of Morgans.

      Sometimes "shiny" isn't a good thing. For example, some "shiny" coins are cleaned. A cleaned coin is less valuable than an uncleaned, original coin. In fact, cleaning is considered a form of damage. There's a high chance that your 1795 Bust dollar is a fake. Bust dollars are heavily counterfeited, especially the ones with a "small eagle." The 1795 Bust dollar has a survival rate of 3,000. You can't be too sure your coin is one of the 3,000 survivors. If it was real, it would be worth thousands of dollars. The 1986 Ellis Island dollar isn't anything valuable. 1986 Ellis Island dollars are very common, they're only worth their silver value.

      @@MrMonkeySwag96 Thank you for your help. I'm just going by what I've found and alot of the coins are not shiney but have the darker coloring.
      I finelly got the coin scale and am still waiting for the magnet & maybe it got lost in the mail, so I'll order another one.
      If the 1795 coin isn't real Or any coins I have I find are not real I'll put them in a bag marked fake coins. This is a fun learning about coins ect. Again thank you for your help.
      There's a Walking Liberty with the the back upside down so maybe that's a fake too. Maybe I could make jewelry out of any fakes I may find I have. We have a fair each summer and have street venders and you can rent a table and sell stuff. Hey? I haven't bought any coins (yet) that I have and maybe someone could get enjoyment out of the 'coin jewelry and it would be fun to create it and make alittle on the side.😁

      @@MrMonkeySwag96 A nice man from the Gold & Bullion company named Mr. Wallis was nice enough to look at some phone pics I sent him of a shiney 1878 Morgan and he and his team looked at it and stated that if real it could be worth some money. They could find no sgins of cleaning that I know of or I think they would have told me I would guess. Well times will tell.
      There's a pro coin person 61 miles from me I could take some coins too, I've already got a ride lined up but I want to try to make sure I've done all I can before trying to do that. Would save me money and I don't want to waste the gentleman's time.

    I actually just watched a video saying don't buy graded coins! 🤣 His argument was they're virtually impossible to sell! It's interesting seeing the opposite opinion. Thanks Seeker!!

      Only certain coins should be graded. Vintage US coins are worth grading. In contrast, modern coins and ancient coins are not worth the cost of grading.

      @@MrMonkeySwag96 I understand, I don't own anything that is graded or do I have a desire to own slabbed coins. I've had people try to sell me slabbed coins n I have thought of sending coins out but the price isn't worth it to me. I just found this funny because I found Goldfathers video of "don't buy slabbed" only minutes before I saw this. I don't own anything truly exceptional that would be worth the fees. Thanks MrMonkeySwag!! I appreciate your reply!!

      @@debbiebsbooty Goldfather is a stacker. Most of his coins are modern bullion. And modern coins are never worth the cost of grading. Despite their age, ancient coins aren't worth grading either. Companies like NGC don't guarantee the authenticity of ancient coins. In addition, most ancient coin collectors look down on slabs. Grading companies like NGC and PCGS only exist to grade vintage US coins. Some US coins like Trade dollars are so heavily faked that it's required to slab such coins.

      @@MrMonkeySwag96 so u don't agree with Seeker either?!?! Like I said I don't have anything that's graded but I did start to look into PS70 Eagles after watching this video. I'm a stacker/collector I have bar for Stacking n circulated coins for fun, some pours as well. I believe if you don't enjoy your hobby then you're wasting your time. I need a little variety! 🤣🤣🤣 Some bars are absolutely beautiful but other are boring!!!! Adding coins and rounds to my stack keeps it fun for me.
