- This week we had the biggest coin buy we have ever made walk though the doors of our pawn shop. This is the biggest coin collection to walk through our door by far. This is why I buy silver. I know even when I get old silver and gold will still be money
Why? Silver doesn't even keep pace with inflation. Silver is a terrible investment.

Silver isn't money. It was demonetized by the US government. You can't buy anything with silver. You first have to turn it into USD.@@dylanroberts93
@@frankabler it's bought as a store of value. It does keep up with inflation, and silver is best for most people because the average person can't afford gold. It's the same reason you should not buy more than 10oz silver bars, and try to buy fractional gold. They are much easier to sell because the pool of buyers is larger. You get things like 50oz and 100oz silver bars, or 1 oz gold most people can't afford it.

You are very fair and reasonable when it comes to buying silver from your customers. Here in South Texas, pawn shops want to pay you pennies on the dollar when it comes to silver. I would love to share with you part of my collection and see if we can do business...saludos!

nothing wrong with selling, I'm 60 and starting to sell, why hang on to it until I'm 80, I'm enjoying the money little at a time.
I'm 61, hoping to hang on another 8-12 years before I sell. Nobody to leave it to, so have to sell it. But very important to know what you have.
Trying to itemize that coin collection takes time but as an enthusiast its best to keep inventory of value, cause I've seen people take a huge loss on a big stash when they get tired of it and looking for a quick return. But for that nice stash of silver worked out for both when he needed it. Great buy and cool vid!

I would venture to say that he lost his ass. Here is why: On 11/5/2013 spot silver was 21.70. Let's say he paid $1.79 over spot per coin. So, he paid 23.49 per coin. 500 X $23.49 = $11,745 Let's run $11,745 through an inflation calculator to see what $11,745 is worth in today's dollars. OK, $11,745 in 2013 is worth $15,517.81 in today's dollars. So, this man lost $15,517.81 - $11,500 = $4,017.81. @@brianstone4302

Interesting. In 2013, the lowest price for spot silver was $18.61 per ounce. Adjusted for inflation, that is equivalent to ~$22.68 in Oct 2023 dollars. I'll assume that he also paid a premium above spot in 2013, since these are eagles. Spot price as of today is $23.21. Good video guys, thanks for sharing.
Yep, silver is a bad investment. Just think if this man had invested $12,000 in the stock market 10 years ago. He would have about $44,000 now. Silver is such BS.

You are assuming index fund with consistent average. Many people get wiped out. At least metals hold their value
Sorry, silver doesn't even keep pace with inflation. If you bought silver over the past 14 years, you most likely have lost money in terms of inflation adjusted dollars. Yes, indexed fund. They work great.The only way to get wiped out in an indexed fund is if the whole market collapses. And if that happens, metals won't do you any good anyways because we will probably all be dead.@@demri123

This guy is a Good businessman he made $5 bucks per Eagle and didn’t necessarily give the Old man the run around because atleast he got spot price. He will be in Business for years to come plus he is using Social Media and TH-cam as a platform to grow his business. He is transparent with his customers and he will be successful at running a Business

$11,500 for a monster box of eagles. $23.00 a piece? Yeah you took care of him alright. Type ones selling for 35 - 38 bucks a piece? Yeah he sure was lucky. Perhaps he will find a mugger down an alley tonight too and continue his good fortune.
At the end of the video he offered them for sale at 28 per. Good deal for the old man, and he gets to pay his rent and make a buck.

In 203 silver was between 18 and about 22 per Oz, so really not that great of. Del for old mate, but his liver erred it purpose, tired his wealth until he needed it. And the pawn shop isn’t a Charity so…
You're lucky if a pawn shop will pay over spot price. Pawn shops and coin shops aren't going to by You're coins at a high premium that the end consumers are paying.
Let's say they did sell for 38 bucks each - any cost in selling/taxes, gives say about 5 bucks each one?Takes how long to sell them all.

Those eagles are awesome! People saying it was a bad investment for the guy dont understand the value. Metals are money, physical assets. Not dependent on your bank or brokerage, etc....he probably has a 401k or pension, soc. Security etc.....metals are a physical savings account outside the system, with no counterparty risk

Wow - heck of a deal for you! ASE's at right around spot price. Around here, you can still get about +2 to +3 each, depending on the dealer and their inventory.....I would buy $100k worth if I could find them at spot! - Good job!
